Can someone please help me? I recently upgraded from SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Evaluation Version (x64) to SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Version (x64). While the components: Database Engine, Analysis Services, Workstation Components have been upgraded. I can still see that Reporting Services is still in the Evaluation Version. Integration Services is no where to be found.
Regardless, I wanted to add Integration Services but on the System Configuration Check, I am getting the following error: Edition Change Check: To change an existing instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to a different edition of SQL Server 2005, you must run SQL Server 2005 Setup from the command prompt and include the SKUUPgrade=1 parameter. So regardless of this message, I clicked Next, selected Integration Services and then it tells me that it has already been installed.
Anyway, I exit out of set-up. Try to create a new Integration Services project and I get the following error.
Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper.PackageNeutralClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.SQLServer.DTS.Runtime.Wrapper.IDTSContainer90'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '8BDFE892-E9D8-4D23-9739-DA807BCDC2AC}' failed due to the following error: Library not registered. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8002801d (TYPE_E_LIBNOTREGISTERED)).
I did run upgrade advisior to check the existed sql 2005 standard edition to upgrade to enterprise editon. I got the following error message:
SQL Server version: 09.00.1399 is not supported by this release of Upgrade Advisor
Is it means the upgrade advisor can only work on from 7.0, 2000 to 2005? If I need check from standard to enterjprise in 2005, what kind of tool I can use?
Is it possible to connect SSRS running on SQL Server 2005 enterprise edition (our production system) to a database running on SQL Server 2005 Developer's edition (our test system)
Hi -I have istalled sql server 2005 standard edition , I want to install sql server 2005 enterprise edition on the same machine. Is it possible? I have Microsoft windows server 2003 SP2 and 1GB RAM. I want to use partition function with the enterprise edition, will the trial version of sql server work for me? -If I have already created a database and tables using the standard edition, will I be able to access and use the database using the installed trial version or will I have to start a fresh creating a new database? - Is it possible to access the same database with any of the installed versions?
BTW, I am prety new to sql server and databases , I am trying to learn by myself
Dear All,We have a database which contains many tables which have millions ofrecords. When We attach the database with MS SQL Server 2005 StandardEdition Server and run some queries (having joins, filters etc.) thenthey take very long time to execute while when We execute same querieson Enterprise Edition then they run 10 times faster than on standardedition. Our database does not use any features which are present in EnterpriseEdition and not present in Standard Edition. We want to know what arethe differences between Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition forperformance. Why should we go for Enterprise Edition when StandardEdition has all the features required. We are presently using evaluation versions of SQL Server 2005 Standardand Enterprise Editions. Thanks and regards,Nishant Sainihttp://www.simplyjava.com
I am attempting to upgrade a 2005 Standard Edtion to Enterprise Edition. This is a default instance. All components are upgraded successfully except the Database Engine. I receive the following error:
SQL Server Setup has encountered the following problem: [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]The certificate cannot be dropped because one or more entities are either signed or encrypted using it.. To continue, correct the problem, and then run SQL Server Setup again.
This installation does not have encryption enabled, so I do not undersand the error or how to correct it.
After rebooting the SQL instance appears to be upgraded to Enterprise, but it cannot be upgraded to SP2.
We have an existing installation of SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition (64bit) that we are ready to go live with and would like to change the edition to Enterprise Edition (64bit). We have purchased all the appropriate licenses. We would like to avoid UN-installing the Developer Edition and RE-installing the Enterprise Edition. There must be some way to change a registry key, provide your serial number via a command line utility or re-run the setup with the license key provided and direct it to just change the edition from Developer to Enterprise and not change any of the other settings like service account, sa account, collation, etc. Any help is most appreciated.
Current set-up: three node cluster running Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP2 with two instances of SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition SP2.
Virtual node 1: Standard Edition, default instance, Database Engine only
Virtual node 2: Standard Edition, named instance, Database Engine, Analysis Services and Integration Services
Physical node A: Prefered node for virtual node 1
Physical node B: Failover node for both virtual node 1 and 2 (thus having two installations of Standard Edition)
Physical node C: Prefered node for virtual node 2
We started off with this set-up because there was no need for Enterprise features, and SQL 2005 supports failover clustering with two nodes in Standard Edition. Saved a bundle of cash, so everybody's happy. Now we need to run a solution on virtual node 2 that requires Enterprise features in Analysis and Integration Services, so an edition upgrade is required on virtual node 2. I have done some research and found several edition upgrade examples, but none that match the above scenario. We are running production on these machines, so I can't risk experimenting with command line options, I have to be right the first time.
Is it possible to mix two editions of SQL Server 2005 in one cluster? Can I upgrade virtual node 2 to Enterprise but leave virtual node 1 at Standard? What procedure do I have to follow to upgrade all three components of virtual node 2 to Enterprise Edition on both physical node B and C?
I'd like to upgrade from my current SQL Server version: 09.00.3042 (Workgroup edition that comes with SBS upgrade) to the standard edition that I've just purchased. I've attempted to run setup.exe SKUUPGRADE=1 from the command prompt and it just tells me that there's nothing new to install.
I don't really want to uninstall the current installation just to do something that shouldn't be complicated to do, upgrading software versions should not be a difficult process.
How do I upgrade Sql Server 2005 Express to SP2 if I also have SQL Server 2005 Enterprise SP2 already on the same box? I installed Sql Server 2005 Enterprise first, then applied SP2, then installed Visual Studio 2008 (which installed SQL Server 2005 Express).
When I try to upgrade Sql Server 2005 Express to SP2 using the special Express edition of SP2, I get an error message that says "None of the selected features can be installed". I end up having to cancel the install of SP2.
I'm left with SQL Server 2005 at level 9.0.3054 and SQL Server 2005 Express at 9.0.3042. How can I bring SQL Server Express 2005 to the same level as SQL Server 2005 Entperprise?
I have a SQL Server 2005 evaluation that has already been installed and setup on a server. I believe it originally had a 180 day eval. There have been numerous databases and users added as well as maintenance plan created...
The eval was put on the machine as an interim solution while waiting for paper work and order processiing things to happen. All the paperwork and ordering... have been completed and I now have the real SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition license key ....
I am very new to SQL Server and need to determine ...
1. Can I update the eval copy to become permanently licensed?
2. Would I want to upgrade the eval to permanent? Will I lose any capabilities by keeping the current eval setup?
If it is reasonable to keep the eval setup
3. How do I go about entering the license key to make it permanent?
If it is necessary to install the new Standard Edition...
4. How do I install it while maintaining the already defined databases, data, users, maintenance plan...
Not sure if this was posted but having a hard time finding an answer. I'm currently running sql server 2000 enterprise edition on my machine and was wondering what would happen if i installed 2005 express edition and vice versa? I've found many blogs and post about compatibility issues with the 2005 Express Beta version but couldn't find any news with full version. It would be much appreciated if someone can help me out with this problem. Thanks!
Hello!! How can I upgrade from SQL Server 2005 Express Edition to SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition? I see allot of example of upgrading from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005, but no example on upgrading from SQL Server 2005 Express to SQL Server 2005 Enterprise or Standard. Is this possible?

I tried to upgrade a particular Instance (OFFICESERVERS, which was based on SQL Server 2005 Express ).
During the upgrade I get a message saying that ...

Does anybody know about this problem? Some more information about the system: W2K3 R2 Enterprise Edition WSS3.0 MOSS2007 previously installed SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (Version 9.00.2047.00)
Working on some performance issues at the database end, our team observed, that the query execution done by SQL Server 2005 was done by using only one processor in our application. The stored procedures are written in T-SQL and have a dedicated Database Server, running SQL Server 2005. Our tests lead to the following observations; SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition was executing stored procedures using only 1 processor, when it is a multiple processor Server. Apart from this the stored procedure execution is very linear. We would like to have your suggestions on the same. Regards, Girish
We have been using the 180 day evaluation version and I have my license key now for the purchased version. I read on the Microsoft site I am able to upgrade to the non-trial version without uninstalling the eval version. But it doesn't tell me HOW to do it. I was expecting a menu option, maybe on the About Screen of Management Studio to enter it. (How naive is that?) Is there a simple way to tell the Eval version I am now licensed?

I have downloaded SQLServer2005SP2-KB921896-x86-ENU.exe and attempted to update to SP2 with no success.
SQL Server 2005 Developers Edition is installed on my computer as part of a Visual Studio 2005 installation.
When I try to run this package under my admin account, I get through the Feature Selection (selecting everything) to Authentication.
When I press the Test button or the Next button, I get "Your account information could not be verified. Press Ok to return to Authentication Mode screen to determine the reason for failure. For setup to verify your credentials the services must be startable, connectable, and you must be a SQL Server administrator."
The Authentication screen shows "Database Services, MSSQLSERVER, Windows, domainusername, Service Failed to Start"
I am a novice SQL Server user, Clearly I am floundering! Any observations, advice, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I need a clean link for MSSQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition download except Microsoft site. I already downloaded from it, burned the downloaded image, but the problem is that sql.cab and some other cab files got corrupted and some components became unable to install. I tried and installed it without some components. So anybody can help me in getting a proper link.
And one more thing, i downloaded from the microsoft site itself with file size around 890MB. So give me link which works 100% or those who have tried and got 100% result.
ok, I've installed sql server, run the install samples and database, but when I go into SQL Server, the database and samples are not there. How do I connect the two?
