I would like to create a Integration Service for import a MS Access file to SQL server, and this service will be start at every night, but the MS Access data source path is different in every day, such as "c:20060201.mdb" or "c:20060202.mdb" and so on...
how can i to define the data source path on Integration Service by every night automatically.
Hello, This might be a simple thing, but I'm not able to find out the solution.
We have an application that accesses data from a SQL database. This works as long as the exe is located on the local drive of the user, however if the exe is stored on a unc path, we get the following execption thrown:
"System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.
The action that failed was: Demand The type of the first permission that failed was: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission The Zone of the assembly that failed was: Intranet"
On our developer machines we have a control panel for .net 2.0 configuration and can get it to work by setting the intranet zone to full trust. However the users don't have this control panel. 2 questions:
a) Is there a way to get this control panel on the users station?
I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 2 node cluster with SQL Server 2014 FCI installed. Data files are on a separate Windows Server 2012 R2 file server. Data files share has been permissioned to the SQL Server service and SQL Server Agent service accounts as Full Control. NTFS Permissions are Full Control.
When I try to attach a database CREATE DATABASE AdventureWorksDW2012 ON (FILENAME = 'apricotmssql_VIOLETMSSQL12.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLDATAAdventureWorksDW2012_Data.mdf') FOR ATTACHI get this error: Msg 5120, Level 16, State 101, Line 4 Unable to open the physical file "apricotmssql_VIOLETMSSQL12.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLDATAAdventureWorksDW2012_Data.mdf". Operating system error 5: "5(Access is denied.)".
If I log into the file server (called APRICOT) and look at the NTFS permissions they all look good. I have also reapplied the NTFS permissions from the root folder down.
EDIT If I log on to one of the nodes in the cluster as the SQL Server service account and navigate to apricotmssql_VIOLETMSSQL12.MSSQLSERVERMSSQLDATA and copy and paste the data file, it works fine.
EDIT2: If I log on to the file server and Enable Inheritance at the root level, then Replace all child objects with inheritable permission entries from this object, I get this error:
User Account Control settings on all nodes and the file server are set to Never notify
I'm new to sql server. Last week I made my first cube. Everything went fine. But when I want to explore the cube (from the explore panel in Visual Studio 2012) in Excel then I'm getting the error "Initialization of the data source failed".
Check your database server or contact your database administrator. Make sure the external database is available, and then try the operation again. If you see this message again, create a new datasource to connect to the database.
I'm using Sql Server 2012. Visual studio 2012. Excel 2013 on Windows 10
I am trying to setup an ODBC data source for Access. The server I'm trying to connect to is 2008 R2. I have SQL Server Management Studio installed on the computer where I'm trying to make the ODBC Data Source from. I can connect the the remote 2008 server through Management Studio, but in the ODBC wizard I do the following:
"Machine Data Source" tab, click "New" Select "User Data Source", click "Next >" Select "SQL Server", click "Next >" Click "Finish" Name: remote Description: remote Server: type the server name ie "sql.somewhere.com"
I'm trying to set up a user DSN for a MS Access database in Vista. In XP it's usually just a case of going to Admin Tools > Data Sources but I only get the option of SQL Server and SQL Native Client with Vista. I'm pretty sure I found a way of doing it a while ago by opening another version of Data Sources from the command prompt but can't for the life of me remember what it was.
I need help in creating a Data Source within SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 to connect to a Microsoft Access database. I'm sure the problem is an authentication issue, because the report works fine when previewed through Visual Studio 2005. But, through the report server browser front end I get the following error:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Query execution failed for data set 'AssignedEmployees'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand) The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file '...'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.
The Access database happens to reside on the same server as the SQL Server instance. The query that it is invoking uses tables linked to other Access databases including one that is on the same server and another that is on a completely different server. The error listed above references the database that is linked from the main Access database and that is on the same server.
I tried various things to get it to work, but what it comes down to is that I do not know the proper way to create the Data Source to an Access database from SRS (especially where the Access database links to other Access databases). Can anyone provide the steps to do this properly?
I got a package with data flow task. Within the data flow task I have flat file with Fiscal Calendar defined. I got another data source within the data flow task, which is OLE DB Source. I want to use SQL Command as data access mode. SQL similar to one the below is in there.
This SQL works fine in SSMS and returns around 6000 rows. But when I plug the same SQL in OLE DB Source it returns only the first record. It is not going through the WHILE loop.
I am not able to see the Data Source in Visual studio 2012. I have tried several things like 'Alt + shift + D' which is meant to bring up the datasource tab but it does not. I have also looked in view->Other windows but its not displayed there.
I'm creating a SSIS in the designer view of SQL Server BI Dev. Studio (SQL Server 2005)
I need to import a whole table from MS Access into my local SQL Server.(this task will be performed weekly, so once working I'll schedule a job for it)
I've created a 'FILE' connection to MS Access in the 'Connection Managers'.
When I'm on the 'Data Flow' tab I can't find a Data Flow Item to use as a MS Access connection. (available on the 'Data Flow Sources' are only: DataReader, Excel, Flat File, OLE DB, Raw File and XML Sources)
Well I'm hoping I'm asking this in the right place. But probrably not. I am using VB2005 express and have Access 2007 beta. When I try to add a new data source VB is looking for a .mdb database type. However Access 2007 beta uses .accdb. I'm not sure how to get these two talking since in the vb drop down boxes all it list is a connection on access with .mdb and all files. When I try all files and pick the accdb data I get the "Couldn't connect with data sorce c:blahblah/bills.accdb.mdb. This an error or am I just totally off the mark? Any help would be appreciated.
I have a question about ssrs security. In report manager I have set a list of users as browsers, and the builtin administrators are content manager in the parent folder where reports are. A user that is not an administrator and neither a user I added, has access to reports.
I'm thinking this person is having access because the data source of the reports use a administrator account to connect to the analysis services  using the option Credentials stored securely in the report server with the 2 checkboxes marked (use as windows credentials when connecting to the data source and impersonate the authenticated user).
I simply marked this option because SSRS is in 1 server and SSAS in other and I think kerberos need to be configured and I haven't looked into it, but I think the report access is separated from the data source.
We have a job running the SSIS Package. I am working with that SSIS Package. The SSIS package has a script task. In the script task they used the variable of source path. I want to change the value of that variable (Need to modify the source path).
I modified the variable value in that package and in the config file but getting error message
Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
I'm developing a Custom Report Item and would like to fill my properties dialog in design mode with real data. I have the name of the data source and the command text for the corresponding report dataset, read from the report design.
Is it possible to create an ado.net dataset so that I can display and use real data in my properties dialog box? First problem I have is to get the connection string from the data source string. I found no docs for that, especially the Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataExtensions.ReportDataSource class is not documented. Am I on the right way with that?
I'm running EM on my local box and sql server on a remote internetaccessed box.How do I specify a file path for a DTS package to access files on theremote box?For example, to run a local dts package the filepath isc:filepathfile.txt.How would I change the file path/name to allow the dts package toaccess files on the same remote machine?-Dave
I have just downloaded an evaluation version of SQL server from the microsoft website and installed it in my PC.
Now I want to create file data source.
I followed these steps: -From the control panel, ODBC datasource admin -click the DSN tab -click the add button -select the sql server driver, enter the data source file name -enter "local" in the server text box as I installed the sql server in my standalone PC. -click next After that I had this error. "Connection failed. SQL server does not exist or access denied."
But The sql server service is running.
Can anyone help me where did my configuration go wrong?? Thanks...
I am try to transfer some tables data from one database server into another database server. I create a package in SSIS, and I use a variable to pass each table name. In Data flow, I use a OLEDB Source, but I cannot set the Data access mode to Table name or view name variable. Ever time, I will get this following error info "===================================
Error at Data Flow Task [OLE DB Source [31]]: A destination table name has not been provided.
(Microsoft Visual Studio)
===================================
Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0202042 (Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap)

Some one can tell me what is the reason, or give me some examples.
We are running Reporting Services 2008 R2 on a Windows Server 2008 Standard 64-Bit server. I have a user that has full access to Reporting Services at all folder levels but IS NOT a local administrator on the 2008 server.
This user can create data source connections but when he tries to test the connection by clicking on the 'Test Connection' button, he gets the following error "The permissions granted to user <username> are insufficient for performing this operation.A user that has administrator priveleges on the server can test the connection fine.Â
I don't want to make this user an administrator on the server.Â
This is an extract from the log file:

Hello! Please help me. I want to know, what i do wrong or may be samewhere documentation is describe this situation:

i get this error message [OLE/DB provider returned message: The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file ''. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.] OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' ICommandText::Execute returned 0x80004005: ]. I have created a package that works just fine from my desktop. I am now testing it by deploying it to the server. The task was imported into the "File System" store. I connected to the SQL Server, from my desktop, with SSMS. I right clicked the package and selected "Execute" If I just validate the task, it validates without errors. When I go to run the task I get a "Access to the path is denied" error at the start of the first file system task. I am sure it is a permission issue. Based on the info from another thread in the forum:
"Security to network shares is dependent on the user who is running the package. If you are running it yourself, make sure you have permissions to the share. If you are running it from SQL Agent, you might need to use a proxy account (search for SQL Agent Proxy in Books Online) to access it."
I have some questions:
1. When I select "execute" what account is SQL Server using for permissions for accessing network folders? Is it mine, SQL Server Agent, something else? If it is my account, why would I get an "Access to the path is denied" error?
2. I don't understand how to use a proxy account, or even if I need one. I assume that when I set the task for scheduling I'll need one. I read the BOL pages, but I'm still confused as to what I need to set up.
I am getting the message Access to the path 'C:Windowssystem32config' is denied when working with a report model in SQL 2005 BIDS. My OS is Vista SP1. I launch BIDS with "run as administrator". My account is part of the administrator group. I get the error when I am trying to add an identifying attribute to a report mode entity; specifically, I get the message when I try to add a member (the identifying attribute). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
We use NLB + ISA , Win2003/SP1 + Reporting Services 2005
We use host name URL to access Reporting Serives reports, like http://www.hostname.com/Reportserver?rc%3aParameters=false&%2MyReports%2f....
When reports have grouping , the drill down images(+/-) and links failed to be displayed. We checked the HTML source code and found, instead of the reative path, the image/link URLs are using FULL path and using IP address, like http://10.102.40.55/Reportserver/.....
Because the company policy do not allow use IP to access reports , those drill down images and links failed to be displayed.
How can I configure Reporting Service to use host name or relative path for the drill down images and links.
PS:
We have changed the <UrlRoot> in rsreportserver.config and <ReportServerUrl> in rsWebApplication.config to use host name, but no worked.
, Hi In this code how can I create a new data source and new data source view and model and structure that it run dynamic. In this code I have a lot of errors, that they are about server and database don€™t have in current code, In this code, first I should definition server or no?
How can I create data source and data source view and model and structure? Please say code of that, and guide me. databasename and srv is unknown. Do I add other reference with analysis services? Please explain about these codes: ************************************************************************ 1) RelationalDataSource dsNew = new RelationalDataSource( datasourceName, Utils.GetSyntacticallyValidID( datasourceName, typeof(RelationalDataSource)));
I have set up a new connection as a connection from data source, but I cannot see how to use this connection to create my Data Flow Source. I have tried using an OLE DB connection, but this is painfully slow! The process of loading 10,000 rows takes 14 - 15 minutes. The same process in Access using SQL on a linked table via DSN takes 45 seconds.
Have I missed something in my set up of the OLE DB source / connection? Will a DSN source be faster?
Hi, I have a generally well working silent installer of SQL Server sp1, that installs a named of SQL Express then runs some create database scripts on it.
I have a customer for whom this fails. It appears that the SQL server service does not start. When I tell the client (non-computer literate!) to start it manually through Admin Tools>Service, a message appears saying "Access to the path denied", and seemingly doesn't specify the path of the denial.
Has anyone encountered this, or is anyone able to hazard a guess as to the cause of this issue.
When the package is deployed to my local machine, it executes without error.
When it is deployed to a remote server on the same domain (2012), I get an error:
Access to the path mydomainmyfileshare is denied.
The report log show that the caller is mydomainsvclogin. I added some informational logging of my own and I see that the variable System::UserName is also mydomainsvclogin
I logged on to windows as mydomainsvclogin and verified that I can modify/delete/change files on mydomainmyfileshare
On older packages, I used credentials and proxy accounts to set up access to domain resources.
How do you specify the account (a domain account) that will access domain resources in an SSIS 2012 package ?
I'm trying to let certain users execute an SSIS package through an SP in SQL.
I've set up a proxy account for xp_cmdshell that the other users will use to execute dtexec with, but i get this message:
Could not load package "File SystemCODA_Actuals" because of error 0x80070005. Description: Access to the path 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90DTSPackagesCODA_Actuals.dtsx' is denied.
When i log onto the server with the proxy account, i can navigate to that folder and open the package.
When try to execute it from the command shell: dtexec /DTS "File SystemCODA_Actuals" /Decrypt "password" /Reporting E /SET Package.Variables[User::JobId].Value;25'
i get the same message. How come? How do i fix this? I've read somewhere that i should grant read to the package store to that user , how do i do that? Can't find that option in the tools or manuals.
hi everybody, i want to create data source and data source view for data mining, with using C Sharp. i have create data source and data source view and export to XML file, but when i change to another computer, run those XML file, it return error, when i run statement to create and biuld mining model, what can i change on xml or how to run XML on another computer sucessfully, and have i build data source and data source view, how to do it.?
Today I was making a few reports. When I tested the reports in Visual Studio, they worked great: I got the expected result. But when I deployed the reports to our reportserver the problem started. When I click on the directory in which my reports are deployed, I got my 4 reports. Till now everything worked correct. But when I click on a report to view the results it went wrong. I got an error: "Cannot create a connection to data source 'Live'" (Live is the name of our data source).
We are using the Windows Logons and I am sure that I have all the rights on the server, I gave myself 'sysadmin' rights, so it should work. I also have tried it with all the roles assigned on my account, but then it still won't work.
When I modify the data source, and set it to another server en database it works. The datasource 'Live' exists on a x64 MsSQL server, en the other datasource is on a x86 MsSQL server. Maybe that is the problem?
