Setting Up Email Notification In Sql Server Mgmt
Mar 6, 2007within sql server management studio... we have set up a few sql scripts to run at 2am every night (sql server agent > under jobs)... although it has been successful each night, we'd like to setup sql server agent to automatically email success and failure notifications to our email boxes.
i see under the properties of sql server agent > jobs > properties of a job > there is section that says Notifications but then it doesnt really have a place to type in which email we want to send them to? some reading material or instructions greatly appreciated

I have several data driven subscriptions successfully running on my server, but have been having problems setting up a standard subscription. The subscription appears to be successfully created in the Reports Manager interface, I can see the schedule job set up in SQL Server, and in the job history the subscription apparently runs with no errors. However if I look on the Reports Manager interface there is nothing in the "Last Run" column and no report email is received. When I check the Reporting Services logs I can see the following:

These errors occur at the time I set up the subscription (not the scheduled execution time). I can run the job manually "Start job at step..." in SQL Management Studio and the report is sent/received. I have seen a few posts similar to this but as yet haven't seen anyone resolve this problem. Can anyone help me?

what I want to achieve is to load a text file that has email addreses from disk and using the email addresses in the text file look it up against the email addresses in the database table then once matched delete all the users in the table whose email address were in the text file.
I also want to update some users using a different text file.

I also created a SystemDSN on the SQL Server to connect to the Sybase server. I tested the connection and it was able to connect.

I know that xp_sendmail can be used if a mail server, such as MS Exchange Server is available and SQL Server is set up as an e-mail client. However is there a way to send mail to the outside world without the use of a mail server? (Perhaps there is a third party product or extended stored procedure that can give me this ability?)

Setting Back Up Sql Server Express And The Sql Server Management Studio
Apr 19, 2007I am having a nightmare of a time with my Sql Server 2005 Express. My computer crashed on Friday the 13th - of course. I saved all my files onto another drive and wiped out C: I brought everything back in but I started a new file for my Visual Basic projects. After asking questions I found this was a major no-no So I brought my original folder back in. This solved some of my problems I was having with Visual Studio and Visual Web, but I am continuing to have problems with Sql Server. I will explain these two problem they may be related, I don't know. When I run my Visual Website on a server I get this message:
An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file(then my file name)failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.
And my second problem is when I attempt to run Sql Server Management Studio Express I get this error message:
There is no editor available for (then my file name) .mdf
Make sure the application for file type(.mdf)is installed.

I want SQL Server Agent automatically run every morning at 1:00 AM, check against "remindWHEN" date, if match with current date, send out email to "remindWHO" for what they need to do in "remindWHAT"
I was told this can be done by using the "Jobs" feature under SQL Server Agent to do this, but I don't know how to write Transact-SQL-Script under "Job Step".

So I have planned to make a storedproce which will be called by a job (which will select some record from one table and put it in other table based on a flag) but I want to run it in a transaction so that if email is send successfully then only it should commit else it should rollback.
How can i find that "Mail queued" now i should commit.
