The specified object_name ('Databases') does not exist.
Specifically, we are trying to create a database alert on percent log used that will kick off a job to back up the log.
We are on Windows 2012R2 o/s. In the drop downs in SSMS under alerts, we do not have all the options we have in the stand alone instance - they are not there. Is this a bug? Is there a CU?

May 27, 2015If you have your Data, Logs, System and TempDB all in VMDK's and those VMDK's are formatted to 64K and then reside on Clustered Storage that is formatted as 4K, which is then running through a SAN controller that is reading and writing in 2MB chunks, is there value in formatting the SQL drives as 64K? Also, would it be better to format the Clustered Storage as 64K? Is this a situation in which formatting the SQL drives as 64K is becoming a moot point?

Nov 23, 2015We have 2 clustered SQL instances (2 physical servers in each cluster). Instance2 needs to be setup as a linked server on Instance1.
At this time port 1433 between them is not open. I am referring to the port on the network switch, not in the Windows Firewall (ports in Windows Firewall are already open).
Is opening the port between virtual IP-s sufficient? Or does port need to be open between all physical source/destination IP-s as well?

I changed port 1433 to 1435 I was able to connect to the instance using SSMS on another server. Now I have to enter Servername,1435 to make a connection.Why does the SQL Browser not resolve the servername to the right IP address and port 1435? Why am I not able to make a connection when I enter the servername or <servername>MSSQLSERVER? Is a SQL Browser only resolving named instances?This works fine for a named instance. Sep 22, 2015I have a named sql instance on SQL 2012. The issue is that the clients is having problem connecting to it when the firewall is on, this is not consistent. The connection is fine when I disabled the firewall. When I turned the Windows firewall back on, it will work for awhile and it fails. I checked the SQL configuration manager and saw that a dynamic port is assigned to the named instance. I did put that in the firewall rule and unblock it. I also put TCP 1433 and 1434 as well as the browser service port, TCPUDP 2382 and it still didn't work.What is the best way to determine what port does the named instance are listening?

The server has 32 GB of RAM, currently the process usage for first instance is 26 GB and second instance is 700 MB.
Which mean that SharePoint DBs in the first instance is consuming most of the RAM.
My question is there any way to assign a fixed RAM usage for a specific instance without affecting the other instance?
for example 16 GB only first instance and 16 GB to second instance.
SQL 2012 :: Clustered SSAS Unable To Connect To Named Instance (instance Not Found On Server)
Mar 20, 2014I have a 3 node cluster on which I have installed SSAS as it's own insntance. I have created this as a named instance and can connect to it by serverinstance if I'm on the server itself. However from my desktop I get the error saying instance was not found on server name.
I have defined an alternate port and setup firewall rules and can connect via server:port but not serverinstance. Prior to making this change SSAS was running on default port of 2383 and I could connect just by servername.
I have read many articles for previous versions saying that clustered SSAS will always use 2383 and that you must connect just using servername. However and this is were it gets strange. I have a 2 node UAT cluster with SSAS setup exactly the same way I've described above and I can connect from my desktop as serverinstance.
Should I be able to connect as serverinstances for a named clustered instance in 2012 ?

Now, the same card number with additional $50 dollars that I want to add to this card number to make the total to become $150. This additional $50 is from another transaction table. On the contrary, I will have -$20 from the same card number in different transaction that I will need to deduce $150-$20 to become $130. How can I update the card number table with debit/credit transactions to keep the outstanding balance?

Replication Of SQL Server In Clustered Environment
Aug 9, 2006We are running 2 SQL Server and both run in failover clustered Environment.
The Problem is now we need to Replicate a Database from one Virtual SQL Sever to the other.
The Second one (clusterd environment)is stroing their database localy while the First One (clustered environment)is storing database in a shared storage.
Note that Both Server are used for sperate purpose , but we now need to set replication on the Other Clustered Setup for Reporting Purpose.
Will it work if we configure replication from One SQL Server Clustered Setup to the Other Clstered Setup.
If yes, then please let me know how it can be done ?

Urgent!! - SQL Server Failing On A Clustered Environment -

Yesterday, our server 'failed over' to the passive node in our clustered environment. We are running Windows NT, with MSSQL 7.0. What triggered the fail over, according to the logs, was an error in tempdb. Basically, the error said that tempdb could not be expanded, (could not create any more space for tempdb).
The drive that tempdb database is located on has more than enough room. The tempdb is set at 300M, and can grow to over 700M. The drive that tempdb is on
has over 19Gig of space on it.
One other important piece of information is that the drive where our production database is on and the tempdb is quite full. The 19 gig that is left over represents only about 5 percent of the disk.
Can anyone shed some light on why the sql server would have failed over when trying to expand tempdb, when there was sufficient resources to handle that growth? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Could this be another error? When we restarted the server (both nodes and the disk array) the production database came back as suspect. Most of the stuff in BOL points to the space issue. The production database is around 37 gig.
Any help would be appreaciated

Uninstalling SQL Server 2005 64-bit In Clustered Environment
May 20, 2008I am running into an issue trying to uninstall SQL Server 2005 64-bit. It hangs at the same point: Removing backup files. I then get a message that, "The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Completing Commit. The error is: The cluster resource cannot be moved to another group because other resources are dependent on it." The instance that I am trying to uninstall is in a cluster hosting two other SQL Server installations. I have tried a few combinations when attempting to uninstall: running the cluster group containing the server I am uninstalling on a different cluster node than all the other cluster groups; running them all on the same node. The only one I haven't tried is moving the Cluster Group containing the IP address of the cluster, cluster name, etc to another node while running the other groups on the other node. Has anyone run into this issue? Each of the nodes has been rebooted several times during these attempts and we are using Windows Server 2003 Clustering. Again, the hang happens at the same point every time. The exact error(s) from the even log are as follows:

Setup And Upgrade :: Activity Monitor Shuts Down If Connect To Instance Its Monitoring With Performance Monitor
Aug 19, 2015If I'm on a remote machine, meaning a computer not in the WSFC cluster, and I open SSMS 2014, point it to a SQL Instance, and open activity monitor:
1. I get all the panes and charts except % Processor Time.
2. Then, if I authenticate to the cluster's domain by mapping a drive with valid domain credentials, I'm free to put performance counters in the Perfmon - - - but SQL Activity Monitor shuts down with“The Activity Monitor is unable to execute queries against server SQL-V01INSTANCE1..Activity monitor for this instance will be placed into a paused state.Use the context menu in the overview pane to resume the activity monitor.
Additional information: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))(Mscorlib)”
3. Of course, the Activity monitor can't be resumed via the context menu. Removing counters and closing the perfmon do not work. I dropped the mapped drive and rebooted the machine. That brought back 95% of the information in the Activity monitor.
4. Further experimentation showed that any mapping of drive shares present on the SQL Server to the computer running SSMS cut off functionality of the 'overview' pane in the remote machine's SQL Activity monitor -- the monitor that had been trying to watch the server offering the shares.

Apr 24, 2015I am running a number of SQL instances on my PC. Within the network, I have think server with various System Center components. For compatibility reasons, some features of System Center 2012 R2 had to be delegated to different SQL databases. My question is, because there is now more than one IP address on my system, and each instance of SQL is assigned to its own IP, is there a way to setup DNS and SQL so the namespace points to the desired IP address? For Instance:
MSSQL2008 instance is set to run on = 11.12.13.1
MSSQL2012 is set to run on = 11.12.13.2
IN DNS:
A Record: Mike-PC = 11.12.13.1
A Record: Mike-PC = 11.12.13.2
If I want to use MSSQL2008 by specifying Mike-PC as the DNS name, how would I do that with 100% accuracy? If there is another way to get the job done, I am more than willing to approach this differently.
Clustered SQL Server 2000 To 2005 Upgrade
Jun 12, 2007I would like to upgrade a production active/passive SQL Server 2000 cluster to SQL Server 2005.
I've read all of the documentation I could find, and doing an in-place upgrade seems to be the way to go. (Despite the fact it scares the hell out of me.
But throughout all the documentation, I've yet to see some simple and fairly important questions answered.
How does the process of upgrading SQL Server work when you're dealing with a cluster?
Do you upgrade one machine then the other? If so, do you upgrade the active node first, or the passive node?
What happens if you're forced to failover from one instance to the other before you've had a chance to upgrade both to 2005? In other words, you failover from 2005 to 2000. Would that even work?
What happens if your upgrades fails for some reason? Is it easy to rollback the installation? If not, will reinstalling SQL Server 2000 cause any issues? Will it remember the previous configuration and simply fix the broken install?
Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.
