I have an old sharepoint db (SQL Server 2000 Standard edition). What I need to try to recover is the data in log backup files from the docs table. I need to see if there is a way to get any data in the log backups from columns dirname, leafname and content. The column content is an image type which old documents (word, excel...). I don't have a full log chain since the last full restore so any data I can get out of the logs is better than nothing. I really just need to get the image files stored in the column content and place them in a shared directory for the users and let them see what they can use.
I missed the ability to restore based on a time (10/23 6pm) due to our purge cycle in our production environment, but I was able to obtain the 10/18 full backup, the 10/23 differential backup, and the 4, 10/23 trans. log backups. I moved all the fore mentioned files to a staging environment, and now I am trying to restore all of the files to 10/23 6pm and I get :
"The log or differential backup cannot be restored because no files are ready to rollforward" error.
I have to install several AG on a cluster for a whole SharePoint production farm, it's a nice to have (1 AG for Search database, 1 AG for Profil database, 1 AG for Content database, 1 for applicatif, etc...) We have 2 Front End load balanced, 1 application server and 3 SQL HADR: 2 nodes on synchrone (sql 2014 enterprise licence) and the 3rd asynchrone (standard licence).
The SharePoint farm is configured with the SQL Alias on the primary node, then if there is a failover on node 1, I must move the sql Alias to the second node manualy, unless I'd configured this Alias to point on the AG listener of the availability group in order to use the automatic failover. But as we have several AG, should I create one listener per each AG?
And which AG listener should I have to configure on the SQL Alias then ?
I have a situation where I have two servers in SQL Server 2012 R2 AlwaysOn Availability Group. One is primary and the other one being secondary. I am only running SharePoint Database on it.I have run out of space on the primary server and about to run out of space at the secondary server. I have tried shrinking database transaction log files, but it returns an error that it cannot be shrunk as the database is in the AlwaysOn Availability Group.
Questions: 1. Several forums suggest that databases need to taken out of AlwaysOn Availability Group in order for the shrinking to work properply? 2. Would it have any impact on the database if it is taken out of availability group and then added back?
I think theres something I'm missing about AG listeners. My test config is 1 SharePoint WFE & 2 SQL servers configured in an AAG.WFE, SQL1 & SQL2 servers are all on the same subnet. On the WFE, I configured an alias called SP15 to be used for the SQL servers. If I failover from SQL1 to SQL2 I just need to change where the alias is pointing on the WFE. So why do I need a listener? This works fine, albeit manually.I have read on some posts that an automatic failover process is possible. How can I add a 2nd IP address to the listener when both SQL servers are on the same subnet? The GUI doesn't seem to allow this.
I have a database that is just over 1.5GB and the Full backup that is 13GB not sure how this is since we have compression on for full backups and my other full backups are much smaller than there respective databases...Now my full backup is taken every Sunday night and the differentials are taken every 6 hours after the full backup. Now I have been thrown into this DBA role with little to no experience just what I have picked up and read. So my understanding of backups are limited but what I think I understand is that we take a full backup and the differential only captures what changes in the database so my question is why is my database 1.5GB but my differential is 15.4GB? I have others database that are on the same instance and don't seem to have this problem. I also just noticed that we do not rebuild the index before a full backup like we do on other instances...
I am looking for sql code/approach to export a text file and 2 excel works sheets(from an excel workbook) in a folder, to 3 different tables in sql server, perform data scrubbing and then export the data from all 3 tables to 3 different excel sheets and post them in 3 different web parts in a share point site.
Mainly sql code(or any code that i can integrate with SQL Server) to post files to different web parts in a share point site is what i am looking for.
Any sort of pointers/suggestions would be really helpful.
I know this is not SQL server related. Do anyone know good Third-party tools to backup sharepoint 2007? I have looked at www.avepoint.com and ideras tools but didn't find price listings. I am looking which has reasonable price and efficient. Only xpurt ownly
I have installed SharePoint Services 3.0 and have problems with backup.

Have tried with stsadm.exe but is stops (below are last three lines from CMD)
It works remotely if I run it via command prompt. But when I add this to a TSQL job on my remote SQL instance, it runs without deleting anything. What I'm missing?
I've a serious problem. After a crash of one of my disk I loose all the data about the SQL Server db but I've the mdf and ldf files because were placed on another hard disk different from the SQL Serve Installation disk. I reinstalled the Sql Server (in a new path, a new hard disk letter) but I don't know how to rebuild the db starting from the mdf/ldf files. Is it possible?
I've written a custom script to delete backup files from location. But unable to modify now to count the number of files are deleted. How to modify the script...
/* Script to delete older than N days backup from a specific directory */
USE [db_admin] GO IF OBJECT_ID('usp_DeleteBackup', 'P') IS NOT NULL DROP PROC usp_DeleteBackup GO
I was assigned a project to make a backup of data from 3 lists in a sharepoint with the objective of using that data to do reports on it using Report Builder.
I was abble to do the downloads using the add in to do downloads Sharepoint List Source and Destination "plug in" in SSIS, now the issue is how to update the backup table only with updated and new rows. Daniel
hello, (this was originally posted in Administration Forum)
I am helping out with a disaster recovery of a database and i was given 4 files. 2 MDF and 2 LDF files. When I try to attach the files to SQL Server I recieve this err msg:
Server: Msg 823, Level 24, State 6, Line 1 I/O error (torn page) detected during read at offset 0000000000000000 in file 'E:chivirtualGPS0Dat.mdf'. Connection Broken
I then tried many other combinations hoping something would work --> tried individual files, just data files, tried to create a new DB and then switching/replacing out with the files i needed...etc, nothing seems to work for me. The people I am trying to help out do NOT have backups.
1. I want some help regarding sql server 7.0.I had taken database backup (complete). And tried to restore in another machine. It restored successfully. But it does not create any logins/users. But it has some objects owned by user A If i create login as A and assigning default database, it is giving error and saying the user/role is already existing. Before restoring also i created login and after restoring I tried to assign the default database, but failed. I chaged the objects owner and tried again, still it is saying the user/role is existing. Can you suggest the solution.
2. I had backup of a database of SQL server 6.5. If i tried to restore on SQL Server 6.5/7.0, it is giving error, and saying it is not valid file. Any solution
Hi Guys, Well. I'm new to SQL server and appreciate your help on a problem.... Is the database mirroring possible in SQL server 2000. as in Oracle.
ie. I've the data file and a old log file (dated 3-04-2004), and ofource the backup file of the same date.
Now if my hard disk is creashed yesterday, will I be able to restore the database with the help of the data file which is updated till yesterday.
I can fo this in oracle. I create another database and then swap it's control files and data file that of the old one( the one which I need to restore). then i change the password file and boom i get everything upto date.
Hi, I am new to sql server2005. How to take a backup, restore&recovery operation in sql server 2005. Question No 1: If i drop my "customer" table how can i get it back? In oracle we will get back the table with the help of incomplete recovery.
Question No 2: How to connect as a user? How to give the grant privilege to the particular user?
i am upgrading 2000 to 2005 databases i upgrade using backup and recovery method to do this.
If 2000 database contains many databases i have to upgrade each database at one time using the bakup file Is there a way to upgrade all my 2000 databases in one shot using backup and recovery.
Are there any steps, we have to follow while restoring Database.
Ex :I have Full backup (week end backup),every day I have Diff backup and every hour I have Trnbackup If system has crahed how to restore Databse(I don't have any chanse to do any thing with system)
I have two databases on a Production Server that I want to Log Ship to a Test Server. According to the sys.master files the physical File Location is on an E drive. Early attempts at Log Shipping these two files error'd out due to space issues on the E drive (one Log Shipped and then one err'd out). I was subsequently informed from the server group that they would prefer that I Log Ship these two database files over to the M Drive where more space is available. In fact, they modified the Server Properties / Database Settings / Database Default Locations (for Data and Log) to the larger M drive (I'm not really sure why they just don't increase the E drive space but there is proabably a good reason).
Okay, so now my problems have been solved. Easy enough. Now I deleted the successful Log Shipped database and started from scratch. However, as before, one db restored and one failed (due to space issues). Apparently, both db are pointing towards the E drive. How is that possible?
So here I am with one successful database and the normal sys databases pointing to the E drive. What is the best way of approaching this move to the larger and preferred M drive?
Hi, I know SQLLiteSpeed is one best tool for MSSQL server Backup Recovery. And also I wanted know that the top 5 best tools for MSSQL server Backup/Recovery.
every sunday 12 am fullback up. for every 6 hours differential backup. every 15 min t log back up.
If my server crashes at wednesday 3.30 pm
my restore order is fullbackup on sunday, last differential backup (wednesday 12pm) and the t logs from last full backup or t-log backups from latest differebntail backup
I have doubt after restoring the latest differentail backup we have to restore all t log backups from fullbackuop or all tlog backup from latest diff backup. Which order we have to follow
Hi gurus,May be my question is funny to all of you guys but I don't know why wehave to keep the backup and recovery history of databases in msdb. Itry to read BOL & other documents but no clue. Thanks a bunch

My question is I lost my data between 9:15 to 9:30 . in those time i will do some transactions. Then how to recover my data even with out lasing single transactions.
I have a client with no backup of MASTERdb or Help_rev_devices, all I have is a couple of .dmp's of the production data. In order to run DISK REINIT I need to know the size of the database, is there any way of finding out the size of the database device, if all you have to go with is a backup dump file?
