Hello i am doing my final project in my University and i have chosen to do a beta my university portal.I am facing a problem because i don't know how to link students with his specific data when he logs in to the site for example i want to show his specific grades when he logs in or anything else that is related to himand this is what i am using to show the grades with the use of data grid 1 SELECT Student.StudentiId, Student.StudentName, Student.StudentSurname, Course.Course, Exams.Datewritten, Exam.Exam, Exams.Grade2 FROM Student 3 INNER JOIN 4 Exams 5 ON Student.StudentiId = Exams.Studentid 6 INNER JOIN 7 Course 8 ON Exams.Courseid = Course.Courseid 9 INNER JOIN10 Exam 11 ON Exams.Examid = Exam.Examid; I am very confused since i dunno how to do thisShould i need to relate the asp.net membership database with mine?P.S my vb.net skills are low Here is my database Schema
Is it possible to display only the first few words of a block of text with a "Show More" link at the end, which when clicked would expand the block to show all content?

I would like to run some queries on two tables that reside in two different database (located on the same server). The databases are both MS SQL 2000.How do I create a database link (or a table link??) so that I can create the queries from the Enterprise Manager or the Query Analyzer? Thanks a lot, Christian
I want to create link with 2 servers is that possible to do that. for example is like this, ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SELECT Products.ProductID, Products.ProductName, Products.CategoryID, Categories.CategoryName FROM [SERVER1].[Northwind].[dbo].[Products] INNER JOIN [SERVER2].[Northwind].[dbo].[Categories] ON [Products].[CategoryID] = [Categories].[CategoryID]
HI.. I have two database one on my local system and othe on remote .but this time both are on local system . Now i want to transfer some data from my local database to remote one . so for that reason i want to use Link server But I am unable to create that and use it . both database are on SQL 2005.
And I am not sure about link server whether it can solve or no.
Give me some link and some details information about the use .in asp.net with c#.
sql commmand i have used to createthe link server
USE [webvidya]; GO EXEC sp_addlinkedserver 'dsd', N'SQL Server' GO SELECT * FROM [vidya].[ASPNET].[db_owner].[institute]
I just downloaded SQL 2005 and SQL Express. I'm not seeing SQL Express in my Program files yet when I open SQL server configuration manager it AND SQL Server 2005 Services it says it's running. SQL Server Browser is NOT.
Im writing a program in ASP language which it is using SQL Server for database.
I want to know how to create a link between fields of two tables. For example: I have a table named: Projects containing: p_name status date member1 member2
and another table named results containing: p_name s_status status1 status2
I want to create a link between field s_status of STATUS table and field status of table Projects
Users are sending data to table projects, when a user send some data to status of projects, I want this link to send data from status in project to s_status of results.
I have a column of data on my report that contains an email address. Is it possible to format this so that the person running the report can just click on the link and have that action launch their email program...like Outlook?
I'm working on a newly installed windows 2012 R2 server which has SQL Server 2012 and SSMS installed on it. What has been odd is that when I open the "restore database" dialog, in the "Select Backup Devices", "Locate Backup File" dialog, only the immediate folders off of the root of the E: drive are visible. E: is where sql server data and backup files are stored.
The account I am logged in with is supposed to have Enterprise Admin rights. How is can I not see these folders and files? The files are certainly there and are visible to me on that login with windows explorer. I am able to backup via SSMS without issue.
When I look at the folder's permissions everything seems normal. If I add "Everyone" to that folder's permissions the folders and files become visible. The SQL Server service is running on the NT ServiceMSSQLSERVER account, which is normal for my other installations of sql server.
I have a problem related to create or show relationship digram in sql server 2005. Especially, I want to show relationship diagram that I established in sqlserver 2000 in sql server 2005 but I can't and I don't how to do it.
I am trying to script a case when to achieve the following.
I have a table of measures with certain threshold. The threshold direction can either be > or < so I want to create a field that shows if the measure hits that threshold or not to be later picked up in SSRS. So a nested case when?
CASE WHEN M.[Threshold Direction] = '>' THEN CASE WHEN A.[Value] > M.[Threshold] THEN 'GREEN' CASE WHEN A.[Value] < M.[Threshold] THEN 'RED' ELSE '' END END END AS 'Condition'Is this at all possible?
I have created an Access2003 project (existing data) that links to external data. First I connected to a SQL Server 2000 database. Success. Then I tried to set up a Transact SQL data connection to a legacy MDW-secured Access97 database. (A third-party VB6 application goes against it, and we don't have the source code, so we cannot upgrade it.)
The Transact SQL link tests OK but I cannot select any of the tables or queries from the list presented. However, with the same credentials, I can use these same objects in Excel 2003.
When setting up the link in Access2003, I specify JET 4.0 OLE DB Provider, I enter the MDW file on the All tab, a username and a password on the Connection tab where I browse to the MDB file, and specify Shared Deny None on the Advanced tab. When I test the connection, it tests OK ("Test connection succeeded"). Yet on the "Select the Database and Table/Cube which contains the data you want" dialog, "(Default)" appears in the grayed-out dropdown. Then, beneath that dropdown, there is a grid with Name and Description columns. The grid contains query names but the grid is not enabled. The list of queries is this table is grayed out. Neither of the scrollbars works.
BUT... if I use the SAME username and password in Excel2003, and specify the same MDW, there is no problem working with these same database objects in the legacy Access97 database. WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE WIZARD IN EXCEL THAT ALLOWS IT TO SUCCEED AND THE WIZARD IN ACCESS THAT CAUSES IT TO FAIL HERE? In Excel, the list of available providers says Microsoft Access Driver, not JET 4.0 OLE DB Provider.
When trying to link to an SQL table in Access 2003, the software appears to be malfunctioning.
The sequence of events is File - Get External Data - Link Tables - Files of Type: ODBC Databases().
The Problem: On two of my computers, the select data source window does not pop up, preventing me from linking to any ODBC data source.
Observations: This function has worked normally in the recent past and works on other computers running Access 2003. One difference between the computers working and non-working computers is Norton Antivirus 2006 (recent upgrade).
Has anyone experienced anything like this? What's going on?
I try to add multiple files to a raw files. I use a loop for it and set the write option to "create once", so that the file should be created when the package is started and files are appended as they flow to the destination... However I always get an error when I try to add the second file that the raw file already exists... Well, I expect that it exists but I don't expect this error because that's not the intended behaviour!
Is there anything I also have to do to use the raw file as it's described in BOL?
I have several reports in a Power View Gallery. In Gallery view, most of the reports show the "Open New Excel Workbook", the "Create Power View Report", and the "Manage Data Refresh" buttons on the right side of the report list. Why would some reports not have these buttons available? In the attached image you can see one report with the buttons and one without the buttons.
I need to get a list of customer ids and then use them as a parameter to select from a transaction table and then create a file for each customer. I have used an execute SQL task to get the list of customers and have put the result set into a variable.
How do go through the recordset to create a file for each customer?
I have an SSIS package that creates a new file and saves results into that file. However, the requirement has it that I need to create this file on a server residing in a different domain. How can I achieve this in an SSIS package when it is scheduled as a job?
I need to create about 1,000 (literately) Excel files that each contain 5 tabs. The data being placed on the tabs will always be the same (meaning the columns are static). I am fairly advanced at Excel VBA so I can write code that does all the following in Excel (looped 1,000 times):
Open an Excel template
Bring data in from the tables
Filter, then copy-paste the appropriate rows into each tab.
Save the new Excel file.
Email the file to appropriate individual (it is a Microsoft Exchange Server). As I started this in VBA, I thought that I might be able to do it with SSIS. My concern is I need to have the rows formatted (font, border, etc.) and the number of rows change.
My questions are: Is it possible to format Excel with SSIS? Can I email the files even if it is not with an SMTP protocol? Would SSIS process this data faster then Excel? Does this approach even make sense? Am I better just doing it with VBA?
I created a SSIS solution for reading data from dbase and storing them in SQL Server. In a ForEachDirectory-Loop up to one thousand dbase files are read and stored. The system where the packages are running has 16 GB RAM. For the first few hundred dbase files everything goes fine, but then, the RAM seems not to suffice any more and a temp file is created (I changed the path in BufferTempStoragePath).
How can it be that there is a need to create temp files if there is so much RAM available? Why is the RAM filled more and more during the SSIS package execution? Is there anything I can do to release some of it? (it is running in a loop and there is no need to store all the data) Could it be caused by dbase?? (I use Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider)
Another thing is that the temp file is not stored in the path I set in BufferTempStoragePath. There are sufficient permissions set, but temp file is still created in user temp folder...
I have about 1200 sql files in one of my folders. Almost all of these files do data inserts and updates, so they should be run only once. As and when required I have manually ran around 150 of them already. Whenever I ran any of these scripts, I log that file name into a log table in my sql server including the execution time. Since running 1000+ more files takes a lot of time, I want to automate running of these files through a batch file. But I also want to filter the files that are already run.My file list looks like follows.
select * from sqlfileexecutionlog FileNameRunTimeResult --------------------- DeleteDuplicateOrders.sql03/12/2014 14:23:45:091Success UpdateInventory.sql04/06/2014 08:44:17:176Success
Now I want to create a batch file to run the remaining files from my directory to my sql server. I also want to wrap each of these sql file executions in a transaction and log success/failure along with the runtime and filename into sqlfileexecutionlog table. As I add new sql files into this directory, I should be able to run the same batch file and execute only the sql files that have not bee run.
I need to create script that will import large XML files (500 - 7GB) on a daily basis and store the data in a relational db structure.
What is the best and fastest way of importing such files. I have played around with smaller files and found the following.
1. SSIS XML Data Source: It doesn't seem to like the complex elements types and throws out the file. 2. Using Bulk File Import, sorting the file in XML variable and using XQuery to parse the file: This works but it can't take a file more than 2GB in size, so I can't use this method. 3. C# + XML Serialization: This also works, but seems to be terribly slow. I open the DB connection once, so it doesn't open and close for each db call, but still seems like it takes a long time.
how to import large XML quickly in a relational table structure?
I was in the process of creating additional TempDB.ndf files, and received an error saying they already exist. I checked the location and it was empty, nothing to see here. So I looked in sys.master_files and there are several tempdb files listed in various locations, all of which come up empty.
So the files are listed as online in sys.master_files, but they do not exist on the server. I restarted SQL services but it did not change anything.
I have to make a user defined function in c# as the class liberary and create a dll file, now i want to use this function in SQL Server 2005 as a part of CLR Integration
I have tried like this
CREATE ASSEMBLY abc FROM 'C:abc.dll'
WITH PERMISSION_SET = SAFE
but it gives me incorrect syntax error so plzzzzz anyone help me wht to do in my probbbbbbbbb???????
I have a folder which contains all the flat files which are used by all the packages(ex--flat file connection managers) in my project. If we want to change the name of the folder, have to change in every package( in all connection managers) manually. It looks hardcoding and timetaking.
Is there any way to change in one place(xml, file, variable) so that it should be affected in all the packages.
one more doubt is..
If we configure the flat file connection manager in package configurations, configuration file (ex-xml)will be created (we can make changes in that file regarding that connecion mgr only.)
But i want one configuration file (ex--xml) so that i should configure the details of all the connection managers used in all packages.
