Some SET_ANSI Options Will Be Removed In Future Releases

According to SQL Server 2005 Book Online, the following "Important" note applies to SET_ANSI_NULLS and SET_ANSI_PADDING:
"This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature."
However, these options are automatically inserted in the auto-generated scripts (such as CREATE TABLE) in SQL Server 2005 Management Studio.
I am working on new scripts that include these options. What are the replacements for these options? Does the above note apply to ALTER DATABASE options? Please give me advice!
the documentation of SQL Server says that TRUNCATE_ONLY will be removed in further SQL Server Version. So what should i use now?
The following Backupplan is used on a Development SQL Server. The Plan has the following goals: if there an Hardware Issue i can go Back to the Start of the Day. If a Programmer or a Programm makes a mistake, i can Rollback to a specific point in Time or Checkpoint that was between the start of the week and the point in time where the Log got backed Up. (Backing up the LOG and make a Restore all Backups)
Heres the Plan: Do Fullbackup on Sunday Morning. (WITH INIT) Do Differential Backup every Day, except Sunday, morning.
WITH INIT is used to delete old Backups from the Week before.
Now the Problem: The Transaction Log growth in time, because it never gets truncated. so i made the decision to CUT IT before the Full Backup on Sunday morning gets executed. But if i should not use TRUNCATE_ONLY - what should i use ? Or do i have a (logical) Error in my Backupplan ?
I have an application using SQL server 7.0 and have it installed at numerous sites. At the moment when an upgrade is carried out it generally includes changes to the database schema, at the moment these changes are tracked by saving lots of change scripts and running them as batch files. This process of update is quite time consuming and any errors that occur are not obvious so the upgrades must be carried out by our own staff. I was wondering two things:-
1) How do people manage this kind of problem. 2) Are there any tools that help to cope with this problem.
The Microsoft Synchronization Services for ADO.NET v1.0 CTP release appeared without fanfare on January 22, 2006. The release contains "v1.0 early CTP" bits for the sync framework and SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition (SSCE) v3.5, the Orcas successor to the SSCE v3.1 RTM bits, which Microsoft released on January 11, 2006. The current code name for Sync Services is OCS (for Occasionally Connected Systems).
Seems to me to resemble a "stealth release."

WE release our software once a week. In 1 months time we will have over 500 stored procedures in our DataBase. What we do for releases is when a stored procedure is changed, we put the Drop and Create parts of that script in our SQL Update Script. A problem comes up when Developer A changes My_StoredProc and then developer B changes the same stored procedure. Sometimes it works ok (the developer B will run the update script before changing his stored procedure. HOwever, it can happen where one Update script file has the same SP 5 times (5 drops 5 creates)... especially if over 300 SP's are getting updating in 1 release. We will always catch these on our tests, however, it's the 2 hours to fix the Test DB after we run these tests... What is the best way to manage these? We thought about putting our stored procedures into Team Foundation Server, but we don't know if that will work for us. We have 8 developers in our team. If anyone could help or give advice on this, it would be awesome. Thanks.
I have another question I'm just looking for some opinions on this. I created a database through sql (sql engine, access 2000 client side) now this database has Hyperlinks in it which lead to the employee's documents which on in acrobat pdf. Does anyone for see an problems that might occur wth that???
We have a NT service built via Visual Basic 6 which fires dts processes on demand according some criteria. Well, on the whole and basically only for the following rule: -dts process is executed when our service recognize a concrete plain file leaved in a folder. It€™s generally generated for a mainframe JCL along with a activator file (.nul file, empty). Each application own a folder and each folder have lots of files as the aforementioned ones. Scheduler for that is an ASP application that lives within a intranet. It also is a monitor and logger
In that schema, keeping on mind that eight out of ten are ETL processes, critical ones and on daily-basis, our question is, how to handle on with this stuff using by sql25k and its powerful SSIS?? Migrating such dts packages to SSIS packages is a piece of cake (now no before; thanks Jamie, Michael and other guys for your awesome help) because of its tipology. However our main concern is what the hell to use. Centralized dtsx package running all day long as a service, listening and checking for files? .Net windows application either vb or c#? aspx solution? Set of .vbs interlinked among them?
This is a old post/goal. In spite of we have not defined any deadline for that, what the heck as time goes by is more urgent for us. A restriction: we can€™t to programme nothing from our sql25k production cluster physically. Any stuff will be done on workstations.

I have had one tossed at me that I've never dealt with before. While I've done calculations on date parts I'm a little lost on how to proceed. They want a stored procedure that will take date from one field and add three days to it and that would update another field. The three days must account for weekend and holidays.
The date would be receiveddate 12/03/2007 and the due date 12/06/2007. If someone has run into this and has some sample code it would be a great help.
I just create FLATFILE connection manager from UI, and now I would like save this connection manager for future use. I am not able to do this and now I am really stuck in the middle of coding.
ConnectionManager class has SaveToXML and LoadFromXML methods from IDTSPersist, these methods are not for use, but I am able to save CM to XML, however not load. Every try for loading ends with error 0xC0011008. The XmlNode.Name == "DTS:ConnectionManager"
CM class is not serializable, thus standard .NET feature is not working, also is sealed.
IDTSConnectionManagerFlatFile90 of cm.InnerObject is not serializable either, because it is interface and cm.InnerObject cannot be cast to ConnectionManagerFlatFileClass because is the COM.
Is there any way, how to save and load ConnectionManager besides writing of tons of code for each of connection manager type?
I am able to save and load package with connection manager, but it is not exactly what I want. Also is there possibility to work with XML in packages, but this is not "right".
I'm baffled by a problem I noticed yesterday, I have a 3 NODE SQL 2005 x64 ENT cluster which was setup with SSIS and Notification services upon setup. I have gone through patching SQL 2005 with SP1 (initial setup) SP2 and Hotfix 3052 through the last two months and it in the NT applicaiton log that SSIS was patched and started up to 6/15. Yesterday I received an email stating SSIS was not installed by one of our developers, upon logging in a confirmed it's no longer there! I re-installed through ADD/RM Programs SQL 2005 and ran through the SP2 and HF 3052 setup.. but upon scanning the Application logs I can't find any record of SSIS or Notification services being uninstalled. The MSinstaller shows the initial install of both packages, and then the re-install today but there's no log of uninstalling it. Does anyone know where else I can look or has can explain this odd occurance?
I am in the process of porting over an application from Access To SQL implementing SQL Server 2005 Express. My intention is to implement this database on a full time server and upgrade to a full blown version of SQL later. Am I correct in assuming that there is not limit on the number of concurrent connections to SQL Server Express since it was stated that the "Workload Governor" has been removed? Or does something else control the number of users that can be simultaneously connected to the server.
My reason for asking is I have 7 machines that need to access the server. I also have 2 databases that need to be accessed from each machine. If there is no limit, I will keep my databases seperate. However, if there is a limit, I will most likely merge the tables into 1 db.
I need to test an HR application with a future date without changing the system date. If I just rollback the the date fields in the data, it may not work as the application itself might be using getdate() type of functions..
Any thoughts on how to do this w/o touching the system date setting?
I'm trying to migrate to VS2005 and prepare for future Windows Mobile releases. My app uses MFC, CCeDBDatabase, and RAPI from the desktop to sync with the device version of the app. Works great now, but I'm worried about how many different ways it will be broken in the future .
My questions - first, are we pretty certain that CEDB will NOT be supported after WM5? Next, is there, or will there be, a CCeDBDatabase class for EDB? VS2005 seems to know nothing about CCeDBDatabase. What should I be doing with the CCeDBDatabase; do I need to re-write everything using only API calls? Also, there is no RAPI for EDB, is this correct? If so how can I switch to EDB and still communicate/sync with the desktop using RAPI? As always, any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I have a sql table with a varchar column which contains codes like '080101000', in my SSIS dataflow I have a lookup against this table and the column whith the code is used as output column for my lookup transformation.
In the advance editor the output column datatype is DT_WSTR, but when the code contains only numbers like the code '080101000' the first '0' is removed! It's like the code is at some point transformed to numeric and then inserted in the output column as a string. This in nonsense!!
We have a publisher that got red-crossed(Run to problem). I decide to remove and recreate it. However, after remove it, the publisher still stays in Replication Monitor. The remain thing has no distributor and logreader, but only snapshot agent. When to check the property of the agent, we got a error message basically say the job does not exist, which makes sense.
Now, it does not show up in any places, except Replication Monitor. Well, it cannot be removed from Replication Monitor. Can any one tell us how to clear it from Replication Monitor?

More Infor: The replication was set up on 2000.(2000 pub, 2000 dis and 2000 sub) with 2005 Management Studio, and the publication was removed with 2005 Management Studio.
I Recently uninstalled Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 Tools from my machine, then I installed Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2005 again. this way I can write normal .NET applications with vs 2008 and still be able to develop my reports with the BIDS.
I thought everything was working oke, until I had to modify a report. When I open the report and preview it...it works fine, but when I go back to the Data Tab, it clears out the mdx queries of all the datasets and I get the default blank designer.
I really need this fixed a.s.a.p. otherwise I can't make fixes to the reports.
I have a sql server express 2005 database with a table named Events with a column named Date (datetime datatype). I want a query that will display all rows that are either current or future but not past. I suspect there is a simple way of doing this. As a Newbie searching archived threads this is what I have come up with so far. Thus setting a WHERE clause to <= 0 would limit my results to present or future events. I want to get into consulting (perhaps a little at first and more once I can support myself on it solely). I am about to start the purchase of a laptop soon, and I want to know which components I should focus on the most. I also want to know which version of SQL Server I should purchase.
From my studies and what I have learned (about to take the test to get my sql server 2005 certificate) I am going to assume that I want to get SQL Server 2005 developer software. However, the part that is not touched on very often, is if I am working with a client that has say, SQL Server 2005 enterprise, x64 exition, and I have developer IA64 edition, would I be able to connect and work on their server?
As far as the hardware is concerned, I am thinking I want a laptop with a large enough screen (I currently get a discount through hp where I currently work and am looking at the models that have a 17 inch screen) so I don't go blind trying to work . I am also thinking I don't need an extremely powerful processor, but I am not sure between athlon and pentium on which I Should choose since I do not have much experience in this area with sql server. I know I want at least 2GB of memory for the simple fact that sql server isnt the only thing I will be doing on the laptop and want some headroom. I also want a large enough hard drive to hold everything, but I definitely want to see if I can get a 7200rpm drive vs a 5400rpm for the simple fact that I have noticed a significant difference in read and write speeds between the 2 drives. I am not too fussed over the video card, as I am not into graphics design or high-end video games (I think world of warcraft is the most intense I have bought in years). I am also thinking that because I wont need to have a very powerful video card, that a mega powerful battery is not super important.

Conversion failed when converting character string to smalldatetime data type.
I can use this same query on an exactly same other field that contains dates in the past. Is there some kind of limitation on the dates as far as them being in the future or past?
This SQL is meant to show the changes that will be made, when removing a selected user's email address from a batch.
However, when executed, each row is duplicated, and in the duplication, the semi-colon or comma isn't removed. For example, if I wanted to remove user "sam@mail.com"
Ideally, it should only display each row once, and not have the semicolon error. It seems to be a union error, because when I comment out the First and second union statements, it runs fine.

I have installed SQL server 2005 on Win SERVER 2003, then uninstalled and then re-installed but I have found out that the previous instances are still listed and the the previous collation too (I have changed reg setting and and language option re-installation).
It looks like that removing program does not remove completely every object, probably registry values
Do you know how to perform a good uninstallation removing everything (add/remove program does not work properly as written before) ?
I've been building and testing my reports and have found that if I decide that a report parameter should be removed, removing the parameter causes the report to fail.
If I remove a report parameter via the 'Report Parameters' menu, and I also remove the associated data dimension, filter expression and parameter check boxes, when I preview the report I get an error message. It appears the report is searching for the old parameter name even after it has been deleted.
This leaves me with the option of either restoring the parameter as it was, or rebuilding the report from scratch. I've done some investigation and the parameters seem to exist within the XML code that underlies the report despite the parameters being deleted.
