Sort Component Sets Unknown State

Hi Forum,
I'm using several sort components in my dataflow task (for all now saying uuhh, in normal flow they are all not used, only in lookup failures). I know that the sort component is more than slow and deprecated.
So when I find some rows with a foreign key not yet in my dimTable, I throw them in another branch and sort them / aggregate them for insertion. After that, I wanna lookup again. So I have to wait for all inserts to complete. So I use the sort component, which has to wait for all rows, and sort for my business key. All rows inserted and sorted I lookup again.
This scenario worked for me in a lot of packages with a lot of rows. So why do I post :-)
I now hav another package. As of processing the stream, 1796 rows go to the sort component an wanna be sorted. But nothing happens. Processor goes idle for 0-5% for debugHost. HDD does some reading and writing but nothing really big. TempFiles for sorting are not getting refreshed. Memory Usage is 1.6GB (/3GB is set in boot.ini). No Error Message at all. And this state is for hours an hours.
Any hint why the package is going into that state?

I recently configured SQL Server 2012 AlwaysOn Availability group using two nodes - a primary and one secondary read only replica. Â The group is residing on a windows 2012 cluster with an smb file share as the quorum. Â I am able to successfully failover through SQL and through the windows 2012 cluster. Â When I look at the group dashboard on the primary server and view the Operational state of each node I notice an odd value. Â The secondary role server is listed as Unknown. Â I also noticed that the Availability replicas node icons in object explorer are displaying the same icon on the primary server but on the secondary server, the primary server is shown as a server with a question mark.
Am I missing a permissions setting or is this normal behavior.
For example:
ServerA is the primary
ServerB is the secondary
ServerA Â lists the servers in Object Explorer as:
ServerA (Primary)ServerB (Secondary)
ServerB Â lists the servers in Object Explorer as:
ServerAÂ ServerB (Secondary)
The primary is never listed a primary on the secondary server. Â Again failovers are working properly, but I want to be sure I am not missing a setting somewhere.

Supposing I have a sort order/char set installed and some databases working under these circumstances.Is there any way to change order and sets without losing my old databases? If I try to rebuild databases, I lose them,and when i try to restore them, there's a conflict between the new SQL Server 6.5 configuration and the Databases previously created in old sort order/char sets?Is there any solution to this,or once I have chosen the database configurations,I'll have to either recreate the data or die with them??? Neede answers ASAP....

Other than the error log is there an easy way to find the sort order and
chracter set of an installed SQL Server. Also after finding the numbers
is there a good reference to tell you what these numbers mean.

What happens when you add the Ignore Case flag into the mix?
I'm having a hell of a time - I'm dealing with an SCD situation using TableDifference component and I have both existing dimensions and new data coming in, each go through identical Case-Insensitive/Sort with remove duplicates, but I'm getting identical new and deleted records detected - I think because of ordering issues. I'm still trying to whittle the test case down, but I think data from all around the records I'm investigating seems to get sorted in between them, so I'm having trouble getting a small test case built.
I think the mixed case data is the root of the problem, and I think the design is bad, but before I go back to the technical lead, I need to understand enough to show that you cannot take two pipelines sorted and de-duped case-insensitively and then do a case-sensitive table difference operation.

Hi,
I'm using MS Report Designer 2005 and have created a report that uses a cube, with a dimension set up to convert null values to unknown (nullProcessing = UnknownMember).
When I create a parameter using the checkbox in the graphical design mode's filter pane, Report Designer automatically sets the constrained flag, eg:
STRTOMEMBER(@DimOrganisationBUSADDRSTATE, CONSTRAINED).
When running the report and selecting the 'Unkown' value from the parameter list, the error 'the restrictions imposed by the CONSTRAINED flag in the STRTOSET function were violated' occurrs.
How can I prevent the constrained flag from being used, or am I doing something wrong with converting null values to 'Unknown'?

I have a package that has a data lfow task. this task imports data from a db2 database (using the IBM Ole DB provider fro db2) and adds it to sql server database table. This package was created on the server. then though version control (using TFS source control) I check out the package on my local machine. and when I open the package I get the foll 3 errors.
Error 1 Validation error. Import Account Num from BMGP_BDR: DTS.Pipeline: The component metadata for "component "DataReader Source" (1113)" could not be upgraded to the newer version of the component. The PerformUpgrade method failed.
Error 2 Error loading BMAG Download Xref Tables - bmag.dtsx: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ComponentVersionMismatchException: The version of component "DataReader Source" (1113) is not compatible with this version of the DataFlow. [[The version or pipeline version or both for the specified component is higher than the current version. Hi,
I have a package which reads an Access file from a folder. My connection manager to this file is .NET providers for OledbMicrosoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider.
Package works from my computer. But when I execute it on the server as a SQL Agent job, I get
The component metadata for "component "DataReader Source" (1) could not be upgraded to the newer version of the component. The PerformUpgrade method failed.
I copied the mdb file to a folder on the server which my packages have no problem reading data from.
My packages run under the same domain account as defined in proxies.
Appreciate a help.

I am trying to set sorting up on a DataGrid in ASP.NET 2.0. I have it working so that when you click on the column header, it sorts by that column, what I would like to do is set it up so that when you click the column header again it sorts on that field again, but in the opposite direction. The 2.0 version of ASPSTATE is slightly different than the 1.1 version in that one table has one additional column and another table uses a different data type and size for the key. The 2.0 version also has a couple additional stored procedures.
We'd like to manage just one session state database if possible so we're trying to figure out if Microsoft supports using the new schema for 1.1 session state access (it seems to work, but our testing has been very light).
Is there any official support line on this? If not, can anyone comment on whether or not you'd expect it to work and why?

In a Data Flow, I have the necessity to use a SSIS variable of type €œObject€? inside Script Component and assign to it the content of 'n' variables of string type.
On exiting from the script the variable of type object should contain something like in the following lines:

Hi all
I'm into a project which uses a lot of views for joining 2 or more tables. Using the MERGE component in SSIS will be a huge effort coz it only has 2 inputs and I gotta SORT the input too.
Isnt it possible to have a VIEW like component that joins more than 2 tables and DOESNT need sorting??
(I've thought about creating views in database engine but it breaks my data floe in SSIS and is'nt a practical solution)

I am writing a custom dataflow transformation component and I need to get the name of the preceeding component.
I have been trying to find a way to get a reference to the Package object, MainPipe object or IDTSPath90 object (connecting to the IDTSInput90 of my component) from my component because I think from there I can get to the information I want.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

We have mirroring setup for 5 dbs, 4 of which are synchronized and 1 which is in "synchronizing" state on the principal and "restoring" state on the mirror. Mirroring for all dbs has been working fine for the past several months and we have a witness that has allowed automatic failover in the past without problems.
This database has several bulk inserts performed throughout the day and am sure there is some latency due to the size of these transactions.
Not sure as to why this is happening all of a sudden, but the db in question has been in this state for the past 12 hrs. I checked the mirroring status on the principal and it states that it is "synchronizing: data is being transferred from principal to mirror", but the mirror server states that db is in "restoring" state. Can anyone suggest as to how I can get the database on the mirroring server to get back to "mirror, synchronizing/restoring..." state? Or suggest on how I can troubleshoot this?

No idea where this bug crept in from. Have been using SSIS for 1.5 years now without hitting this problem.
I had a script component opening an XML document and parsing it using XPATH. I added some code that uses StreamReader / Streamwriter (closing one stream before starting the other). The code works without issue in my C# app.
And it ran without issue 2-3 times in SSIS. Then suddenly after running my package again, the script component says it completes successfully, yet nothing happens. I set a breakpoint on the first line of code - it never hits it. I add a msgbox as the first line of code - and it never displays.
I then close my package / exit out of ssis ... and then re-open it. When i open my script component, all of my code is GONE. All references that I added are gone.
I tried adding the streamreader/writer process to a dll I created from my c# app ... and added the DLL to the package -- same result.
I can reproduce this on 2 different computers.
Anyone experience this problem ? Any idea how to stop it ? Or debug it ?

The Microsoft SQL Server icon is showing on my task bar but with a white (blank) circle "stamped" over the bottom right of the icon.
To me it seems that the implication is that somehow the server is not being recognized as (local)etSDK.
Resting the mouse arrow on the Server icon displays: unknown - \ - MSSQLServer
Needless to say something is quite wrong and I cannot open nor create ANY DATA while on WebMatrix.
If I right-click on the server icon and select "Start" I get the following error: "Invalid handle" which apparently is error number 6.
Previously, after many try-outs I managed to at least put the server icon on the task bar by making use of a setup.ini file that reads as shown below (and then typing from the MSDE sub directory while in MSDOS "setup.exe").

When I try to run my package from SQL Server Agent I get the following errormessage:

It has nothing to do with security in any way: The package actually succeeds!! (no onErrorEvent is thrown, no Error or whatsoever is logged). The only logging I get is this:

Hello All!!!
I have a 1.1 asp.net applications that has been in production for a little over a year. It is remoted from a webserver --> application server --> that access data server. I am using win2003 servers and sql 2000. Recently, the application has been having an issue retrieving and storing documents to the sql server. When diagnosing the problem I have ran communication testing to make sure the servers are communicating as they should, I have ran the stored procedure to test for retrieval times and/or failure. So far everything has checked out. While researching the issue, I ran across information that suggested changing from the SQLClient provider to the OLEDB provider. All the changes I have tried appear to have no affect.
I will mention that this does seem to occur only when retrieving larger files(probably a communication issue which I have my communications staff looking into). Has anyone experienced this issue and maybe know of any possible solutions?

While running an sp_who2, I noticed a status of 'SPINLOOP'. I've never seen this before. Normally I see sleeping, RUNNABLE, and sometimes ROLLBACK.
Has anyone seen this before and/or have any idea what it means.

I have a client using SQL 2k, SP2 (due application requirements, SP3 is notan option - the application vendor will not specify why). We are receiving:[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Unknown token received from SQL ServerConnection BrokenThere doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason as to why this is happening.And...it shows it's ugly head at random places during execution. Has anyoneexperienced this also, or have any ideas on what to look for? I have seennumerous suggestions stating to upgrade from MDAC 2.6 to 2.7. At thispoint, I'm not sure if thats an option based on the vendors application(which by the way they no longer support!).Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.Greg

I don€™t know if this is the case but I need some help. We have itanium server with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3054.00 (Intel IA-64) Mar 23 2007 18:42:19 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2).
We has had lot of problem with that the sqlserver.exe process hangs 100% cpu. It€™s totally non responsive I€™m not even able to contact the server with DAC. The general solution has been just kill the process. Not nice.

We used to solution to set a fixed as told in the post above and after that the problem went away. At least for the last 4 days.
Is this LazyWriter not fixed in SP2 for itanium or what?

I recently tried Re-Installing SQL Server 2005 and setup fails with the following error message. I found a forum that instructed me to make sure that the Distributed Transaction Corrdinator Service is started and that the NT AUTHORITYNetworkService is set under the Log on as tab. I verified both of those settings in my services snap-in under the management console. Looks like setup is failing during this section: Integration Services - Configuring Components...
