Can anyone help me out in getting the information or execution progress of a package like "number of records migrated", "which component is getting executed at present",etc...when we migrate the datas using the package which we have created programmatically and trying to execute the package programatically.We can see these informations in the the "progress tab" when we execute the package using BIDS in SSIS.

We have several hundred very simple ETL SSIS 2K8 package files (*.dtsx).
I'd like to be able to interrogate them to determine source and destination fields.
There's no great need to map source to dest or to extract data types.
So far, the most promising candidate is to load them using OPENROWSET into an XML field in a SS table.No problem there, but querying using OPENXML has me stumped.
The package files will change a couple of times per year, so the process needs to be repeatable with minimal manual intervention.

We have reports deployed in the Report Server. While connecting from client, we are getting the error
"An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. rsInternal Error)"
Then we went to Report Server, Reporting Service and SQL Server service are all are running fine.
Important thing is some time the reports are working fine, sometimes i am receiving this error. Please help.
We predict whether the services are automatically restarted or transaction logs exceeding the limit or any other parameters to set to avaoid this error?

I have the error above, but no error log. I can preview the sub report - but this main report fails after working this morning. This is for internal company reports and I rebuilt this one after converting from access.
I have looked where the error logs should be, but there are no error logs.
I rebuilt the query as I needed to change this, but this did not help.
Is there someone who could point me in the correct direction.

I have created an RDL file programatically. When I execute the code I get the error as mentioned below:
Error: Sub report cannot be shown.
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError)
When I copy and paste the code of RDL file into new RDL file and try to preview the output I get correct result.
Note: The new RDL file does not give any error if the output is seen using preview tab but it gives the error only when executed from report viewer or from internet explorer.
Any Suggestion/feedback is highly appreciated.

Hello everybody,
I am trying to use the reporting services on Windows 2003 with SQLServer 2005. Everything works fine in the report manager and I can access and render the reports without any problem. But when I try to access the reports directly with the URL from the ReportServer, I get the following error :

Good day all,
I've been asked to create a DTS package that will execute 2 other DTS packages (yeah, I know... personally I want to write a sp for it *shrug*) and send an e-mail out reporting a failure and failure details.
So I have a couple of questions for you;
How do I pick up the error number (and description?) from a failed DTS and pass it to my sendmail task?
Is it possible to send anything other than plain text e-mails?
Can I change the e-mail priority to "high"?

Hai friends,
I was created report with 9 sub reports , with multiple column driildown for based on client requirement, iam displying the correct data and in database server data is availabel between 11/01/2007 to 11/30/2007, iam applying the input parameters are begin date, end date, region(defaultly ALL), Department(defaulty ALL), site(defaulty ALL).
my problem is while selecting the default dates (minum and maximum dateranges) with selecting ALL regions, ALL departments, ALL sites iam not getting the output. it showing error like
" An error occur on local report processing, an internal error occur on report server, see error log for more details"
but iam selecting the date as 11/01/2007 to 11/02/2007( that is not large records, between two dates only) it shows correct output.
while applying the default ranges that is 11/01/2007 to 11/30/2007 report shows above mentioned error.
problem with 9 sub reports ? or any thying
please help me how to solve my problem next coming two days i have to deploy my report to client, at the time it will show data between default date ranges.

Well, I get the elusive error...
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details.
I was trying to preview my report and this keeps coming up. I go to the logfiles to see what may be the issue and there are no errors in the log files(s). Can someone let me know what the usual path or name of the error log this is supposed to write to.

I have rs2005 installed. I created some reports through SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio. I can preview reports fine in the studio. But after deploying it, on //localhost/reports, when I click the report, it takes a while to calculate and then give me error: "An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. "
The weird thing is if I restart report service, it will display report fine on the first time, then fail on the following attempts.

I saw the answer:
"You could set the "EnableRemoteErrors" configuration value to True in
the ReportServer.ConfigurationInfo database table."
How can I get to the ReportServer.ConfigurationInfo database table?
I am on the reportservice server and I run "reporting services
configuration manager" and the "sql server managment". I didn't saw
that option :(
Where is this configuration?

Hey, I can't enable caching on my local computer..I use daspnet_regsql -S "localhostSQLEXPRESS" -E -d books -edand aspnet_regsql -S "AdminSQLEXPRESS" -E -d books -edto try to start but i get a login error...cannot open database "books" requested by login. The login failed. Login failed for user Computer2/Adminunable to connect to SQL database for cache dependency registrationI tested connection with vwd and sql express management and it connects so I don't know what i'm doing wrong since I followed the direction and I googled for answer but not coming up with anything that's helping me..anyone have this problem and know how to resolve so i can cache some data output on my project

I am using Data flow object in that I take OleDb as Source and Sql Server As destination. Without enabling Package configuration everything is working fine data is moving from Source to destination.
But When i apply Package Confiiguration It throw Error And My OleDb Source object Convert in to RED Color. I cant able to track This errror

Hi all,
I have a Script Task in an OnError EventHandler, the Script Task is used to send an Email to notify about the Execution Error. I'm currently using the System:ErrorDescription variable in my Script Task to provide details about the error but I have noticed that the Error Description written in the Windows Event Log when using OnError Logging is much more detailed than the content of the System:ErrorDescription variable. How can I use the same Error Description in my Script Task ?

I have a pretty complicated report (lots of subreports, tables, etc) that can be well over a few hundred pages long. I can generate the report just fine, but I cannot seem to export it to anything other than an html archive. I need to export to PDF. Every time I try to export it get an error that says:
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details.
I don't get any more information than that. Is there a way that I can figure out what the actual error is, or any other way I can go about troubleshooting this? Thanks.

Since I had a bad error in replication, my replication monitor won't show the tab "Error details or messages of the select session".
I am not able to activate or to show this "tab", to get all information about my error.
I added two screeshots, one with the 3 tab, and the other, were the information about my error are missing. How i can my default view back?

i have a weird situation here, i tried to load a unicode file with a flat file source component, one of file lines has data like any other line but also contains the character "ÿ" which i can't see or find it and replace it with empty string, the source component parses the line correctly but if there is a data type error in this line, the error output for that line gives me this character "ÿ" instead of the original line.
simply, the error output of flat file source component fail to get the original line when the line contains hidden "ÿ".
i hope you can help me with issue.

I got the following error when i tried to run a simple scenario using a XML source to load from a RSS feed to a Data Reader Destination.
[XML Source [621]] Error: The component "XML Source" (621) was unable to read the XML data. The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.
Any clues?

Hi there,
I need to load data from an xml file to a SQL Server 2005 table. The value of some of the elements/attributes will be added to columns of the table whereas for other elements XML will be inserted in a column of type XML.
I tried a file with its schema but it gave me an error
'Error At Data Flow Task [XML Source[1]] The Component was unable to process XML Data. Ambiguous Complex Type Definition. The element 'http://www.mystore.com/2:ApplicantName' has multiple members named 'http://www.mystore.com/2:FirstName'
NOTE: The xml file is well-formed and is already validated against the schema using XMLSpy.
1) How to get rid of this error?
2) How to get the values for some of the elements/attributes and XML for other elements.

Cannot add functions like:
iif("dbo"."FACT_Sales_order_transaction"."DeliveredQty" > 0,1,0)
on the Source Column property on a measure in my cube.
Get error "the column is not valid"
I'm sure it's a valid name !
I have a measure called so and
commands like "dbo"."FACT_Sales_order_transaction"."DeliveredQty"- "some other measure" works fine.
It works fine if I try the same on the Tutorial Sales cube:
iif("sales_fact_1998"."store_sales" > 0,1,0)
Only difference is "dbo"... Should work on SQL-server also ???

I have a problem with DataReaderSource.
I'm trying to get data from Notes table. I created a Connection manager
and the connection was successful. The SQLCommand in "Component properties"
tab is a simple "select * from <table_name>". When I switch to the
"Column mappings" tab, only the first column from the table is displayed.
Pressing the "Reftesh" button resulst in the following error:
Error at Data Flow Task {DTS.Pipeline]: The "output column <column_name> has a length that is not valid.
The length must be between 0 and 4000.
When I go to the "Input and Output Properties" tab, the DataType for the output column is not populated
and the error message "Error in Data Flow Task [DTS.Pipeline]: The output column <column_name> had an
invalid datatype (0) set."
The DataType property is not populated at all. Changing the data type to DT_STR results in error:
"Property value is not valid". Details: Error at Data Flow Task [DataReader Source]:
The data type of output columns on the component "DataReader Source" cannot be changed".
I read on a previous post to explicitly convert field , and tried to explicitly covnert the dataype on the field
in my query (ex. select convert(varchar(50) from fieldname)
It then gives foll err:
ERROR [42000] [Lotus][ODBC Lotus Notes]Incorect syntax near ','
[Lotus][ODBC Lotus Notes]Name, constant or expression expected.
Any idea on how to resolve this?

What is the purpose of the error output for an OLE DB Source component. Any sql that would cause an error such as converting a character to a number or division by zero causes the OLE DB Source component to fail regardless of the settings for the error output. Works perfect for OLE DB Destination but I cannot come up with any scenario where it would work for the OLE DB Source component.
