Specifying Table To File In SQL 2000

Jun 13, 2006

Following on from http://forums.databasejournal.com/showthread.php?t=42959 it has been asked for the ability to specify certain tables to be in certain database files, but I'm unaware this can be done. They want the archive tables to be on a seperate volume (on a cheaper set of disks/lower performing RAID set, for example) to the live data.

Can this be done with SQL 2000 Enterprise server?

Importing Txt File To Multiple Table In Sql 2000

Jul 20, 2005

Hi There,I am looking for information on how to import the txt or csv file tothe multiple table in sql 2000. If you have any kind of inf. pleaselet me know wheather we can do this and how.below is the detail information.I received txt file every day which contain the information from 3different related table in my sql 2000 database. Right now we arekeyin the information from the web site (which is link to the txtfile) to our database, but i am wondering if we can import thoserecord in the tables.the header of the file goes to table1 and when we insert the record intable1, it should generate the autoidentityrecord (PK), and that PK islink to other table2 and table3 where rest of the information from txtfile goes. For table2 and table3 there are multiple record per txtfiles.in our txt file each row is separated with row header, like HTC100WITH ROW NO. 1,2,3.., which indecate this information goes to tableand 1,2....are the different row number.Please let me know whether we can achive this task or not.Thanks for all you help in advance.Indra.I have pasted my txt file below:========"FHS000",20041029,0900,,"10",1,"TRAILB10_20041029_1B",3,"2.20","Pason-DataHub",,"#Well 1098831406 Tour 2004/10/29 Trailblazer 10 148",1,"EDR_3-0-10_HF2ETS 2.2""CON000",1,0000,0759"CON000",2,0800,1559"CON000",3,1600,2359"HWI010","0312857","COMPTON BRANT 15-7-18-24","COMPTON PETROLEUMCORP.","TRAILBLAZER DRILLINGCORP.","15-07-018-24W4","100/15-07-018-24W4/00","HANKPARANYCH","CURTIS FIESEL",20041029,,,"10",20041027,0600,,,"148","DD04485","VERT.","NO",,"HCO030",1,"Daily Walk Around Inspection","HP","CF""HCO030",2,"Detailed Inspection - Weekly (using checklist)","HP","CF""HCO030",3,"H2S Signs Posted (if required)",,"HCO030",4,"Well License & Stick Diagram Posted","HP","CF""HCO030",5,"Flare Lines Staked","HP","CF""HCO030",6,"BOP Drills Performed","HP","CF""HCO030",7,"Visually Inspect BOP's - Flarelines and DegasserLines","HP","CF""HDC040",1,"Rig Site Health and Safety Meeting (one/crew/month)","CF""HDC040",2,"C.A.O.D.C. Generate A Separate Txt File For Each Account In A Table, Need To Join Tables To Get Details, And Specify Output File Name?

May 16, 2008

Hey,

I'm looking for a good way to rewrite my T-SQL code with 'bcp' to SSIS package, any help would be greatly appreciated?

I have table1 contain account numbers and output-filename for each account,

I need to join table2 and table3 to get data for each account in table1, and then export as a txt file.

Here is my code using bcp (bulk copy)

DECLARE @RowCnt int,
@TotalRows int,
@AccountNumber char(11),
@sql varchar(8000),
@date char(10),
@ArchPath varchar(500)

SET @RowCnt = 1
SET @date = CONVERT(CHAR(10),GETDATE(),110)
SET @ArchPath = '\D$EDATAWorkFoldersSendSendData'
SELECT @TotalRows = count(*) FROM table1
--select @ArchPath

WHILE (@RowCnt <= @TotalRows)
BEGIN
SELECT @AccountNumber = AccountNumber, @output_filename FROM table1 WHERE Identity_Number = @RowCnt
--PRINT @AccountNumber --test
SELECT @sql = N'bcp "SELECT h.HeaderText, d.RECORD FROM table2 d INNER JOIN table3 h ON d.HeaderID = h.HeaderID WHERE d.ccountNumber = '''
+ @AccountNumber+'''" queryout "'+@ArchPath+ @output_filename + '.txt" -T -c'
--PRINT @sql
EXEC master..xp_cmdshell @sql

SQL 2012 :: How To Do Selective Read Of File Stored In File Table

Jul 2, 2015

I have a filetable that contains a binary file. I need to do a selective read of the file stored in the file table. I can write a C# CLR function that will open the file, read n bytes the from a starting byte. Or I can write a SQL statement that reads the stream in the filetable into a VARBINARY variable using SUBSTRING beginning at the starting byte (offset from 1) for the same n bytes.

Both give me the same result. However, the SQL statement takes considerably longer to read. I know there is overhead in reading through SQL (interpreted language), but the difference in performance is substantial, and I can only attribute this performance degradation if SQL first tries to "load" the entire stream before it identifies the portion of the stream that it needs to read beginning at the starting byte offset.

I wonder if this is the case or if there is another option to read a stream from a filetable directly through SQL queries that is more efficient.

Transact SQL :: Verify Inserted Values From One Table (in CSV File) With Another Table (in Database)

Aug 4, 2015

I am looking for a Sql query to verify the inserted values from one table(in CSV file) with another table(in sql database)

For example: I have below Values column that is present in once CSV file, after my data migration the values get stored in Results table under Message column.

I need to very whether values(1X,1Y) are inserted in Message record "successfully inserted value 1X"

Values (CSV)
1X
1Y

Results Table(SQL)
CreatedDate                   Message
2015-08-04 08:45:29.203  successfully inserted value 1X
2015-08-04 08:44:29.103  TEst pass
2015-08-04 08:43:29.103  successfully inserted value 1X
2015-08-04 08:42:29.203  test point
2015-08-04 08:35:29.203  successfully inserted value 1Y
2015-08-04 08:30:29.203  Test Pass
2015-08-04 08:28:29.203  successfully inserted value 1Y

If all values are inserted:

Output:
All values from values table are inserted successfully
Total count of values inserted: 2
If only few values are inserted, example only 1X from Values table is inserted in Message

Example:
Results Table CreatedDate     Message
2015-08-04 08:45:29.203  successfully inserted value 1X
2015-08-04 08:44:29.103  TEst pass
2015-08-04 08:43:29.103  successfully inserted value 1X
2015-08-04 08:42:29.203  test point

Output:
All values from values are not inserted successfully in result table.
Total count of values inserted: 1
Missing Values not inserted in results table are: 1Y

Using An Exec Query To Insert Pdf, .doc File Into Table From A Dir Path Which Is A Field In Another Table

Aug 5, 2007

I have the following query in sql 2005:

PROCEDURE [dbo].[uspInsert_Blob] (

@fName varchar(60),

@fType char(5),

@fID numeric(18, 0),

@bID char(3),

@fPath nvarchar(60)

)

as

DECLARE @QUERY VARCHAR(2000)

SET @QUERY = "INSERT INTO tblDocTable(FileName, FileType, ImportExportID, BuildingID, Document)

SELECT '"+@fName+"' AS FileName, '"+@fType+"' AS FileType, " + cast(@fID as nvarchar(18)) + " as ImportExportID, '"+@bID+"' AS BuildingID, * FROM OPENROWSET( BULK '" +@fPath+"' ,SINGLE_BLOB)

AS Document"

EXEC (@QUERY)

This puts some values including a pdf or .doc file into a table, tblDocTable.

Is it possible to change this so that I can get the values from a table rather than as parameters. The Query would be in the form of: insert into tblDocTable (a, b, c, d) select a,b,c,d from tblimportExport.

tblImportExport has the path for the document (DocPath) so I would subsitute that field, ie. DocPath, for the @fPath variable.

Otherwise I can see only doing a Fetch next from tblIportExport where I would put every field into a variable and then run this exec query on these. Thus looping thru every row in tblImportExport.

Any ideas how to do this?

Any easy way for a batch file or automated process to read from one db and table and what ever entry is missing out of another database + table it writes those missing entries to.

This is a simple table in one db that is filled with usernames, I want to see if there are missing usernames in another db and table and write those entries.

db1.usr_table.usr_name = jdoenew
If jdoenew is missing in the 2nd db I will need to write entries like:
db1.usr_table.usr_name = jdoenew
db1.usr_table.password = tmppassword
db1.usr_table.active = 1

Import .dat File To SQL 2000

Oct 17, 2005

My company designs our own banking software written in Progress. Currently twice a year (during our releases) we require our bank customers to run a program on their system that pulls certain data and dumps it to a .dat file. This .dat file was then imported (using another progress program) into a Progress database that our development team created (called stats.db) so we could have access to certain information regarding the customer's software/hardware set-up and utilization of programs,etc. This stats.db is now going away as we have a centralized SQL database for all customer information. The new process will be for our customers to send in their .dat files, they would be forwarded onto me, then I will need to import them into our SQL database. I am struggling in finding a way to do this. Our .dat files contain one field that holds the information, therefore the data is not delimited in such a way that I can just pull it into Excel, Access, CSV, etc. How can I go about pulling data out of these .dat files into a view/table in SQL for importing?

I am at a total loss and have spent hours researching this issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

SQL Server 2000 Log File Size

Nov 10, 2006

Am running several databases on SQL server 2000.
Have several overnight jobs for interface and maintenance, etc.
Log file on one specific database increases in size 10 fold overnight. Unable to trace why.
I have a job to truncate the logs before the final overnight backup. Several times a week the job hangs - on nights when log file expands, so it is a pain. Able to resolve the issue after the event, but do not understand why the log file increases in size (at that time) in the first place. No other activity on the server at the time.

Revover MS SQL 2000 From Log File (last 4 Hours)

Mar 24, 2004

Sorry in advance for the stupid question but I am not a technical expert at all!!!

I made a backup from a SQL-Server 2000 DB 3 days ago. Today data have been deleted from the system and they should be recovered. I have a full recovery model.

I tried to restore the DB but before I made a new backup (Just in case) I hope that was no error????

Is there a way to restore the DB from the log file but just restore the last 4 hours?

Thanks
A

Importing Data Into MS SQL 2000 From XML File

Jun 9, 2006

Hi Everone,I'm writing a script to import data from an XML file, and this tutorial isreally an awesome guide :http://www.kbalertz.com/Q316005/Imp....Component.aspx ... problemthough is here's a snippet of my XML file:<planets><sun rise="6:23" set="20:33"/><moon rise="18:54" set="4:26"/><mercury rise="7:50" set="22:11"/><venus rise="4:24" set="17:38"/><mars rise="9:45" set="23:40"/><jupiter rise="17:23" set="4:20"/><saturn rise="10:09" set="23:53"/><uranus rise="1:38" set="13:10"/><neptune rise="0:23" set="11:13"/><pluto rise="20:38" set="7:25"/></planets><moon><phase date="7/6/2006" text="Waxing Gibbous">9</phase><phase date="7/7/2006" text="Waxing Gibbous">10</phase><phase date="7/8/2006" text="Waxing Gibbous">11</phase><phase date="7/9/2006" text="Waxing Gibbous">12</phase><phase date="7/10/2006" text="Waning Gibbous">14</phase></moon>The tutorial seems to work well with entries in XML that look like this:<nighttime><txtshort>A moonlit sky</txtshort><txtlong>A moonlit sky</txtlong><weathericon>33</weathericon><hightemperature>100</hightemperature><lowtemperature>74</lowtemperature><realfeelhigh>108</realfeelhigh><realfeellow>74</realfeellow></nighttime>But when the XML file has more info (not sure technically what it's called)like the date and text options above in the phase tag, I'm not sure how toimport these into MS SQL. In MS Access I did do an import from this XMLfile, but alas it didn't see these entries in the phase tags either.Suggestions? I'm trying to use the XML Bulk Load component, but I'm sureI'm missing something. File Import To SQL Server 2000

Jul 20, 2005

Hi all,I have a file with an extension of .sdf. I "believe" it is a text fileof some sort but I am uncertain. The source agency hasn't returned anyof my calls so I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with this extension?I'd like to import the file into my database - when I use DTS and chosea text format, regardless of what delimiter I choose, the format isstill really ugly. when I pull it up in a huge text editor, it is hardfor me to tell what it is there.I saw in one of my searches that it could be a comma delimited (it'snot) .. could be a unisys file? I know it's not much information to goon - but where should I start in trying to get this into my databasewithout knowing the format? Any suggestions would be greatlyappreciated.Thanks!Bethany*** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com ***Don't just participate in USENET...get rewarded for it!

How To Recover From Mdf File (SQL Server 2000)

Dec 22, 2006

Hi,

My database corrupted because when I was running an update query, there is a power failure. After the computer booted, I cannot open the database anymore, it just not responding. Then I stop the sql server service, and tried to rename the .mdf and .ldf. After that it worked normally, but I need the data from the corrupted mdf file, I tried to attach the database but it just hanged. I even tried to attach without the .ldf file but it didn't work either, so I concluded that the problem is with the mdf file.

Is there any way to recover my data ??

Thanks in advance

Edwin

Mar 28, 2008

Hi,

I am trying to bcp from a remote server. They have bcp.exe file installed . I guess this is for SQL 2000 server.

I am able to bcp data from SQL 2000 server . But I am unable to bcp data from SQL 2005 server which has servername like "servernameinstancename"

I am getting error " Server does not exists or access denied"

How does the bcp.exe file differ for SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 servers? Do I need to install anything to make this workl?

SQL Server 2000 Attach Db Without One .ldf File

Nov 17, 2007

Dear All,

We have a DB on sql server 2000 64 bit and the build is 2187.

The database consisted of two transaction log files and several data files at the time we took backup. However, the backup taken was a cold backup (backup of files through OS). In this backupset, one transaction log file was skipped due to some error...... Now I want to restore the database for referring to some history data. Will I be able to attach the database with all MDF and one of the transaction log files.??

I heard this kind of recovery is not possible. If anybody can post some solution , I would be grateful...!!

Regards,

Chetan
