I am trying to install SQL Express on Window Home XP and SCC is returning the following error:
The SQL Server Configuration Checker cannot b execute due to WMI configuration on the machine ..... Error 2147942405 (0X80070005).
I tried running the following batch file which I believe resolved the same issue that someone else raised earlier (though I am not sure whether the OS was Home XP)
Will upgrading from XP Home to XP Professional (academic version) help me install SQL express successfully>
The Batch file I ran looks like this:
FIXWMI.CMD ------------------------

I'm using Sql Server Express on Windows xp Home Edition, I have created a user FAB in Sql server and then I have given it the rights as a server adminstrator. For creating a user I have followed the video tutorial from the web site of SQL Server Express.
But when I want to connect with SQL Server Express using Sql server authentication it gives me the following error:
Login failed for user 'FAB'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)
Error Number 18452,
I have searched [ Sql Express Error 18452 ] from google and read many articals but I can't find any artical which can solve my problem.
As the subject says, I am getting an error installing SQL Express 2005 SP1 on XP Home/SP2. I have never had a previous version of SQL server installed. I have never had Visual Studio installed. I have tried extracting the setup files and running from a different directory. I have tried installing the advanced package as well with the same results.
When I run the setup, the Client and support files are successfully installed. It then goes on to the system analysis, where I get one warning about my hardware but I have checked the help file and my system appears to meet the system requirements. After I click Next from this window is where I get the error, "Error writing to file: Access is denied. . Verify that you have access to that directory."
After looking into the log files I see this,
Error Code: 0x80070005 (5) Windows Error Text: Access is denied. Source File Name: t:yukonsqlsetupdarwinsqlcastubstreamca.cpp Compiler Timestamp: Wed Dec 21 16:49:23 2005 Function Name: streamBinaryToDisk Source Line Number: 238 Error 1304. Error writing to file: Access is denied. . Verify that you have access to that directory.
Does anyone know what is wrong? I have installed this on many W2K machines at work as well as installed the full version of SQL Server 2005. I have never seen these errors on any of those machines. This is the first XP machine I have ever tried to install on so I am not sure if this is an OS problem or not.

I am installing SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services on Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and received error 29521. I am installing with an account that has administrator rights. The summary.txt file contains: Error String : SQL Server Setup failed to execute a command for server configuration. The error was {Microsoft}{SQL Native Client}{SQL Server}CREATE DATABASE failed. Some file names listed could not be created. Check related errors.. Refer to the server error logs and Setup logs for detailed error information. Error Number : 29521
I have SQL Express 2005 SP2 installed in my Vista Home Premium. I am using SQL Server Management Studio Express to manage .mdf.
When I click "Add..." to attach .mdf database, I have this prompt error message :
The server principal "My-PCMyName" is not able to access the database "model" under the current security context. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 916)
I have elevated the rights, "Run as administrator", of my SQL Server Management Studio Express, but still having problem.
I also encounter security error when detaching the existing .mdf : The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'sp_detach_db', database 'mssqlsystemresource', schema 'sys'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 229)
I just got Visual Studio 6 Enterprise which includes SQL Server7. However, when I try to install SQL7 (Standard Edition ?) onWindows XP Home it only installs the client components and notthe server component. The install routine claims this is becauseof the version of Windows I am using. Now I know that IIS isn't supposed to be installable on WindowsXP Home but it is with a fairly straight forward hack, so what Iwas wondering was is there a way to get SQL7 Standard installedon Windows XP Home (maybe with a similar sort of hack)?Failing that (and assuming the SQL7 in VS6EE is "Standard") doesSQL7 Desktop work on Windows XP Home? If so where can I get it(haven't seen one so far on eBay)?Regards PLST
I€™m quite new to SQL Server so maybe this is an easy question but I haven€™t found the answer after 3+ hours of Googling and experimenting.
I have a simple set up €“ two computers named HELEN and DELORES, both running Win XP Pro, SP2. These machines are connected via a home network and both belong to the same Workgroup. There€™s no Domain involved. HELEN is running SQL Server Express while DELORES is the €œclient€?, running SQL Server Management Studio Express. I am using €œWindows Authentication€? and Named Pipes to allow DELORES to work with the SQL Server Express instance on HELEN.
I have a general understanding of €œWindows Authentication€? and I was hoping someone could fill in the gaps. I realize €œWindows Authentication€? uses the underlying Windows User Accounts on the server to validate incoming connections.
I€™m sometimes having a problem in connecting SQL Server Management Studio Express (running on DELORES) to the SQL Server Express instance (running on HELEN). This problem may be due to a lack of understanding of Windows User Accounts.
I€™ve found that if I use the exact *same* username *and* passwords on both machines, SQL Server Management Studio Express has no problem connecting to HELEN€™s SQL Server Express instance. If I change the username and/or password on only one of the machines, the connection fails. Also, if I keep the usernames the same on both machines but I delete the passwords, the connection fails again.
I realize I can set up a user account on HELEN. Do I then have to set up the same user account (with the same non-blank password) on Delores? So far, this is the method that€™s been successful. Is it possible for me to tell SQL Server Management Studio Express to use a particular account (username/password) when connecting to HELEN via Named Pipes? If so, how is that specified?
I admit to my confusion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am new to servers and when I try to learn about them I get confused, because the information does not list a server in XP, but they keep it separate from Microsoft SQL Server, like XP has it's own server. Can someone help clarify for me what the versions of SQL servers are?

Ive seen several sellers, both retail and on ebay, who say that sql server2000 developeredition will run on windows xp home edition. Is this true? Some articlesI've seen imply yeswhile other articles imply no. I'm trying to learn sql server and a lot ofbooks I've purchaseoffer a 120 day evaluation. I'd prefer to buy an edition that I can affordand will give me boththe server and tools.A seller on ebay is selling the developer edition and it's price is withinmy budget. I don't wantto buy it if it won't install on windows xp home.Any help would be great. Thanks
I have to deal with a private network of laptops which are all equiped with preinstalled "Windows XP home"
I've installed SQLExpress on one of these, but I cannot connect on it from the rest of the laptops. (I've successfuly done this with "Windows XP profesional" though, and local connections work fine as well).
I've already setup the SQLExpress to accept conections throuigh TCP/IP but I can not think of something else. (Security comes to mind, but I do not know how to resolve it on "Windows XP Home").
I wanted to install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, instead of installing .Net Framework 2.0, I installed .Net Framework 3.5. When I tried to install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition I received the following error:
SQL_ERROR (-1) in OdbcStatement::execute_batch sqlstate=42000, level=16, state=2, native_error=7404, msg=[Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]The server could not load DCOM. Error Code: 0x80071cec (7404) Windows Error Text: Source File Name: libodbc_statement.h Compiler Timestamp: Wed Jun 14 16:28:15 2006 Function Name: OdbcStatement::execute_batch@sysdbupg.sql@56 Source Line Number: 91
I then decided maybe I do need .net framework 2.0, but when I try to install it it says it's already included with the OS.
But the "Programs and Featuers" only list .Net Framework 1.1 and .Net Framework 1,1 Hotfix (KB92979).
I uninstalled .Net Framework 3.5 and tried to install .Net Framework 2.0 again, but it still says it's included in the OS.
After uninstalling .Net Framework 3.5, I tried to install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition, but still received the above error message.
Is .Net Framework 2.0 included with Windows Vista Home Edition?
If it is, any ideas in solving the Server 2005 Express Edition installation error?
When our administrators login on the workstation the application works well. But when ordinary users login they get the following error. (We only have 1 domain)
SQLState: 28000
SQL Server Error: 18452
Login failed for user ". The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
Then the standard SQL Server Login window pops up asking for the Login ID and Password. On the window the 'Use Trusted Connection' is checked and the name of the user on the workstation appears on the LoginID. What we do is uncheck the 'Use Trusted Connection' then login using the credentials above.
Hi, I'm having a problem installing SQL2005 Developer on Windows Vista.
At the System Configuration check page, I'm getting the IIS Feature Requirement item telling me IIS is not installed or disabled. This is not the case.
I have read article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920201 and switched on the IIS components as specified.
I've tried installing with Firewall, virus checker etc switched off. Every time I get the same problem. This is an issue, as I specifically need Reporting Services installed.
I am trying to install SQL Server 2005 on Windows Vista Home Premium edition, when I run the Installer I received are the following error message.
IIS Feature Requirement (Warning)

IIS Feature Requirement
Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) is either not installed or is disabled. IIS is required by some SQL Server features. Without IIS, some SQL Server features will not be available for installation. To install all SQL Server features, install IIS from Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel or enable the IIS service through the Control Panel if it is already installed, and then run SQL Server Setup again. For a list of features that depend on IIS, see Features Supported by Editions of SQL Server in Books Online.
I already configure IIS7 with all feature, but system still generate above mentioned message.
If I connect to SQLServer Express via Windows Authentication it works fine. But if I use SQL Server Authentication it doesn't work with a new created user and sa (with a new password) too. I turned mixed mode on, registry key HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftMicrosoft Sql ServerMSSQL.1\MSSQLServerlogin has the value 2 and all ports are set to 1433 but there is still error 18452. Any suggestions?
Connection failed: SQL State '37000' SQL Sever Error: 18452 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Sever Driver][SQL Server]Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
I have verified in Enterprise Manager that the concerened login is using a Windows 2000 Authentication and has the correct grant access permissions set up for the default database. Also switching to SQL Server Authentication or disabling security are not the options available in this case.
I keep getting this error when tring to log in to a SQL 7 db from a client application written in VB6.
The text reads:
Login failed for user 'rmuser'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
I have the account setup in SQL security and I have the account listed in the database and I'm using named pipes on a common domain. I'm running out of options. The network is a mix of Novell and NT. Please help
I'm trying to log in on local machine to my SQL Server 2005 (in Windows Server 2003) using a user not trused, like as 'sa' user, but I receive the error Login failed for user 'sa'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452).
No problem to connect with trusted user (my logon user to operating system).
I set the auth mode to SQL Server & Windows but doesn't work.
We have 2 failover servers and one client in our test environment. We have all the three configured in mixed mode authentication(windows + sql server authentication). But when we are failing over from 1st server to 2nd one, we are getting the following error message,
There are two servers €˜A€™ and €˜B€™. At server €˜A€™, there is installed Window server at server €˜B€?, there is installed Window Server2000. And both servers have SQL SERVER 2000. I have created link server from A to B. I have to insert data into table of server €˜B€™ from server €˜A€™. When I used directly insert command like
Insert into [server name (B)]. [Database]. [Owner].[table name] Select * from [server name (A)]. [Database]. [Owner].[table name]
The data is inserted successfully.
But when I created Jobscheduling , it is failed and show message :-
"Executed as user: HOerpserver. Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. [SQLSTATE 28000] (Error 18452). The step failed."
This is my first time posting, so be gentle as I'm not exactly sure what the protocol here is regarding posting errors.
I'm encountering an issue with an installation of SQL 2005 Express (SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE) on a Windows 2000 Professional SP4 machine (Intel P4 1.8 Ghz). The following error is what I receive:

The following is what I see in the error log (C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90Setup BootstrapLOGFiles):

Any help is greatly appreciated as I'll be monitoring this thread closely. Searches of my error show that other people have received it as well, although no resolution has ever been forthcoming. Thanks in advance.
When attempting to log into Mgt Studio using windows authentication I am getting the error: Error 18452 (not associated with a trusted sql server connection) .
I added my domainuserName in sql with no problems and added the account to the sysadmin server role. However, I noticed my credentials on my pc are not listed as domainuserName but rather ComputerNameUserName. I think this is what is causing the problem but I am not sure. Can anyone lend a hand?
Mircrosoft recommends that you change the authenication from Windows Authenication to SQL and Windows Authenication. This will allow users to gain access to the SQL server.
I have a problem that I hope anyone here can help me with. We have a new server with Windows Server 2003 installed as well as MS SQL Server 2005. Both of these are freshly installed with default options set. The server is configured to accept both windows certification and SQL server certification (mixed), and our company has a domain setup. This server will be used for internal development, so all of the necessary people have an administrator account on the domain, which is uploaded currently into SQL Server's Security > Users folder. When I am on the server itself, I can log in using my domain name with no problem, as well as sa. However, when I try to connect to the server remotely (by my machine down the hall) using Windows Authentication I cannot. The server has BUILTINAdministrators set up for users, as well as 'sa' and whatever other defaults were there.
I CAN connect using sa remotely on my machine, though, after I enabled the account. The error message I get when I try to log in through Windows Authentication is:
*********************************************
TITLE: Connect to Server
------------------------------
Cannot connect to LAF-SQL1.
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Login failed for user '(null)'. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452)
*********************************************
No other options other than what I've mentioned are installed. The (null) is not present, but the error message shows up as two single quotes ''. I strongly suspect there is a security option set by default somewhere in WinServer or SQLServer that does not permit remote connections, but I do not know where.
When I use sa to log into one of my database , it give me the following error: The user is not associated with a trusted conncections. error code: 18452, please tell me how to solve this problem.

We're creating an installer package for SQL Express 2005 and I'm using the built-in setup project in VS 2005 to create my MSI.
Everything appears to be working well, excpet that on Windows XP Home the SQL Express package is exiting with an error code 70002. I've googled for several days now and simply can't find any help on the 70002 exit code. Can anyone help ?

Now the problem is when I open up Management studio from another m/c I can't find the Instance installed in the XP Home MC. I deally in the management studio should displays the instances like this...

but in this case it is showing only
[Mechine Name] in the Management studio's brows server list in a different MC.
So I am not being able to connect to that MC. I have checked that the remote connection is checked on with Surface area config. manager.
Same command line is working for Windows 2000. Any help please......
