Visual Studio 2005 Automatically Sets SSIS Project As Startup Project
Feb 23, 2007I have a Visual Studio 2005 solution which contains a Sql Server Integration Services (SSIS) project.
In this solution I have explicitly set a Web application project as startup project, but whenever I edit a DTS package within the SSIS project, VS automatically sets the SSIS project as startup project and the package I edit as startup object.
Needless to say, this may cause some really unwanted incidents when running the solution - thinking that you're about to run the Web application project (that was explicitly set as startup project), but instead, you run the edited package in the SSIS project.
Is there any way to avoid having the SSIS project automatically setting itself as startup project, any workaround here at all? :)

I'm about to go absolutely nuts. I've tried so many things including:
1) Of course making sure Remote connections and both TCP/IP and named pipes are enabled for SQL 2005
2) Verified my connection string works. I even tested it in Enterprise Library using the tool and it connects successfully via windows authentication
3) Made sure of course my logged in user is a member of the administrator group and that my user in SQL 2005 logins has db_owner and full rights to the DB I am connecting to. I also made sure the NT AUTHORITY as well as the 3 sql service users have db_owner rights as well as the adminstrator in the SQL Server logins all have db_owner to the DB
4) Started the SQL Server Browser service, SQL Server DB engine, and SQL Server Agent
5) Made sure my site is setup right in IIS 7. I checked the connection string in there as well as it shows up in IIS7 in one of the sections. Using Windows authentication and it is enabled for my site
6) Tried running the .net site using both localhost (IIS) and also tried using the Visual Studio built-in web server. Both give this message still
When I test my connection through Enterprise Library it shows test successful!

Correct Setup For SQL Server 2005 For Web Project!

Can only write to database How would I set this up? Aug 22, 2007Hello,I've run as many keyword combinations searching for this as I canthink of, but cannot find a simple answer.The situation: I have a database that is mid-conversion/redevelopment.I frequently rebuild my dev copy from the production version, whichrequires a bunch of DDL script, and then adding in all the storedprocedures necessary to the new version only. Each sp may have changedsince the last time it was run, so I can't exactly keep them allconcatenated in a single file or anything like that.So the only way I can see to execute each and every one of these savedscript files is to open it up in SSMS and hit F5 for execute. This isa silly waste of time, it seems to me, and hardly foolproof. Is therenot some simple way to run every script in a project? May 17, 2007I am reciving a new powerful database server
My old database server runs SQL 2000 and has the CRM 3.0 app and database, our corporate web site (SharePoint Services 3.0) database, and Project Server 2007 database. The corporate site and project apps and web sites reside on our file server.
I want to move, upgrade or migrate the databases, corporate site and Project site to this new SQL 2005 server. I am a little unsure the best way to do this.
Should I move all the database first, then move the apps?
Should I do a restore of everything on the new server, and after I know it works just turn off the other server?
Am I missing a better way?
Anyone have any insight, let me know.

Using MS Access 2003 Project With SQL Server 2005
Mar 16, 2006I continue to receive an error that states "The version of Microsoft Access doesn't support design changes with the version of Microsoft SQL Server your Access project is connected to. See the Microsoft update website for the latest information."
I'm using Access 2003 that I ran a database through the Upzinging Wizard with a copy of SQL Server 2005.
I have searched the Office Update pages and can't locate anything that helps, although I'm sure I'm probably missing something.
Any suggestions?

I want to update value of a custom field for a perticular project in Project Server 2007 using PSI.
I have created 5 enterprise custom fields(A,B,C,D,E) through PWA/Server Settings.
I want to search all Projects on Server. If any project is having value for custom field A then I want to update rest of the custom fields(B,C,D,E) for that perticular project.
I dont know how to do it please help.

This Is An Access Project Linking Tables On SQL 2005 Server.
May 10, 2006Looks like the Office 2003 MS Access has no support for creating a linked server and implement design changes. While you could link to the SQL 2005 tables, which show up as queries in MS Access 2003, any further use of the linked queries are not supported unless the Access 2003 version came out after the SQL 2005 release. What kind of an update is needed, or fix is needed so that Access projects can be developed?

Apr 23, 2008I installed SQL Server Express 2005 and was able to install the sample databases. I have been working through the on-line tutorial. In Lesson 4 of the tutorial it instructs you to select File, New, Project. However, when I select File, New there is no Project choice listed. Have I failed to install something correctly?

Team Project In TFS - SSIS Project Sets Itself As The Startup Project

For some reason in a Team Foundation Team Project that has multiple project types (SSRS, SSIS, WebSite, C# Business DLL...), the SSIS project makes itself the startup project to the team project. If I explicitly set another project as the startup project to the team project and then select an SSIS package in the SSIS project in the team project, the SSIS project becomes the startup project automatically.
I am using Visual Studio 2005 SP1.

I've created a Report Model Project that can be used by Report Builder to generate ad-hoc reports. I'm trying to create a connection string in my Report Server Project that points to the Report Model Project data source view.
All I can do is create a regular datasource, which bypasses the metadata contained in the Data Source View.
Basically I want my Report Server Project and my Report Builder reports to leverage the same metadata. Is this possible? If so how do I get the connection string?

In my office computer network system (LAN), my Windows XP Pro PC has SQL Server Express and VB 2005 Express installed and I was granted to have the Administrator priviledge to access SQL Server Express. I tried to create a SQLCLR project in my terminal PC.
1) I tried to set up a remote connection to SQL Server Express in the following way: SQL Server EXpress => SQL Server Surface Area Configuration. In the Surface Area Configuration for Service and Connection - local, I clicked on Remote Connection of Database Engine, SQLEXPRESS and I had a "dot" on "Local and remote connections" and "Using TCP/IP only". Then I clicked on "Apply" and "OK" buttons. Then I went to restart my database engine in SQL Server Management. When I went to check SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration, I saw the arrow is pointing to "Service", not to "Remote Connections"!!!??? Is it right/normal? Please comment on this matter and tell me how I can have "Remote Connecton" on after I selected it.
2) After I restarted the database engine (I guess!!), I executed the following project code (copied from a book) in my VB 2005 Express:

Store application data in isolated storage.
When deploying an Office solution, check to make sure you have fulfilled all necessary requirments.

Problem In Opening The Project..Make Sure The Application For The Project Type (.dtproj) Is Installed.

I have been working on some SSIS packages for a while now and today while i was working i was trying to create a new connection and in the process there was an error and it said the BIDS has to be closed and i closed it but later when i open BIDS and try to open my project(.sln) from the file menu to work on the half done package it pops up an error which shows the path to my project location on the first line and next statement on the pop up error box says:
"Make Sure the application for the project type (.dtproj) is installed."
I tried to check some forums in which some suggested to try installing SP1 which i tried but ..i dont know why but the SP1 fails to install (i dont know if its causing problem becoz i already installed SP2 as i had some other problem before for which the cure was to install SP2).
Did anyone here face such a problem before ?
I'd really appreciate if the experts here can tell a cure for this problem.

Ok. That works fine. Executes without a hitch. So now I try and create a setup project for this and I use the setup wizard.
During the creation of the setup project I get a message that states:
The following files may have dependencies that cannot be determined automatically. Please confirm that all dependencies have been added to the project.
C:windowssystem32msxml6.dll
OK. The dll is part of the reference I mentioned above and I have no idea what other dependencies it may have.
How do I find this out?
Has anyone else created a project like this and experenced the same?
I am on a clean build running WinXP Pro with SP2 - VS2005 with SP1 and the SQL Server 2005 tools.
Integration Services :: Automate Process Of Creating A Project On SSISDB Based On SSIS Project Name?
Apr 20, 2015I've got an SSIS solution file with project deployment model in VS 2013 and would like to deploy that to SSISDB on different environments.All these days I followed the regular way to create a project in SSISDB and deploy it to that. Now want to find out if i can automate this process and so got some questions
1. Can we automate the process of creating a project on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name? This will be like when we do a deployment it should check if the project exists or not on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name, if the project exists we just deploy the packages in the project and if the project does not exists in SSISDB it will create that project and deploy the packages.
2. Can we also automate the process of creating environments? In traditional way we manually create the environment variables under environment tab of SSISDB, but can we make that also as part of deployment? Like when we are releasing to Dev server we look if that particular Dev variable exists on that server, if it exists we just update the existing stuff and if it does not exists we just create it.
Business Intelligence Project/Integration Services Project Not Showing Up In Visual Studio 2008
Mar 31, 2008I have visual studio 2005 and sql server 2005 with integration service installed on my machine. Couple of days ago, I installed visual studio 2008 professional. When I go to create SSIS project I dont see it in visual studio 2008. What do I have to do to make it appear in visual studio 2008 so that I can create SSIS projects.

Using The 2005 Express Edition For A Very Big Project

The website I'm currently building is an advertise site, and lets say it will at some point be up to 1000-5000 visitors (or even more) online on the website, searching for ads or adding ads.Can the Express Edition handle this? Or should i use MySQL instead?
Access Project Connecting To SQL 2005
Jan 12, 2007Most of our users are using MS Access project to work with our data in SQL Server 2005. The problem we have is that in order for them to access the tables they need to be given db_datareader and db_datawriter permission on the database. Our goal is not to give access to the tables themselves but to views. Therefore, we've created several views and placed them into a particular schema. Now we want to give access to that schema, but when we assign select, delete, insert, and update to that schema user in ms access project aren't able to view these tables. When we give them db_datareader permission they are able to see the views but in parentencies does not show the correct schema; therefore, when you try to open that view it errors out saying it doesn't exist. Also since they now have db_datareader they are also able to access the other view and tables in the database.
What we are looking to do is give our Access Project users the permission to link to SQL Server 2005 views by schema only.
Can't Add A SQL Database (2005 Express Edition) To A C# Project Over RDP
Jul 9, 2006Good Afternoon.
I installed C# with SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. Everything works fine on the account I installed it on, on the local machine. However.
1) I can't connect using RDP to that same account and use SQL. It times out.
2) Other users on that computer cannot make user of SQL. Also times out.
I couldn't find documentation on these issues.

Can't Open/upgrade SSRS 2005 Project In VS 2008
Nov 25, 2007I have a solution that contains SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 project. I upgraded the solution to VS 2008. The report project shows that it is not loaded. Trying to load it gives me the error - "cannot be opened because its project type (.rptproj) is not supported by this version of visual studio". Okay, so I do I convert it?!
