Start Debug Button Loading All Packages

Oct 30, 2006

I have a project with 48 packages. When I press the green button for Start Debug, it seems like Integration Svcs. is re-loading or some type of validation occurs (screen flashes with each package being highlighted in solution manager) for all packages in the project before executing the specific package.

Also, If I close all the packages except one that is to be executed and press the green start debug button, all the packages are loaded before executing the specific package. There is always a delay before the actual package is executed when using the green start debug button.

If I right click on the specific package in solution manager and execute it, the package is executed immeadiately without any delay.

I did not have this issue until I tried to build and deploy the package.

Thanks.

Where's The Start Button?

Jan 30, 2008

I just installed and registered SQL Server Express but I don't see any shortcuts or Start -> Programs links. I found the new folder it created C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2 and I tried to run this file:

C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLBinnsqlservr.exe

Nothing happens. Nada. Do I have to restart my computer?

PS: Is there a QuickStart tutorial on using its Reporting Services?

How To Debug DTSX Packages?

Aug 1, 2007

I have some familiarity with DTS packages, and find them easy ( generally) to debug as you can run them step by step and simply find the offending step. when they fail they also put a message box with the error in the centre of the screen. My system has recently been updated and now uses DTSX packages. I can open and veiw these in visual studio, but i cannot run them one step at a time, and they dont give a nice error message when they fail. how do you debug a DTSX package, or at least make debugging it a little easier?

FireError Doesn't Work When I Use Start W/o Debug

Mar 14, 2007

My custom data component is an error handler that processes data and then calls

ComponentMetaData.FireError in ProcessInput() to send the error data to the event handler per row. Everything works fine during debug/release mode. However when I run it using "Start without Debug" no errors are thrown. My event handler still catches stock component errors, so something must be wrong in this custom component. Am I suppose to set a property or something?

Thanks!

Performance Problem Loading Packages

Jul 17, 2006

We're having a performance problem with a package since an error occurred. The original error came from the Job Manager whicj was unable to start a thread. Our understanding is that this is a memory related issue and we'll deal with that.

What is realy odd is what happened after that. The package executes from a SQL Agent job that includes 3 other packages. Each package is stored on the file system. Package execution time for the affected package changed from less than a minute to over 5 minutes. The other packages continued to execute normally.

In checking the logs there is large time gap between the start of the SQL Agent step and the first pre-validation message that accounts for 4 minutes, as if there is some issue in loading the package. The issue is ongoing. Does anyone know what happens between the start of the SQL Agent job and the first prevalidate message? Is this some type of caching issue?

SQL Agent step starts at 4:05:27
First Prevalidate message: 4:09:24
Package Execution start: 4:09:57
End Execution 4:10:59

thanks

Loading Tables With An Identity Field Using DTS Packages

Aug 2, 2001

Is there a way ,(if so what is the syntax?), to set up a DTS package
that loads a table that has an identity column. I am trying to load the data from another table, (leaving the identity field unmapped), and de-selecting the "enable identity insert" from the advanced tab of the Data Transformation Properties window. I keep getting errors due to the table not allowing null values. I tried using the set_identity command, but this still did not work.
Any help would be appreciated.

SQL Server 2014 :: SSIS Packages Are Reporting Complete Before Finished Loading

Apr 26, 2015

We've recently upgraded to SQL Server 2014, and are now using SSIS integrated with Visual Studio. We have a SSIS project which contains about 20 packages which are nested in Sequence Containers and executed concurrently. These packages have been set up as project references.

The problem is that when I press the start button to run the packages, they all light up green reporting completion before the data has finished loading into the SQL database. If I press the stop button without waiting a sufficient length of time, then not all of the data gets loaded. i.e. a certain number of rows will be missing from some of the SQL tables.

If I click through to the individual package items and check the data flow progress while running, some of the data flows appear to hang at a certain number of rows without ever reaching completion. The number of rows indicated in the data flow is incorrect - i.e. it will count up to ~150,000 and stay there indefinitely in the running state, when in actual fact there are ~500,000 rows to load.

To clarify, the main package will show all items green and display the "Finished: Success" message in the log window, however when I drill through to certain packages in the set, they'll be stuck in the yellow running state, with no way of knowing whether they've actually completed or not.

My current workaround is to just wait a certain length of time before pressing the stop button. This bug doesn't seem to inhibit rows being loaded - it just incorrectly identifies the point when the load finishes, causing people to terminate the load prematurely.

This issue only occurs if I run the project from the main package container. If I execute the child packages individually, they correctly report the number of rows being loaded and light up green once complete.

Calling SSIS Packages From ASP.NET - Packages With File System Tasks End Abruptly

Jan 9, 2007

I've run into a problem with SSIS packages wherein tasks that write or copy files, or create or delete directories, quit execution without any hint of an error nor a failure message, when called from an ASP.NET 2.0 application running on any other machine than the one where the package was created from. By all indications it appeared to be an identity/permissions problem.

Our application involves a separate web server and database server. Both have SQL Server 2005 installed, but the application server originally only had Integration services. The packages are file system-deployed on the application server, and are called using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime methods. For all packages that involve file system tasks, the above problem occurs.

When the above packages are run using the command prompt (either DTEXEC or DTEXECUI) the packages execute just fine. This is expected since we are using an administrative account. However when a ShellExecute of the same command is called from ASP.NET, the same problem occurs.

I've tried giving administrative permissions to the ASPNET worker process user to no avail.

I have likewise attempted to use the SQL Server Agent job approach but that approach might not be acceptable for our clients since it means installing SQL Server 2005 Database services on the application server.

I have read the relevant threads in this forum, namely http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1044739&SiteID=1 and http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=927084&SiteID=1 but failed to find any solution appropriate for our set up.

Anybody got any idea on how to go about this?

Integration Services :: Remotely Execute Packages On SSIS Server - Packages Are Deployed In File System

Apr 22, 2015

We manage some SSIS servers, which has only SSIS and SSIS tools installed on them and not the sql server DB.

SSIS packages and configuration files are deployed on a NAS. We run the SSIS packages through DTEXEC by logging in to the server.

We want to allow developers to run their packages on their own on the server, but at the same time we dont want to give them physical access on the server i.e we do not want to add them into RDP users list on server properties. We want them to allow running their packages remotely on the server.

One way We could think of is by using powershell remoting and we are working on that. But is there any other way or any tool already present for the same.

Upgrading System To Run DTSX Packages Instead Of DTS Packages

Aug 2, 2006

Hi all

Our data management system currently runs DTS packages using DTSPKG.dll.

I am currently looking at the possibliity of replacing the DTS packages and SQL 2000 with DTSX packages using SSIS in SQL 2005.

Do I need a new dll? or will the current dtspkg.dll handle the new DTSX packages?

Many thanks in advance!

Debug Is Greyed Out?

Sep 5, 2006

I know there's a trick to this, that I can't figure out.

Have an SSIS package that I developed and deployed/saved(?) to a file on the SSIS server. Now I need to change the data flows. Did that, no issues, lets me resave the file, but I can't debug or execute the package so I can test what I did is right? Why is the debug drop down box greyed out? There's gotta be something I'm missing here.

THanks,

Lezza

Can Not Debug Component?

Oct 13, 2006

Who can help me?

I defined project properties:

Start action--start external program : dtexec

Action options--command line arguments: /f ***.dtsx (using component which i debug)

Configuration: active(debug)

I specified breakpoint

after clicking build,dtexec can popup but then generate error:

The following modle was built either with optimizations enabled or without debug information

C:winntassemblyGAC_MSIL******.dll

To debug this module,change it's project configuration to debug mode.

I have no idea about this,and i can find my dll file in C:winntassembly,but no GAC_MSIL folder

Who can help me? Thanks in advance

SQL && C# Help On A Button Click!!!

Mar 7, 2008

Hey Guys,
I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this but I am trying to achieve the following:
I have a row (In this case it is information on a fix) and on a button click I am trying to get it to "archive" it.  At the moment I have it so that it it takes the current information and adds it to the archive table adding an archive date.  The thing that I am struggling with is incrementing the version number. So, I need it to (in these steps I think) - Look for existance of the other entires of that ID, look for the version number that is related to the newest date of those knowledgeIDs and then add 1 to it.  If that knowledgeID doesnt exist then add it as one.
My current code is below:
Thanks in Advance =)
C# Codeprotected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{UserName = (string)Session["UserName"];
Label4.Text = UserName + " Is Current Logged In";UserType = (string)Session["UserType"];if ((Session["UserName"] != null) & (UserType == "Helpdesk"))
{Response.Redirect("Accessrights.aspx");
}else if (Session["UserName"] == null)
{Response.Redirect("Login.aspx");
}
FixName = "default";Description = "default";File = "default";
ADate = myCalendar.TodaysDate.ToShortDateString();
AddDate = Convert.ToDateTime(ADate);myConnectionString = "Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=C:\inetpub\wwwroot\HOF\App_Data\HOF.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True;";
}protected void Button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection(myConnectionString);
try
{
FixName = TextBox1.Text;
 SqlCommand myCommand = new SqlCommand("select * from Knowledge WHERE FixName like '%" + FixName + "%'", myConnection);
myConnection.Open();SqlDataReader myReader = myCommand.ExecuteReader();if (myReader.HasRows)
{while (myReader.Read())
{
TextBox1.Text = myReader["FixName"].ToString();TextBox2.Text = myReader["Description"].ToString();
File = myReader["Location"].ToString();if (File != null)
{
TextBox3.Text = File;
}
else
{TextBox3.Text = "There is no script avaliable";
}KnowledgeID = myReader["KnowledgeID"].ToString();Add = myReader["DateAdded"].ToString();
}
myConnection.Close();
}
else
{TextBox1.Text = FixName + "Does not Exist. Please try again.";
}
}catch (Exception ex)
{
myConnection.Close();
}
try
Description = TextBox2.Text;File = Convert.ToString(FileUpload1.FileName);if (CheckBox1.Checked == true)
{SAPPS = "True";
}
else
{SAPPS = "False";
}
{SqlCommand mycommand2 = new SqlCommand("INSERT INTO Knowledge (FixName, Description, Location, DateAdded, DateArchived, Version, KnowledgeID) SET ('" + FixName + "','" + Description + "','" + File + "','" + Add + "','"+AddDate+"','" + SAPPS + "','"+I NEED A VALUE HERE+"','"+KnowledgeID+"')", myConnection);SqlDataAdapter myDataAdapter = new SqlDataAdapter(mycommand2);
sa = mycommand.ExecuteNonQuery();
myConnection.Close();
}catch (Exception ex)
{
myConnection.Close();

Web Form Button ?

Sep 24, 2004

I need to make a query to a SQLserver db passing values from a dropdownlist and two text boxes as my criteria. Now if nothing is selected and the button is pressed, I would like to return everything that is part of my Select statement. I am having trouble making my sql statement work.

Im sending you my code as an attachment. I've put * around the area i really need help with.

Even if you could just point me in the right direction as to where to look for a good web forms book using VB.NET and ASP.NET I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Jose

Back Button

Jun 2, 2008

Hello.
When I'm useing a report in reportViewer I have a "back button" in the the viewer which let me go back to my parent report after jumping to another report.

I wanted to make a bigger button like that on the report so I tried to simulate it by creating my own textback and use a javascript to go back one page.

This doesn't work since the javascript doesn't work as well as the built in bottun.
Is there a way to simulate this button any way?

Thanks.

Click Button?

Oct 15, 2007

Hi everyone, Im using SSRS 2000 and I was wondering is there a way to create a click button??? I have 2 reports linked with hyperlinks but I wanted to make it look more presentable. So, instead of just clicking on the words, I want them to click the button.

Thanks in advance,

Abner
