Stored Procedure To Upload Data From One Db To Remote Db
Jul 20, 2005
I have a situation where I want to take data from a local sql server
2000 db and update a remote database. I have the sql all set, was
wondering if this can be done in a timed interval with a stored
procedure on the local db.
I am trying to save an uploaded image and its associated info to sql server database using a stored procedure but keep getting trouble. When trying to save, the RowAffected always return -1. but when i debug it, I dont' see problem both from stored procedure server explore and codebehind. it looks to me every input param contains correct value(such as the uploaded image file name, contentType and etc). well, for the imgbin its input param value returns something like "byte[] imgbin={Length=516}". Below is my code, could anyone help to point out what did I do wrong? Thank you.
Hey I've been trying to upload a sql express database to my webserver with out much success :( When I upload it I get permission problems so I think anyway I've been reading around and it looks like i'm stuck with having to let the server create the database file again Is there anyway i can upload this file to the webserver and get it working 100%?
I have a database on my local system and I use Sql Server 2005 express. Now I need to upload the database in the hosting server. I have tried Management Studio Express.
I'm just wondering exactly how, as i will need to do it next week (providing I complete the first ASPNET site I've ever developed) and my tech support @my hosting does not seem to be familiar with the process in great detail.
Hi! We are using Delphi application to call stored procedure remotely. With SQL Server 6.5 everything worked perfectly. After upgrate to SQL Server 7.0 the following error message appear: Can't find stored procedure. When I open SQL Ent.Manager and run stored procedure locally, there is no problem exist. Thank you in advance. Anny
I need to execute the stored procedure/sql statement from different sql server.I have described below, what i have done to do this...if it is not the correct process, please let me know the correct one.....thanks
I have added the remote server on local server by using the following....
Hi, I was wondering is anyone can help me out on this one, I want to run a query, but I need to reference a Database that exists on a different server. I am using SQL 6.5 Any suggestions would be welcomed, Thanks a mill, Fin
How can my receiver's queue procedure execute a procedure on another server? Everytime it gets to that remote procedure statement, I get DISCONNECTED_INBOUND status. The procedure I want to call is on SQL 2000.
Hi, I have created an report by selecting stored procedure as dataset data source. Now when I run the report, it is asking for the parameter values for my stored procedure, but I want to pass the values from another .aspx page. Could any one please let me how do I pass values to the stored procedure parameters in the report. I tried doing the Local method of reports, but the printer icon is not appearing in that, if I use Reportviewer control of my own. When I use the Remote method of reports, I am facing this problem. Please could any one help me in this.
This is an ugly duck query but it seems to work fine. when I try to directly execute the remote stored procedure such as with
insert into query_log exec remoteServer.master.dbo.##up_fetchQuery
I get execution error
Server: Msg 2812, Level 16, State 62, Line 1 Could not find stored procedure '##up_xportQueryLog'. Database name 'master' ignored, referencing object in tempdb.
When I try
insert into query_log exec remoteServer.tempdb.dbo.##up_fetchQuery
I get
Server: Msg 2812, Level 16, State 62, Line 1 Could not find stored procedure '##up_xportQueryLog'. Database name 'tempdb' ignored, referencing object in tempdb. with
insert into query_log exec remoteServer..dbo.##up_fetchQuery
or
insert into query_log exec remoteServer...##up_fetchQuery
I get
Server: Msg 2812, Level 16, State 62, Line 1 Could not find stored procedure '##up_xportQueryLog'.
I guess the remote server has trouble resolving the name of the global temp stored procedure when its reference comes in as a remote stored procedure calls. Is there any way to directly call a global temp stored procedure from a remote server or do I need to stick with this goofy-looking work-around?
I couldn't debug SQL Server by "Step into Stored Procedure" on Server Explorer of VS2008 (or VS2005) to SQL 2005 Developer on remote Windows Server 2003 machine, it allway issue exception "Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Could not attach to SQL Server process on 'Server'. Click Help for more information"
1) The environment: The Client: Windows XP SP2 (WORKGROUP) Visual Studio 2008 (or VS2005)
The SQL Server Machine: Windows 2003 Server Sp1 (DOMAIN) SQL Server 2005 Developer
2) User account and Permission login: I create the same user account for both Client and Domain Server with the same password, i also add that user to "Administrators" group in both machine.
At the SQL Server on Server machine, i added that account to ServerSecurityLogin with 'sysadmin' role already
3) Connection and authentication: I used "Windows Authentication" for my connection to SQL server, and i checked sure my account of the connection by SQL command
SELECT SYSTEM_USER, IS_SRVROLEMEMBER ('sysadmin')
4) Firewall: I checked firewall like MSDN helping (i also tried to test by turn off firewall in both machine)
5) Visual Studio Remote Debugger: I read "How to: Enable SQL Server 2005 Debugging" on MSDN with comment "The SQL Server can run on the same machine as the application or on a remote machine. If you are debugging T-SQL code only, then no remote setup is required." so i didn't config Visual Studio Remote Debugger any thing.
Note: If i "Step Into Store Procedure" at Server locally, it works okey, so on at my PC client locally. But if i move debugging from my client to my Server, it occur error "Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Could not attach to SQL Server process on 'Server'. Click Help for more information"???
If i execute store procedure on Server Explore, it works okey!
What I am looking to do is use a complicated stored procedure to getdata for me while in another stored procedure. Its like a view, but a view you can't pass parameters to.In essence I would like a sproc that would be like thisCreate Procedure NewSprocASSelect * from MAIN_SPROC 'a','b',.....WHERE .........Or Delcare Table @TEMP@Temp = MAIN_SPROC 'a','b',.....Any ideas how I could return rows of data from a sproc into anothersproc and then run a WHERE clause on that data?ThanksChris Auer
I am rewritting our DTS that upload tables in FoxPro to SQL Server using SSIS. I am finding the that SSIS is way slower. My uploads using DTS take just 7 minutes where doing the same thing in SSIS is taking 1 hour 15 minutes.
I need to call a stored procedure to insert data into a table in SQL Server from SSIS data flow task. I am currently trying to use OLe Db Destination, but I am not sure how to map inputs to OLE DB Destination to my stored procedure insert. Thanks
Hello!! i need to upload a csv file to sql server, i am trying to load using bcp or bulk load, but the files has null columns, so i guess, that's why the program is displaying error.
Simple question: How do I import/upload/insert data into a new database using MS SQL Server Management Studio Express, from a source like MSAccess or another SQL DB? I currently have a sample sql db (sample.bak), but unless I originally had it in MS SQL Server Management Studio Express it doesn't appear to want to restore it.
Every month, a huge data need to upload from a Access table to a SQL server table. If I use odbc to do it will cause a heavy network traffic. What is the best way to do it?
I've read the other posts related to this issue, but I'm just REALLY confused as to whats happening in my case. Like everyone else it was working fine in SQL 2000 but now in SQL 2005 there is an issue. I'm calling a stored procedure with parameters defined like this:
When I execute the call to the stored proc I get this:
"The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Parameter 8 ("@BaseDebit"): The supplied value is not a valid instance of data type numeric. Check the source data for invalid values. An example of an invalid value is data of numeric type with scale greater than precision."
Using the VS.NET command window I then inspect that parameter to see what the heck is going on and get this:
So I set a decmial parameter to 1,000,000, that parameter in the DB is defined as decimal(28,13) so should fit no problem, but it seems the Sql data provider is confused and thinks 1,000,000 is decimal (0,22)???
Hi, I am trying to upload query data to a CSV file. I have created a DTS package and its running fine when i run it manually. But, when i schedule it is not updating the query contents.
I need your help to do this task: 1. i have one query to pull all details 2. another query to pull summary info 3. i have to write a csv file with the results of above two queries. filename has to be in the given format. 4. This job has to run daily and upload file with latest data.
For the first time, it is uploading files correctly. But next time onwards, it is uploading the same contents. I have used global variables to store the query output value (RowSet) and used ActiveX Script to read the variable and write to a file.
The problem is it is not refreshing the query contents.
I need to store the data from a web page having different controls to SQL Server 2000 database. The columns were created as of type "NVARCHAR", but when I enter any mixed data for example (sunder??) in two or more languages, only english characters are stored and other language characters are stored as ????. How can I solve this? Please help me out. Is it possible to store such multilingual content in a single column.
I have a database in my local system. here every thing is working fine. now i need to upload the database in the hosting server. i dont know how to upload the db. so i sent a msg to my hosting support center , they told "use microsoft enterprise manager software for upload". pls let me guide how to upload through enterprise manager. please. i know the remote database username and password.
Hi all - I'm trying to optimized my stored procedures to be a bit easier to maintain, and am sure this is possible, not am very unclear on the syntax to doing this correctly. For example, I have a simple stored procedure that takes a string as a parameter, and returns its resolved index that corresponds to a record in my database. ie exec dbo.DeriveStatusID 'Created' returns an int value as 1 (performed by "SELECT statusID FROM statusList WHERE statusName= 'Created') but I also have a second stored procedure that needs to make reference to this procedure first, in order to resolve an id - ie: exec dbo.AddProduct_Insert 'widget1' which currently performs:SET @statusID = (SELECT statusID FROM statusList WHERE statusName='Created')INSERT INTO Products (productname, statusID) VALUES (''widget1', @statusID) I want to simply the insert to perform (in one sproc): SET @statusID = EXEC deriveStatusID ('Created')INSERT INTO Products (productname, statusID) VALUES (''widget1', @statusID) This works fine if I call this stored procedure in code first, then pass it to the second stored procedure, but NOT if it is reference in the second stored procedure directly (I end up with an empty value for @statusID in this example). My actual "Insert" stored procedures are far more complicated, but I am working towards lightening the business logic in my application ( it shouldn't have to pre-vet the data prior to executing a valid insert). Hopefully this makes some sense - it doesn't seem right to me that this is impossible, and am fairly sure I'm just missing some simple syntax - can anyone assist?
I have written the following stored procedure to export a csv file. I am wanting to put a If statement in here so if view UDEF_DISPATCHER_INTERFACE_ORDER_HEADER_VIEW returns nothing then the procedure does not run.
INSERT INTO UDEF_DISPATCHER_INTERFACE_ORDER_HEADER_TABLE_TEMP SELECT * FROM UDEF_DISPATCHER_INTERFACE_ORDER_HEADER_VIEW
INSERT INTO UDEF_DISPATCHER_INTERFACE_ORDER_LINE_TABLE_TEMP SELECT * FROM UDEF_DISPATCHER_INTERFACE_ORDER_LINE_VIEW
I need to upload bulk data into a datatable. Some of the source data will already exist in the target table to be updated. How can I INSERT only the new data into this datatable? Thanks.
