Stored Procedure Giving Error When Searching On Date Range

I've  a report whose columns are returned from a stored procedure. Now I want to display the report based on a date range. The date field is Received. It's in dbo.master. I added 2 parameters start date and end date. When I check the condition if dbo.master.Received>StartDate and dbo.master.Received < EndDate directly I'm getting error.
