I create this html file on the fly in my asp.net application abd what i would like to do is to store it inside my sql2005 database. What would be the best way?
The html file itself is not really big. Probably not more then 600 - 800 characters most. I was thinking the text type fields of the database and then when retreiving it dump it inside in a file and save the file with html extention.
Hi All, I am not sure whether this is the right place to post this question. But I am unable to figure out what is the best solution to retrieve and display an image in a html file(stored in varbinary(max) column). I have a list of images in the file and I am supposed to display them. Can anybody please let me know what is the best way to do this? Thanks a lot!!
Hello there,I just want to ask if storing data in dbase is much better than storing it in the file system? Because for one, i am currenlty developing my thesis which uploads a blob.doc file to a web server (currently i'm using the localhost of ASP.NET) then retrieves it from the local hostAlso i want to know if im right at this, the localhost of ASP.NET is the same as the one of a natural web server on the net? Because i'm just thinking of uploading and downloading the files from a web server. Although our thesis defense didn't require us to really upload it on the net, we were advised to use a localhost on our PC's. I'll be just using my local server Is it ok to just use a web server for storing files than a database?
Hi I am developing a project in asp.net. And i need to store html content in sql server. Will anybody tell me which datatype should be used for storing html tags in sql server.
for example i want to store <a href="abc.asp">abc.asp</a> in database. and when I retrive it back from database it should be real html tag and not string. Thanks
I just want to know how to search text/record inside the Html files. I had one column in my database named €˜Path€™ I saved the html file names in this column and the physical files in a folder. Full Text search is enabled on this column. Whenever I try to search it returns nothing.
Just need one small example to know how it works, what functions used to search inside the files and how.
I have records with 50 plus fields of data.I was thinking of writing all the fields data into a XML file and then store it in a SQL server database for retrieval later on.Is there anyway i can go about doing this?

I have a ssis package where I need to have excel destination. Â In the Excel file, I need to have few rows with some text and then populate data below the text. One the text is like this:
Data as of: Â 08/25/2015
if the report ran today, then Data as of will have Yesterday. So, if the user opens that excel file after a week, then user should see same  Data as of:  08/25/2015. not today()-day(1).
I was planing to handle on excel side with today()-day(1). but it only works the day it was run. Then the excel file is open after few days later, then it might as Data as of:  08/30/2015 which is not true. It should still stay Data as of:
 08/25/2015 on what ever date the excel file is open. The SSIS package  runs only once.Â
How do I handle this so that whenever user open the file, they will see Data as of:  08/25/2015. This is not a column in excel. It is like a description of data in excel.
I sent a HTML file as text message using xp_smtp_sendmail from my SQL server but the test email that I received doesn't look like the HTML file I have originally. Below are my codes:-

I am having trouble with the following:An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file (file location).../Database.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share. It has only begun since i decided i wanted to use IIS, I realise VWD comes with its own localhost, but since it is only temporary, i wanted a permanent shortcut on my desktop to link to my intranet page. Anyone have any ideas why i am getting the above error? have searched many places on the internet and not getting any closer. Cheers ~ J

I was thinking along the Charindex but cant seem to get it right.
We replicate a SQL2000 database (DataBaseA) to a SQL2000 database (DataBaseB) by using the Restore function and hasn't change its logical name but only the physical data path and file name. It is running fine for a year. We use the same way to migrate the DataBaseB to a new SQL2005 server with the Restore function and the daily operation is running perfect. However, when we do the Backup of DatabaseB in the SQL2005, it just prompt the error message
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlError: The backup of full-text catalog 'DataBaseA' is not permitted because it is not online. Check errorlog file for the reason that full-text catalog became offline and bring it online. Or BACKUP can be performed by using the FILEGROUP or FILE clauses to restrict the selection to include only online data. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo)
Please note we left the DataBaseA in the old SQL2000 server.
Please help on how we can delete the Full-text catalog from DatabaseB so we can do a backup
We are using a VB component which utilises a FILE DSN to connect to SQL but we have noticed that when using SQL Authentication in setting up the DSN in the control panel the password does not get saved. So the only way we can connect is to have a user with no password i.e blank.
we only noticed this when we tried to use a user other than sa which happened to have a password that is blank.
Has anybody else found a solution to this problem ?
In SQL 2005, what is the best way to take a text file and store it in a table field, then later extract that file to a directory with original name and format intact?
I am retrieving a field from SQL and displaying that data on a web page. The data contains a mixture of text and html codes, like this "<b>test</b>". But rather than displaying the word test in bold, it is displaying the entire sting as text. How do I get it to treat the HTML as HTML?

I have a file that is automatically generated by an external process that will always have the same name + a date stamp.I will say test_(Datestamp).txt
what i am trying to do is use sql to bulk insert this file but i will not know the full file name as the date stamp is also includes time. What my script is doing is taking this file everyday storing its contents temporarily in a table where i then use a trigger to edit and repopulate the table and kick out a new file that another external process uses.

I let it run and it keeps saying that the file does not exist. Seem as though, the path of my file doesn't exist! Any suggestions on how to program the path of my file so I can be able to retreive it such as open the file and access the file?

I have a package that processes a flat file, which is generated by a separate system each weekday around 3:30AM. I would like my package to store the timestamp of the input file and compare it to the timestamp of the next day's file. If they are the same, then the package can exit without reprocessing a particular file again.
So, my first question is whether a package variable can be updated so that its value will persist from one run to the next?
Second, what is the syntax to retrieve the file's timestamp, either directly from the file connection manager or within a script task?
I am trying to create a file DSN to link a password protected access satabase to SQL server anywhere backend. I create the DSN using Microsoft Access Driver, Select my access database, go to advanced properties and type in the database password (user ID is admin). However, everytime I change records in the SQL front end, I am prompted to enter the Access database password. It doesn't seem to be storing it.
Good Morning, I'm not quite sure this is the right place to post this, but i'll try anyway. I have a website where I allow people to create their own layouts in HTML, and in the HTML I have them placeing markers (eg. |1| ) where they would like to place something from a database. All the HTML is stored in a SQL Server DB, and when I pull it out, it's fine, except it won't allow me to Replace any of the markers with values from the DB. Here's and example line of HTML that's held in the DB:<table width='50%' border='1'><tr><td>|0|</td><td>|1|</td></tr> and when I do a strHtml.Replace("|0|", dReader["somefield"].ToString()) or even just a strHtml.Replace("|0|", "Test") it never changes it.
