Printer Margins Are Not Respected When Printing Reports.

I believe this is an extension of the problem described here:

The service pack for Visual Studio has fixed the problem when I print my report from VS, however when I deploy and print my reports from the SSRS website they are still incorrect.

My SSRS server is running SQL 2005 with service pack 2 installed and the 9.00.3152 9333097 Cumulative hotfix package (build 3152) for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 also applied.

I find it hard to believe the problem was fixed in the developer tool but NOT in the client tool?

How can I develop reports when the output from the developer tool is different to the output from the client tool?

For example I specify a box to be 5cm wide, and when printed from visual studio it is 5cm wide, but when printed from the SSRS website it is not 5cm wide!

Problem With Printing Report Directly To Printer

Hello,
I am trying to get a SSRS 2005 report to print from my Visual Studio 2005 C++ application without using the ReportViewer to preview it first. What I have done is created a dll that I call into when I want to access a certain report and print it. While searching around on the internet I found an MSDN article about printing a report without previewing and it had an example in C# code. So I used that as a guide for my C++ code but I am still having problems with rendering the report properly so it can be printed. When I try to render a report using the "Image" format, my streamid string is empty but the byte array that the render routine returns is not. Here is the code I am using, what could be the problem here?

Strange Error On Linked Server - Cannot Open Default Database

Hi,We have 2 servers. Server1 is a 2000 box, with SP3 (yes I know it isnot up to date). Server2 is a 2005 box, SP2.I set up Server1 (2000) to have a linked server to Server2 (2005). Thereason I did this is because we are using a stored procedure onServer2 to send mail, as we have found that using mail on 2000 doesn'talways work as advertised.When I set up the linked server on the 2000 box, for security I justset it up to use a SQL Server user on the 2005 box. The SQL Serveruser on the 2005 box has permissions to run the stored procedure forsending mail.Here's the weird thing though. When calling the stored procedure onthe 2005 box from the 2000 box, sometimes we get an error that "Thedefault database cannot be opened", and the query does not run on the2005 box. However, it only happens *sometimes*. Other times, the queryruns fine.Since the problem seeemed to be with the default database, I changedthe SQL Server user on 2005 default database to the SAME database thatcontains the stored procedure.However, I just don't understand why it's even TRYING to open thedefault database, since when we called the linked server we are doingso as, and it's referencing the default database in the name:EXEC Server2.DefaultDatabase.dbo.StoredProcedureNameHowever, after changing the user's default database to"DefaultDatabase" as shown above, the query runs fine.Why are we having this problem? That is, if I change the defaultdatabase to something other than "DefaultDatabase", then the querydoesn't run, even though the database name is referenced in the abovequery??Obviously, this is not desireable, because that means we can only runqueries that are in "DefaultDatabase", which may not always be thecase.Thanks much

Transact SQL :: Printing Report - Capture Actual Pages In A Duplex Printing Job

So I have been asked by our sustainability person to create report from our printing data that actually shows the number of pieces of paper used. This is easy enough for single-sided printing, but when printing in duplex the software does not take into account that 3 printing pages actually equates to 2 pieces of paper. I know this sounds simple, but say I have a print job record that looks like this:

Submitted printed total_pages duplex
8/10/2015 8/10/2015 42 1

This is a print jobs that if done correctly is actually 21 pages( duplex printing). If the job is say total_pages =5 I cant just divide by 2 because its actually using 3 pieces of paper ( yes they are wanting this data don't ask why). How can I adjust some sql to accurately depict 5 pages, front and back, as 3 pieces of paper?

Landscape Printing From Report Manager Not Printing All Displayed Columns On Each Page

I have deployed a report that is configured for landscape printing. It does print in landscape, however, only the first seven columns appear on the first page and the other five columns appear on the next page. Is there a method, like in print preview setup in MS Excel, where we can scale down the print (like to 80%) so all columns appear on each page?

I am trying to modify the Printer Delivery Sample (RS 2005).
The original sample works fine: there was no any problem with deployment and running it.

What I need to accomplish is saving each delivered report as a local XML file.

For now (to start with), I'm just trying to read the rendered report as XML, and write the string (whatever the report contains) into a text file.

After I re-deploy the modified assembly and create a simple subscription, it fires, and there are no exceptions. But instead of some good-looking XML in the test.txt file, I get this:

I have a windows NT service, which prints to a laser printer programmatically using MSRS 2K. It works fine with a HP printer however when I try printing to a Lexmark Printer it does not always print. Somebody help. Microsoft please release a latest patch for MSRS 2K, its been so long since we had one.

The code below is a class file done in vb.net. The original idea came from reading this forum and some blogs.

To use the code below, you can create a windows application or service.

then create a class file and drop this code in it.

Remeber to reference the 2005 report execution service and also in the program settings include the path to your server.

IE: ReportExecutionService = http://localhost/ReportServer/ReportExecution2005.asmx or whatever your server URL is at.

Setup the public properties for printername (sharenames work fine), Number of copies and Report name.

That is all there is to it. This code is REALLY expandable to add more options.

Howto Remove Printer Symbol

I am looking for a way to remove the printer symbol from the report manger because it dows not work on some client machines because they are locked down. For us it is completely sufficient to export to PDF.

Instructing A Printer To Print In Landscape Mode?

My company has a .Net app that embeds the reportwriter for displaying (and printing) reports. This seems to work fine visa vis printing reports in landscape mode, although odly if you look at the printer properties it SAYS it is priting in portrait. In any case, the problem comes when this default reportwriter isn't used but rather an rdl file is generated programmatically. No matter what width and height settings we use, the document unfailingly prints in portrait mode. I've looked to see whether there is any way to force the printer mode, but it seems there isn't, at least not through an rdl. Or what SHOULD work (setting the width larger than the heigh) does not. I'm wondering if anyone else here has run into difficulties like this if there are any solutions or places I might look for answers? Thanks!

Strange, Very Strange (BIDS)

Hi everyone,

I��m suffering a queer behaviour when I use BIDS. Concretely, when I open a dtsx from my project (it has 10 packages) many times Sequence Container and Data Flow tasks are invisible. I mean, its lines are not visible at all whereas its titles are. I mean, what you see is just a white box��

Then, I��m gonna Data Flow layer and I have to do double-clik over the tasks and are visible but on Control Flow I don��t see how to solve.

Curiously in our development and production server such behaviour doesn��t happen (we are accessing by mean Terminal Server from our workstations)

How odd!. Everything is fine except this.

I want to remark you that such project has been copied from the server, this is, these packages are been built on the server

Default is not permitted as a constant - below fails to parse:

I looked through a couple of database books I have and I really didn't find anything about printing.

My question is can you print the data directly from a database in C# or do you have to write it all to a textfile then print the textfile?

Be easier just to do it from the database and eliminate the text coding, just not sure you can do that.

Date Picker Bug - Drops The Default Value And Displays Default Value As Todays Date

Hi,
Does anyone have a workaround or know of a fix to this problem:
Default value set to 'date pick' from date currently within field by setting value equal to that field . ie if date is 01/01/2010 date picker opens in Jan 2010 - works ok.
However, once published to Sharepoint and run through browser the Date Picker ignores the default value and the date picker opens for today. ie April 2008.

I am developing an applicaiton through which, i want to print from pocket pc emulator 2003. I am using PrinterCE.NETCF SDK to do this task. I am able to print from my applicaiton like we do in ASP (Printing one line at a time). In PrinterCE, there is an option of printing the output to a file. But, I am not able to find how we do it.

So, I want to know how we can print the output through PrinterCe into a file. Can anybody help me??

Hey all,
I'm new to SQL and am having some troubles w/ a problem I was given.
I have two tables (OrderTableA & OrderTableB) which are linked by an OrderID. What I need to do is have the two tables printed out to two txt files. Below is the code I have so far.

I'm not sure my code above is correct so far, and I've no idea how to print this to two txt files.

Hi i'm having a problem in printing a reporting services report. Between each page it's giving me a white paper. What can i do in order not to get the white papers anymore? Any help?

Can I Force Printing?

I have a script or SP that takes a very long time to performmultiple tasks, and after each one there is a PRINT statementthat shows the time and what was just accomplished, to help memonitor what's happening and estimate how long it will take.In a script, I can put a GO after each PRINT to cause the outputto appear immediately, but that's not possible inside an SP.Instead, it seems the output goes to a buffer, and the bufferis only output when a PRINT causes the buffer to become full.Sometimes there is a long delay before the buffer fills. Isthere a way other than GO to cause immediate printing? (Iguess I could just use longer messages, and fill up thebuffer with every one, but that's not very elegant.)Thanks,Jim GCountrywide Home Loans

Problem With Printing

Hi! I recently begin to use reporting tools of SLQ 2005 instead of AR or CR. I found the DUI very easy to use and I'm partially sastify beause when I try to print my report, the printer always blow out a second white page. For one page report I can live with that but for 156 page report it's becoming a lot annoing. Is there somebody who experience the same problem? And by the way resolve it?

Here the dexcription of the report:

Is a list grouped by clientId with a sub report getting the clientId from the parent one as the parameter. Event with the insert page break after list true or false the result is the same while printing.

Printing Issue

I have created a blank report in VS 2005. I set the pagesize to 21cm x 29,7cm (A4) and margins to 1cm. Body size is 19cm x 27,7cm. I set the body border to 1pt. When I print this blank report I won't get printed as I expcted. The printed margins are very different from the margins which I set. Hos can I solve this problem?

Images Does Not Appear In Printing

Kindly I need to infrom you that i make report in reporting service 2005 and there is an image in this report that i retrieve it from database

im sure that the error not in retrieveing and not the sp because that in report preview the image appear but in printing not appear

i put the some image propertise like:

mimetype:image/bmp and sizing :FitProportional

the second point :
i need to ask if can i make the report when printing can make it as default that appear in A4 not letter

I need Help as soon as possible

Printing From Web Application

Hi,

We are displaying the reports in Web Application using Report Viewer control.When we run the report and want to take printout we are clicking on Print button of Report Viewer then it is giving error "Unable to Load Print control" Install some activex control.

With out this error how can we print the report. How to overcome this waring.
