Suspect Database Attempting To Populate Large Table
May 2, 2007
I am trying to load in to a new application's database to see if my load procedures will be able to handle the volume and how long I should plan on when I perform our cut over for production. Unfortunately, trying to copy 5.4M rows from one staging table into a production processing table consistently leaves the database in a suspect status, usually stating to perform some type of disk consistency check utility. It happens time after time, is there anything obvious that I could look at to see why this is happening?

Hi
I want to suspect database
stop server first
I try to rename C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDatamsdbdata.mdf to msdbdata.sav
and then start the server
use command to check:
SELECT status & 256 FROM master.dbo.sysdatabases WHERE name = database_name
if the result is 256,it means the msdb is suspect, but the result is 0,it same as the normal status
do you know how to set database suspect with this way, or do you know other way to suspect databse.
absolutely,I could re-back my server noraml with your way
Thanks

I am attempting to run an SSIS package that, among other things, imports a spreadsheet from excel into a database table. The package runs without any issues within Visual Studio. I have tried executing the package through both, the MSDB run package and through dtexec (trying to kick of the package through a stored procedure) and I get 2 different behaviors.
Using dtexec (the method I really need to use): The package will run successfully...up to the point when the spreadsheet is imported at which time it fails with Description: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009. Here is the code:
exec xp_cmdshell 'dtexec /sq PopulateTRTLStationandtRTLUnitMapping /ser SERVERNAME
Running it through the MSDB Run Package UI...It will also make it up to the point where the Excel spreadsheet is imported but errors with: The Product level is insufficient for the component "Lookup Station and Account Type: (1894) ...and 1 line with that same error for every single task in that dataflow. Here is the code it runs.
/DTS "MSDBPopulateTRTLStationandtRTLUnitMapping" /SERVER "SERVERNAME" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING V
The machine is running 32 bit OS Windows Server 2003 SP1 and Db SQL Server 2005 32 bit. I found one forum posting that suggested turning the Delay Validation property to True...but that did not fix the issue. I did create the package with my username with a ProtectionLevel of EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey. I don't think it is related to the account however because all of the tasks (serveral work tables are created) up to the Excel import will execute.
I really need to get this working as soon as possible so am open to any solutions someone can present.

Im a newbie with a sql table in a MSDE database that contains fields ofCustName, BrokerName, Type, Status.I am trying to write a trigger that does this:1. When a new record in a table is added, I would like the selectedfields to be copied to another table (call it Master).2. If that Master table already contains a record where the CustName =CustName, then simply ignore. If CustName does not match anything, thenadd the record to the Master TableIn other words, I am trying to create a table (or even a new database)that has unique records in it - making a master customer list.Any hints on how to get started on this?

Hi, all experts here,
I am wondering if tempdb stores all results tempararily whenever I query a large fact table with over 4 million records which joins another dimension table? Since each time when I run the query, the tempdb grows to nearly 1GB which nearly runs out all the space on my local system drive, as a result the performance totally down. Is there any way to fix this problem? Thanks a lot in advance and I am looking forward to hearing from you shortly for your kind advices.
With best regards,
Yours sincerely,

I receive the following error when trying to add a local database to my project.
"The data provider required to connect to the local data file could not found. The file will be added to the project but the typed DataSet associated with the file will not be generated."
I've reinstalled VS2k8, SQL Compact 3.1 and SQL Compact 3.5 on my machine and still receive the error.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I saw another similar thread about this in the VB2k8Express forum, but there were no helpful answers there. (for the curious: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2769854&SiteID=1)
I haven't used the SSCE before and so it's possible I've mistakenly omitted some required items.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I am receiving the following error:
Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition
I am trying to insert values into a temp table, using values from the table I copied the structure from, like this:
SELECT TOP 1 * INTO #tbl_User_Temp FROM tbl_User
TRUNCATE TABLE #tbl_User_Temp
INSERT INTO #tbl_User_Temp EXECUTE UserPersist_GetUserByCriteria @Gender = 'Male', @Culture = 'en-GB'
The SP UserPersist_GetByCriteria does a
"SELECT * FROM tbl_User WHERE gender = @Gender AND culture = @Culture",
so why am I receiving this error when both tables have the same
structure?
The error is being reported as coming from UserPersist_GetByCriteria on the "SELECT * FROM tbl_User" line.
Thanks,
Greg.

I am using SQL server 6.5 sp3 and NT 4.0 sp4.
My SMS database has been marked suspect.
I do not have a backup.
I have read several articles about trying to us sp_resetstatus.
I can not find this sp on my server.
When I try the following:
UPDATE master..sysdatabases status=256 WHERE name = ('sms')
I get the following back:
Ad-hoc updates to system catalog not enabled. System Adminstrator must recongifure system to allow this.
I have searched Microsoft KB and everywhere I can think of. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.
I even tried reapplying sp3 and rebooting...this did not help either.
Can someone please tell me how to change the status back to normal.....I think this is a it will take..
thanks in advance,
nathan

I have the original dat files ( 2 seperate log / data) of a database. I have created new devices (same size as originals) and a new database. I replace the new dat files with the originals and the database always comes up as a suspect. I have done this with the other 7 databases on my server and none have similar problems. This database was created different then others using new database and new devices routine rather than creating the devices first. Any Ideas?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi all,
We recently had some kind of error on one of the server's hard drives. The network guys, reinintialized (or something) and were able to bring everything back. However, two of my databases now is "Suspect" and can't be used. Both the MDF & LDF exist, and there are no indications of actual data loss. What can I do with a "suspect" database ? SQL 2K
What should I do to recover these two databases?
Thank you for all your suggestions.

One of my prodn databases went into suspect mode today..
I was able to recover it.
The tech support guyz had rebooted the server couple of times
(out of ignorance) cos they thought if wud fix it.
I lost the sql errpor log file which had the error details as to why db when into suspect....so my questions are..
1. Probable reasons why db when into suspect mode.
2. Any other way to find out about the error details.
3. When I ran dbcc checkdb with repair_rebuild option
for some tables it gave error
"Parent node for page (1:13075) was not encountered"
How can i resolve the consistency errors.
Is DBCC CHECKTABLE sufficient.???

We have an SQL Server 2000 DB server with several databases on it. Frequently, one of the DBs will have a state of "Suspect." This appears to occur after our 3rd party backup software runs a full backup on the weekends.
How can I begin to troubleshoot the cause of this issue? Has anyone seen anything like this?
thanks,

Hi all,
I have a suspect database caused by a disk error on a Raid5 disk. I'm a bit of a novice on SQL and am using SQL 2005. I have tried the following and can't get the database status to reset which means the DBCC checkdb command does not run. The client I am fixing this for has no backup of the data at all.
USE master
GO
sp_configure 'allow updates', 1
GO
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE
GO
EXEC sp_resetstatus 'nhd2007';
GO
sp_configure 'allow updates', 0
GO
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE
GO
DBCC checkdb ('nhd2007',NOINDEX);
GO
I get the following error back:-
Configuration option 'allow updates' changed from 0 to 1. Run the RECONFIGURE statement to install.
The suspect flag on the database "nhd2007" is already reset.
Configuration option 'allow updates' changed from 1 to 0. Run the RECONFIGURE statement to install.
Msg 926, Level 14, State 1, Line 3
Database 'nhd2007' cannot be opened. It has been marked SUSPECT by recovery. See the SQL Server errorlog for more information.
The error in the SQL Log which is causing all the problems is:-
Message
SQL Server detected a logical consistency-based I/O error: incorrect pageid (expected 1:3425329; actual 25600:1744858624). It occurred during a read of page (1:3425329) in database ID 24 at offset 0x00000688862000 in file 'E:hd2007hd2007.mdf'. Additional messages in the SQL Server error log or system event log may provide more detail. This is a severe error condition that threatens database integrity and must be corrected immediately. Complete a full database consistency check (DBCC CHECKDB). This error can be caused by many factors; for more information, see SQL Server Books Online.
Any advice on what I can do to get some access to the data would be great.
Thanks

I have a database in suspect mode. There is no backup of this database.
I've followed the troubleshooting and it isn't working out.
There are 3 steps:
1. execute sp_resetstatus
2. use alter database to add data file or log file to the database
3. stop and restart SQL Server
4. free disk space and rerun recovery
I've tried to make it, but the step # 2 haven't worked.
Then I tried step 3, however the database is still in suspect mode.
What should I do?
Is there something I am missing?
Thanks,
Fábio
