Ok..here is my problem. I have two SQL servers that I need to have
identical, at least semi-real time data on. One is in a public DMZ
with full access to and from the internet, and one is behind a
corporate firewall and the box can get out to the internet but cannot
be hit directly from the internet in. The two are on seperate
networks and cannot be connected via lan. Is there a way for me to
have semi-real time data transfers between the two to keep both
servers identical? I have thought that the server behind the firewall
could initiate an XML session with my dmz sql server and process
updates, but I am unfamiliar with how it would know what has changed
on the remote server and how the remote server would know what has
changed on the server behind the corporate firewall. Any good ideas?
I have two db instances on different SQL Servers. One is my test db and the other the prod. db. Each has two tables that hold lookUp values for the entire application. I would like to keep these tables in sync. in both dbs. The prod. db would be the master. I was trying to design a trigger to insert, update, or delete the appropriate records in the test db as they were added or deleted from the prod db. I'm getting too many prefixes errors on the script when trying to reference the table on the test db using four part naming convention. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue? Do I need to set up a linked server to accomplish this functionality? If so, how do I setup security for a linked server? Thanks in advance. Oscar
I have 2 server PROD n DR server all the PROD server DB is synched to DR server through log shipping. Now to chk whether the DR server is working or not in case of any disaster we shut down the PROD server now all the app request is handled by DR server,it is working fine. For 1 week we work in DR server now its time to move back to PROD server so that all the 1 week data in DR server should be replicate back to PROD server. Log shipping is deleted once the DR Server is up. What r the options other than Backup? It is SQL 2012
Last night we had a problem caused by a stored proc being deployed to only one server rather than two. I want a way to ensure that we can automatically run on a schedule a check to ensure that the 2 procs on 2 servers are the same.
I need a less robust solution that I implement tomorrow that doesn't involve buying third party tools and a more robust long term strategy that could if need make use of third party tools.
I have two databases data1(Express 2005) and data2( Enterprise 2005). Data1 is a subset of Data2. Now beginning from that state any changes to either database should be reflected on both of them. Now what's my best solution to accomplish this considering one is the subset of other??
I need to keep the data in my development server and production server in sync.....What is the best way to do this?Remember for example development data may have some addition columns in a table which may not exist in production.....Pls let me know how can i achieve this.
I cannot apply backups because i will loose the ongoing development ....
Hi,We are going to be running two SQL Server 2000's from the samephysical server, with Windows Server 2003, and I need to have certaintables between them syncronized. Database A is a backend to a website anddatabase B is going to be used by a different department. Both thedatabases have certain data in common but it isn't stored in the sameformat. I can't just auto sync one with the other, the data (records) hasto be manipulated before updates between them can take place.So, what I need to do is convert certain data when A is updated and tranferthat to B and vice-versa, in real-time. I've looked at Snapshot, thatisn't an option. I imagine some kind of Event Driven API is needed, wheredo i being?TIA
I'm working on an application that will be running on two or more machines. Each machine is logging data to a local SQL Compact database. I would like to make these two computers sync the data with eachother, but I am unsure what the best method is to transfer data between machines in a table format. I think XML would work well, but there may be something easier, so I thought I'd ask. Do I want to use sockets to do this, or is there another type of connection that would work better?
All PCs will know the IP addresses of their peers. I forsee each PC having a server thread that is listening all the time. Each PC also has a client that checks to see if it can connect to the server on the other side. It then requests certain data, which the server part sends. Does this sound right?
The rest of the app is in Visual Basic 2008 Express.
I have 3 SQL databases: A, B and C. A and B are branch databases while C is the central (HQ) database. A & B will be constantly updated while C will updated occasionally and usually will be used for reporting/data browsing. Even though A & B are from different branch, they do have share some data records.
Every day, I will have to sync A & B's new/updated data to C and C to A/B. I know I can use Replication but I can't. You see, A & B are located in our own branch server while C was hosted on a third-party server. The webserver provider for C would not allow me to do any Replication on C.
What other alternatives that I can use to synchronise all 3?
DTS? XML transfer? It looks as if I have no choice but to write my own sync scripts? :((
Anyone has encountered similar situations? Any recommended SQL Tool programs?
Please help. I'm at a loss of what Im going to do.
thanks 4 ur rpl..well i have a simple doubt if u can guide me it will b gr8 help..well i am developing an application of location based services, in which i am going to store my data on SQLserver 2005 and will fetch the data from it when the user logs in to the user's PDA device so that a user can work offline on the data when there is no connection and when he gets the connection he can synchronize the data with SQLserver 2005. so now i m confuse whether i should use the merge replication or ado.net synchronization framework or RDA?what is the difference between merge replication and synchronization and which is better?

hello everyone, i am developing a application using C#and .NEt compact framework. for that i need to sync pda data (in xml format) with the remote database server(SQL) and vice versa. please help me out thanks in advance.
I've stepped into a new environment and have never dealt with multiple data files on user databases only with Temp db.What would be the best way to get all my data files in sync. I have done this on databases that aren't that big in size or off in size by a lot. Here is what I have
I have SQL Server 2000 and 2005 running on the same server. My current system is in SQL Server 2000 and the new system is in SQL Server 2005. My users will be using SQL Server 2000 for the most part, But for the part the processes that have been migrated to 2005, they will be using SQL Server 2005 as well. The database schema is different on both servers eventhough the data will be similar in most respects.
Is there is a way through which any data that is inserted/updated in SQL Server 2000 via content Management System/ manually/ via a batch job, the data is automatically populated in SQL Server 2005 tables or vice versa?
I need some assistence here.I have two servers. One with MS SQL 2000 Standard edition and MSDE(MSdesktop engine).I need to sync my databases nightly, as a backup.Is there a cheap software that will do this? I don't want to justbackup the entire databases files b/c they are large and I'mtransfering them over DSL.I was thinking transaction logging, but I'm not sure. Is there a easyway to do this?I don't know how to accomplish this task.PLEASE HELP.
I have the merge replication (Push)Â for SQL Server 2008.The right-click option for Start and Stop Synchronizing in subscriptions has been disabled. How can I stop the merge replication and start again ?
This error happened 1 week after I created the merge replication. The merge data cannot sync to subscriber and only solution I can use is drop and re-create the merge replication again but error would be re-occur a week later. The merge replication work fine before and start from middle on May 2015, but it keep happen right now.
I have tried the Sync the data from sql server mobile (.SDF) to Sql server 2005 (.mdf).In push command, i am getting the error "Sql Server Everywhere encountered problems when opening the database". string rdaOleDbConnectString = @"Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;User ID=sa;Initial Catalog=master;Data Source=PRASSANAPRASANNA;Password=master"; qlCeRemoteDataAccess rda = null; try { rda = new SqlCeRemoteDataAccess(); rda.LocalConnectionString = "Data Source=D:/DATABASE/test.sdf"; rda.InternetUrl = http://localhost/Dataset/sqlcesa30.dll; rda.Push("company", rdaOleDbConnectString, RdaBatchOption.BatchingOn); MessageBox.Show("Completed");

finally
{
rda.Dispose();
}
please guide me any one ours guys to solve this problem .
I have set up a merge replication with 4 subscribers and a publisher on SS05 sp2 on 5 window servers. After running my application on the replication with big data for a while, the data in some of tables of subscriber are out of sync from the publisher. I tried to run sp_resyncmergesubscription to fix the problem according to http://doc.ddart.net/mssql/sql2000/html/replsql/replmon_9pwh.htm. The procedure run successfully. However, the problem is still exist.

Hello, I have a developer here who wants to be able to access two databases on different servers with the same query statement. Both servers have SQL Server 7.0 ??? Any suggesstions?
We have a database that I would like to replicate on another server but am unable to use regular replication via publish/subscribe due to the fact that the production database has no primary keys on tables, only clustered indexes. The backup db needs to be as close to real-time synchronized as possible and will be in fairly active use most of the time. Has anyone had success in developing such a system? How did you do it and what are the pitfalls? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. W.
I need to access data across my sql servers . All the servers are 6.5. Think MS DTC is the solution. But how to implement the same. Can somebody give me step by step instructions.
Not sure thisis the right forum for my question. I have to insert data from one table into another. The problem is that the 2 tables are on different servers and computers for that matter. I only need data that is in one specific table. What is the easiest and most efficient way to do that.
If I access the 2 computers via remote desktop from my computer and actually go and copy the data from the table in computer 1 and paste it inside the table in computer 2 it does paste the data.However, for some reason it doesn't paste all the data. The column datatype is ntext. I mean if the entry is for example 'hello world how are you today? blah bla blah' It will only paste 'hello world how are'
I will appreciate your help.
Many thanks

I've got a quick question here. I'm still quite new to SQL Server. My question is how to transfer file between SQL Servers. For example, i have been working on the database - updating or editing some tables in the SQL Server 2000 at my end. Then, i need to pass whichever tables got updated on to my client who also uses the SQL Server 2000. So we have two separate SQL Servers 2000. i wonder how to transfer data like tables between the two SQL Servers.
I need to feed head office sql server with the data from regional servers. Servers are spread through all continents Data input done locally on Head office server as well and plus need to ship data from other servers. So clarify this - Head office server is not standby one. Mirroring is out of the picture, I think.. Initially, I thought ship a log every 15 min and restore on Head office server but is this going to create an issue for the local data processing?
I need to append data from a database on one server to a table in a databaseon a different server. Both servers are running SQL 7. How can that be done?Thanks.
What is the easiest way to synchronize all data and database objects between my development machine and hosting server? Is there any SSIS free script I can use?
I have tow server on the same intranet. One server has a sql server 2000 database and the other one has SQL server 2005 databse. The sql 2000 database has a table called employee. When ever a new employee is inserted in the database i would like the same values to be sent to the sql 2005 database. But this cant be done on the application level. It has to be done in the database. The application level can not be changed. I was thinking a trigger but how to achieve the writing from one database to another. If they were on the same server then it would be easier but because they are on different servers i dont know how to do it. Has anyone had similar issue before? Any help is apreciated.
