Synchronization Of Business Contacts In Outlook With Small Business Accounting
Jun 10, 2006
Can anyone take me through synchronization of contacts within Business Contacts Outlook into Microsoft Small Business Accounts?
I run a stand alone PC with NO network. When SBA came SQL was also installed. Apparently you can synchronise Contacts within Business Contacts with SBA but both SBA & Outlook should work through the same SQL server.
Hello,I am not familiar with SQL at all any good sites on install I understandthat best practice is to use two aprtitions one foe logs and one for data.I have it as part of a SBS package.Many thanksNic
I've developed years ago a small business application (about ten tables,basic relationships, 10 forms, 3 reports a few queries) with Borland Paradox7, most of it developed with wizards and little ObjectPAL coding.Old'n'crappy.Seriuosly thinking rewriting it from scratch using MS SQL server 2000 as theDB platform.Low on time.My knowledge: BASIC: good, C & C++: fair, Pascal: almost nothing;Looking for a RAD tool:- client application will be running on P4 with XP/2000 & 128MB RAM - Mustbe FAST (light .exe)- easy learning curve- Hopefully with wizard: design tables for SQL Server 2000, createrelationships, build automatically forms & reports on existing tables.Thanks
Hello all, has anybody migrated the BCM database from a stand alone PC to Small Biz Server? We fail to import the data in a correct way. After importing the data into BCM on SBS the clients do not recognise the BCM database any more. Thank you!
We try to install Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2007 and get installation failed without any error. It simply refers to the log file. I have posted below the last 40 lines of this huge log file. The information in there are not vary help full since it refers to error codes that nobody seem to be able to explain. Now this is happening on 3 brand new dell computers running XP Pro. I would be happy for any assistance to either explain the error coded (if any MS guy is monitoring this) or maybe someone had a similar problem and could let me know some options on what I could try to get this resolved and my program installed.
We have SQL Express running very slowly on Small Business Server. Does anyone know if there is a conflict between the two? Or any ideas on how to solve our problem?
I have a merge replication topology that allows some subscribers (clients) to retreive a number for certain columns (ie invoice number, order number, etc).
I have implemented a custom business logic handler to check for inserts from the subscriber and before updating the server, I call a stored proc on the server to generate a new number. I update the data set and call ActionOnDataChange.AcceptCustomData. This works great for the publication db but I am trying to get this new number back into the subscription db. I am using web synchronization so I really don't have a connection back to the subscriber database.
Any Ideas? I was thinking about keeping track of the updates myself and build a sql string and somehow get that back to the subscriber to run updates for those columns... I am wondering if I am pushing the limits of the business logic handler? Was it designed to do this? Of course the easy answer is to modify my client application but I am trying to avoid that at this point.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I have an SBS 2003 server that is running SQL 2000 standard edition which was recently upgraded to Small Business Server 2003 R2.
I have installed SQL 2005 workgroup edition on the SBS 2003 R2 server which acts both as an AD server and Exchange server. I installed SQL 2005 for the purpose of using SQL 2005 for my sharepoint services on the Small Business Server R2.
Now I have SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 workgroup edition installed, but I'm unsure whether I can uninstall the SQL 2000 and how to know whether the sharepoint instance is running in SQL 2005 or SQL 2000?
Additionally, I have some MSDE's running for WSUS and Server Reporting which are installed by the Small Business Server installation.
Which tools should I use to become familiar with identifying the databases and which version of the database engine is used for which database regardless of whether it is a SQL instance or a MSDE instance.
How can I identify which SQL versions are not in use and whether I can uninstall if not needed.
Does anyone have a successful prescribed sequence for installing VS2005 and Business Intelligence Reports Projects on a Vista Business workstation to be used to create reports for a server?
I've looked through everything I can find here and I don't seem to see a clear solution without a lot of trial and error.
Fact is, I've not been successful getting just the reports to install on a plain XP box. Of course, the report creation looks fine on the server but I don't want to work directly on the server.
Thanks in advance. What is maximum SQL Server database (*.mdf) file size with SQL Server 2000 as part of Microsoft Small Business Server 2000? (Database files were limited to 10 GB in SBS 4.5 with SQLServer 7.0... has this changed?).
I'm trying to configure SQL server 2000 (standard edition) to send e-mail on a Small Business Server 2003. There's a great article on how to do this on a SBS 2000 server (KB304967), but it does not apply to SBS 2003. Can anyone point me to a article or white paper on how to configure SQL on a SBS 2003 server to send e-mail. Thanks.

I need to get the Backup System working again urgently. Any advice will be greatly appreciated
Anyone knows what the difference is between SQL Standard edition OLPand SQL Server in SBS 2003?I'm interested in purchasing SBS2003 because the price is much lowerthan if you buy OS2003 + SQL2003 separately.
Guys Does anyone know of a 3rd party module/plug-in for VS or even some downloadable code that enables the import of Outlook/ACT and similar contact information through an ASP.NET page into a SQL Server table with ongoing 1-click button sync.
I need to replicate something similar to the Intellisync tool used in Yahoo Mail.
I have to extract, dayly a list of contacts on a exchange server in a table on our EDW on sql server 2005. Is it possible to get the information directly from a dataflow or i will have to developpe a script task ?
I tried to synchronize the SQL 2000 database with the SQL mobile server on PDA with SQL server management studio from SQL 2005. I got the error as €œThe buffer pool is too small or there are too many open cursors. HRESULT 0x80004005 (25101) €?. The SQL database file size is 120MB.
I create the .sdf file on PDA with the following C# code:
string connString = "Data Source='Test.sdf'; max database size = 400; max buffer size = 10000;"; SqlCeEngine engine = new SqlCeEngine(connString); engine.CreateDatabase();
I think the 400MB max database size and 10000KB max buffer size are big enough to hold that SQL database data and I have already successfully synchronized my PDA with another smaller SQL server database file. I have been kept trying and searching this for couple of days and still can not figure it out.
Moreover, the synchronization always stops at the same table.
I had to do a re-install of SQL 2005 Standand Edition. I now do not have the BI, I do not know if it came with it or not. What would I need to install ifit did? I also wanted to ask: I know that MS Office Excel has the capabilites to sames as an XML file, but it is not very readable to import into the SQLdatabase. Is there a way to import the XML file into the database via one of the express editions? Thank youDee
Ok, probibly an easy question but I haven't been able to find what I am looking for.
If I have a simple class (see below), how would I make the People List avalible to build a report off of?
Thanks

Code Snippetpublic class Person { public string FirstName { get; set;} public string LastName { get; set;} }
// and put them into a list List <Person> People = new List<Person>(); People.Add(new Person () { FirstName = "Joe", LastName = "User"}); People.Add(new Person () { FirstName = "Jane", LastName = "Smith"});
I've created a store dimension. Within the store dimension is a CityID column that is related to a City dimension. Currently this city dimension has the following columns:
CityID (primary key --- foreign key for the StoreDim) CityName CountyName StateName CountryName ...
My SCD's source is being loaded from a query to a Zip table that contains ZipCodes along with cityID, CountyID, StateID, and CountryID that can be joined out to their respective tables to find the information needed to populate my SCD. However, cities can have several number of zipcodes and several cities in different states can have the same names. This causes a problem with eliminating duplicates for my dimension as well as finding a suitable business key.
For example, let's take a case: Washington city, District of Columbia (county), District of Columbia (state), USA (Country) Now, this city has SEVERAL zip codes so when I create my joins:
SELECT ... FROM Zip Z INNER JOIN City C ON C.CityID = Z.CityID INNER JOIN County Cty ON Cty.CountyID = Z.CountyID
So this returns several CityIDs for the same city... which when I try to use for my SCD causes problems because i have several business keys based off my CityIDs so my dimension loaded would look like
CityID CityDesc CountyDesc StateDesc CountryDesc 1 Washington District of Columbia District of Columbia USA 2 Washington District of Columbia District of Columbia USA 3 Washington District of Columbia District of Columbia USA 4 Washington District of Columbia District of Columbia USA
I want to have just ONE record in my dimension for this city.... How would I do this and what would I use for a business key? Also any recommendations on which of these attributes should be historical attributes? I would appreciate any input you guys have.
The Business Intelligence isn't showing up in the menu with ( Visual Basic, Visual C##, etc). A teckie installed the pro version and said she installed everything, can some one point me in the right direction. We purchase the media and installed from that.
Or maybe it can't find something it's looking for to make my additional symetrical with everything else. This is from one of my businesslogic files. What causes Visual Studio to not allow me to add something here and have it behave like the other parameters/ I'm talking about ShortDesc. Visual studio inserted () and the Get instead of GET like all the others. It would not allow me to capitalize the "get". There has to be a reason for this. Currently my program is adding all of the fields except the ShortDesc to the table in my database. Does anyone have any thoughts as to why this is the case?

I am trying to calculate business hours that an order that is open. The rules are 8am-5pm. For instance the first row, the clock would stop at 17:00, and pick up again at 8am and add on to total business hours. If the order was created after business hours, and the endstamp was before business hours, this would be 0. If created after 5pm friday, and the endstamp was before 8am monday, this would be 0. In the second set of timestamps I have here the order was recieved at 14:39 but took until the following day at 14:49 to be ordered. I imagine I have to use datepart and datediff for this, but other than that I am not sure on how to do it. Any help would really be appreciated!
I'm looking for a DATEDIFF function which will give me the BUSINESS days difference between 2 dates. e.g: datediff(day,'08/08/2007','08/14/2007) would normally result in 6 (i think), however in business days this would be 4. is there such a function? Thx
