System Crashes While Printing A Report - Blue Screen Error
May 8, 2007
When I try to print a report ( report viewer control from ASP.NET application). The print dialog box opens, once I select the printer and click ok. It show €œprinting 1 page€? for 3-4 seconds and the System(computer)crashes and displays a blue screen error. This is happening for only two of my reports. And currently we have disabled the print button for these.

Just trying to find out what this error code is, and how to solve this. I have the infamous "blue screen of death" but I cannot get XP to load or even to load in "safe mode". I am hoping to save my files on this laptop.
Here is the error:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the Stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacurer for driver updates. Try changing the video adapters.
Check with your harware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

I have tried to change my memory but that didn't seem to help. Any ideas?
Thanks for a reply,

I am hoping someone can guide me through this error. It appears SQL Server 2005 Management Studio might have a bug. What I am accomplishing deleting several rows from several tables inside SSMS. However, after about 4 or five deletions, I get the BLUE SCREEN of DEATH.
I can repeat this pattern.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

Hi,
I have a MS Reporting Services Report which I display in a ASPX page inside a iFrame (i.e. an other ASPX page displayed inside the main ASPX page).
The report is rendered to the screen using the normal ReportViewer control.
Everything works fine, except when I click on the Print Button on the ReportViewer control, I get a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and my computer restarts.
This is something that happens every single time I click on that Print button
Has this happenend to anyone else?
Regards,
Thysie

I'm pretty sure this problem started after applying Windows 2000 SP2 on machines running SQL 7 SP3. It may be that I only started manipulating these particular DTS jobs since that upgrade.
Problem: In EM I open a DTS package and it causes the server machine to crash to a blue screen. This has happened from a Windows 98 workstation running against a Windows 2000 Server SP2 running SQL7 SP3 and on a standalone laptop running Windows 2000 SP2 running SQL7 desktop edition SP3
Can anyone point me to more information on why this is happening?
Thanks
Doug

I have a field on a Group Footer which is a Sum field based of an IIF statement.
Here it is.
=Sum(IIF(Fields!EXPR1.Value=2 and Fields!Type.Value=1,Fields!Quantity.Value,0))
If I do not use the AND, by by only checking on one field it works fine and it returns a result, however if I use the AND Operator I get the #Error when previewing the report.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening. Any suggestion would help/
THanks

So I have been asked by our sustainability person to create report from our printing data that actually shows the number of pieces of paper used. This is easy enough for single-sided printing, but when printing in duplex the software does not take into account that 3 printing pages actually equates to 2 pieces of paper. I know this sounds simple, but say I have a print job record that looks like this:
Submitted printed total_pages duplex
8/10/2015 8/10/2015 42 1Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
This is a print jobs that if done correctly is actually 21 pages( duplex printing). If the job is say total_pages =5 I cant just divide by 2 because its actually using 3 pieces of paper ( yes they are wanting this data don't ask why). How can I adjust some sql to accurately depict 5 pages, front and back, as 3 pieces of paper?

I have deployed a report that is configured for landscape printing. It does print in landscape, however, only the first seven columns appear on the first page and the other five columns appear on the next page. Is there a method, like in print preview setup in MS Excel, where we can scale down the print (like to 80%) so all columns appear on each page?
Thanks!

I have developed a custom report item that works fine in design and preview mode while in Visual Studio. I cannot get it to show up on my deployed reports. Here's what I have done so far:
1. Deployed the report using Visual Studio
2. updated the rsreportserver.config file with the following entry:
<ReportItems>
<ReportItem Name="PedigreeChart" Type="Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.PedigreeChartRenderer, Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart" />
</ReportItems>
3. Updated the rssrvpolicy.config file with the following entry.
<CodeGroup
class="UnionCodeGroup"
version="1"
PermissionSetName="FullTrust"
Description="This code group grants Uabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.dll FUllTrust permission. ">
<IMembershipCondition
class="UrlMembershipCondition"
version="1"
Url="C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.3Reporting ServicesReportServerinUabr.Rap.PedigreeChart.dll" />
</CodeGroup>
I've also tried using the StrongNameMembershipCondition with no better results.
4. The dll and its dependencies are copied to the bin directory of the report server.
5. When I load a report with this custom report item on it, the report loads fine with no errors or warnings in the log file (even with verbose tracing). The area where the custom item should be is just white. It's almost like Reporting Services isn't registering the item correctly.
This is particularly frustrating because the report works fine in Visual Studio - apparently I configured that correctly. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm stumped.

The "View Report" button is relatively positioned so when the report content is wider than the screen size, it pushes it to the right such that the users have to scrool right to click on it again. Is there a way of setting the "View Report" button to a fixed position to eliminate this?

I have a report that runs fine, but as soon as I add a sub-report to it, it crashes.
It makes no sense, there are two lists (One inside another, to group the invoices) which I think may be causing this crash, but all it tells me is
"A error occured during local report processing. A internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details"
Where is this error log, I am running the report from vs2005, not off a report server.
Any help would be appriciated

Hi,
I am trying to use the report wizard and I get to the last screen where it asks for a name for the report file. The 'Next' button is not unprotected although the 'Finish' button is.
As far as I can tell I have setup the Matrix style report up correctly. If I use the 'Finish' button, Visual Studio just crashes.
The help does not give any clue and I have not found any answers in the forum.
Any ideas what the problem might be?

I am trying to access a report via url
http://69.23.3.112/reportserver?/rptProject/rptStatus&eStatus=All&eUser=2
it always asks for username and password.
All my users login to my project which is asp.net 1.1(vs2003) based project, now from inside the project, if they try to access any report from (which is on framework 2.0), they have to go through a autentication screen which is related to sql server reporting services.
can you please help, how to override this login screen.
Thank you very much for the information.

Hi,
It appears to work fine on my end however on my clients end, whenever they try to print a report that displays perfectly within the report viewer to their printer by selecting the printer button in the report it never ends up printing.., however if they go into printer setup and change the page range to print from all pages to just maybe one page and then select the print button it seems to print fine..
The printer seems to receive the information as the light flashes but no page kick out when all pages is selected to print..
Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Wasted a lot of time figuring out the possible cause of this. I was working in connected mode (with VSS), and when it tried to create a Report Model (after doing all its validations/checks), it had to check-out the project file, which is normal. But before doing so, it tries to check-out the .dsv file as well (data source view file from which report model is being generated). While attempting this, the visual studio crashes.
I could never guess that this could be an issue. All the time I was trying to figure out if there was anything wrong with the data in my tables.
So, for me, a simple solution worked - check-out the .dsv file before you start creating data model. I hope this may save time for others...

Has anybody ever had VS2005 sometimes crash when deploying reports? It only happens once and awhile, but it is annoying. I was hoping this would go away with service pack 1, but it didn't.
Another problem that I thought would be fixed is when you try to close VS2005 after working on reports and it states "Cannot close because an active modal is active" occasionally.

Hi All
I have a reporting viewer in a windows form that behaves very strange. When I open the form and run the report it shows up nicely in the report viewer. If I print the report it only prints one page. When i print the report a second time the whole report is printed. Next I'll change the report parameters and run the report, then it shows up nicely in the viewer, but when I print the report the first report is printed.
Does anyone know what to do with this problem?
Thanks in advance

Hi guys,
We've had Reporting Services running in a production environ. for 6 months fine, but from Saturday every report now causes the following error (in both the Report Manager and Soap calls):
An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help
Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: date
Now, before you jump to conclusions - this error is occurring on reports with both parameters and no parameters (ie in reports that have no "date" parameter in the report).
The next bit of info is the weird bit...
It was working on Friday (25/March/2006) - so as a test, i switched the servers clock back to Friday - and BINGO... it worked. Then I changed it to Saturday (26th March) and it doesnt work. In fact for the next 7 days - the service will not work until April 2nd 2006 - (when I changed the systems date to the 2nd it worked again.) Moving forward, it looks like its working fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions? This is in a production environment, so obviously changing the sytsem date as a quick fix workaround wont suffice.
Thanks in advance.

I am creating an SSIS Package to import some data. The package contains a big for each loop with 3 parallel running nested for each loops. The package crashes within the big loop without returning any error information. It starts up the sqldumper and genreates an dump - but does not report any error to the UI (Visual Studio or dtexec). While I am running only one for each loop and disable the others the package executes successfully. Has anyone an idea what might be wrong ? or is the only chance to submit a bug report ?
Thanks

Hi,
I am having problems printing a new table we added to an existing report. When I preview the report in Visual Studio everything looks good. But when I click the print layout view button the "header" portion of the report shows on one page and the detail shows up on another. Has anyone seen this happen before?
Thanks,
Jon Edwards

Hi,
I have developed report(SSRS 2005) using Matrix control and Chart, on web in works good, but when user prints the report
it cuts matrix and prints it on separate pages.
my requirement is to print every thing in a single page, no matter how much data i has.
i tried landscape print (by changing width 11 and height to 8.5) but no result,
does any one know the solution....?
thank you...

I am running SSRS 2005, rendering reports locally using a report viewer. Rather than direct the viewer to an .rdlc file, I use an XMLDocument. A few of my reports have a large image in the background that needs to be invisible when the report prints. This was straightforward - I just use a report parameter and set the visible state of the image to the value of the parameter. The hard part is getting the report to print without an error.
Initially, I render the report with the following code:
Private Sub ShowReport()
Try
With Me.ReportViewer1
.Reset()
.ProcessingMode = Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ProcessingMode.Local
.LocalReport.LoadReportDefinition(New System.IO.StringReader(_Doc.OuterXml))
.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(_Item1)
.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(_Item2)
.LocalReport.SetParameters(_Param)
.RefreshReport()
End With
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.ToString)
End Try
End Sub
This code works fine. I have hidden the print button on the report viewer, and to print, the user must press my button which runs the following code.
Private Sub PrintReport()
Try
_Param(0) = New Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportParameter("ImageVisible", "False")
ShowReport()
ReportViewer1.PrintDialog()
Catch ex As Exception
MsgBox(ex.ToString)
End Try
End Sub
Resetting the parameter and re-displaying the report works fine on its own. The PrintDialog method works fine on its own. When combined in the same Sub like this, I get the following error:
"Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object".
Does anyone know how I could get it to print without an error? I would be very grateful for any help.
