Hi, I got the error
A first chance exception of type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException' occurred in System.Data.dll

Exception Details: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Unrecognized database format 'C:inetpubwwwrootExcelData.xlsx'.
The file exists at that location . i tried this solution. I tried to change permissions but it was not saving it.
To resolve this problem, enable read/write permissions for the impersonated user account in the Temp folder. To do this, follow these steps:

I try to use sqlDataSource to gather the input for GrideView. The SELECT statement can run on SQL SEVER 2005, but can't get response when it is running on Visual Web Developer 2005 Express. The error message is : Server Error in '/WebSite1' Application.
I think it was due to "GROUP BY" . Could anyone please tell me how to fix it?? Thanks!!

Dear All,
I have a page on the web site that will upload a CVS fiile. Then, it will read the file, and insert the data to the sql database. (around 14,000 records)
I'm not sure why, it seems like whenever we do the upload/insertion for the first time, it will always return this timeout error.
System.Web.HttpUnhandledException: Exception of type System.Web.HttpUnhandledException was thrown. ---> System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Timeout expired
After I got this error, and do the upload again. Then the upload will work fine.
So I wonder is it when I got the timeout error, will the SQL server clean up its used resources or something, so my function will work the next time?
Or any recommendation on this issue?

I've tried everything I can think of to fix this. I know the database and table both exist and are referenced correctly, yet ASP.NET and SQL Query Analyzer tell me that the 'donations' object is invalid.You can see the full error at: {link removed}Just hit Continue without entering anything and you'll see the error.Thanks for you help.

I am on an XP Pro 32-bit laptop, running SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition. I want to import an Excel spreadsheet into one of my databases using (formerly known as) DTS. The Excel spreadsheet was created in 2003 (I have Office 2007 installed on this laptop). Whenever I try and do any OleDb import, I get the error:

I cannot install/reinstall MDAC because I have the latest version. What else can I try?
As additional information, I also get the error when trying to import anything into or export anything out of Access 2007. I'm pretty sure MDAC is awful, but I still need OleDb providers for much of the work I am doing.

Everything works fine when I run it from my computer. When I try to run it from a network share I get the following error,

I am using Visual Studio 2005 and .Net framwork v2.0.50727.

I have a report that uses some embedded custom code. The embedded custom code is a function that execute some sql query on a sql server database.Everything works fine in Visual studio. The report gets deployed on the server successfully, however when running the report from report manager i get the following error message :

When a user finally confirms his order in a shopping cart application (using MS-Access as the backend), the items he has purchased are populated in a Access DB table named Orders & his personal details (like name, mail, billing address, shipping address etc.) are populated in another table named CustDetails. Both the DB tables have a column named OrderID. This column is the Primary Key in the CustDetails table & the Foreign Key in the Orders table. The Session.SessionID becomes the unique OrderID.After confirming an order, if the user refreshes the page, the app will try to populate the same Session.SessionID in the CustDetails table but since the column OrderID is a Primary Key column in the table CustDetails, it won't accept duplicate OrderIDs. Under such circumstances, an OleDbException will be raised.Since a DB app can throw other OleDbExceptions other than the one about which I mentioned above, I want to display custom error messages to the user. For e.g. if he refreshes the page after confirming his order, I want to display a message saying "Your order has already been placed".To do this, I tried using the ErrorCode property of the OleDbException class but what I found is the ErrorCode changes from time to time! Had a particular ErrorCode been assigned to the error, I could have done something like this (assuming that the ErrorCode for the above error is -12345 which is constant):Try 'some codeCatch ex As OleDbException If (ex.ErrorCode = -12345) Then Response.Write("Your order has already been placed") ElseIf (ex.ErrorCode = <some other constant ErrorCode>) Then Response.Write("Another custom error message") End IfEnd TryBut I can't do the above since the ErrorCode changes from time to time.So how do I display custom error messages to users under such circumstances?Of course, I can use the Message property of the OleDbException class but that would be a rather tedious workaround.

Basically I am inserting a row into a table. The sql line looks like :
Insert into Customer VALUES ('1', 'Jane', 'Doe', '123 Nowhere', 'Kalamazoo', 'MI', '49024', 'a@a.com', '3335551234')
When I copy and paste the command into Access, it successfully adds the
row into the table. However, I am getting that error when I run
it in my program. I create the string, then this is the code I am
using :

tempInt = command.ExecuteNonQuery()
At the last line, I get the overflow.
Just for clarification, the values are (Cust ID as long, firstName as
text, lastName as text, Street as text, City as text, State as text,
Zip as long, email as text, phone as double).
Any insights into the problem? The error message isnt all that insightful.

Hello,
i want to import data from an excel sheet into a database. While reading from the excel sheet OleDb automatically guesses the Datatype of each column. My Problem is the first A Column which contains ~240 Lines. 210 Lines are Numbers, the latter 30 do contain strings. When i use this code:

when using Item(0), it just crashes for trying to convert a DBNull to a String, when using rdr(0).ToString() it just gives me no value.
So my question is how to tell OleDB that i want that column to be completly read as String/Varchar?

I am using VB.Net 2002 and create a Web Form, placing on it a Data Adapter, Connector and Dataset and link this to a Data Grid. The database is a quite large (150 Mb) Access 97 db that is shared over a network and the Provider is a Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 connection. While in designer mode I can create the Dataset and even preview the data itself from the menu. When I run the project, the Web Form displays, connects to the Site (via IIS 5.1) but then the following error text is thrown all over the form:

I have read and implemented the articles in the KB about setting up System TEMP variables and changing their rights and also setting up the ODBC key in the registry but these make no difference however I change them. I have also tried copying the database to the local machine, again to no avail.
The versions of the system I am using are:

I have no idea why what should be a very simple thing just fails so catastrophically. I am tempted to move to VB 2005 but if anyone can shed light on the problem I should be most grateful.

I get the following message in the vs2005 querybuilder when i do a preview:

Hi all,
I got an error when i do an OLE db Source pointing to an sql 2000 database and executing a sql query inside the OLE Source. The ole source will point to an OLE DB destination which is an sql 2005 database.
But i got the below error:
Error at Data Flow Task [OLE DB Destination [245]]: the column firstname cannot be processed because more than one code page (936 and 1252) are specified for it.

Currently, I have a WinCE application which uses the System.Data from NetCF and System.Data.SqlserverCE from MSSQL Server 2005 Mobile Edition. Now, I'm trying to use the System.Data.Sqlclient but I can't seem to find it in my System.Data. I notice that there are different version which is one from NetCF and one from the MS.Net framework itself.
Here's my question: Is it possible for me to use both System.Data? or should I only choose one. This is for my attempt to connect also from an SQLServer and connect to the local SQLServerCE as well.

A little background first. I have a header table and a detail table in my staging area/ods. I need to join them together to flatten them out for load. The Detail Table is pretty deep - approx 100 million rows.
If I use the setting (table or view) and set the table name (say, the detail table), the package starts up nicely. But if I switch the OLE DB Source to using a SQL Statement and then join the tables in the SQL, then the Pre-Execute phase of the package takes a VERY long time. I have waited as long as 30 minutes for this phase to complete, but it never finished.
Another twist...If I take the join select statement out of the OLEDB Source and put it in a view on the server, then swith the OLE DB Source to look at the view using the (table or view) mode, then the package gets through the Pre-Execute phase just fine.
Can someone go into detail as to what the Pre-Execute phase does and why a deep table might make it take a long time? I know already that the pre-execute phase caches the lookups, but not much else.
Any help?

Inside SSIS's Dataflow task, i'm getting data using ODBC connection(in DataReader Source) for an iSeries library and trying to insert that into DB2 database (using OLEDB destination ). Mappings etc work absolutely fine,but on execution get error as given below:
How do i resolve this error and load data in DB2 , Need help at the earliest.

i need to fetch data into multiple tables from a remote server (ss 2005)...so inside a sequence container , i have placed various data flow task...each task in turn gets data from oledb source to oledb destination.....there is minimal transformation involved...but the data is huge...and its taking unexpectably long...(im gettin only fresh data..identified by datetime fields of source tables..thats the only check.),
and way to make it faster...source db in not in my control...so i cant get indexes on it..:(

Slow OLEDB Source in Data Flow
Hi All,
I have a simple data flow task, composed of only an OLEDB Source, a Conditional Split, and two Execute SQL statements (both insert statements, one after the other). When I run my package in Visual Studio for debugging, I noticed that after executing around ~9800 in the first and another ~9800 records in the second insert statements, the OLEDB Source will take around 3 or 4 minutes to fetch another set of ~9800 records. I have set the DefaultBufferMaxRows property of the Data Flow to 10000. My query to retrieve those 700,000 records runs for about 2-3 mins to finish (which I think should be decent enough). Is this an expected behavior of SSIS? The expected number of records to be retrieved is 700,000, and it takes forever to finish the transfer of these records. Please help

I'm importing from a SQL table that has data fields typed as numeric(18,2) and the OLEDB data source component converts the data to integers (as viewed in the data viewer). I've preceeded the column names with (DT_NUMERIC,18,2) with no results. When the data gets saved to a table with the field typed as money, it appends .00. The truncation of pennies (decimal) results in the diminution of the daily results as much as $1,000. How do I pass the pennies through the OLEDB data source component? Is this truncation by default,or is there something I'm missing in the configuration? thanks.

Hello,
I am getting an error while trying to import data into SQL 2005 from an existing Access MDB database. When I try this on another workstation there are no problems and the data is imported successfully.
Could someone tell me what to look for or what setting I have incorrect. On the workstation with the problem I had removed SQL 2000 Personal Edition and installed SQL 2005 Standard Edition. Also, I have both Visual 2003 and 2005 installed on this workstation as well.

I got a problem with datatransfer via Microsoft.JET.OLEDB.4.0.
As long as I use the following statement it's working but only 255 Characters will be transferred to Excel.

Inside a data flow task, i have a oledb source and destination. In my situation, I need to pull data from a table in the source, but also hard code some columns myself, which means my source is a blend of data from table, hard coded data, which will then have to be mapped to columns in oledb destination. Does anyone which option to choose in the oledb source dropdown for the data access mode. Keep in mind, i do need to run a a select query, as well as get data from a table. Is it possible to use multiple oledb sources and connect to one destination, because that is really what intend to do here. I am not sure how it will work, or even if its possible. Basically my source access mode needs to be a blend of sql command and table columns, how would that be implemented? Any help or advice is appreciated.

i have built the connection b/w as400 and source to extract data from as400 to staging means in dataflow . when i have built the oledb connction for loading data to destination as oledb destination.then it will connct successfully to the db2 as destination but when execute the task then it not load data , and give provider error.
