I am getting the above error if i try to access sqlce3.0 database from an application which already uses sqlce2.0,
this error happens while initializing the sqlcecommand object
I hope the reason might be executing the the sqlcecommand through a sqlce2.0 engine on a sqlce3.0 database,
But I tried installing the sqlce3.0 in the PDA , still I am getting the same error
I have created a windows library control that accesses a local sql database
I tried the following strings for connecting
Dim connectionString As String = "Data Source=localhostSQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=TimeSheet;Trusted_Connection = true"
Dim connectionString As String = "Data Source=localhostSQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=TimeSheet;Integrated Security=SSPI"
I am not running the webpage in a virtual directory but in
C:Inetpubwwwrootusercontrol
and I have a simple index.html that tries to read from an sql db but throws
the error

I have a Data Flow task which uses an XML File Source with six parellell Outputs, each going firstly to a Data Conversion Task, then the results of each end in a SQL Server Destination Object. (All using the SQL Native Client)
To eplain this further, the Xml file contains 6 different types of elements, the Dataflow splits out each type of element and processes them into different tables. The Data Transformation object exists only because the XML fields are Uni-code and the table fields are VarChar not nVarChar.
Initially using this setup I found that the Connection would timeout using the SQL Native Client so I changed the Timout on the Destination Objects to 0. This fixed the problem to some degree, however at present I can run the Pakage using the Visual Studio enviroment and everything works fine, no problem. When I run the Dtsx file using the SQL Server Agent, I end up getting the error below...

I understand that this error is somewhat of a 'catch all' and that the way the Native SQL Server Connection object works makes Error Capturing difficult. I have tried a few things which I will list as I'm sure they will be suggested...
I have played around with the 'MaxInsertCommitSize' property of the SQL Server Destination Objects to no avail (IE, changing to 50000, 10000, 1000 all of which resulted in the same problem)
I am running the ssis pakage from the server which is the destination
As mentioned above the Timeout on the SQL Server Destination Objects is set to 0
What I have already mentioned and still don'tt quite understand is that I can run the job successfully from the Visual Studio enviroment but as a job run off the SQL Server it fails...

I am attempting to create a program that will run on the PocketPC 2003 environment. I have upgraded Visual Studio to SP1, I have installed SQL Server Compact Edition on my development machine and I have installed SQL Server Compact Edition Tools For Visual Studio on the development machine.
I have created a new project Visual Basic - Smart Device - Pocket PC 2003. I have created a form for user input. I build and deploy the form to the Symbol Pocket PC to test - no connection to data and it works.
I then add a reference to System.Data.SqlServerCE.dll and rebuild and redeploy the application to the handheld. When I attempt to open the form I receive the following error:
at System.Resources.ResourceReader.LoadObjectV2() at System.Resources.ResourceReader.LoadObject() at System.Resources.RuntimeResourceSet.GetObject() at System.Resources.ResourceManager.GetObject() at System.Resources.ResourceManager.GetObject() at pmsPocket.frmSetSOPType.InitializeComponent() at psmPocket.frmSetSOPType..ctor() at System.Reflection.RuntimeContructorInfo.InternalInvoke() at System.Reflection.RuntimeContructorInfo.InternalInvoke() at System.Reflection.ContrcutorInfo.Invoke() at System.Activator.CreateInstance() at MyForms.Create__Instance__() at MyForms.get_frmSetSOPType() at psmPocket.SetSOPType.Main()
Now the confusing part is that I haven't changed any of the forms or the code behind the forms, I have simply added the reference to the project.
Any idea why adding the reference to System.Data.SqlServerCE.dll would cause the system to start generating these errors?
I've checked, the install process has loaded the .NET 2 framework to the handheld. And as indicated at the beginning of this message, the application showed the form prior to my adding the reference.
The following (VB.Net) code causes exceptions at seemingly random times. Any suggestions? Not sure if the problem is in .Net's ODBC support or in Sql Native Client.
If MARS is off, usually after less than 100 loops:

Usually the ".Update" triggers the exception, but sometimes the other sql commands do it. Have tried various experiments with disposing of objects immediately when finished, but no effect. Opening and closing the connection each loop seems to delay the errors, but it still happens eventually.

I'm in the middle of developing some database independent code and I am surprised to find that the SqlCeException inherits from System.Exception not DbException. The argument I have seen is that DbException does not exist in the CE framework which I understand but this clearly breaks the model laid out by the other assemblies in the data namespace.
My issue is that I have a library which accepts an object implementing the IDBCommand. The execute command is wrapped in a try catch which is only interested in a DbException and allows all other exceptions through which therefore will allow and SqlCeException through.
I have three options available to me:
Catch all exceptions - This is not acceptable as other exceptions need to bubble up to the calling code.
Explicitly catch an SqlCeException - This too is not acceptable as it is a common library and not every application wants a reference to the SqlCe assembly
Explicitly catch an SqlCeException outside of the method call - As hideous as it is this is the only viable solution available to me meaning that any calling code using an SqlCeCommand must be aware of this "feature". If anyone else has a suggestion I am willing to listen otherwise I'm going to go back to banging my head against the wall.</rant>

Hi All I'm having a bit of trouble with an sql statement being inserted into a database - here is the statement: string sql1; sql1 = "INSERT into Customer (Title, FirstName, FamilyName, Number, Road, Town,"; sql1 += " Postcode, Phone, DateOfBirth, email, PaymentAcctNo)"; sql1 += " VALUES ("; sql1 += "'" + TxtTitle.Text + "'," ; sql1 += "'" + TxtForename.Text + "'," ; sql1 += "'" + TxtSurname.Text + "'," ; sql1 += "'" + TxtHouseNo.Text + "',"; sql1 += "'" + TxtRoad.Text + "',"; sql1 += "'" + TxtTown.Text + "',"; sql1 += "'" + TxtPostcode.Text + "',"; sql1 += "'" + TxtPhone.Text + "',"; sql1 += "'" + TxtDob.Text + "',"; sql1 += "'" + TxtEmail.Text + "',"; sql1 += "'" + TxtPayAcc.Text + "')"; Which generates a statement like:INSERT into Customer (Title, FirstName, FamilyName, Number, Road, Town, Postcode, Phone, DateOfBirth, email, PaymentAcctNo) VALUES ('Mr','Test','Test','129','Test Road','Plymouth','PL5 1LL','07855786111','14/04/1930','mr@test.com','123456') I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong with this statement. I've ensured all the fields within the database have no validation (this is done within my ASP code) that would stop this statement being inserted. Line 158: dbCommand.Connection = conn;Line 159: conn.Open();Line 160: dbCommand.ExecuteNonQuery();Is the line that brings up the error - I presume this could be either an error in the statement or maybe some settings on the Database stopping the values being added. Any ideas which of this might be ? I'm not looking for someone to solve this for me, just a push in the right direction! Thanks!
I get the following error when trying to import (have tried flat files, Excel & Access). I've searched but have not found a resolution. Any help is appreciated.

I am developing a Application using SQLCE Database & VS 2005 for Intermec CN3 PDA It is having Windows Mobile 5.0 OS and ARM920T PXA27x Processor.
I have already installed Microsoft .NET CF 2.0, Microsoft SQL Client 2.0 ( using %Program Files%Microsoft SQL Server Compact Editionv3.1SDKinwce500armv4isqlce30.wce5.armv4i.CAB file) in PDA
I could able to run the application in the development environment which is having Windows XP OS. Microsoft .NET Compact framework 2.0, SQL Server 2005 Compact edition
But when I deploy the application in the PDA thro' cab file and try to run the application I am getting the below error at run time.
Could not load type 'System.Data.Sqlserverce.sqlcecommand' from assembly System.Data.Sqlserverce, version=9.0.242.0,culture=neutral,PublickeyToken=8984...'
I have added the SQLCE.dll from the below location
%Program Files%Microsoft SQL Server Compact Editionv3.1System.Data.SqlServerCe.dll
I have built a small application in vs2005 (vb) using system.data.slqserverce building
in the mobile sql engine into my app. I intend to run this on desktop. The app
works fine on my development laptop machine, when i publish it (to a hard disk folder) and run it on another laptop, i get:
'unable to install or run the application. The application requires that assembly system.data.sqlserverce version 9.0.242.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first.'
This is my first app in .net so not sure what this means.
I thought all i had to do was reference the file (which i have done in the project) and
VS would take care of stuff like this? Framework 2.0 is installed on the target machine.
Hope im in the right forum for this! if not i apologise
after migration my project to CF 3.5 and SQlCe 3.5 I got the following error message:

End Sub
I migrated the Database with this program:
Public Sub Upgrade(DB) Dim sPath As String Dim engine As System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeEngine sPath = System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().CodeBase sPath = sPath.Substring(0, sPath.LastIndexOf("")) engine = New System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeEngine("Data Source=" & sPath & "Test.sdf") engine.Upgrade() MsgBox("Finished") End Sub

I have an app running Windows CE 5.0 and SqlServerCE 3.0. Occasionally, one of the production units will throw an exception with the following stack trace but no exception message:
Exception Msg:
Stack Trace: at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeCommand.ProcessResults() at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeCommand.CompileQueryPlan() at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeCommand.ExecuteCommand() at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeCommand.ExecuteReader() at System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeCommand.ExecuteReader() at XX.MobileApp.frmXXX.LoadData()
This is not something that I have been able to reproduce in our shop. I even take their database and run it here in our shop with out such errors. Does anyone know some possible causes for this error?
Sorry, I don't have more info to give becuase this is all I have to work with since I cannot reproduce in our shop. If the exception object exposes a property for the HResult, I would be able to provide that.

The same tables in a different on a different SQL box (test) replicate fine, but on this box (production) they do not. Any idea what would be the difference in the two environments?
I suspect that the "dbo." part in the "alter table" is what it is messing up on... how can I tell SQL CE not to include that schema prefix? Thanks

Found a similar problem in a different thread, but couldn't find any solution. I was wondering if there is an open case for this issue?
