Any help in understanding and working around this odd behavior is greatly appreciated!
I have the default SQL database logging enabled (to sysdtslog90).
I start my package with an ExecuteSQL task that writes most of the system variables to an execution log.
Included is the value of the System::ExecutionInstanceGUID variable (which I thought should match the standard SSIS logging executionid value).
I have an error handling ExecuteSQL task that updates my execution log with an end time and the task that failed.
This is right out of the ProjectREAL audit approach.
Problem with the Error ExecuteSQL update is that it is trying to match the SSIS log but cannot.
This is the SQL being used:

When I enable OnInformation event logging something interesting appears.
The ExecutionGUID changes during validation of my one Data Flow Task in the package YET the system variable does not get updated with the new value!!!!

It is possible for a task to be executed multiple times in parallel. e.g. If a package is executed more than once using "Execute Package Task". I understand that in the future the ForEach container will have the ability to execute all its iterations in parallel as well.
This is a problem. In the eventhandlers we know the SourceID of the container raising the event so we can tie together events raised by the same container but this simply isn't possible if the events are running in parallel. An example of where we would want to do this is drop a record into a table when a container fires OnPreExecute and then update that record with the container duration time upon OnPostExecute. This does NOT work when tasks run in parallel.
The solution to this is very simple. As well as capturing System:ourceID, capture a new value, System::ExecutionID as well.
In the meantime, can anyone think of another way around this?

Why are two log files generated when using a Text Log Provider with a Connection String property set to the following expression?
"c:\" + @[System::ExecutionInstanceGUID] + ".log"
I've set up package logging with a view to getting a unique, and linkable log. However, two files are always generated, no matter what the DelayValidation settings may be on the connection manager, file, and package tasks.
I've come up against a problem in my error handling.
I have a package-level OnError handler which is a SQL Execute task. The SQL execute task constructs a SqlStatementSource expression to insert the error details into a table. This works fine and I've tested it by introducing various errors in the package.
I have another SQL Execute task, which executes a SQL script from a file connection. This is a very long script (100s of lines) and works fine. I introduced a deliberate error into it and got the following errors:
Error: The variable System::ErrorDescription contains a string that exceeds the maximum allowed length of 4000 characters. Error: Reading the variable "System::ErrorDescription" failed with error code 0xC0047100. Error: The expression <expression> on property "SqlStatementSource" cannot be evaluated. Modify the expression to be valid.
The problem is obviously the length of the script, since SSIS attempts to copy all of it into the ErrorDescription, but this seems to occur before I can do anything about it. I've tried putting a SUBSTRING function around the ErrorDescription variable without success. If I introduce an error into a shorter script the error handling works fine.
Is this a bug in SSIS? Is there any sort of workround that anybody knows of?

Now the problem is when i login to my computer system with User-2. I cannot able to access the database with encountering error like "User-1/SQLExpress". I know that i cannot able to access to database which was created in User-1.

We run std 2008 r2. When I deploy and run a pkg from the catalog, how can I get that flat file system log we always instructed ssis to write to when we ran from the command line? I believe it was the /L param . Not sure at this point if i'll use sql agent or somehow employ task scheduler to kick off the pkg.
I'm logging the execution of my package into a SQL SERVER table. Everything works right. I'm also executing this package using a web service, I'd like to retrive the package's executionId after it is executed. By the way, i'm using a Microsft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Package object but i haven't found any property that could give this.
I am passing System::ExecutionInstanceGuid to a stored procudure using the Execute SQL task (OLEDB connection). When it is being passed as a GUID (through the parameter mapping screen), the wrong value gets passed to the procedure. If i change the Parameter Data Type to VARCHAR, it passes the correct value.

When I execute my package I have the following error: "Message: component "OLE_SRC_SData" (1282) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0010001."
I tried to map the parameter to another variable and it works properly, I don't see what's wrong using ExecutionInstanceGUID like this.
I am developing a package on my local workstation. I have defined two logging service providers. One is for SQL Server and the other is for the Windows Event Log. I am using the Dts.Log method in a script task to write log entries.
Logging is working properly with the SQL Server provider and rows are being inserted into the sysdtslog90 table. However, the only events that are being logged in the Windows Event Log are the package start and end events which I believe SSIS is doing automatically anyway.
Is there something I need to do to enable WIndows Event Log logging other than defining a log provider and making sure it is checked active? Won't SSIS write to two different logs with one Dts.Log call? Any ideas on what might be going wrong with my approach?
Hi, I decided to use the SQL Server log provider to store logging data of all my Integration Services packages. I also created some reports about this data for operating purposes. I have a problem occurs the name of the executing package is not always written to the log,but the name of the single task which failed. But that is not very useful information for operating, because I do not see any chance to get the name of the package by the information which is logged in the sysdtslog90 table in the database which I defined for SSIS Logging.
How do I configure the package to always log the package information into the table, too?
I recently read the project real ETL design best practices whitepaper. I too, want to do custom logging as I do today, and also use SSIS logging. The paper recommended using the variable system::PackageExecutionId to tie the 2 logging methods together.

I'm getting this error on a vb.net page the needs to execute two separate stored procedures. The first one, is the main insert, and returns the identity value for the ClientID. The second stored procedure inserts data, but needs to insert the ClientID returned in the first stored procedure. Hi, I have developed a custom server control for .NET Framework 2.0. The server control has a property named BinaryData of type byte[]. I marked this property to be data bindable. Now, I have varbinary(Max) type of field in my SQL Database and I have used SQLDataSource and bound this varbinary(Max) field with the property BinaryData (byte[]) of my control. It is working fine as long as the data value is not NULL. Now, In my control, I have handled the NULL value so that no Exception is thrown. Still, when I bind this property using the SQLDataSource, I get Error "Unable to cast object of type 'System.DBNull' to type 'System.Byte[]'." I am not sure if I can do anything to stop this erro within my control. If it is not possible from the control, then what is the workaround that I can do in my ASPX page in order to stop this error ? Every time someone changes something, it is logged in this table, so that, at any time, I can display who changed what. I have one more question. If I do do it this way, is there a way of getting the primary key value of any table? E.G. could I do something like this_table.primary_key.value ?
