I need to create a job that import an access database.
Does exist a command that I can use to do that?
I routinely need to import data into SQL DB from Access 2010.I've tried using both Openrowset and Opendatasource, and I'm receiving similar errors.
Here's my code I'm trying:
SELECT *
FROM OpenRowset('Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0','C:ITS DatabaseCHI_ITS_v2013a.accdb';'admin';'',Sheet2)
Here's the error message I'm receiving:
Msg 7308, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' cannot be used for distributed queries because the provider is configured to run in single-threaded apartment mode.
I am trying to simplify a query given to me by one of my collegues written using the query designer of Access. Looking at the query there seem to be some syntax differences, so to see if this was the case I thought I would import the database to my SQL Server Developer edition.
I tried to start the wizard from within SQL Server Management Studio Express as shown in one of the articles on MSDN which did not work, but the manual method also suggested did work.
Trouble is that it gets most of the way through the import until it spews forth the following error messages:
- Prepare for Execute (Error)

There does not seem to be any method of specifying a number of sessions, so I don't see how to get round the problem.
Does anyone know how I can get the import to work?

Hello, All:
I have many, many Access databases that are roughly 1.5GB-3GBs each and they have millions of records. Each MS Access Database file corresponds to one Database in SQL server. I'm trying to simply transform the data as it is in Access to MS SQL 2005.
I'm using the 64 bit version of Windows Server 2003 and the 64 bit version of SQL 2005. The server is running four dual core AMD Operton processors and has 8GB of RAM with a 1TB RAID 5 configuration. I think the hardware should be sufficient but the SQL Server Import and Export Wizard can't seem to handle the large number of tables/records. If I do one table at a time, it works well; however, it produces the following error message whenever I try to import the entire database:

How do I import all the information from an access database to sql server express?
I am moving my .net applications to use sql server instead of access and need a way to put the data in.
Hello,
I have a database MS access: test.mdb.
Is it possible to attach to SQL SERVER 2005 (or 2000 than to 2005), or any other solution ?
I need to transfer all the application:
structure and data.
How to do it?
We have a SQL database that uses Active Directory with Windows Authentication. Can users that are members of the Active Directory group that has read/write access to the SQL database create ODBC connections to access the database directly and update the data? They dont have individual logins on the server. They are only members of the Active Directory group that has a login?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I import data from MS Access databases, some fields appear as
"<Long Text>" in SQL. I cannot edit these fields in SQL. I have to export
the table to Access, update the field, and then import again.
There's got to be an easier way. What am I missing here?
The field in Access is of type 'memo'.
Can anyone help me import a ms access (97) table into a sql 2005 express database? The sql database already contains other tables but I would like to add some of my older access tables to this database without having to re-enter all the data. Please help! Thanks!

According to my technical support for web hosting, for database format they only use "MS SQL" operating on a windows system, usualy clients create they're sites on their local machines using "MS SQL".
I'm just wondering.....
Is 'MS SQL' free? where can I get it?
I also have the option of creating the site round an access databse but I'm worried about the security issues,
do you think it would be wise to use access?
Is it easy to convert a site written in ASP.NET&ACCESS into a site using ASP.NET&"ms sql"?
because then I could code a site in the former on my machine and then change the code to link to an sql server.

I need to create new MS Access databases on the fly from an ssis package, then add tables to these databases.

Hi guys,
I want to create a report from Access Database. Can anybody tell me how to connect and create a data source from Access data source. A step by step guide is preferable. I am more concerned on the connection string.
Thanks.

Scenario:
I have installed SQL Express 2005 and I want to create a new DB using sqlcmd.
I am running a command like: sqlcmd -i file.ini (I am logged like Administrator of PC)
the content of the file.ini is:
-- Get the SQL Server data path
DECLARE @data_path nvarchar(256);
SET @data_path = 'c:Program FilesMyTestdatabase'
-- execute the CREATE DATABASE statement
EXECUTE ('CREATE DATABASE DataCollection ON
( NAME = DC_dat,
FILENAME = '''+ @data_path + 'DC.mdf'',
SIZE = 10,
MAXSIZE = 50,
FILEGROWTH = 5 )
LOG ON
( NAME = DC_log,
FILENAME = '''+ @data_path + 'DClog.ldf'',
SIZE = 5MB,
MAXSIZE = 25MB,
FILEGROWTH = 5MB )'
) ;
GO
I obtain this error:
Msg 1802, Level 16, State 4, Server TESTQ5SQLEXPRESS, Line 1
CREATE DATABASE failed. Some file names listed could not be created. Check related errors.
Msg 5123, Level 16, State 1, Server TESTQ5SQLEXPRESS, Line 1

If I change the security of directory database (I add "modify" permission to Users windows group) the error disappear.
I am logged like Administrator... why is it necessary to change directory permission?
I need to create a SQL server database and add some tables to it. Then access it with a C# application. The problem is that the new SQL server database and it's tables must reside on an external hard drive. How do I point SQL server to this external drive, so that I can create a database on this drive and then create tables and access data on it?
Access Connection
create a new Connection Manager by right-clicking in the Connection Managers section of the design area of the screen. Select New OLE DB Connection to bring up the Configure OLE DB Connection Manager dialog box. Click New to open the Connection Manager. In the Provider drop-down list, choose the Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider and click OK.
Browse to the Access database file and connection set up---all good!!!
Dataflow task
Add an OLE DB Source component
Double-click the icon to open the OLE DB Source Editor. Set the OLE DB Connection Manager property to the Connection Manager that I created . Select Table from the Data Access Mode drop-down list.
I cannot see the tables set up as set up as pass-through table types to a Oracle 9i db
Any ideas please help
thanks in advance

I want to import the data from specific Access Database and Table to SQL Server, using SQL Script. I am trying to implement the solution as given in this link. URL....Here is the code that I have tried -
sp_configure 'show advanced options', 1;
GO
RECONFIGURE;
GO
sp_configure 'Ad Hoc Distributed Queries', 1;
GO
[code]...
The access database file path is - 'C:SQL ProjectTestDB1001.mdb'.The Table from which I want to import the data is - [Table1001]. but when I run this script, I get this error -9 The OLE DB provider "Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0" for linked server "MSAccessConnect" reported an error. Authentication failed.
Secondly I need to make 2 more changes to the code posted above.
1.If some access database .mdb, has got password protection, then how to include the password in the script, so that one does not have to manually feed in the password during data import work.
2. How to limit the data that is to be imported from the table [Table1001] by including a WHERE Clause, like for example - SELECT * FROM [Table1001] WHERE xdate = '2015-9-16 00:00:00.000')
I've already created a table and i wanna to insert values in that more than five hundred row ,that values are stored in Excel files, Here I've the doubt is it possible to insert values from excel sheet? I've current data base of ms sql 2000, if it is possible means, how to insert values using query?
ex:
create table test
(
item_code int,
item_name varchar(50),
bill_qty float,
bil_date datetime
)
In that excel file also had the same column name name.
I have a table which has been import from a TXT file. Most lines can be ignored, but when I get a line like this
'qwwwwwww 399 0 75124M - 2015-02-06 13:07:29'
I need to insert into a table as 6 columns ('-' is a value)
I am using SQL express and Visual web developer on windows Vista.
When I try to create a new database the following message appears.
CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database master (error 262)
I log on to my computer as an administrator.
Help appreciated

I need to import data to a MSSql table from massive (read: a million and a half rows, every single day) logs that come in .txt format separated in tabs with a ";" symbol and then have some stored procedures analyze that data to generate some reports in an excel file with that info. The text files include the column headers in the first row and the data starts on the second one.
The challenge is that the text files differ in column order and count every single day.
The analysis that I need to do only needs about 15 columns from the nearly 90-120 that those files include, and those columns sadly happen to be in a different order in those files.
I'm trying to find a way to import data from this data xml feed to get daily exchange rate. I' tried:
select *
from
openrowset(bulk 'http://www.bankofcanada.ca/stats/assets/xml/fx-noon.xml',single_blob) as x
Which is a feeble attempt at a start; however, am getting this error message:
Cannot bulk load because the file "http://www.bankofcanada.ca/stats/assets/xml/fx-noon.xml" could not be opened. Operating system error code 123(The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.).
How to parse this file using SQL.
I would like to create an index with a few options but having issues trying to parse and run it successfully. The issue is near the end of the statement. Here's the create statement below:

FROM sysindexes si
INNER JOIN sysobjects so
ON so.id = si.id

I am having SP which gives, two result sets. The columns which are coming from result sets are also dynamic.
i.e. some time 5 columns and some time 10 columns.
Now I want to load this output into 2 different tables on daily basis. This would be truncate/delete table and load again.
Now my problem is that as I am not sure about columns, Is it possible to create table(Physical Table) depends on output of SP, and after load data into it.
During each load we can drop table, No issue and we can handle this through SSIS Package.
