T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Compare Data In A Single Table By Month Period?

May 28, 2014

i would like to see the 2014-06 matched results (3rd query), if the same ssn and acctno is exist in 2012-06 and 2013-06 and 2014-06 then eliminate from results, otherwise show it

select ssn, acctno From jnj.drgSamples where Channel ='KM' and TrailMonth ='2012-06'
select ssn, acctno From jnj.drgSamples where Channel ='KM' and TrailMonth ='2013-06'
select ssn, acctno From jnj.drgSamples where Channel ='KM' and TrailMonth ='2014-06'

i have written the below query but it shows only matched across three queries, but i want to display / delete from 2014-06 records if the ssn and acctno is exist in 2012-06 and 2013-06

select c.* from (
(select * From jnj.drgSamples where Channel ='KM' and TrailMonth ='2012-06' ) a join
(select * From jnj.drgSamples where Channel ='KM' and TrailMonth ='2013-06' ) b on a.SSN = b.SSN and a.acctno = b.acctno join
(select * From jnj.drgSamples where Channel ='KM' and TrailMonth ='2014-06' ) C on a.SSN = c.SSN and a.acctno = c.acctno join

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Grouping Of Data Based On Moving Time Period

Mar 13, 2014

To give you some context we have a new amendments application (nothing fancy, excel based with SQL Server back end) that allows users to submit amendments to product data (Product Info, PO Prices, Dates etc.). There is also an admin tool that a team uses to action these amendments in the various systems.

The old version of this tool, users submitted amendments by style and could if need be submit multiple amendments against one product at the same time. The new tool, I believe for audit reasons, users submit by amendment type, so for example I would submit a cost price change for a given style.

The issue now is that on the occasions where a user has multiple amendments, they now come through separately. So cost price would be Amendment 1 and a date change would be amendment 2 even though they could be the same product. This could potentially mean that the admin team would be duplicating work if the paperwork is updated and sent after each amendment, whereas before they would make both changes and only send the paperwork once.

Having not built either of these tools, I've been tasked with trying to fix this, my two thoughts being either to amend the user form to somehow capture/ allow users to submit amendments together or try to use the existing data and doing the grouping dynamically in the back end. Use that lag to look at grouping any submitted amendments that occur within 30mins of the first occurrence of that style

This grouping would then be given a joint time so when the 'time lag' period passes the amendments will be visible together.I've tried a few things and a few head on desk moments trying to get a set based approach but haven't been able to get where i want, its either an issue where amendments span an hour, such as 9:59 and then 10:03 or grouping together amendments that happen after the 30mins of the first one.

Here is some sample data

USE FF_Winning_Together;
IF OBJECT_ID(N'tempdb..#AmendTest',N'U') IS NOT NULL
DROP TABLE #AmendTest;
CREATE TABLE #AmendTest
(
AmendmentIDINT IDENTITY(1,1)NOT NULL,
StyleCHAR(1)NOT NULL,
AmendmentStatusVARCHAR(10)NOT NULL,
DTDATETIMENOT NULL

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Compare Rows In The Same Table?

Aug 7, 2014

We have a table setup to track changes that are made to another table, for auditing purposes. How do we compare the most recent record in the change table with the previous record in the change table? Particularly, we have a column named DUE_DATE in the change table and want to identify when the most recent change has a different DUE_DATE than the previous change made.

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Compare Next Row With Previous Row Of Same Table?

Sep 16, 2014

I need to compare the next row with the previous row of same table and produce nonidentical column.for eg... say my table has

Row 1 => 1001 Abhas 120 150 180
Row 2 => 1001 Abhas 150 150 180

then my output would be as below:

StudId Name fee1 fee2 fee3
1001 120
1001 Abhas 150 150 150

i.e in first row of resultset, i want to show only those values which are changed alongwith studID and next row should display all values.

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Compare Data Between 2 Rows?

I have the following recordset:

cmdBatchNbPdsLbsZONE

817159652 9.09590031
817159679 2.5891806

817159784 4.1547006
817159792 3.56576013

I need to extract the corresponding price from the following table:

Zone MaxWeight Price
---------------------- ---------------------------------------
31 1.70 7.14
31 2.20 8.76
31 3.30 9.47
31 4.40 9.69
31 5.50 10.61
31 6.60 11.05
31 7.70 11.49
31 8.80 11.93
31 9.90 12.37
31 11.00 12.81
31 12.10 13.23

In this case, the 2 first rows should give a price of

1) 7.14 (weight between 0 - 1.70)

2) 11.93 (weight between 8.80 - 9.90)

How can I do that with a query?

I have two tables I am trying to compare as I have created a new procedure to replace an old one and want to check if the new procedure produces similar results.

The problem is that when I run my compare I get false matches. Example:

CREATE TABLE #ABC (Acct VARCHAR(10), Que INT);
INSERT INTO #ABC VALUES
('2310947',110),
('2310947',245);

[Code] ....

Which gives me two records when I really do not want any as the tables are identical.

Compare The Same Period Of Different Years

May 21, 2008

Hello to everybody, I'm quite new to the Analysis Services world and would like to create a BI Solution for one of my customers with the following problem: I have sales data from the ERP from different years (2005 and on). My customer wants a report that shows the sales of the current year up to the month he wants to specify (e.g. january - march 2008) compared with the sales of the same period of the previous year (e.g. january - march 2007), divided into product category.

Is there a way to build a cube and then a matrix report in Reporting Services that lets the user specify the period for the current year and shows the same period of the previous year. Do I achieve this behaviour with a calculated member in the cube (e.g. ParallelPeriod)

Any hint (or web like example) would be very appreciated.

Best regards

Power Pivot :: Create Measure Within Date Dimension Table To Sum Single Entry Per Month Eliminating Duplicates

Jul 27, 2015

We are trying to do some utilization calculations that need to factor in a given number of holiday hours per month.

I have a date dimension table (dimdate).  Has a row for every day of every year (2006-2015)

I have a work entry fact table (timedetail).  Has a row for every work entry.  Each row has a worked date, and this column has a relationship to dimdate.

Our holidays fluctuate, and we offer floating holidays that our staff get to pick.  So we cannot hard code which individual dates in dimdate as holidays.  So what we have done is added a column to our dimdate table called HolidayHoursPerMonth.

This column will list the number of holiday hours available in the given month that the individual date happens to fall within, thus there are a lot of duplicates.  Below is a brief example of dimdate.  In the example below, there are 0 holiday hours for the month of June, and their are 8 holiday hours for the month of July.

DateKey MonthNumber HolidayHoursPerMonth
6/29/2015 6 0
6/30/2015 6 0
7/1/2015 7 8
7/2/2015 7 8

I have a pivot table create based of the fact table.  I then have various date slicers from the dimension table (i.e. year, month).  If I simply drag this column into the pivot table and summarize by MAX it works when you are sliced on a single month, but breaks if anything but a single month is sliced on.

I am trying to create a measure that calculates the amount of holiday hours based on the what's sliced, but only using a single value for each month.  For example July should just be 8, not  8 x #of days in the month.

Listed below is how many hours per month.  So if you were to slice on an entire year, the measure should equal 64.  If you sliced on Jan, Feb and March, the measure should equal 12.  If you were to slice nothing, thus including all 15 years in our dimdate table, the measure should equal 640 (10 years x 64 hours per year).

MonthNumberOfYear HolidayHoursPerMonth
1 8
2 4
3 0
4 0
5 8
6 0
7 8
8 0
9 8
10 4
11 16
12 8

I hope that makes sense of where i'm going with this. I've played with this using the "Guru's Guide" solution by Ken Henderson, but still to no avail yet. Here's his code syntax:

Select * From ZT_DailyRpt_Detail Where isNumeric(TenDayDate) = 1 And TenDayDate < Convert(varchar(10),DateAdd(Month,-CAST                              ((SELECT         keepmonth                                  FROM             zt_databackup a, zt_biller b                                  WHERE         a.companycode = b.companycode AND                                                             zt_DailyRpt_Detail.biller_code = b.billercode) AS int),GetDate()),112)

the sub query ã€?SELECT         keepmonth                                  FROM             zt_databackup a, zt_biller b                                  WHERE         a.companycode = b.companycode AND                                                             zt_DailyRpt_Detail.biller_code = b.billercode) AS int】will return a value 6 or 12
for the reason, every month have differnet days, ( some have 31 days , some are 30 days ) I don't want to check the day of date , only to compare month
if sub query return "6" and I do DTS on 2007/07/29 , will select  date which TenDayDate< 2007/01 not  TenDayDate<2007/01/29 ( don't want to check the day of date)

does my query correct? if not can you correct it for me? thank you very much

How To Compare 2007-9-11 And Month(GetDate()) ?

Oct 30, 2007

I am going to compare thie value 2007-9-11 (this value was retrived from the column(TxnDate) in my DataBase, type is DateTime)
I write code
select * from ZT_ModifyLog where Year(TXnDate) =  Year(GetDate()) AND (  ( Month(TXnDate) < Month(GetDate()) )  and Month(TXnDate) >= Month(GetDate())-1)
it will like
select * from ZT_ModifyLog where Year(2007-9-11 ) =  Year(GetDate()) AND (  ( Month(2007-9-11 ) < Month(GetDate()) )  and Month(2007-9-11 ) >= Month(GetDate())-1)
→  select * from ZT_ModifyLog where TxnDate(2007) = 2007 AND 10 < GetDate(10)  and 9 >= 9   so return TXnDate between 2007/9/1~ 2007/9/30
 but what if Month(GetDate())-13)?? when the -1 biger than 12... I guess the code will cause error ... but can't think out how to avoid and change my code

pleae help... thank you very much

I have a SmallDateTime data type field. The SmallDataTime contains day/month/year hour:minuteeconds AM/PM. What I wanted to do is create a store procedure that will only take the month of the field and compare that to my variable. So for example, I wanted to something like the following:

@month varchar(50) = "3"

SELECT * FROM myTable WHERE monthField = @month

Any help is much appreciated.

Generate Single Record That Shows Status Of Accounting Period For Multiple Groups?

Mar 26, 2015

I'm trying to generate a single record that shows the status of an accounting period for multiple groups. For a single accounting period they could all be the same, or all be different (open, closed, hold, etc)

What I want to do is select the accounting period with a group by that says if all the groups are in the same status, then that's the status. But if there are different status' for the period, I just want to have a single line that says 'Mixed' The query below returns 3 records, but I only want 2. I tried a CASE WHEN Having COUNT > 1 but it blew up with an aggregate subquery in a group by error.

DECLARE @AccountingPeriod Table
(AccountingPeriod varchar(10), Status char(1), GroupNum int)
Insert into @AccountingPeriod
Values('2015-03','O',1),
('2015-03','O',2),
('2015-03','O',3),
('2015-02','O',1),
('2015-02','O',2),
('2015-02','C',3)
Select AccountingPeriod, Status from @AccountingPeriod
GROUP BY AccountingPeriod, Status

Compare Data And Add To Table

Mar 4, 2004

Hi all,

Newbie here. I was wondering if any of you gurus could answer a question for me. Here is what I need to do (and I stress need):

I have 2 tables.

Table A has 3 columns, column 1 is unique customer numbers, column 2 is ticket numbers, column 3 is empty records.

Table B has 2 columns, column 1 is unique customer numbers (same numbers, although not the same order as Table A) , column 2 is invoice numbers.

I need to compare Table A where records in column 1 match records in column 1 in Table B. Where the records do match, I need to copy the records from Table B, column 2 to Table A column 3.

Can anyone here help me with this, please? It would really get me out of a jam with this, since it is the last step I have to take to finally get this new app rolled out.

Thanks a lot.

Mark
