I am creating a report that uses a list that has page breaks. The breaks are grouped by a certain field. When exporting the report to excel, the page breaks translate to individual tab sheets. The question is can I name the tab sheets according to the field grouping applied to the list. Example the field grouping is department name. Therefore the tabs should be:
Sheet1 = Finance
Sheet2 = Human Resource
Sheet3 = Project Management

Is there a way to have multiple group and / or details and have Excel show the drill downs?

I have created a report in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. After I export it to Excel format, if I try to print it (Hardcopy), my Excel crashes. It shows an error and shut down. I'm using Excel 2000. It even shows me same error when I click on "Print Preview", in Excel.
Everytime I try to print the excel worksheet, a window pops up with the heading "Visual Studio Just-in-Time Debugger". The error is: "An unhandled win32 exception occurred in EXCEL.EXE [3460]".
We are using the SSRS 2005 for developing reports. In that I have some problems/doubts.
My problems are: I developed / designed the report using the SSRS 2005. And I uploaded the reports in to the report server. I can able to view the reports in the preview section as well thro the browser.
Problem 1: Reports are having the huge amount of data (For: report is having > 800 Pages). So, when ever I am trying to export in to EXCEL that time I am getting MemoryOutOfException. If I having the less number of pages that time I getting the result. How I can export the report into excel with out MemoryOutOfException.
Problem 2: Some Excel sheets are having more data for ex: 75000. In EXCEL it self we are having the limitation we can not create more than 65536 rows per sheet. So If I want to export these 75000 records into excel how I do it.
Problem 3: For delivering the reports I am using file share subscription method in SSRS. For example my reports are having the huge amount of data. That time I getting the following status in report server €œFailure writing file Weekly Install Base Report @timestamp: An error occurred during rendering of the report.€?"
Software Platform: 1. SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 2. SQL Server 2000 Data base 3. Microsoft Office 2003
My company is trying to convert existing reports to Reporting Services 2005... we need to have reports that export to excel with multiple sheets have the group name as the tab label. I can't find anywhere how this can be done. Can someone please tell me when this will be available? We have the latest service pack and still can't get this done... Our large customers are used to getting their reports this way, and the document map with sheet1,sheet2..etc.. will not be a suitable option. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.... seems I am not the only one waiting on this one...
I have encountered an error when attempt to open a report which is exported to Excel using SSRS2003. It looks like this:
Microsoft Office Excel File Repair Log
Errors were detected in file 'C:Documents and SettingsTocsonEIMy DocumentsRigidReports ptRigidTransactionSummaryReport3.xls' The following is a list of repairs:
Damage to the file was so extensive that repairs were not possible. Excel attempted to recover your formulas and values, but some data may have been lost or corrupted.
At first I thought it was because of the sheer bulk of the report since when I break down a month's report to every 5 days, it would export without error. So I thought that if I can break a whole report into several worksheets using page break, it might work. Unfortunately, although I did succeed in exporting the whole report into several worksheets, I still encounter the same error. Now I have no idea on what the root of the error is. Note that the same report can be exported in other formats and can be opened without error. Except for a case when I tried opening the same report exported in XML using Excel, an error which might be related to the error above occurs which says that there's an invalid unicode character in the xml file.
Any help in determining the root of the problem and a solution to it?
I am creating an application where I need to export the reportviewer data into formatted excel sheet.
Ex excel sheet should have formatting-
1-Column width set to 8.3 2-Wrap text turned OFF 3-Left Justify all fields 4-Landscape default for orientation.
If I apply these formatting into the .rdl files then it is going to be applicable for all other formats like csv,xml etc but I don't want to apply these fomatting except the excel report.
I think if I can trap any event when export button is clicked when excel is selected from dropdown menu then it is going to solve the problem a little bit.
I am trying to get my ssrs report in an excel. I want the report to be displayed in a single excel sheet, however, I am getting multiple sheets. I have even tried the page break functionality and used the

Exporting a report to Excel has a lot of issues with appearance. As a result, I created an Excel template that I would like to use when the user selects to export the report to Excel, using the reportViewer toolbar. I haven't found any documentation thus far on how to accomplish this. Does anyone know whether this is possible with SSRS and if so can you please provide information as to how it is accomplished. I have created a similar post where my application code can be reviewed: http://forums.asp.net/t/1183977.aspx

I want to run SSRS report directly by connecting Excel as a data source. The report runs properly from SSDT, but when it is run from Report manager, some users cannot access the Excel connection and the report execution fails. I am using SSRS 2012 and Excel 2010.I have created the ODBC data connection in SSRS and when I use 'Windows Integrated Security' option for credentials, the connection gets successful. But the problem is that all users does not have permissions to access the Excel inline, but they should get the report working.How can I store the credentials to access the Excel in SSRS with a specific username and password?

We are facing one problem while exporting the SSRS (SQL Server 2005 SP2 installed on win2K3) Report to Excel format, problem is when we export report having more than 50K rows to Excel format SSRS fails to export because it€™s a limitation of Excel that a Sheet can€™t contain more than 50K rows. This issue is resolved in Office 2007 but SSRS its own libraries to export, is there any way we can make SSRS to use office 2007 libraries to export? Has anybody faced the similar issues? would appreciate if you can give solution for this problem or forward any link which discusses the same.
I love SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), but it doesnt let me name the tabs when exporting to Excel. The feature is well documented as not being available.
So I figured I can use the cell(1,1) on each tab to contain the tab name, and have an SSIS job poll a file share, open the file, read the cell, rename tabs, rename the file, and then email out the file. Polling the directory and emailing is a piece of cake, but I can't find any way to rename a tab without having Excel loaded on the SERVER. Not to mention instantiating an entire instance of Excel on the SERVER every time I want to do this.
I want to leverage SSRS, and preserve the formatting of the excel file, which is why I don't just dump the data in with SSIS to begin with.
I need to have a report that will have formulas in excel. I understand that the limited support for exporting excel formulas has been dropped in SSRS 2008. Is there any way to work around this and still output formulas?obvioulsy the way to do it in previous versions of SSRS are not working (using report items). I tried to add my formulas in my dataset (I can know which excel cells I need in the formulas) but they end up being displayed as text. I then have to get in the excel file and enter and exit each cell so that it "becomes" a formula.
I am currently exporting scheduled report in excel format via SSRS subscription and the report is getting deposited in 97-2003 (.xls)format. I am using SQL Server 2008 R2 version
Now i need to export the report in .XLSX format. What i need todo to upgrade the exporting excel version (i.e .XLS to .XLSX format ) as .XLXS version is only available from Excel 2007 and later version.
I have developed a report in ssrs 2005. While exporting the report to excel 2007, i have a problem in displaying the footer values in spreadsheet. Moreover, in the page footer of the report, i have added a few condtions so as to display one of the textbox's values in the last page alone and the rest in all of the pages! But when i look in to the page layout in excel, i get in all of the pages rather than having it in the last page.
Added to that a cell doesnt hold more than 255 characters in excel.
I am having difficulty in exporting a report to Excel that has drill-down grouping created in SSRS 2008 R2. I can export with the report expanded or with just the summary and both look fine, but when it gets to Excel it looses the toggle ability which I need for it to retain.
