Hi guys,
I have a matrix report with one row group and one dynamic column group. My issue is that I want to see the column group to be appeared only on the first page of the report not on every next page, because I am going to finally export the report to Excel spreedsheet so I don't want the column to be repeated in the middle of the records.
Let me know if anybody has some idea.
Thanks!

I have a report looking something like this:
Field 1 Field 3 Field 5
RandomInfo1 RandomInfo1 RandomInfo1
RandomInfo2 RandomInfo2 RandomInfo2
Field 2 Field 4 Field 6
RandomInfo1 RandomInfo1 RandomInfo1
RandomInfo2 RandomInfo2 RandomInfo2
It extends along a fair number of pages, and I'm currently using the "# of columns = 3" in the Report properties --> Layout section in order to make it span over 3 columns instead of the usual 1. I'm using a table in which the random info fields are the repeating values, and the Field 1,2,3,4,etc are included in the list control, but not part of the physical table itself.
My question stems from a couple of chunks of data which basically extend over the course of 1.5 pages (yep. There's enough to fill about 4.5 columns worth.)
I currently have
Field 1 RandomInfo50 RandomInfo100
RandomInfo1 RandomInfo51 RandomInfo101
Randominfo2 RandomInfo52 RandomInfo102
etc.... etc.... etc....
-----NewPage----
RandomInfo150 Field 2
Randominfo151 NewRandomInfo1
RandomInfo152 NewRandomInfo2
etc...
What I'm looking to do is have "Field 1" appear at the top of each column whenever a larger chunk of data forces itself into multiple columns, or even multiple columns on multiple pages. I have this nasty feeling it's something silly and blatantly obvious I'm missing...
Any thoughts?
Hi, this is probably a simple question but I just can't figure it out. I'm using SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 sp1.
I'm trying to design a report that displays a particular embedded image on the first page, and then a different one on every subsequent page. I.e full, fancy company logo on the first page, and a trimmed down version on every other. In Crystal, I would have simply used the Report Header and Page Header sections to achieve this - easy.
However, in SQL Reporting Services, there is only a Page Header section - therefore whatever I place in the Page Header shows on every page. Now, I know how to stop it displaying on the first page, but I don't know how to display the other image instead.
I read in a support forum that it is possible to do this by "placing report items above or below your data regions" but I can't get it to work.
Grateful for any assistance.
Matt
I used ReportItems!textbox4.Value for displaying a data field in the header and footer.
But it is not getting repeated in the subsequent pages...
It is getting displayed only in the first page...
Kindly provide me with a solution to get it repeated in all the pages asap!!!........

I am having a problem with headers printing on separate pages. I have a report in RS 2000 that consists of 4 tables. Each table has several tables embedded within the table. The report has a header and each main table has two headers. The report layout is 11in. x 8.5in. with margins of 0.05in. The view space of the report is 10.2125in. Doing the math, I am withing the bounds of the paper; however, when I export to PDF, the report header and a legend table prints on the first page, the first table header prints on the second page, the second table header prints on the third page, the first data row prints on the fourth page and the rest of the table prints on the next page or several pages as needed. This repeats for the subsequent tables because I have the table property set to Insert page break after this table. I also have Repeat header rows on each page checked. I am at a loss as to why this continues to happen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a large report which profiles a customer and produces many pages consisting of sales records, support calls and emails, etc etc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt is using a table to display a very large amount of data (a basic list of information) with groups. Each of the groups can span multiple pages, so the user may not realize where the grouping actually began (I am repeating the group headers). Therefore, I would like to modify the group header when it is repeated across multiple pages by simply adding the text, "(cont.)" to the header so the reader can easily see that the group started on a prior page. There does not appear to be any standard test function for this condition. Using Previous() for this case does not work. This cannot be a new issue and must have been solved; any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this has been asked before, I did search the forum but could not find an answer to this question...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am staring to lose my mind on all this "work-around" BS in trying to create a dynamic header.
I have a report with contains a table, whose first two lines are a header line in which I want to repeat on each page. Then I have about 20 detail rows of information related to the header. The 21st detail row is a merged cell that contains a subreport relating to the header item.
When printing to PDF, the detail rows consume about half the page and the subreport is anywere from half a page to several pages long. When the subreport is more than half a page, it skips the end of the first page and starts on the top of the next page, leaving the bottom half of the first page blank. No matter what I set the page breaking to, it continues this behavior. In addition, when the subreport data spans more than one page, my parent table's header row will not print to the next page even it the RepeatOnNewPage is set to true.
I am coding this way because I have found no good way of creating a dynamic header that will correctly and consistantly display data that has detail that spans more than one page.
Any thoughts on what I might be doing incorrect?
There are 2 tables
tPeople
ID Name
1 Arun
2 B
3 C
tAddress
PeopleID Address
1 Test Address A
1 Test Address B
1 Test Address C
2 Address A
3 Address1
3 Address2
Expected Result
ID Name Address1 Address2 Address3
1 Arun TestAdressA Test Address B Test Address C
2 B Address A
3 C Address1 Address2
Address columns repeated = max(count(Address)) for PeopleID
Help me on this!
I can do it through dynamic sql using Execute sp_executesql
Is there any workaround except this?
I am using table object to present report.
table row1 has all the column names and table row2 has the data.
How can i put a horizontal line between column names and the data rows.
Thank you very much.
All I can find is Page Headers. Is there a report header like there is in Access?

View 3 Replies View RelatedHello all,
I am creating a report in SSRS and the data is obtained through a stored procedure. One of the parameters is Begin_Date. This is simply a date field. I need to have it on the Page Header section. However, when I placed it there and ran the report, I received the following error -
Error2[rsFieldInPageSectionExpression] The Value expression for the textbox ‘begindate’ refers to a field. Fields cannot be used in page headers or footers.
Is there a way around? I have never faced such a problem when I created reports in Crystal or ActiveReports. Please let me know whether I am missing anything.
Thanks in advance,

Is it possible to say for example have the first page that contains a chart in portrait layout and the rest of the report that is a table in landscape layout?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI in a table or partition, the first page is an IAM-Page if I'm not wrong, this page keeps track of the extents.
In the first extent to where the "first_iam_page" points to, the extent is a mixed extent, therefore the pages can be from different tables or partitions, correct? How does my IAM-Page map the right pages to the corresponding table? the following extents are all uniform of one table type, so I guess it doesnt matter then. But n, how does it keep track of which pages belong to which tables in the first extent?
My second question is, the first IAM-Page is obviously an IAM-Page, but there are also GAM , SGAM and PFS Page files... where are they stored? Because when I create a table and insert a big value(8000) into it, it reserves 16KB for that table, one for the IAM-page, and one for the first data-page. But where can I find the GAM,SGAM and PFS page files? or are they not page files, just some other structures?
I am creating a report in SSRS which has the following criteria:
- Row 1 (parent) is 'Product'
- Row 2 (child) is  'Feed'
- Columns are date. Â I have 5 dates showing at any one time across the top. Â The date field is set up as a parameter so depending on the date the user selects, the report will show that date on the end column and then the 4 days prior to that in the other columns. Â Â
 - Data is the number of records.
I have a sub total on the Product and the report is collapsed on Product as default.
What i'm stuck on is trying to insert a column at the very end that will show the variance between the last two dates. Â So the difference between the date the user selected (@date parameter) and the day before that.Â
I'm using the following query to look in a log file and show somestatistics. It counts the total number of views and the total numberof unique users who have viewed a particular item (the "id" and"title" fields are associated with the item).SELECT title, COUNT(id) AS NumberViews, COUNT(DISTINCT UID) ASNumberUniqueUsers, Type, idFROM ActivityLogWHERE dtTime >= 'Nov 1 2004 12:00AM' AND DtTime <= 'Nov 1 200512:00AM'GROUP BY Title, Type, hdnIdORDER BY TopViewed descThis works fine on SQL Server 2000 (our development machine), but onSQL Server 7 (our production machine), the title column has the samevalue for every row. The other columns show the correct values. If I remove the "ORDER BY" clause, then it works fine. If I removethe "COUNT(DISTINCT UID)" column, it works fine. If I totally removethe WHERE clause, it works fine.Any ideas? It seems like a bug since it works fine on sql2k. I'vetried adding OPTION (MAXDOP 1) to the end of the query, but thatdidn't help. We're using SQL Server 7.0 sp1, and my boss doesn't want to riskupgrading to sp4 because it might screw up all of our otherapplications. I looked through all of the sp2 through sp4 bug fixes, and I didn't see anything specifically mentioning this.Thanks.

Friends,
I am using SSRS (Sql server reporting services) for one of my report related to EIS-MIS.
i want group wise page numbering and also display the no. of pages for that particular group.
e.g suppose group 1 has 5 pages then it should display
page no. 1 /5, 2/5,3/5,4/5, 5/5. now suppose group change then it shold display 1/4 like this
I have already implemented groupwise page numbering using then custom code and i have call that function from the header portion of the report.
now the question is how can i display the total no. of pages in particular group?
For that i have add one count column in query itself but as we know we can't use field value in header and footer portion and also we can't use global variables in data portion.
So kindly guide me
Thanks,

Hello,
I wonder how and if this can be achieved:
In a tabular report I have one or more columns that need to be repeated on every new physical page when printed.
Viewing the report in the ReportViewer control allows such columns to be fixed using the "FixedHeader" switch, allowing the user to conveniently scroll the reports content while always having the fixed columns in sight. This is perfect. However, when switching to the Print Layout view or when printing the report, I would like to have these fixed columns be printed on every new page that is generated at the beginning of the table printed.
E.g. I have a report that has a huge number of columns that need to be shown. When printed, the columns need at least 6 pages' width. I would be very convenient if I could repeat e.g. the first column (containing some identificational information) on every of these 6 pages. It wouldn't hurt if e.g. 7 pages would be generated because of the repeated column(s).
Any help is appreciated, thanks a lot!
Frank

I have set my SQL server express server and have installed SSRS (reporting services) and Business Intelligence Studio.
When i create a new report and delpoy that report, it successfully deploys it.
when I go to the below URL's from the laptop browser, I am successfully able to see my reports
http://lemd342608/Reports$SQLExpress/Pages/Folder.aspx - Report manager
http://localhost/reportServer$SQLExpress - report server
Now when I go to a external machine besides my laptop, and type in the 'URL's I am getting 'Page cannont be displayed error'.
DO I need to configure anything in order to allow other users to access my SSRS. I have added the users in the Reporting manager also.

hello,
Just curious if we can supress column headers in SQL Server..
example:
create table Empmaster
(
empid int identity(1,1),
empname varchar(10),
empsalary numeric
)
insert Empmaster(empname,empsalary)values('Imran',5000)
insert Empmaster(empname,empsalary)values('Raja',5000)
insert Empmaster(empname,empsalary)values('Ram',8000)
Sql:
Select empname, empsalary from Empmaster
would have a result set like (this is not an exact result from analyser)
empname empsalary
----------- ------------
Imran 5000
Raja 5000
Ram 8000
But I was wondering if I could somehow make it display
Imran 5000
Raja 5000
Ram 8000
I actually implementation of this is something vast, but I have illustrated a very simple example to explain what I want to achieve. Might seem a very simple 1 line solution, but I haven't been able to find it. .If ther is any documentation that might help please reply and point me to that..
thank you

I am developing a matrix report in SRS. In columns group there are several values. When report runs they apper in any order based on the first record in row group. I want colums to apeear in specific order all the time. For example the column sequence in one out put is Follwup 1, Initial , Followup 2. I want to column header to be in order of Initial, Folloup 1, Followup 2.
Can someone help?
Hi:
I am fairly new to SQL Server 2005 and before now, I have only had to restore databases, and connect to tables via ODBC connection in a reference (read only) setup. Today, I have a very small project to set up using the server.
I have a userlogon.csv file that the network stores on a file server in a hidden share logon$. It has 4 columns, UserID, Computer, Date, Time.
I was able to create a database called UserLogon and import the file as it was today. I want to create a scheduled update so the server would go to this file perhaps 4 times a day (or more) and grab any new logins that have appended itself to this CSV file.
So, as a newbie with a 1,900 page SQL Server 2005 unleashed manual at my side, could someone outline what the steps are in general I should follow to set this up?
I have the process laid out in my mind, but I don't know how to translate in into a scheduled task of the SQL Server :
1. Create DB and import the table (done)
2. create a stored procedure that connects to the CSV file and evaluates date and time stamps then appends any new records into the SQL db table. (appending records would be achieved by using the INSERT and WHERE statements?)
3. Schedule a job to perform this task on a routine basis.
It appears that the file connection portion of this set up is defined outside the evaluation and append record procedure? (not in the same stored procedure). Perhaps I tie the whole process together using the Job Manager, selecting the file settings, and then the stored procedure to be performed on the file.?
I hope I have been descriptive enough to ask if someone could outline the modules/features/processes involved so I can read up on them and figure them out using the book.
Thank you in advance.
David
I need to write a sql statement to retrieve column headers and rows from 2 different tables.
E.g.:
row1: EMP column list, tag: emp
row2: DEPT column list, tag: Dept
row3: EMP columns data
row4: DEPT columns data
And the data sorted by deptno column
E.g.:
EMP, Deptno, empno, ename, age, ...,
DEPT, Deptno, ename, loc
EMP, 10, 7548, Justin, 43,....
DEPT, 10, marketing, california
EMP, 20, 7345, Carol,26,....
DEPT, 20, finance, New York
EMP, ....
DEPT,...
.....
......
I have one table having three columns. This table contains lot of repeated records. I want to delete this records .
In this below example i want to delete all the records which columns id and no columns contains same values.
id no sequence
------------------------------------
35 35432 1
35 35432 2
35 35432 3
36 35432 1
35 45623 1
First three records the columns id and no contains same value. I want to delete this three records.
But in last record for id =35 and no column =45623.it is not repeated so it should not be deleted.
What I need to know is how to get repeated data from a existing table, to normalized tables with out typing it...
Example:
---------------------
| ID |TEXT | TAGS |
---------------------
| 1 |text1|repeating|
| 2 |text2|repeating|
----------------------
How to normalization would be use 3 tables ,one for tags_id and tags, and another relating the tags_id to ID from the table above...but how does the code already know there is a tag called repeating?
My matrix column labels do not appear at all at the lowest level column grouping when viewing in IE7
All is ok when viewing the pdf, or when viewing using the preview tab.
Is this an ie7 bug?
