Table Restore

Apr 7, 2000

Is is possible to do a single table restore in SQL 7? I have a user that needs to do this and I recall reading somewhere that this was no longer possible in 7.0

Thanks,

Brad

Apr 3, 2001

Hi all,
In SQL 6.5 I was able to do individual table restores. I need to do that now in SQL 7.0 sp2 but can't find anything in Enterprise Manager that will allow me to do that. Did they remove that feature?

TIA!!

Restore A Single Table

Mar 18, 2002

Does anyone know of a way to restore a single table using SQL 7.0? I know that I can build a dummy database and do a database restore, then copy the table from database to database. But....was wondering if there is a way to restore a single table from a backup. Is losing the ability to restore a single table one of the 'features' of 7.0?

Single Table Restore

Dec 15, 1998

Hi!

This morning, I needed to restore 1 table to a database because it had
accidentally been deleted (don't ask). Each time I tried to restore the
single table, I would select TOOLS| DATABASE BACKUP/RESTORE| RESTORE
tab from Enterprise Manager, then I select SINGLE TABLE, but am only
given the existing table names as choices to restore. This happens when
I select to restore 'FROM DEVICE' as well.

Am I doing something wrong or is this how MS SQL6.5 is supposed to
work? Am I only able to restore a corrupt table and not a missing
table? I ended up restoring the entire database...

Thanks for your help!

Restore Messed Up Table Names

Sep 2, 2006

Using SQL Server 2000 and moving to a new computer. We did a full backup ofthe existing database to tape, brought up the new computer with a cleaninstall using the same server name and IP address, and did a full restore. Not only were some permissions messed up, but Crystal Reports 10 and someAccess Data Projects refused to run. I finally discovered while running anSP_WHO that the individual database names that we'd created (meaning not'master' and the other standard tables) had several dozen blanks appendedonto the end of them. Looking at dbnames in the SP_WHO made it clear thatthis had happened, and once I knew what I was looking for it was apparent inEnterprise Manager as well when I'd select a database name in the left pane.Interestingly, VB6 applications have no trouble connecting to these tableswithout modification of the connection string. Every single CR10 report sofar has had to have it's tables relinked, and this has broken some othercode that looks at dbnames.1: How could something like this happen?2: How is it best fixed? Thanks!David

This table has 1 clustered index based on its own unique record ID and that of its parent table record

I have an import process that adds appx 980 rows of data to this table and numerous rows to several other tables as part of a transaction and it ran in about 15 seconds.

However we suffered a server failure and it had to be rebuilt (Svr2k3), SQL 2000 re-installed (with default options) and the data base restored.

The same transaction is now taking 8 to 9 minutes.
I tracked it down to this particular table. Just doing a count(*) takes over 5 minutes. Select * where ID = 1 takes over 5 mins. Also, whenever the table is accessed you can hear the server thrashing the disks. Other tables, although smaller do not seem to be suffering from this masive performance drop..
I've tried droping and recreating the index. I have even created a copy of the table, with index, and still get the same issue with speed.
DBCC CHECKTABLE returns the following but takes 6 and a half minutes
DBCC results for 'TB_SAAI014_BPD'.
There are 3168460 rows in 72011 pages for object 'TB_SAAI014_BPD'.
DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.

No errors are shown

A DBCC CHECKTABLE on another table with 230 thousand rows, run at the same time only took 10 seconds

Can anyone please point me in the direction of things to check, try or repair.

Any help greatfully recieved.

Restore Specific Row Set Accidentally Deleted From A Table

Feb 2, 2004

Hi!

Is there any way I can resore a specified set of deleted rows from a table? Most of these rows were created during the course of the day, but at the end a user deleted them accidentally. My latest full backup is from last night, but if I restore it, it will overwrite many other tables that already have correct informaiton entered during the day. Is there any to roll back only the transaction with which the rows were deleted?

Transact SQL :: Backup / Restore Tools Which Can Restore Multiple Environments

Jun 25, 2015

I am looking for a SQL Backup/Restore tools which can restore multiple environments.  Here is high level requirements.

1.  We have 4 DBs, range from 1 TB - 1.5 TB Each Database.  When we restore to QA, DEV, or Staging, we usually restore 4 of them.
2.  I am looking for the speed to complete restoring between 1 - 2 hours for 4 DBs.

I am evaluating the Dephix Software but the setup is very complex and its given us a lot of issues with Windows Authentions, and failure in the middle of the backup.  I used Guess Software many years ago but can't find it on the web site any more. Speed is very important for us mean complete restoring as fast as possible.  We are on SQL 2012 and SQL 2008 R2.We are currently using NETAPP Technology and I have Redgate Backup Tool but I am mainly looking for fast Restore Process.
