I’ve got a simple SQLdataSource which is wired up to a gridView. When the page loads, it’s sometimes likely the data source would contain no data – how can I test for that in the code behind (no data)? I’d like to only show a button if there is data?
I’m using ASP.NET 2.0 with C#

Can someone advise me as to the best way to loop through a collection of columns for each row in a table testing the value of each column for nulls etc and then entering the column name into another column where the condition is true..

I inserted all the data from the [Order Details] table, now I'm trying to reinsert the data but changing the PK constraint to prevent error. Seems like this should work.

Can anyone give any advice to finding db files for testing. CSV files or what have you. I want to have some nice fun and repetitive Transact practice in creating db's and users etc. I have seen some online but I wondered first if anyone here used a site in particular that they could recommend. Would be nice to have files that may be standard (csv) and in another db format that I could use, mix it up some.

I am looking for a number of concept hierarchies (i.e. hierarchy with is-a relationships) describing the same domain that are accompanied with the instances from which the concept hierarchy was obtained. I have been trying to find some data suitable for representing the extracted knowledge in form of concept hierarchies so that can obtain at least two concept hierarchies from the same domain that differ slightly. In this sense the data needs to have multiple class (target) values and there has to be a hierarchical relationship between the classes. I have looked at the datasets publically available from 'uci' website and some others, but so far it appears that only the Zoo dataset is suitable to be represented in a form of concept hierarchy but it is still closer to a decision tree. I have seen some bird-domain or more specifc animal kingdom hierarchies but I cannot find those more specific datasets. Does anyone know where some concept hierarchies with instances can be obtained or datasets with multiple hierarchically related class values? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just recently added 30MB of SQL Server database space on my Share hosting account.
I want to put the SQL Web Data Administrator on the server but it is an MSI file and I cannot figure out how to install it.
Also, I will be testing my .Net pages on my local machine. How do I go about it without accessing the SQL Server on my host? I used MS Access before and I have a copy of both databases on my local machine and on the server. I'm thinking of using MSDE on my machine and I just change the connection string when I upload my code. Is this a good idea or is there a better alternative?

I have an SQL database with a number of fields, one of which is for storing the date (datetime).When I insert data into the table, I only supply the date because I don't want or need the time to be listed. However, when I execute a query, the data that shows up in my gridview is (e.g) 13/10/2007 12:00:00 AM.
What I want ti know is, how can I format the datetime when I run the query so that it only shows 13/10/2007?This is how I'm retrieving the data at the moment:

I'm using the asp.net login controls and am storing the user data in the sql table that get's automaticaly built by visual studio. I display records based on who is logged in. Currently i use a Session parameter in my datasource for the user name and store the username in a session variable on the page load event, Session["UserName"]= User.Identity.Name.
Is there a way i can use a Profile parameter in my data source and skip setting session variable all together? I tried putting Name and UserName and User.Identity.Name in the Profile property but nothing seems to work. Thanks for any help.
We are running Reporting Services 2008 R2 on a Windows Server 2008 Standard 64-Bit server. I have a user that has full access to Reporting Services at all folder levels but IS NOT a local administrator on the 2008 server.
This user can create data source connections but when he tries to test the connection by clicking on the 'Test Connection' button, he gets the following error "The permissions granted to user <username> are insufficient for performing this operation.A user that has administrator priveleges on the server can test the connection fine.
I don't want to make this user an administrator on the server.

1. As per my current development SQL Sever Analysis Database consists of two Cube (Cube A and Cube B). Cube A and Cube B share the same data source view (DSV1). The source for both these cubes has the same data source (DS1).
2. As per the requirement I need to create third Cube i.e. Cube C. Is it possible to create a second Data Source View (DSV2). The Source of second Data Source View (DSV2) will be the same data source(DS1).
I am thinking to create second Data Source View (DSV2) for Cube C because existing layout of the DSV1 has become complex. I wanted to know the pros and cons of creating a multiple data source view with same data source
Hello,Can I import an OLTP (Reltional DB) as a Data Source into SQL ServerAnalysis Services 2005 and then use the Cube Wizard and the new DataSource View feature to create the OLAP model ?Or do I have to first design an OLAP Data Warehouse with a Star Schemaand then import this DW as a Data Source into my Analysis ServicesProject.With SQL Server 2000 , OLAP would be the way to go..but with SQLServer 2005 , it seems as though the wizard and data source viewfeatures do half the work for you.I have an OLTP DB and am not sure which route I should take ! View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a datasource view DSV1. It points to a datasource DS1 that is considered the "primary".
I have created a Report Model that uses DSV1 (and thus uses DS1)
I created a new datasource, DS2 that I would like to use instead of DS1. (I can't just modify DS1 because if I modify it, it will overwrite it when we go to our Production environment and break that datasource)
So, I can go into DSV1 and change all the references from DS1 to DS2.
But that's where the problem lies.
When I try to build, I get the following error:
"The Table property of the Entity "E1" refers to the Table "dbo_View", which is not in the primary data source."
Somehow, the entity is tied to the "primary" datasource. When I change it back to DS1, everything works fine. Any thoughts? What can I do?

I have created database and OLAP cube in Analysis services using SSAS.In SSAS I have used a datasource which is using SQL tables to populate OLAP cube.Now when I added some more data to my SQL tables and trying to deploy cube,the newly added is not getting populated in the cube.So i want run SSIS package which will import data from SQL tables to this OLAP cube.
Can you please help me how to write this SSIS package to import data from SQL tables to OLAP cube.(Very urgent issue)

Is there a way to test that the transaction works. I don't now how to cause an error that would cause the transaction to roll back and raise the error with the details of the exception.

If the NT / SQL is running, "@Results" should = 0 (success on the ECHO to the PIPE)
If the NT / SQL is NOT running, "@Results" should = 1 (error on the ECHO to the PIPE)
If I test in QA, I get the expected "@Results" values.
If I run the proc, I get "@Results" = 0 for both events, and them my proc fails on the remote proc call if the NT / SQL is NOT running.
I don't know how to write DMO in TSQL to try that.
I have also tried using 'odbcping' too.
HINTS? Better way to test remote NT / SQL is NOT running?

i have performed all the steps for the replication there are two problems i encounytring
(i) how to check whether the replication is working or not
(ii) can replication on the subscribing server automatically create the table which publishing server is publshing
(iii)please tell me someother forums for sql server
what my knowledge says that in replication if i modify the data at one place it should automatically be modified in the subscribing server but this thing is also not happening (its not flashing any error message as such)
please tell me what all things i need to do to make sure that everything starts working

Has anyone ever heard of using Response.Write to test sql queries in the query designer? Here is the actual suggestion I was given recently:
Response.write your sql query. Copy the query to your db query tool and run the query. Adjust the query as necessary to return the recordset you desire. When you have the proper query, adjust your asp code.
The query editor/designer doesn't like certain symbols and extraneous code. So how exactly can you use Response.Write with a sql query without getting errors in designer?
I've begun some testing with the June beta of SQL 2005. One problemI've hit is with scalar-valued functions. The error I often get whenexecuting functions is "Select statements included within a functioncannot return data to a client.". How do I test failover to point to the mirrored database instead of the principal without having to stop the primary instance? I would like to just bring the mirrored database on the primary instance to an offline status and see that the same database on the mirrored instance getting activated as the primary. This does not happen if I try to put the database on the primary server "offline" as it complains that any database that is being mirrored cannot be taken offline.
