Help! AcquireConnection Method Call To The Connection Manager Failed With Error Code 0xC0202009

Feb 17, 2006

The package runs fine if I run it by itself. Unfortunately we want to call it from another package and when we do so it fails everytime with the following error; "AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "BPCSF" failed with error code 0xC0202009." This package is calling an AS400 and pulling data from it into a staging environment. The task that is failing is 4th task on the list and is the 3rd task to call the AS400 environment. If I need to provide more information I would be happy to do so. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The AcquireConnection Method Call To The Connection Manager Myconnection Failed With Error Code 0xC0202009.

Oct 9, 2007

I can run this package in Studio and it works fine, but when I run it from SQL Server Agent, it throws this error. Does anybody know what would cause this problem. This appears to occur during validation for the package because none of the data flow steps run. The connection being used is the same connection used in all of the data flows. If validation is done in order, then prior steps using the same connection are passing validation.

Thanks,

The AcquireConnection Method Call To The Connection Manager 'Blah Blah' Failed With Error Code 0xC0202009.

Apr 27, 2007

Hello everyone,

I am struggling with this error and it's starting to get to me!

I have setup a simple project with just a data flow task. In this task, it retrieves a simple record "Select * From Table1 WhereId=1". The connection is an OLE Db connection using Advantage Oledb Provider (a provider for accessing dBase). It is accessing a Novell network drive. I have setup the package to both "EncryptSensitiveWithPassword" and "DontSaveSensitive". Both times i have received this error.

The funny thing is, when I set the package to "EncryptSensitiveWithPassword" and I setup a job to run the package, it never asks me for the password even though I set one up! I have a previous package (few months ago I made) that accessed the same database on the same Network drive and it works! It also asks me for a password when I try to modify or run the package (b/c I set it to "EncryptW/Password").

Can anyone give any light into this problem?

Thansk for all your support,

Adrian

The AcquireConnection Method Call To The Connection Manager &&<Connection Name&&> Failed With Error Code 0xC020200

Feb 14, 2008

Hi All,
I am getting the following error if I am using the package "Transaction Option=Required" while running through Sql Job:
The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "<connection name>" failed with error code 0xC0202009.

while I running the SSIS package on BI environment, I am getting the following error:
[Connection manager "<connection name>"] Error: The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D00A "Unable to enlist in the transaction.".

I know the alternative solution is to make the "Transaction Option=Supported", but in my case I have run the whole flow in a single transaction. I came to know that this has been fixed in the service pack1(ref. to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914375). FYI.. some time it was running successful.

I have taken all the necessary step to run the SSIS package in a distributed transaction(like the steps for MSDTC) and also created the package flow in a sequence.

I was going through the link - http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=160340&SiteID=1 but all those didn't solve my problem.

If anyone can help me it will be great. or it is a bug in SSIS?

Thanks.

AcquireConnection Method Call To The Connection Manager Failed

Feb 13, 2008

Hi All,
I have a DB2 database on aix server. we had to move some tables to SQL Server 2005. We created individual SSIS files for each table and saved it on the desktop. When I run the package file by double clicking on it the "Execute Package Utility" dialogue box appears and I can click on the "Execute" button and everything goes fine.
But if I try to open the same package using "SQL Server Business Intelligence Devlopment Studio" or to run the same package with DTEXEC /f <Filename> , it gives me below error.

SSIS - AcquireConnection Method Call To The Connection Manager Failed

Aug 30, 2006

Hi all,

I am facing a problem with the connection method, it says,

"[Store [10069]] Error: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Data Source Destination" failed with error code 0xC001A004. "

(Store - Look up component.)

This problem occurs only when i am using Transaction option, all the component(Look up,Destination etc) says the same error message in the Pre-Execute phase. But i can open the component and can able to see the data in preview.

And also this is not occuring in our testing environment. We have copied the same pakages in our production, the package failed stating the above. I can not simulate the same problem in my testing server.

Has anyone faced this kind of problem? please help me to solve this.

Thanks.

AcquireConnection Method Call Fails When Scheduling A Job With Excel Connection Manager?

May 9, 2006

I have a SSIS package that reads the data from an Excel file using an Excel Connection Manager and imports the data to a table on a SQL Server 2005 DB instance.

When I run this package locally on the server the package being on the file system, the package executes perfectly. Now I upload the package to the msdb database and the run the package from there and the package still executes successfully.

Now I schedule the package to run as a SQL Server Agent job and the package fails and when the logging is enabled I see this in the log file;

OnError,WEB-INTSQL,NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM,Copy to CRN-ALLOCATION_COMMENTS_TEMP,{40A6BF6E-7121-448B-A49D-DED58FDC746A},{BD991566-F4BD-41BC-AEBF-264032D8D0D3},5/9/2006 1:54:52 PM,5/9/2006 1:54:52 PM,-1071611876,0x,The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009.

I am wondering why the AcquireConnection method call is failing when the package is scheduled? I am running the step as a SQL Agent Service Account and it is the Local System account that starts up the SQL Server Agent and Server and is an Administrator on the box.

Any inputs will be much appreciated.

I'm trying to create a simple Data transfermation. I have a flat file that came of a unix server.. it's 177 bytes wide.. thought it was 175, but when I created the flat file connector, I could see some extra characters on the end.

Failed OLEDB Connection: Cannot Aquire Connection From Connection Manager

Feb 6, 2008

I have a package that uses a for loop to iterate through an unknown amount of excel files and pull their data into a table. However, there will be cases when the file is corrupted or has some sort of problem so that either the transformation will fail or the excel data source will fail with an oledb connection error.
Could anyone suggest a clean way to trap these errors? Specifically, the "Cannot Aquire Connection from Connection Manager", which is the excel connection.

Error: The Connection Manager Failed To Defect From The Transaction.

Aug 3, 2007

Does anybody know what it means?
The context is: a package with a single Data Flow finishes with this error: [Connection manager "xxx"] Error: The connection manager failed to defect from the transaction.
All components inside the data flow reports a successfull green status, however the DataFlow Task remains yellow for a long time, when suddenly the package stops with the above message. Another information is that the table remains locked during package execution (a select on that table does not complete...). This is a serious issue, and I couldnt find any relevant information about that. Thanks in advance.

Excel Flat File Connection Manager Error.

Oct 2, 2006

Hi There

I am having some issues with dts packages i have migrated using the package migration wizard.

One of the connection managers points to an execl flat file source.

I have not altered anything after the package migration, the conenction manager is using Native OLE DBMicrosoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider.

When i test the connection i get the following error :

"Test connection failed becuase of an error in initializing provider. Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file is missing or opened exclusively by anotehr user."

Ok i am 99% sure this file is not being accessed by another user, the rest of the error is greek to me. Looking on the net for this error it has to do with access database security and having to sertup htm pages for IIS, i cannot findanything on this error relating to ssis connection manager.

PLEASE HELP.

Error Code 0xC0202009 + Connection Password

Dec 15, 2005

Hi,

I have developed a .dtsx package than runs normally from my computer. When I import it on the server and assign it to a job it always fails.

I tried also to run it directly from the server (remote desktop) and also faild. I exported the dtsx file on server and refresh the db connections and after that workd fine from the server.

Another work-around was to use windows authentication. Then runs normally from the server.

It seems that connection password is lost when importing the report on server. (The import is done in MSDB not in the filesystem)

But I can not design all the jobs on the server (work-around A) or use windows authentication (work-around B)

What is the problem and what can I do?

I have also played around with "save sensitive information" but with no results.

Thanks

The Connection Type OLEDB Specified For Connection Manager Is Not Recognized As A Valid Connection Manager Type - Why?

Mar 17, 2008

Greetings,

I have an SSIS package that I need to modify. It was developed in Visual Studio 2005 and runs faithfully in production on SQL Server 2005. Suddenly, I can't open the package on my own workstation. I see a big red "X" image and a message stating "Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document." The real reason the document can't be loaded appears to be:

Error loading DataWarehouseLoader.dtsx: The connection type "OLEDB" specified for connection manager "Warehouse Logging OLE DB" is not recognized as a valid connection manager type. This error is returned when an attempt is made to create a connection manager for an unknown connection type. Check the spelling in the connection type name.

Does anyone know what causes this and what I can do? The package has been in production for 9 months and I've never seen this problem before.

Thanks,

SSPI Handshake Failed With Error Code 0x8009030c While Establishing A Connection With Integrated Security; The Connection Has Be

Mar 7, 2006

Hello, I have a sql 2005 server, and I am a developer, with the database on my own machine. It alwayws works for me but after some minutes the other developer cant work in the application

He got this error

Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]

and When I see the log event after that error, it comes with another error.

SSPI handshake failed with error code 0x8009030c while establishing a connection with integrated security; the connection has been closed. [CLIENT: 192.168.1.140]

He has IIS5 and me too.

I created a user on the domain called ASPSYS with password, then in the IIS on anonymous authentication I put that user with that password, and it works, on both machines.

and in the connection string I have.

<add key="sqlconn" value="Data Source=ESTACION15;Initial Catalog=GescomDefinitiva;Integrated Security=SSPI; Trusted_Connection=true"/>

I go to the profiler, and I see that when he browses a page, the database is accesed with user ASPSYS, but when I browse a page, the database is accesed with user SElevalencia.

Thats strange.

The only way that the other developer can work again on the project is to restart the whole machine. He has windows xp profession, I have windows 2000.

If you want me to send logs please tellme

Dynamic Changes Of AS Connection Manager Failed

Feb 15, 2007

Hi,

in my actual szenario I have to change the Server (Connection String) of Analysis Services Connection Manager from my testserver SERVER1 to my production server SERVER2. Nearly everything is easy...I set a variable to the correct servername and I used a expression to change the connection string of the connection manager during run-time. I used this technic serveral time with ole db and it works fine.

Debugging of the project shows that the variable is set correctly. The delay validation flag is set to true. When I run the package the connection establish a connection to the server which I use due designtime.

Does anybody have an idea how I can fix it?

Excel Connection Manager And Expressions

Feb 1, 2007

Hello,

I have a question regarding which expressions need to be set to have the excel connection manager be able to create/update a file dynamically. I'm reading a path in from a database and storing it in a variable. The path is just the location of an excel file. What I would like to have happen is that the excel connection manager be dynamic so that if I wanted to change where this file went or the name I could simply change the value in the database.

I've tried setting the expressions, in the Excel connection Manager: ConnectionString,ExcelFilePath, and Servername to the variable \pathfolderfile.xls with no luck. The ConnectionString seems to be a little funny because it contains Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data source = ; Extended Properties =; HDR=YES", so I don't know if I can just use that expression and ignore the others or what.

Any help would appreciated,

Phil

I've checked the rest of the configuration file and wherever something needs a username and password, they are entered correctly. I've also made sure that the account I'm logged onto our server and running the package under can access the excel file in question with no issues.

What is abit strange is that I have another package that runs in a similar way and also uses an Excel Connection Manager but from a different folder in the same area and that runs fine. I've tried to compare the 2 sets of connection managers to see if I can spot the difference but I've been unable to so far. Al that I can see that is different is the folder winningproject somtimes being in lowercase and then sometimes having capitals, but that doesn't seem to make any difference.

I'm hoping a fresh pair of eyes will be able to spot something obvious that I've missed!! Below is the Excel Connection Manager section of the configuration file I have that works fine.:

ProcessInput Method Fails With Error Code 0xC0202009

Jan 3, 2007

Hello,

I have a Data Flow Task within an SSIS package where data is pulled from a Fixed Width flat file, goes through a conditional split, and sends data either to a SQL Server 2000 table, or to another fixed width flat file.

The first condition in the conditional split checks for the following; [Column 44] + [Column 45] != "D1" . If this is true, then those rows go to a SQL Server 2000 table destination. If false, then the rows go to another flat file.

The SQL Server 2000 table has a unique nonclustered index with ignore_dup_key. From what I can tell, it looks like the step fails when a duplicate record is encountered. However, it appears that the unique records still go into the table.

When I check the 'Progress' tab of the package, the following steps seem to be suspect;

[Populate Staging [786]] Information: The final commit for the data insertion has started.
[Populate Staging [786]] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Duplicate key was ignored.".
[Populate Staging [786]] Information: The final commit for the data insertion has ended.
[DTS.Pipeline] Error: The ProcessInput method on component "Populate Staging" (786) failed with error code 0xC0202009. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.
[DTS.Pipeline] Error: Thread "WorkThread0" has exited with error code 0xC0202009.
[DTS.Pipeline] Information: Post Execute phase is beginning.

..and..

Task 2 Isolate Suspect Records and Insert Known Good Records failed

In one case, the source flat file had 74,101 rows. Each row tested true in the conditional split, and all but one row made it into the SQL Server table. The step failed, and the 'Progess' section containted the entries mentioned above.

The Connection Manager for the SQL Server table destination uses the Native OLE DBMicrosoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server.

Is the 'error' that occurs when a duplicate row is encountered causing the Data Flow task to fail, or could it be something else?

Thank you for your help. Please let me know if you need more information.

How To Create An Excel Connection Manager Programmatically ?

Sep 18, 2007

I am following the samples in the online books. I've got an OLEDB connection manager and source component defined. I now want to create an Excel connection manager and destination component (see below). How can I do this?

Dim conMgr As ConnectionManager = package.Connections.Add("OLEDB")

conMgr.ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;" "Data Source=FLL-EIS;Initial Catalog=DataLoad;" & _

"Integrated Security=SSPI;"

conMgr.Name = "SSIS Connection Manager for OLE DB"

conMgr.Description = "OLE DB connection to FLL-EIS."

' Create and configure an OLE DB source component.

Dim source As IDTSComponentMetaData90 = dataFlowTask.ComponentMetaDataCollection.New

source.ComponentClassID = "DTSAdapter.OleDbSource"

' Create the design-time instance of the source.

Dim srcDesignTime As CManagedComponentWrapper = source.Instantiate

srcDesignTime.ProvideComponentProperties()

' Assign the connection manager.

source.RuntimeConnectionCollection(0).ConnectionManager = _

DtsConvert.ToConnectionManager90(conMgr)

' Set the custom properties of the source.

srcDesignTime.SetComponentProperty("AccessMode", 2)

srcDesignTime.SetComponentProperty("SqlCommand", Dts.Variables("User::gsQuery").Value.ToString)

' Connect to the data source,

' and then update the metadata for the source.

srcDesignTime.AcquireConnections(Nothing)

srcDesignTime.ReinitializeMetaData()

srcDesignTime.ReleaseConnections()

' Create and configure an OLE DB destination. (This is where I need help, as this code does not work)

Dim destination As IDTSComponentMetaData90 = dataFlowTask.ComponentMetaDataCollection.New

destination.ComponentClassID = "DTSAdapter.ExcelDestination"

' Create the design-time instance of the destination.

Dim destDesignTime As CManagedComponentWrapper = destination.Instantiate

' Where can I find documentation about the various ComponentClassIds and Properties???

destDesignTime.ProvideComponentProperties()
destDesignTime.SetComponentProperty("ExcelFilePath", Dts.Variables("User::gsExcelFile").Value.ToString)

destDesignTime.SetComponentProperty("TableName", Dts.Variables("User::gsSheetName").Value.ToString)

Ignore Excel Connection Manager Errors

Feb 6, 2008

I have a package that uses a for loop to iterate through an unknown amount of excel files and pull their data into a table. However, there will be cases when the file is corrupted or has some sort of problem so that either the transformation will fail or the excel source will fail.

I have it so that for each iteration if the transform was successful the file is moved to an archive directory, and if it fails the file is moved to a different directory.

But I don't want the package to be marked as failed. For the control flow tasks I have set the individual components to FailPackageonFailure = False, and for the Data Flow tasks I have set ValidateExternalMetadata = False.

It no use to set the MaxErrorCount higher because I can't guarantee how many files will be processed and how many might fail.

Could anyone suggest a clean way to trap these errors? Specifically, the "Cannot Aquire Connection from Connection Manager", which is the excel connection.

Thanks

Help- Problem With Foreach Loop And Excel Connection Manager

Nov 29, 2006

Hi,

I'm trying to write a package that imports a bunch of Excel files into a sql server table. My import routine works fine when I do not use a foreach loop container. I then add a Foreach Loop Container with a Foreach File Enumerator and create a variable to store all of the excel file names to use with my excel connection manager in the connection string property.

When I run the debugger I get the following error:

TITLE: Package Validation Error

------------------------------

Package Validation Error

------------------------------

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Error at Import New Data [My Data (Excel) [4234]]: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009.

Error at Import New Data [DTS.Pipeline]: component "My Data (Excel)" (4234) failed validation and returned error code 0xC020801C.

Error at Import New Data [DTS.Pipeline]: One or more component failed validation.

Error at Import New Data: There were errors during task validation.

Error at ImportMyData [Connection manager "Excel Connection Manager"]: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D.

(Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration)

I've read the varous posts on this forum and others with people having this problem and nothing that was recommended to them works for me. I've also read the Msdn article 'How to:Loop through Excel files and Tables' and followed the directions there without success. I've tried the following with no success:

I've tried to create first a hard coded connection string in the excel conn. manager which works but as soon as I set the experessions: connection string property = my file enumerator variable it breaks.

Turned the Delay Validation to True for the package as well as the task

Set the Connection string equal to not just the variable coming from the file enumerator but to the full connection string : "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" + @[User::excel_filename] + ";Extended Properties="Excel 8.0;HDR=YES";"

I've also tried to set the excel filepath property instead of the connection string and this didn't work either.

I'm getting really frustrated. Any advice on why something so simple doesn't work for me would be appreciated.

Thanks

FeedFile Excel Connection Manager --- Concurrency Issue?

Jul 18, 2006

Hi,
RE. SSIS (v9.00.1399.00) --- FeedFile Excel Connection Manager --- Concurrency Issue
1. I have 15 completely separate SSIS Packages all of which use the FeedFile Excel Connection Manager to read data from completely separate Excel worksheets.
2. When I invoke, say, 5 of these Packages at the same time then one or more (at random) of them fail with the following error message:-
The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "FeedFile Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
3. When I invoke the failed Packages again then they succeed.
So, do you know if there is:-
(a) a concurrency issue with the "FeedFile Excel Connection Manager" ?
(b) a read-only option (in the SSIS Package code) which needs to be specified to overcome file contention issues?

Additional Information about the FeedFile Excel Connection Manager:-

Connection String=Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:DoesNotNeedToExist.xls;Extended Properties="EXCEL 8.0;HDR=NO";

DelayValidation=True

ExcelFilePath= C:DoesNotNeedToExist

RetainSameConnection=False

Note1. The actual Excel filename which is read is generated dynamically at run-time by a Script Task. This is why DelayValidation has been set to: True (Note. The file: "C:DoesNotNeedToExist" does not actually physically exist.)

Note2. We have another SSIS Package which uses the FeedFile FlatFile Connection Manager. When we run this same Package concurrently (i.e. invoke it 5 times, at the same time, with different input files) then all 5 invocations succeed, which is what we would expect.

Thanks.
