View 78 RepliesHi All,
I've developed an application that connects to a SQL Server 2005 Express database. I created a DSN to connect to the database through ODBC. Currently, I am testing locally and everything works fine.
I would now like to install my application on another workstation and connect remotely to the database located on my development machine.
The client workstation does not have SQL Server 2005 Express installed on it because I would just like my application to connect remotely by creating the DSN and using ODBC. What I'm missing here are the database drivers. The "SQL Natice Client" is not available on this client workstation. How can I deploy the necessary drivers with my installation file so that I may create the required DSN name using the SQL Native Client driver?
Thanks!
Greetings,
I have an SSIS package that I need to modify. It was developed in Visual Studio 2005 and runs faithfully in production on SQL Server 2005. Suddenly, I can't open the package on my own workstation. I see a big red "X" image and a message stating "Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document." The real reason the document can't be loaded appears to be:
Error loading DataWarehouseLoader.dtsx: The connection type "OLEDB" specified for connection manager "Warehouse Logging OLE DB" is not recognized as a valid connection manager type. This error is returned when an attempt is made to create a connection manager for an unknown connection type. Check the spelling in the connection type name.
Does anyone know what causes this and what I can do? The package has been in production for 9 months and I've never seen this problem before.
Thanks,
BCB
I have a package that uses a for loop to iterate through an unknown amount of excel files and pull their data into a table. However, there will be cases when the file is corrupted or has some sort of problem so that either the transformation will fail or the excel data source will fail with an oledb connection error.
Could anyone suggest a clean way to trap these errors? Specifically, the "Cannot Aquire Connection from Connection Manager", which is the excel connection.
Thanks,
John T
Is there anyone who tried to use a connection from connection manager to create a new connection in a script task? Including the password?
Now i passed the connection to the script task and called it in the vb script but then the password is not passed into the connect string.
Im searching for an example that works with passing the password in the connectstring?
Any help will be greatfull.

Hi all,
While working on the Integration Services project.
When I try to create a new Data Connection in Connection Managers for ADO .NET SAP Provider, it gives the following exception:

Can anyone describe, what is the resolution for the same.
[One day I will come back here and answer questions, rather than only ask.]
I have a custom connection manager that returns an OleDbConnection. The only thing "custom" about the connection manager is how it determines its connection string. The object returned in AcquireConnection is an OleDbConnection.
Code:public override object AcquireConnection(object txn)
{
UpdateConnectionString();
OleDbConnection oleDbConnection = new OleDbConnection(this.connectionString);
oleDbConnection.Open();
return oleDbConnection;
}
Some of the objects within SSIS only work with an OleDbConnection, but mine is not recognized as such. Is there any way to have my connection recognized as a valid connection?
Thanks in advance.

I am getting the following error when trying to EDIT a OLEDB Connection Manager. I am using VS2010. Im not coming up with any answers to this problem. I just reinstalled SQL SERVER CLIENT TOOLS 2012 That includes the SQL DATA TOOLS/VS 2010 But I still receive this error.
Error:Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed. (System.Data)
I am trying to dynamically change my initial catalog in a SSIS project. Each day I get a snapshot of data from the production server. I am performing ETL on that database and loading it into my warehouse. I am trying to put something together so that each day I get the latest snapshot and if its newer then my most recent one I pass that new catalog into the connection manager. I can already run the sql script to compare the two catalogs but I can't populate the connection manager.

Hi all,
Any idea about how to configure/read multiple worksheets from a spreadsheet using single connection manager?
I think using SQL Command we could able to do - not sure how to achieve that. Let me know the other alternatives too.
Thank you for any help

I have an SSIS package which takes input from Flat file and transfer the data to SQL Server using OLEDB Destination Data Flow Item. The OLEDB Connection Manager used for the destination is configured to use SQL Server Authentication for the user €˜sa€™. The package works fine without enabling the configurations. But when I enable package configuration and save the configuration of the various connection managers in an XML configuration file and then run the package it gives the following error in the validation phase:
[OLE DB Destination [21]] Error: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "<Connection Manager Name>" failed with error code 0xC0202009.
And after the validation phase is complete the following error message is given for the package execution:
[Connection manager "<Connection Manager Name>"] Error: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client€? Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "Login failed for user 'sa'."
Has anyone else run into this?
I am running
SQL 2005 9.0.1399 and VS 2005 8.0.50727.42 (RTM.50727.4200) on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Hi,
I have 2 servers running in a clustered mode(active/active). In which we installed SP2 on peak production time but somehow it resulted in failure i.e it installed partially and sql server is unstable as of now. I'd like to know if it would be fine to restart the server without full installation of SP2 and what could be the implications of a server restart in such a scenario.
Pls help urgent!!!!!!!
i do not understand.

Conn->Provider = "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0";
Conn->ConnectionString="Data Source=c:\mydb.mdb;";
hr = Conn->Open( "","Admin","", adConnectUnspecified);
Whith My account this code work good, but when i try to start my program whith another user login, i have this error:
hr=0x800a0e7a -> Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed.

Hi Folks,
When I try to drag and drop the Multicast dataflow item onto the Data Flow design surface I get the error below. I have uninstalled and reinstalled SQL Server 2005 to no avail. By experimentation I have discovered that the following Data Flow Transformations raise this error as well:
DTSTransform.Aggregate.1
DTSTransform.Multicast.1
DTSTransform.Sort.1
Any thoughts, comments, or pointers? I would really like this to work!
Thanks for your help,

Hello,
I tried to use bookmarks in OLEDB consumer templates and I have problems with using MoveToBookmark. This method sets cursor position correctly on bookmarked row, but it seems to me it doesn't set the right cursor position in DB. When I call MovePrev after MoveToBookmark, I will not get previous row of the bookmarked row.
Simplified Example - I get bookmark of the first row, then move to the 3th row. Call MoveToBookmark (current row is no the first row). But when I call MovePrev I'will not get DB_S_ENDOFROWSET but the second row:
MoveFirst()
bk = GetBookmark()
MoveNext()
MoveNext() // Now I'm on third row
MoveToBookmark(bk)
GetData() - Now I get data from 1st row
MovePrev()
GetData() - Now I get data from the second row!!
All calls to OLEDB returs S_OK.
Does somebody now, whats wrong?
Thanks

i have recently started to work with the analysis services and i am having some problems.
i have made a web application that for now just tries to connect to an analysis server.
The server is installed on an xp sp 2 system.
for testing, i used my local computer, which is running also win xp sp2. After deploying, the application can connect to the AS server on the other machine. the problem occurs when i try to deploy the applicatuion on the production server, which is running win 2k3 server on 32 bit. When deploying, i use the same connection string, so it should try to connect to the AS server installed on a win xp sp2 system.
The first thing that came to my mind was to check the MDAC versions, be cause of the message: "Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed."
on my computer, where the application worked ok, the version is MDAC 2.8 SP 1 Windows XP SP 2
on the win2k3 server, the MDAC version is : MDAC 2.8 SP2.... i thought it was the version of the service pack, so o searched for the update of MDAC 2.8 SP1, trying to install mdac 2.8 sp2 to see if i was to see the same error, but i found that mdac 2.8 sp2 is only for win2k3 server, and for win xp is mdac 2.8 sp1, according to this link: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/884103
Now i got confused and have no clues how to make this work...
Can anybody give any hint?
I am using SSIS 2005 on Windows 2003 server. Using Excel Source to dump the data for staging database.

I have deployed my packages into Sql Server and I am using Configuration File. As my Data Source is Excel, I have changed the connection string during deployment with Server Path. But I am getting the following errors. Actually the File Exist in Path. May I know What is cause of the issue? Do I need to give any permission to execute the package.

Hi all,
I use SqlHelper to connect to database. I need to set a timeout to execute some sp because I don´t want to wait for this sp if it make me wait a lot. So I set the Connection TimeOut every time I execute a sp. But this seems not working properly. I set this value to 5 and I execute a sp than runs in 15 but It waits for it.
Any idea

I am installing Sql Server 2005 on top of WindowsSBS 2003 and VS 2005. After I finish installing it I cannot see where the enterprise manager is. Basically I only get Microsoft Sql Server COnfiguration tools. Am I doing something wrong or this is the way it is suppose to be? I had installed all the features from SQL Server 2005.
I appreciate any help!

2. We use Crystal reports 8.0 now. I noticed a new verison of crystal reports and also SQL reporting tools. But I am confused how the pricing works.. and which would cost more to use on production.. anyone can explain this ?

I have an XP Pro machine running a classic ASP site in IIS - the version that comes on the XP Pro CD. The site makes a connection to an MSDE database on the same machine named InControl. I have moved that database to SQL Express 2005 and want to test it with the ASP site. SQL Express 2005 is running on a separate Vista machine. I am currently using this connection string:
objConn.ConnectionString = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=400SC;Initial Catalog=InControl;User ID=" & uid & ";Password=" & upass & ""
Where 400SC is the name of the XP Pro machine and InControl is the database. The variables uid and upass are pulled from Session when the connection string is created.
I have tried different Provider names and various combinations of server name and ip address with and without port numbers for the Data Source. All of them yield some variation of this error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80004005)[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
What should the connection string look like?
Thanks for the help.
PS - If the solution involves a port, do I need to make that port an exception in the Vista Firewall?
Hi
My C# application has a DataGridView which is bound to a DataSet. I used Visual Studio to add/configure the data source. Everything works fine on my computer. When I try to run the application on another computer I can't connect to the database, because it uses a wrong connection string.
How can I make a specific connection/connection string permanent for a specific application?
Thanks.
