This may seem a simple question, but are there specific precautions that should be fundamentally taken when resetting the time between two SQL servers that replicate?
During this latest time change, the value of getutcdate() was offset by one hour as called from SQL Server. True UTC time should never be impacted (or changed) by any Daylight Savings Time activity. This is likely not an OS issue, since IIS logs did show the correct UTC time (unchanging) during the DST time change.
Here is a record of how the time change was handled by a running SQL 2000 sp4 Server as these functions were called:
getutcdate() = Oct 29 2006 5:50AM //ran at the same time as// getdate() = Oct 29 2006 1:50AM
getutcdate() = Oct 29 2006 7:05AM //ran at the same time as// getdate() = Oct 29 2006 2:05AM

Below is my error msg. I am trying to save updates made to a table in the designer. my connection time out is set to 0 but i am still getting this msg:

Hello, is there a way to set the database to my local time? I am having troubles using the Membership.GetNumberofUsersOnline method - it is showing users online who in test mode I have logged off, but I think due to time zone difference between my server and myself, still appear logged on. This is causing further difficulties in using my admin functions to edit user information, because for some reason I cannot edit a user who is logged on... Help anyone?

The format of execution time is as below: 6/17/2008 4:43:07PM. Is it possible to change the format of execution time into the following format: 17/06/2008 16:43:07 ???? Thanks....
Prior to insert (into #JobListTable) I need to change the value of the 't2.plant_id' column (from #EquentialJobListTable). This column will have a value of 110, 300 or 320. If 110 then value should be SBGB2, if 300 then values should be RGWP and if 320 value should be RGWP. Is this possible to do?
INSERT#JobListTable ( job_date, job_number, job_phase, qty_received, plant_id ) SELECTt2.job_date, t2.job_number, t2.job_phase, t2.qty_received, t2.plant_id FROM#EquentialJobListTable AS t2 LEFT JOIN#JobListTable AS t1 ON t1.job_date = t2.job_date AND t1.job_number = t2.job_number AND t1.job_phase = t2.job_phase WHEREt1.job_date IS NULL
I created a Time table using BIS. I found that the default naming of time members is too long and redundant.
For example, the wizard generated "Fiscal Calendar 2015", "Fiscal Quarter 1, 2015", etc. However, shorter expression like "FY2015", "FQ1 2015", etc would be enough for me.
Is it possible to change the default naming rule, or does SSAS works correctly if I update the Time table values using SQL?
I am using Sql REporting Services 2005 for viewing reports in my web application. I have to change the chart types at run time basesd on the option. User can select any chart eg. bar chart, pie chart, column chart etc. On selection screen should populate the chart type. I am not able to change chart type at runtime. Help please.
Hi, I am using SQL Server2005 for SSIS. I want to change the source connection dynamicaly evertime. Let me clear, I have to extract some column from excel to MS-Access. I am using Data Flow Task and able to successfully complete the job. But problem is that, whenever a new file comes , i must have to reconfigure my Excel Source. All the time column in file are same, so no need to worry about mapping but how can my package select a file automatically. I have a directory, suppose "C:dpak". I should able to pick the filename and sheet name from this directory every time when my package will execute.
I am using sql reporting services 2005 for viewing my reports, Now i want to change chart type of my report according to diffrent selection, there will be pie chart, coulmn chart , bar chart or many more options resides in my web application and according to user selection , chart of that report should be change.
I Create a measure group and two dimensions using [AdventureWorksDW2012], I try to change one dimension's storage mode with setting property proactive caching as Real-Time ROlap. There is no any warning message when deploying and processing, but error occurs when I query in sql server analysis services, see below for the error messages and the screen capture.
Error occurred retrieving child nodes: the current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed.
Does anyone know how I can determine the number of page writes that have been performed during a set period of time? I need to figure out the data churn in that time period.
Is there a way to keep track in real time on how long a stored procedure is running for? So what I want to do is fire off a trace in a stored procedure if that stored procedure is running for over like 5 minutes.
We are using SQL Server 2008 as our database and use Access as a GUI. I am looking to create a form in Access where employees can access their time card and request changes from management. I want to use the format from the attached screen shot for the form. I pretty much know how to do it all, the only point of complication is trying to figure out the easiest way to get the transaction punch record data on employee_punch_record into a format where I can easily populate the form in the horizontal format you see in the screen shot.
I am not super strong in SQL, but figure I can do it using a formatting table of some sort. quick and easy way to move transaction records into a more horizontally oriented record?
Hi,when i create a new user in a .MDF file, the hour of creation in the field "createdate" of table "membership" is exactly 2 hours less than the time of my computer. Probably something to do with different hours between Europe and UK or ...How can i set the creation hour to exact the same hour of my computer?ThanksTartuffe
I'm trying to extract some data from a table in oracle. The oracle table stores date and time seperately in 2 different columns. I need to merge these two columns and import to sql server database.
I'm struggling with this for a quite a while and I'm not able to get it working.
I tried the oracle query something like this,
SELECT (TO_CHAR(ASOFDATE,'YYYYMMDD')||' '||TO_CHAR(ASOFTIME,'HH24:MM : SS')||':000') AS ASOFDATE
FROM TBLA
this gives me an output of 20070511 23:06:30:000
the space in MM : SS is intentional here, since without that space it appread as smiley
I'm trying to map this to datetime field in sql server 2005. It keeps failing with this error
The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data
I'm struck with error for hours now. Any pointers would be helpful.
I'm looking for a way of taking a query which returns a set of date time fields (probable maximum of 20 rows) and looping through each value to see if it exists in a separate table.
E.g.
Query 1
Select ID, Person, ProposedEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyOptions where person = 'me'
Table
Select Person, ExistingEvent, DayField, TimeField from MyTimetable where person ='me'
Loop through Query 1 and if it finds ANY matching Dayfield AND Timefield in Query/Table 2, return the ProposedEvent (just as a message, the loop could stop there), if no match a message saying all is fine can proceed to process form blah blah.
I'm essentially wanting somebody to select a bunch of events in a form, query 1 then finds all the days and times those events happen and check that none of them exist in the MyTimetable table.
We ran into weird/interesting issue with below details.
Version: Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP1) - 11.0.3000.0 (X64) Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.2 <X64> (Build 9200):
We are using SQLCMD to run DDL script on our product database in below order. That script has below content.
step # 1 - database collation change (case -sensitive) statement as very first statement of the script step # 2 - Actual DDL SQL statements step # 3 - database collation change back to original (case insensitive)
When we execute all above 3 steps in single script using SQLCMD on our test_server#1 , it is successful but when same is being implemented on test_ server#2 , it is failing.We ensured that there is no other user accessing the db and setting on both the server are all default/basic. Separating out all 3 steps in 3 different script working fine. This is only problem when we combine them into single script and fire it using SQLCMD. If it is something related to session/transaction then we should hit same issue on our test_server#1 server as well but that is not the case.test_server#1 and test_server#2 has exact same database/data, just two different physical machine & SQL Server instance.
I am asking about a virtual IP for SQL Server, is there a way we can assign a different IP to SQL Server other than the server's(host) IP address? like the same what we do in a clustered env.
Hi We have a bunch of servers running server 2000 & 2003 along with many sql server (versions 2000 & 2005) databases in a production environment pulling transactions then doing warehousing & reporting.
An audit has shown up 1 production server using English_US 'mmddyyyy' system date formats, all others being English_Australian 'ddmmyyyy'.
Is it safe to simply change the regional settings on this English_US server to English_Australian or will it mess up the data in our SQL 2005 databases? I've not been able to get a definitive answer from anyone yet!
Scenario Recently moved a SQL2000 database to SQL2005. Collation on SQL 2000 database server was SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS Colaltion on SQL 2005 database server is Latin1_General_CI_AS
After restoring the SQL 2000 database on SQL 2005 we observed that the database collation was SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. We have altered the database collation to Latin1_General_CI_AS. We understand this will work for all new objects created on the database but existing objects (prior to the collation change) will continue to have the 'SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS' collation.
What is the best method to change the collation of the older columns to 'Latin1_General_CI_AS' - 1) Run ALTER TABLE ALTER COLUMN <colname> <datatype> COLLATE Latin1_General_CI_AS <nullability> on each varchar/char column
or
2) For each table BCP out data DROP TABLE RECREATE TABLE (taking the new collation Latin1_General_CI_AS) BCP in data
