Toggling Visibility Between Two Text Boxes In Ssrs
Oct 9, 2012
how visibility can be toggled between two textboxes in ssrs? For example if textbox1 is visible and textbox2 is hidden initially and textbox2 should be visible when clicked on textbox1 and textbox1 should go invisible when textbox2 is shown... and then again when clicked on textbox2, textbox1 should be visible and textbox2 should go invisible. In a short, it is like switching visibility between 2 textboxes... A click on first textbox should display the second textbox and another click on second text box should display first text box.I cannot provide parameter as it is not there in the requirement. how to toggle the text within a single text box to fulfill above requirement...
Hi, currently I am using a matrix of the below format:
Column Grouping a) Months (From dataset) b) Amt | Cnt | Ave (Static)
Desired Collapsed View Jan Feb Mar Ave Ave Ave Figures 10 20 30
Current Collapsed View Jan Feb Mar Ave Ave Ave Figures 10 20 30
Expanded View Jan Feb Mar Amt Cnt Ave Amt Cnt Ave Amt Cnt Ave Figures 100 10 10 200 10 20 300 10 30
Issue Faced When viewing the RS report online, the months cell do not "shrink" even though Amt & Cnt columns were hidden in the Collapsed View. When the report was exported to excel, the desired collapsed view was showed where the months cell were "resized" when the drilling is collapsed.
Question Is there any setting required to enable the months cell to "auto shrink" when Amt & Cnt columns are hidden?
I have a matrix with two row fields. The second one doesnt show unless i press the toggle button on the first row field. How can make the first row field automatically expanded to show the second row field?
I have a user table with Label and value fields where i would like to control the display of the text boxes based on the values selected in my user table. Can we adjust the text box positions dynamically based on the user table values.
Ex: Table
Label1 Field1 Label2 Field2 Label3 Field3 ID 100 Dept Sales
Report Design :
Label1: ID Field1:100 Label2: Field2: Label3:Dept Field3:Sales
Expected Result :
Label1: ID Field1:100 Label3:Dept Field3:Sales
In my table i don't have values for Label 2 & Field 2 , can we adjust the spacing conditionally to be utilized by Label3 & Field3 in SSRS.
Note : Above mentioned data is just for an example and in my actual report i can have more than 3 columns and report is looking ugly with all the spacing if i don't have data in all the fields.
i have a report that contains a sub-report that is embeded in one of the textboxes of the table. what i am trying to do is have the main table toggle visilibity based on the value of the sub-report...in my case the toggle is very simple - if the sub-report returns any value at all, then i need the row in the parent table to be 'visible'
I have created a report where I have Z-Index all set correctly, but I cannot see the desired effect of toggling as can be seen in the AdventureWorks sample of SalesOrder report that gets shipped with SSRS. What am I missing?
Hi, I am doing a report in which i have to create Wall chart kind of layout and for that i have to place Text Boxes on the report at run time. Now In my Layout i have some Text Boxes which are going Out of the page(Starts from page 1 and Ending on page 2)but when i am looking my report in the Print Preview the Report Viewer is shifting the entire Text Box to Page 2. Can i do something to print the report as they are seen in the Normal layout.
I would like a form that has 3 text boxes. These 3 boxes are going to be used for entering search criteria. The first box is for searching a field called CasePK. The second is for searching a field called LinePK and the third is for searching a field called DOS. DOS is a date field. The other two are text fields.I am using a SQLDATASOURCE and a Gridview. What will the SelectCommand look like so that I can search the 3 fields using the data from the textboxes?
I have three text boxes firstname, lastname, dob. It is set up to do a like search on the the text boxes. If a user wants to do a search for just the last name it will not work. You must type in something in all three boexes. Doesn't anybody know how to correct this. Here is the code. Thanks.

Hi,Hope if someone can help me here. Keep in mind I an fairly new to .NET and SQL and am learning to break my MS Access habit :) I have a web form that is using a SqlDataSource and a FormView control. In addition to this I have 2 text boxes. What I am trying to do is display results in the FormView based on what a user types into one of the Text Boxes (one or the other…Not both)
The SELECT statement in the SqlDataSource looks like this in concept. SELECT Field1, Field2, Field3, Field4FROM dbo.MYTABLEWHERE (Field1 = @Field1) AND (Field2 IS NULL)OR (Field2 = @Field2) AND (Field1 IS NULL)
I have the two text boxes pointing at the parameters (@Field1 and @Field2) so in theory I would expect that when a user populates one of the text boxes and clicks a button to databind the FormView it would display a record matching that criteria…. But it’s not all I get is a blank/missing FormView. I tried different variations on the SQL statement and tried using = '' instead of IS NULL but still the same results. However, if I populate one text box with a value that I know is not in my table and populate the other with a value of which I know exists in my table is…It works. What am I missing?
Several textboxes are being on a web form for date entry. and we want to allow the user to leave date fields blank (if particular date is unknown). However, when the field is left blank, the SQL Server 2000 database defaults to 1/1/1900 (datatype = datetime). My question is as follows: How is it possible to leave a date textbox field blank, and either send 00 0 000 or spaces to the SQL Server 2000 database datetime field?Any advice/insight is appreciated! Rob
Hi folk.. can some body help me with this problem..???
I have a grid view on a form which has got colums which are set as data combo boxes. and a third column whish is set to a text box. all the 3 controls on the datagrid view are bound with sql server table. they are asociated with two saparate tables within 1 database... now what i want is that the user of the application can select either combo box 1 of teh 2nd combo box. and automatically the syncronize and also the text column asociates with related data..
for example
Country City Pincode India vasco 403802
now while flling the grid vew.. the user can select either country or city.. automatically both syncronize with related data and so does the text box.
I have a report in which there is a field called "Returned Qty" and there is a parameter called Show Qty now I want this field returned Qty to only appear if this show Qty parameter is set to yes. Can Anyone suggest me how to do this?
I guess It could be done by using the properties option and writing some expression. I appreciate the response,
In ssrs, I want to create an expression for the row visibility. But, the expression will contain 2 conditions from different 2 datasets (DealStarts & RowofTrendingVisibility). I have applied a solution from online, but got an error message is
"The Visibility.Hidden expression for the tablix ‘Tablix9’ contains an error: [BC30451] Name 'launchdate' is not declared. "
I think that there is a minor issue in my syntax.
=iif ((Last(MonthName("DealStarts"))=monthname(month(today())) or launchdate ("RowofTrendingVisibility")<Parameters!StartDate.Value),true, false)
I Have an SSRS report which shows questions and answers pulled from a view tables.I have 3 rows: Row 1 shows questions and answers 1 - 128, row 2 shows questions and answers 128 to 248 and row 3 shows 248 onwards.I only want the row with the correct questions and answers to show.So am using this query for example:
=IIf((Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value < 128 Or Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value > 247) AND (Fields!vQuestions_Response_value.Value < 128 Or Fields!vQuestions_Response_value.Value > 247), False, True)
which fails. If I only use= IIf(Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value < 128 Or Fields!vQuestions_Question_ID.Value > 247, False, True) this works. What is the correct syntax for the multiple IIfs as i want both the criteria in the first query satisfied?
VS 2008. I have the following set up. Group1, Group2, Group3 header, Group 3 detail rows..When I set the row visibility (hide based on Group2) on the Detail row, it still shows up when the report is originally rendered.
It should be: Group1 expanded, Group2 collapsed, Group3 header hidden and detail rows hidden It is showing: Group1 expanded, Group2 collapsed, Group3 header hidden, Group3 detail row visible.
I never had this trouble in 2005. Is there something different about row visibility in 2008?
Most of our reports need to be rendered directly to PDF. And since we have multi paged reports, we have implemented document map to have navigation. while exporting to the PDF, Users want the Bookmarks to be visible by default. However, this is not the case. The bookmarks tab in the Navigation tools of Acrobat is not expanded rather we need to manually click on it to see the bookmarks. This behavior is different from Crystal Reports XIr2 where the bookmarks are defaulted to be visible when opening a PDF exported by crystal. Is there any way to replicate this behavior in SSRS too?
I'm trying to write an expression for the "Hidden" property of a column in a table. The column is only populated with data if the group on my table is open. If the group is collapsed, then the column is empty. I'd like to make the column hidden if the group is collapsed. So I'm thinking it would be something like this:
But I can't find anyone who has written this anywhere.
I'm basically trying to make this report do the same thing a matrix does, but the matrix doesn't let me label the columns. I put textboxes above the matrix in line with the columns, but when I deploy the report to ReportManager, the textboxes get thrown all over the place and don't line up with the columns anymore.
So I guess if you can't answer the first question, an alternate question I have is how are you supposed to label the columns (row groups) in your matrix? They don't have headers, if I try to line textboxes up with them they get all messed up during deployment. They have that textbox up there in the top left corner that runs across the top of all of the row group columns, but if I put labels separated spaces in that textbox, the spaces get removed in rendering so the text is pushed all to the left and doesn't line up anymore.
Hello, In an update statement, I want to take a boolean and reverse it. Is there an easy way to do this? SOmething like: update table set boolfield = not boolfield where ID = @ID but that doesn't work; is there anything like this where it will reverse it easily? Thanks.
When defaulted to Visible or Invisible, +/- displays correctly. But when using the Expression, + is always showing as the default even when a group is expanded. Is this expected? TIA.
Is there a way to turn IE7's auto scroll off so that every time you drill down by clicking on one of the "+" toggle buttons the report doesn't recenter itself. We find this window jumping/scrolling highly annoying to watch.
This problem does NOT occur in FFox, just Microsoft's browsers.
We are displaying this report running on another server running Visual Studio 2005's ReportViewer control in an aspx (ASP.NET) page.
We are using SSRS 2005, std edition. FFox 2.0.0.6, IE7.
I am designing a report using SQL server Reporting Services. I need to format my report and it requires for the text in my textbox to appear inclined ( as we have it in Excel). Is anyone aware of such an option in SSRS where we can set the direction of the text to be inclined ? Any help is appreciated !!
How can I get this exported as it is to the .txt file?
Currently I have acheived this with SSIS, where I have kept the header template, footer template in my folder. The SSIS generates the .txt file and then I use the execute process transformation to merge the files and data. I am getting the exact o/p as I want. But in this I am intorducing lot of IO in the package by every time creating a new header for the data to be replaced as todays date and the period to be replaced by the user selected Report Period.
How can this be achived using SSRS? Is any custome code required? Thanks in advacne for your help.
I have reports in text files, with the formatting and alignments all intact, and need not to be changed anymore. But then, if I were to display these reports using IE, the best choice I have would be using SSRS. But then, is there such a feature in SSRS where I can do that? Just to display these reports as they are?
I was recently told SSRS does not support the ability to underline a portion of text in a sentence. Does anyone know if this is true? Couldn't "text decoration" "underline" and "span" be used to underline the web address in the sample sentence below?
(Note when I say "rich" text I don't specifically mean rich text, I'm refering to text with user defined bold, italic, numbered lists, colors, fonts, etc.)
We have a (new) system where we want a user to enter "rich" text notes into a single column using an editor embedded in our application (much like the editor I'm using for this forum) and have the notes displayed correctly in SSRS reports. We were thinking of storing the notes as HTML but I've just tried it and the report displays the whole HTML string, rather than marking up the text.
We are open to marking up the text using any mechanism, rich text, HTML, Word, etc. just as long as we can see it in the reports.
We also need to consider viewing the same notes via Crystal reports.
I tried modifying it and playing around with the TranslateTranform function but I'm really confused on how it works. I can get the first letter in my text to be upside down but the rest is not showing up. It's like it's being cut off or something. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
