Does anyone know of a way to track changes to an SQL Server database so that
I can easily run those changes at a later date?
That is, I want to make schema changes, and record those changes so that I
can execute them 6 months later on a copy of the orignal database.

I want to create a page(using GridView) where it will detect changes made in the database and display it for Administrator observation. I've created a table name history for this purpose.

Hi, we are almost finished developing our database and we have a table we want to monitor because it is getting information deleted from it
and it has a delete trigger on it but we want to track the changes to
the table and were wondering how to track specific changes to a user database?
We want to see who is making the change, what the change they are making is and also what is the time they are making it. I have used
SELECT * FROM SYSPROCESSES
and I am running SQL TRACE with filter on MS SQLEW, and MS TRANS, and
Visual Basic with SQL statements on tblRoute,( the table that I want to monitor) and I want to know if there is any other way to monitor this table more closely?
What would be the best practice to follow to keep track of MS SQLserver changes... Stroed procs, tables, views, triggers, indexes, DTSand also jobs ect....I am not quite sure how Source safe works with sql server. Any otherway to do this... Even if its manual work, its okey.. I have created the database driven web application with asp.net and sql server 2000. now I want keep track three operation(insert, updata and delete) that have been made on tables in a SQL Server 2000 database. what i did is:
1, create a audit table with columns: auditTable, actions, actionUser, actionTime
2, create three trigger(insert, update and delect respectivily) for every table
my problem is that i can not get right user name. I use form authentication and i stored user login information in the database. every time, no matter who is logining to the web application, the action user is always SA. I user user-name() function to get userName(actionUser).
Please anyone can help me to get current login user name, or tell the best way to track operations on a table.

I need to sync several tables from a purchaes software to our own tables.
Not the complete tables, only selected fields.
Each source table has a timestamp, so I could use this to track what has changed.
But, how do I store locally the last timestamp from the source database.
A local timestamp field would register my localtimestamp instead of the one I would like to remind.
Is it possible to capture in a log, all users who connect to the database?

I'm working through the SQL2005 Reporting Services Tutorial. When I try to deploy, I get the error "Connection could not be made to the report server." It appears that I do not have permissions to get to localhost/reportserver (I get a permissions error when just trying to get there directly from "run"). In another forum I saw several people having the same issue. One contributor said that the problem was solved for him by uninstalling SQL2005 and reinstalling using the local system account rather than a windows domain account. I tried that, but am getting the same error. Anyone know how to fix this?

I have sql server 2005 Business Intelligent studio on my machine and Report server on some other machine. I created one rdl file and tried to deploy it on the report server. I have checked the report folder name and everything. But the error mentioned in the subject is being thrown. Additional information is

In the Operating environment databases, may be made tables in the database on a temporary basis but they are still yet and they are not removed, how to identify tables that have been made on a temporary basis are not used (don’t have any read & write records)?

I am attempting to deploy a sample report (SQL 2005 Workgroup w/SP2) and I am receiving the subject error message when I attempt to view the report on the web server. We are using SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition connecting to an Oracle database.
Is this a limitiation of this version? In report designer, I am able to select Oracle as a connection type. If I try to create a data source at the server, "Microsoft SQL Server" is the only option available. If I look at the ReportServer config file, I see many other data connection types available. Did I miss a step, or is this a Workgroup Edition limitation (it's not documented as a limitation that I am able to find)?

I follow the tutorial exactly, but the data I edit through the Edit Dialog Form is not saved to the SQL Server table even though all of the edits appear in the datagrid. They never make it back into the table.

I have a SQL Server 2005 box that was moved from a domain environment to a non-domain environment and was never dropped from its original domain before moving over. Subsequently a new domain was created at the data center this SQL Server box now resides in. The machine was dropped from its old domain and joined to the new one.
All the while the service accounts were set to the local admin account. When I tried to start the Configuration Manager I got the message "Connection to target machine could not be made in a timely fashion.". I read some blog entries and tried changing all the service accounts to Local System and the error message still came up.
All of the SQL Server services run fine. It is just this management console that I cannot open. I wasn't with this employer when this box was moved to the data center so I do not know if it worked prior and there isn't anyone here that could give me its history.
Any help would be appreciated.

I've created a linked server (and set up the corresponding schema.ini file) in order to perform bulk-inserts from some CSV text files into SQL tables (from my standpoint the text files are just for reading purposes). The linked server works fine (I can select the data in the files without a problem).
Now the question: is possible to automatically detect when one or more of those files change in order to start the import process automatically? Something like having a trigger created on the CSV files Or there's no easy way to do that so I have, to say something, to create a Job that periodically checks if the files have changed programatically (say, recording each file's timestamp everytime is imported and comparing the recorded value with the current one, or whatever)?

hi, Is there a way to view any Transact sql in a log for instance, I am iserting a new records into a table. how can I track a log for the isert statment. I know that using bcp code provides me with a log if I use /o in the bcp code. Is there any similar thing for Transact sql
