Transact SQL :: 2012 - Declare Variable With Multiple Values
Sep 28, 2015
In a t-sql 2012, I want to declare variables with multiple values and I am having problems since sql server thinks I am working with numbers when I am really working with character and bit values. Here is a copy of the sql that I am trying to use:
DECLARE @Account varchar(100)
DECLARE @Processed bit
set @Account = '58100,98326,09897'
set @Processed ='0,1'
Thus would you show me what I can do so that the sql server knows that I want the values in the set states above to be varchar or character value for @Account and bit value for @Processed?

So I was looking at the code for the proc created by Ola's script and noticed a number of variable declarations happening early on (like at line 10) but these variable declarations do not have the DECLARE keyword prefacing the variable identifier.
Then, a couple lines lower, a new batch of variables are declared, but this time with the DECLARE keyword. I was under the impression that you always needed the DECLARE. Is it a scope thing? Like related to the fact the first set of variables are before the stored proc's begin statement?
USE [master]

GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON

Alright, so I have this problem. I want to make it easy for me andothers to be able to run a query and easily choose whether we wantMerchants or NonMerchants. Previously, we would have to comment outbits of code and would leave things messy (it would also leave room forerror). So, I'm thought DECLARE and SET would work. Wrong. This is what I have....DECLARE @Merchant VARCHARSET @Merchant = (Select CONVERT(VARCHAR, Id) + ','FROM AdminAdvertiserTypesDDLWHERE Id IN (1,3,4,5)) // Includes Active, Out of Business, Cease to do business, InactiveI've also tried...SET @Merchant = '1,3,4,5'Then, in the query itself I try:WHERE AdminAdvertiserTypesDDL.Id = @MerchantorWHERE AdminAdvertiserTypesDDL.Id IN @MerchantorWHERE AdminAdvertiserTypesDDL.Id IN (@Merchant)orWHERE AdminAdvertiserTypesDDL.Id LIKE @MerchantEither way, it will ONLY show me the merchants whose Id is 1. When Imake the query:WHERE AdminAdvertiserTypesDDL.Id IN (1,3,4,5)I finally get the desired results.Any ideas or tips?Thank you so much!

I have a parameter which should take multiple values into it and pass that to the code that i use. For, this i created a parameter and temporarily for testing i am passing some values into it.Using a dynamic SQL i am converting multiple values into multiple records as rows into another variable (called @QUERY). My question is, how to insert the values from variable into a table (table variable or temp table or CTE).OR Is there any way to parse the multiple values into a table. like if we pass multiple values into a parameter. those should go into a table as rows.

I'm trying to run something like this:
Select ID, FIRST(forename), FIRST(surname) from table1
GROUP BY ID;
I know First doesn't work in TSQL, I used to use it in Access and now need to run something like that in TSQL. Simply getting unique ID with first forename and surname, cause there are some dupes in a table.
There are records like:
ID forename surname
--------------------------------
1 John Kormack
1 James Dope
2 Erin Dupes
3 Will Hugh
3 Walter Heisenberg
So I want to pull out:
1 John Kormack
2 Erin Dupes
3 Will Hugh
How can I run it in TSQL?

I need one query:
create table #task(TaskId bigint unique, Name varchar(2000))

insert into #task values(2, 'Text Text Text <<Name>> Text Text Text Text <<Company>> Text Text Text <<Salary>> Text Text Text')
[Code] ....
Now I need to create an inline function who resolve the task name with appropriate values and return me the resolved task name
select * from fn_TaskResolver(1, 'Text Text Text Text Text Text Text <<Name>> Text Text Text <<Salary>>')
I try this function but its return multiple rows as i just want to return one row. as I have big data set so i don't want to use scaler or Multi Line function.
create function fn_TaskResolver(@TaskId bigint, @name varchar(2000)
Return table

best way to go about this. My query works great and displays the information I require.
EG all demographic for ED, IP & OP. However if a patient has a record in each of the tables then I get the same info multiple times.
What I'm trying to do is a Select Distint against the entire query (below).
eg Select Distinct * from all below.
DECLARE @StartDate datetime = '01 oct 2015';
DECLARE @EndDate datetime = '30 OCT 2015';

DECLARE @Values varchar(1000)
SET @Values = 'WE,EE,CO'
select @Managed = count(Name0) from v_R_System where Operating_System_Name_and0 like '%Workstation%'
[Code] ...
Here i need output like below
Workgroup Managed Active
'WE' 255 ,400
'EE' 300 ,450
'CO' 155, 600
So how to use these three values in the where condition when i use the where clause i have put in condition it will give me the subquery returns more than one value,so how should i use this scenario to accomplish this output?

ALTER PROC [dbo].[sp_GetInvitationStatusTest]

select distinct t1.invited_isid as 'ISID', t1.invited_name as 'NAME',t1.invitation_status as 'STATUS',

If you look at the where clause i have invited by , i get the desired output if i just provide 1 name in the execution such as exec [dbo].[sp_GetInvitationStatusTest] 'marfilj' But my requirement is to make the procedure work with more than one input variable such as exec [dbo].[sp_GetInvitationStatusTest] 'marfilj','sujith' now i should get the output for 2 people but if i run this i receive the following error Procedure or function sp_GetInvitationStatusTest has too many arguments specified.

Is it possible to assign multiple columns from a SQL query to one variable. In the below query I have different variable (email, fname, month_last_taken) from same query being assigned to different columns, can i pass all columns to one variable only and then extract that column out of that variable later? This way I just need to write the query once in the complete block.

In a previous life, for each variable that we passed into a query, we would set -1 to the default for all so that when we converted it to an SP, we could query a specific dataset or or all. The following is a sample bit of code, I can not for the life of me remember how to pull back all using -1.
The following is the code that I currently have, it's a simplified version of the total SP that I am trying to use, but enough to give you the idea of what I am trying to do.
The MemberId field is a varchar(20) in the table.
Create procedure sp_GetClaims_BY_MemberID
@Memberid varchar (50)
as
Select top 100 * from [QICC-TEST].dbo.tblClaims_eligible
where Membid = @memberid
EXEC sp_GetClaims_BY_MemberID '99999999999'
The above SP works fine, I just need to be able to modify it so that I can pull back all records for all member id's, any suggestions?
I am currently working in SQL 2000.

Very basically, I need to return a result set based on another value and only if there are multiples of that other value.
Example. select * from mytable
Returns (--column separater)
John---1---1
John---1---1
John---2---2
John---3---3
John---3---3
John---4---4
So I want a query that would return only
John---1---1
John---1---1
John---3---3
John---3---3
The query cannot be something as simple as this:
Select * from mytable where John=1 or John=3
I have to many possible results to plan like that. I am thinking some kind of aggregate with a group.
