Transact SQL :: Generic Store Procedure Call Without Output Parameters But Catching Output

Sep 21, 2015

Inside some TSQL programmable object (a SP/or a query in Management Studio)I have a parameter containing the name of a StoreProcedure+The required Argument for these SP. (for example it's between the brackets [])

EX1 : @SPToCall : [sp_ChooseTypeOfResult 'Water type']
EX2 : @SPToCall : [sp_ChooseTypeOfXMLResult 'TABLE type', 'NODE XML']
EX3 : @SPToCall : [sp_GetSomeResult]

I can't change thoses SP, (and i don't have a nice output param to cach, as i would need to change the SP Definition)All these SP 'return' a 'select' of 1 record the same datatype ie: NVARCHAR. Unfortunately there is no output param (it would have been so easy otherwise. So I am working on something like this but I 'can't find anything working

DECLARE @myFinalVarFilledWithCachedOutput
NVARCHAR(MAX);
DECLARE @SPToCall NVARCHAR(MAX) = N'sp_ChooseTypeOfXMLResult
''TABLE type'', ''NODE XML'';'
DECLARE @paramsDefintion = N'@CatchedOutput NVARCHAR(MAX) OUTPUT'

Transact SQL :: Combine Two Rows To One Without XML Path

Aug 13, 2015

I have one table list this

declare @test table(Id int, Description varchar(500))
insert into @test
values (1, '<b>Name :</b> XUZ <br/><br/>'),
       (1, '<b>Type : </b> QWE <br /><br/>'),
  (2, '<b>Name : </b> ABC <br /><br/>'),
  (2, '<b>Type : </b> FGH <br /><br/>')

My expected result is

1, '<b>Name :</b> XUZ <br/><br/> <b>Type : </b> QWE <br /><br/>'
2, '<b>Name : </b> ABC <br /><br/> <b>Type : </b> FGH <br /><br/>'

As you can see its combine two rows of data group by id. Issue is If I use for xml path('') then its replace my html tags <b> to like <b> so after that then I again i need to replace all these symbols. Is it possible to get expected result without using xml path or if we use xml path then still my html tag leave as it is.

Transact SQL :: Query To Combine Each Duplicate Found Entry

Nov 19, 2015

I am wanting to create a query so that I can combine each of the found duplicates into one entry.

An example of this is:

Name |ID |Tag |Address |carNum
-------------------------------------------------------
Bob Barker |2054| 52377 |235 Some road |9874
Bill Gates |5630| 69471 |014 Washington Rd. |3700
Bob Barker |2054| 97011 |235 Some road |9874
Bob Barker |2054| 40019 |235 Some road |9874
Steve Jobs |8501| 73051 |100 Infinity St. |4901
John Doe |7149| 86740 |7105 Bull Rd. |9282
Bill Gates |5630| 55970 |014 Washington Rd. |3700
Tim Boons |6370| 60701 |852 Mnt. Creek Rd. |7059

In the example above, Bob Barker and Bill gates are both in the database more than once so I would like the output to be the following:

Bob Barker |2054|52377/97011/40019|235 Some road |9874
Bill Gates |5630|69471/55970 |014 Washington Rd.|3700
Steve Jobs |8501|73051 |100 Infinity St. |4901
John Doe |7149|86740 |7105 Bull Rd. |9282
Tim Boons |6370|60701 |852 Mnt. Creek Rd. |7059

Notice how Bob Barker & Bill Gates appends the tag row (the duplicated data) into one row instead of having multiple rows. This is because I do not want to have to check the previous ID and see if it matches the current id and append to the data.

Combine Stored Procedure

Mar 8, 2007

Hi,
I have two databases DB2006, DB2005.I have the Stored Procedure getdata which has the 2 parameters startdate and end date.This Stored procedure exist in all databases.

STored procedure CallGetdata
@startdate datetime
@enddate datetime
If startdate < 1/1/2007 the call getdata in the DB2006
if startdate <1/1/2006 then call getdata in the DB2005.
Here the problem is if startdate is 6/1/2005 and Enddate is '3/1/2006' then combine the stored procedure results from the DB2006 and DB2005 databases.
I have one idea i.e create a temp table and insert the two Stored procedure results into it.
Create #table1(name varchar(20))
insert into #table1 exec DB2006.dbo.getdata
insert into #table1 exexc DB2005.dbo.getdata
Select * from #table1
drop table #table1.
Anyone please give me better idea than creating temp table.

Thanks in advance

Call Stored Procedure For Last 4 Months Then Combine Into Final Result Set Row

May 3, 2006

I want to call my stored proc for that last 4 months. Basically all I need to do is pass each month's first date and it will do the rest. Should I shove this into a UDF first? I'm not sure if I can do that. The struction is here behind my stored proc: http://www.webfound.net/storedproc.txt

EXEC IT_Get_Dashboard_Monthly '2006-05-03 12:03:43.910' <-- change to UDF or leave it? Then how can I loop and change each month to cover the last 4 months?

I also need to ensure all 4 values returned in each interation show up in one row in the final result set that is produced

Transact SQL :: Can Store File Data Without Streaming On Server

Oct 14, 2015

I need to store file(s) to SQL without streaming / reading at Server. I have created a Web API with AngularJS and SQL. e.g.

var fileType = httpRequest.Files[file].ContentType;
        var fileStrm = httpRequest.Files[file].InputStream;
        var fileSize = httpRequest.Files[file].ContentLength;
        byte[] fileRcrd = new byte[fileSize];
        var file_Name = Path.GetFileName(filePath);
        fileStrm.Read(fileRcrd, 0, fileSize);

Is it possible to send file data to SQL (in bytes) without streaming / reading at server?I don't want to put a load on server for large files. just read  the data and send them to SQL where SQL will do the streaming and store data as varbinary.

Transact SQL :: How To Store Result Of Exec Command Into Temp Table

Apr 7, 2013

I wanted to insert the result-set of a Exec(@sqlcommand) into a temp table. I can do that by using:

Insert into #temp

For this to accomplish we need to define the table structure in advance. But am preparing a dynamic-sql command and storing that in variable @sqlcommand and the output changes for each query execution. So my question is how to insert/capture the result-set of Exec(@sqlcommand) into a temp table when we don't know the table structure.
