I'm trying to replace a view with stored procedure for faster performance. the View is called by end user using a query as below, I need to pass the date as parameter for sp to execute with quotes for it to execute with correct results. Â I tried to pass the date as parameter but could not execute stored procedure with correct results. Is there any way to put quotes around returned date from sub query :Â
Execute statement is like
Exec dbo.storedProc1Â select max(date) from table
I need to pass the above as :
Exec dbo.storedProc '2015-03-24'Â .
Somehow passing the date as parameter is giving me empty result set.

How do you replace quotes in an expression
I mean for example if I needed to replace xx in a string with empty string then the following works: REPLACE(SelectedString, "xx","")
But the example I have needs to actually replace quote marks in a string with an empty string and REPLACE(SelectedString, " " ","") doesn't work. I tried guessing a few option like "E or &QTE or something...
Any ideas ?
Thanks

From Access97 I need to execute a SQL 7.0 stored procedure that accepts several input parameters. A few of these are strings that can have imbedded single and/or double quotes (used as feet and inch identifiers). I've tried extra double quotes around the string, square brackets etc. in every combination that I can think of, with minimul success.
Can anyone provide the correct syntax?
Regards........

I'm cleaning up a column in my table and getting rid of special characters. The only think I can't get rid of with the REPLACE function is single quotes.I'm doing aUPDATE TableSET Column = REPLACE(Column,'''','') --that's four single quotes then two single quotesBut the single quotes in my column wouldn't go away.I know that
DECLARE @string varchar(50) = 'test''s strings'SET @string = REPLACE(@string,'''','')SELECT @string

I have a separate list of calendar years with radiocarbon year equivalents in SQL server but no conversion equation. Most but not all of the data I have is in radiocarbon years. I thought at first I could just link the tables but I don't want the data that is already in calendar years to be linked to this conversion table. Is there any way I can either link the two tables with criteria for which data is linked (Only ages that are in radiocarbon years). Or possibly a way to query all ages that are in radiocarbon years and do something similar to a find and replace with a large list of numbers to change?

I need one query:
create table #task(TaskId bigint unique, Name varchar(2000))
insert into #task values(1, 'Text Text Text Text Text Text Text <<Name>> Â Text Text Text <<Salary>>')
insert into #task values(2, 'Text Text Text <<Name>> Text Text Text Text <<Company>> Â Text Text Text <<Salary>> Â Text Text Text')
[Code] ....
Now I need to create an inline function who resolve the task name with appropriate values and return me the resolved task name
select * from fn_TaskResolver(1, 'Text Text Text Text Text Text Text <<Name>> Â Text Text Text <<Salary>>')
I try this function but its return multiple rows as i just want to return one row. as I have big data set so i don't want to use scaler or Multi Line function.
create function fn_TaskResolver(@TaskId bigint, @name varchar(2000)
Return table
as
return

I have a replace statement like the following:
select  (replace('FMG','FMG','FM'))
So this is straightforward as it will replace the word 'FMG' with 'FM'
However, SSRS is passing a comma separated list like this:
select  (replace('FMG','AFM','FMG','FM'))
And what I need to do is replace the comma separated list of 'FMG','AFM' only. Â I tried this:
select  (replace('''FMG','AFM''','FMG','FM'))
But it still complaining about syntax errors. How do I get the comma separated list to be seen by the replace function?

In some t-sql 2012 that I am using, I am using the following on 5 separate merge statements.
USING
(select LKC.comboID,LKC.lockID,LKC.seq,A.lockCombo2,A.schoolnumber,LKR.lockerId
from
[LockerPopulation] A
JOIN TST.dbo.School SCH ON A.schoolnumber = SCH.type
[Code] ...
What is different, is the value of LKC.seq = 1 as listed below. I am using 5 separate ctes and the only value that changes is the LKC.seq number being a value between 1 and 5. Thus can you pass a parameter value to the CTE that I just listed above? If so, show t-sql to accomplish this goal?

declare @compare as int
set @compare = 8
declare @table table
(
Number int
)
insert into @table
values(1),
(2),
(3),
(4),
(5),
(10)
If the parameter value match one of the values from the table list, select that matched one.If the value does not exist in the table list, select the closest lower value from the table list, in this case, it would be value 5.

We have a stored procedure which currently accepts the following parameter: exec dbo.PurgeOldData <'yyyy-mm-dd'...We want to schedule this sp to run once a (first day of the month) going back to say today's date (or the date when this sp is called to run) minus 365 or purging 12 months data. Basically, the function should convert the today's date minus xxx number of days to yyyy-mm-dd so that the sp accept it as the correct parameter and purges the data successfully. So, if the sp is run on 2015-08-06, it will purge data going back to 2014-08-06 or earlier with the following parameter:
exec dbo.PurgeOldData <'2014-08-06'>
which means, all the data prior to the above date will be purged. Even the sp was run on 2015-08-06, the converted value of 2014-08-06' is entered as the sp parameter.
