Transact SQL :: Passing C++ / C# Array To INSERT Command

Aug 13, 2015

I have to send an array, which are generated in C++ (or C#) to an SQL-INSERT. Something like this:

INSERT INTO Table1
(Col1,Col2)
VALUES(:a,:b)
// a and b are my arrays//:a=A,B,C,D.....//:b=1,2,3,...

Is there any way to do something like my prototype in MS SQL Server? If yes how should be my INSERT?

Transact SQL :: INSERT Array Of Integer Into Table - Wrong Return Value Of Statement In ODBC

Sep 30, 2015

I would like to INSERT an array of integer into a table in MSSQL Server, then count the number of rows in the table with c++ using ODBC. Here you find my code to do this task:

#include <windows.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include<tchar.h>
#include <sql.h>
#include <sqlext.h>
#include<sqltypes.h>

[Code] ....

In my code, I would like to Insert the array and then count the number of rows:

SQLTCHAR Statement[] = _T("INSERT INTO information1(Wert1,Wert2) VALUES(?,?) select count(*) as a from information1 ") ;

Problem : My expectation is, that first 9 rows are inserted into table then comes 9 as result to user (if the table is empty) but this code returns me 1 if first the table is empty. If the table is not empty, it returns 1+number of  existing rows in the table. If I take a look inside the table, the 9 rows are successfully inserted in it. Only the number of rows in the table is wrong.

Hint : If I monitor the database using SQL Profiler. It looks like this:

Why this statement doesn't work correctly?

Passing Array From ADO.NET To Strore Procedure `???

Jan 21, 2008

Dear all,

I need to pass an Array of string from .NET in C# to a store procedure. I do not know in advance the size of the array.
When this array is pass to my store procedure, I need to copy the all content of the array into an SQL table.

Based on that I have different question :

1 - is it possible to pass an Array[] as a strore procedure parameter ?
2- If yes what is the syntax to declare an input parameter as an array ?
3- Does the array as parameter is the proper way to pass unknown amount of parameters ?
4 - If not what are the other solution ? I read some stuff on XML document but did not find any real example which explain clearly how it should be done

Thnaks for your help

Passing SqlDataSource Object An Array As A Parameter

Feb 22, 2007

Hi,
I am trying to get the selected options from a listbox and either pass a SqlDataSource object the array or loop through it and pass each element of the array. I then need to modify the returned databtable to graphing function, but first drop the last column. I was wondering if anyone can help me with the following:
1. Pass an array into SqlDataSource Select OR 2. Pass a single argument into the Select statement and populate a datatable without it writing over the current row each time it iterates through the foreach statement. I am looking for the dataview to append to dt each time it loops. Is there a property for dataview that behaves like the "ClearBeforeFill" for table adapters?3. Update a parameter programmatically
Below code works, but I think it can be more efficient. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!

        DataTable dt = new DataTable();        DataTable dt2 = new DataTable();        DataView dv = new DataView();
       foreach(ListItem liOptions in ListBox1.Items)       {             if(liOptions.Selected)             {                                      SqlDataSource1.SelectParameters.Add("Parameter1", liOptions);                   dv = (DataView)SqlDataSource1.Select(DataSourceSelectArguments.Empty);                   dt2 = dv.Table;                   dt.Merge(dt2);                   dt2.Dispose();                   SqlDataSource1.SelectParameters.Clear();             }       }
        if (dt.Rows.Count > 0)        {           Graph(dt);                             //Pass original datatable (dt) to Graph();           dt.Columns.RemoveAt(2);      //Reformat datatable (dt) and remove last column before binding to Gridview1
           GridView1.DataSource = dt;           GridView1.DataBind();        } else {
    errorMessage.Text = "No data was returned!"; }

Passing An Array Of Strings To A Stored Procedure

Jun 10, 2007

Well, I managed to write a Stored procedure that updates some records in the Northwind Database based on the ProductIDs passed to the SP as a list of strings. This is the Alter version of the SP:USE [Northwind]
GO
/****** Object: StoredProcedure [dbo].[gv_sp_UpdatePOs] Script Date: 06/10/2007 12:07:54 ******/
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
ALTER PROC [dbo].[gv_sp_UpdatePOs]
(
@IDList varchar(500),
@ReorderLevel int,
@ProductName nvarchar(30)

)
AS
BEGIN
SET NOCOUNT ON
 EXEC('Update dbo.Products
SET ReorderLevel = (' + @ReorderLevel + ') ,ProductName = (''' + @ProductName + ''')
WHERE ProductID IN (' + @IDList + ')')
END
 ----------------------
THis works fine inside Sql Server 2005 Query analyser.
 But when I setup an aspx page with an objectDataSource inside the page attached to an xsd file where the Products table is located. When I try to add new query to the tableadapter inside the Products table and point to the stored procedure in the wizard I get this error: " the wizard detected the following problems when configuring TableAdapter query "Products" Details: Generated SELECT statement. Incorrect suntax near ')'.

Any help would be appreciated
And can someone convert it to support XML instead of list of strings. thanks.

Passing An Array Into A Stored Procedure And The 'IN' Clause Will Not Do The Trick

Mar 6, 2008

I have a table that looks like this:

RecordId
PictureId
KeywordId

111
212
313
421
522
623
725
817
932
1044
I need to run a query where I pass in an unknown number of KeywordIds that returns the PictureId. The 'IN' clause will not work because if a KeyWordId gets passed into the Stored Procudure the PictureId must have a record with each KeyWordId being passed in. For example, lets say you need to see the result of all PictureIds that have both 1 and 2, the correct result set should only be PictureId 1 and PictureId 2.

Im going crazy trying to find a simple solution for this. Please advise.

Transact SQL :: Query To Calculate In Array Like Excel

Nov 4, 2015

I am trying to create a "Loan Ledger Card" in SSRS which does the calculation up to report extracting time. I was able to create it on Excel (Click to download the Excel file) as we can calculate amounts for each installment based on Row and Column name. You can test it by putting any amount (Here it should be below 62000 as it is the total balance of loan) in "Amount Paid" yellow cell and see the effect.

I have made a selection in SQL (attached query and result in screenshot). It calculates the total paid amount by now on the first row, and all due amounts in other rows. Basically, It should first deduct the interest from first row, then principle, same process for second row and so on until it covers the whole paid amount.

SELECT
'0' As RN
,memrepay.lnr
,'Repayment' AS Type
,SYSDATETIME() AS NOW
,SUM(memrepay.mprinc) As PrincPaid
,SUM(memrepay.mint) As IntPaid

[Code] .....

How can I do the similar calculation of Excel file in "SQL query" or "SSRS custom code"?

Passing Variables In An SQL Command

Apr 29, 2008

I have an SSIS package. In my control flow I have an Execute SQL Task and a data flow task. In my Execute SQL Task in the SQL Statement I have (select dbo.to_date(getdate()) as process_date) its a direct input with a result set. It gets Getdate as (processed_date) is declared. I have set no parameters, but I have set a Result Set. Also, I have set a global variable in the scope where I passes the date (processed_date)

In my Data Flow, I have an OLE DB data source with the following SQL statement in my SQL Command.
I am trying to pass down the variable as the ? .

It works when I pass it only to: lr.processed_date = ?

But I get an error when I pass it down to the : and ? between cav.begin_date and cav.end_date

SELECT distinct
acc.account_num,

FROM
cust_version_slow cvs

inner join cust_acco_version cav
on cus.cust_id = cav.cust_id

and ? between cav.begin_date and cav.end_date

inner join bia.dbo.acct acc
on cav.acco_id = acc.acco_id

inner join bia.dbo.account_version_slow avs
on acc.account_id = avs.account_id
and ? between avs.begin_date and avs.end_date

inner join bia_org ('02','2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10') boh
on cvs.branch_code = boh.branch_code

inner join accou_version_profit accM4
on acc.acco_id = accM4.acco_id
and ? between accM4.begin_date and accM4.end_date

where

lr.processed_date = ?

I need to pass down the same variable (processed_date) which is ? in all the ? in red

Passing A Parameter To A USE Command Within A Cursor

May 27, 2008

Hi everyone I am trying to pass a parameter to a USE command within the body of a cursor. I keep getting an error. Here is my code.

Code Snippet
DECLARE @SQLText AS NVARCHAR(4000)
Declare @SQLText2 as NVARCHAR (2000)

DECLARE Cursor_Trial CURSOR FOR SELECT name FROM sys.sysdatabases order by name
Declare @name as varchar(255)
Open Cursor_Trial
FETCH NEXT FROM Cursor_Trial INTO @name
WHILE @@FETCH_STATUS = 0
BEGIN
Use @name --------This is where I'm getting the error

Set @SQLText2 = @name
select @SQLText2, * from sys.database_principals
where type_desc='DATABASE_ROLE'
and name = 'xxxxx'

FETCH NEXT FROM Cursor_Trial INTO @name

END

CLOSE Cursor_Trial
DEALLOCATE Cursor_Trial

As you can see I am trying to pass the next database name into the body of the cursor so that the query will pull the role information only for the current database in the loop. Any thoughts or tips? Is there a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do here?

Passing '% Variable %' To SqlDataSource Through E.Command.Parameters

Feb 23, 2008

 Hello all,I'm writing a site with one page that uses the session variable (User ID) to pick one user ID out of a comma separated list in the field Faculty. The default parameterized query designed in the SqlDataSource wizard only returns lines that contain an exact match:SELECT * FROM tStudents WHERE ([faculty] = @faculty) The query: SELECT * FROM tStudents WHERE ([faculty] LIKE '%userID%') works as I need when I hard code the query with a specific user ID into the SqlDataSource in the aspx page.  It will not work if I leave the @faculty parameter in it:SELECT * FROM tStudents WHERE ([faculty] LIKE '%@faculty%') e.Command.Parameters works to replace the @Faculty with a user ID, but again, adding the single quote and percentage sign either causes errors or returns no results.  I've tried several variations of:         string strEraiderID = "'%" + Session["eRaiderID"].ToString() + "%'";        e.Command.Parameters["@faculty"].Value = strEraiderID;no results are returned, not even the lines returned with the default select query.How do generate the equivalent of SELECT * FROM tStudents WHERE ([faculty] LIKE '%userID%') into the SqlDataSource? Thanks much!

Passing Command Line Arguments From Visual Studio

Mar 27, 2006

Hi all,Is it possible to pass command line arguments to a package when running it from within VS? I want to set the value of a variable via the commandline, and found that you can to this in DtExec with the "/set Package.Variables[...].Value;..." syntax. According to the docs, you should be able to pass the same argument via the 'CmdLineArguments' property in the 'Properties' dialog of an SSIS project in VS (CmdLineArguments. Run the package with the specified command-line arguments. For information about command-line arguments, see dtexec Utility), but unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work (even though the exact same argument does work when entered in DtExec)

Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

Passing Command-line Options Through To Package.Execute()

Mar 8, 2008

Hi,
I'm looking into the idea of building an enhanced version of dtexec.exe that builds in some extra logging features. My utility will execute packages using the Package.Execute() method.

Thing is, I'd still want to support all of the command-line options that dtexec supports. For example, my utility should accept "/set package.variables[myvariable].Value;myvalue" and pass it through to the executing package but I can't find a way of doing it using Package.Execute().

Am I missing something or is this just not possible?

Thanks

Passing Error Messages From Stored Procedure To Osql Command

Oct 7, 2004

I have a process that is running on the os. This process is picking up FTP files every 5 min, it renames them so not to confuse them with the new files, copies all renamed files into one file to be used by bulk insert, runs the bulk insert to populate a table, and then runs the stored procedure that scrubbing the data and insert it into another table. For every transaction that I do in my stored procedure, I do the error checking as follows:

IF @@error <> 0
BEGIN
ROLLBACK TRANSACTION
RETURN

If my stored procedure encounters an error, return statement will stop it from running. If this happens, I need to stop the process that is running on the os as well.

Questions:

How can that be accomplished?

How to restart the stored procedure ones the error has been corrected?

Thank you for your help.

Transact SQL :: Passing Parameters Through SP To A Function

Sep 23, 2015

I have an SP that is working, it creates a Union between 3 tables then creates a single table - I am using Visual studio Grid Control to view this by a browser, its working.  at the bottom of the SP is a line of code that calls a function, the function queries a View.  When I run the SP, SQL returns the data from the Union plus the data from the select statement on the Function.  This all works but I can't get the data returned by the function query onto a browser.

I am doing it this was as the parameters in my SP are also used when calling the function, works really well.  Is GTotal a return value?

Here is my function:

In t-sql 2012, I want to run a query where the value is normally an int value. I want to supply a large volume of custID values that are normally int values. I have tried to use a cast  and convert values and that does not work. The query that I am trying to use is the following:

DECLARE  @custID varchar(200)
set @custID = '72793,60546,91069'
select * from table
where in (@custID)

Thus can you show me the t-sql 2012 that I can use to accomplish my goal?

How Would I Send A String Array As A Integer Array?

Jun 25, 2007

I have a stored procedure that has a paramter that accepts a string of values. At the user interface, I use a StringBuilder to concatenate the values (2,4,34,35,etc.) I would send these value to the stored procedure. The problem is that the stored procedure doesn't allow it to be query with the parameter because the Fieldname, "Officer_UID" is an integer data type, which can't be query against parameter string type.
What would I need to do to convert it to an Integer array?
@OfficerIDs as varchar(200)
Select Officer_UID From Officers Where Officer_UID in (@OfficerIDs)
 Thanks
