I want to priorities three items one by one every next day Item1, Item2 and Item3.For example:

I have a stored proc which evaluates a table of 'tasks' to return the task with the highest priority for a given user - at the same time, once that task has been found - I want to allocate that user to the task.
I have created a stored proc that works...however I'm sure this requirement /pattern is common & I would like some best practice for this pattern of update and select within a transaction.
Here is some sample data:

Hey,I have a SQL database that has a list of data, the table is called books, there's a column called book and one called author On the front end, I also have a drop down menu that is populated with the name of the books. What I want is that when a book is selected, a label is automatically generates the author. for example, Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets is selected...the label displays J.K. Rowling. All the data is already in the database and I have had no problem getting the name of the books displayed in the dropdown menu.Can anyone point me in the direction of a good do it your self tutorial? I need to group by transactions at line item level. As the each item in the transaction may belong to different category and I'musing case statement to identify particular category for one column , I'm using sub-query to retrieve the results at item level.

There are two tables testmaster and testdetail. If the value of Price for a particular ID in testdetail is more than the threshold value defined in testmaster, the output should have a new column with value as 'High Value', if the value is less than the threshold the new output should be 'Low Value' other wise 'Ignore'
Example: for ID=3, threshold is defined as 40% in testmaster table, but on 11/12/2015 the new price is 100 which 100% more than the previous value, so the status is High Value as shown below.

Here's my problem. I have 2 tasks defined in my Control Flow tab:
EXECUTE SQL--------->EXECUTE DTS 2000 PACKAGE
When I attempt to run it, by right-clicking the EXECUTE SQL task, and selecting "Execute Task", it only runs the EXECUTE SQL part (successfully), and does not "kick off" the EXECUTE DTS 2000 PACKAGE, after it is done running (even though it completes successfully, as shown by the green box).
Yes, they are connected by a dark green arrow, as indicated in my diagram above.
Why is this?? Am I missing something here? Need help.

I was surprised because when start write column name I saw the pop-up objects list. But this was very strange list, because I didn`t find necessary columns. This list show only "common" objects(such as database nemes, functions & ect). I think that such list(after first select) should show only children objects(columns, keys, triggers, indexes & ect.), after that is you write "from" such list should show only parents objects (Such as table name, database name & ect).

Your observation is correct. Selection list (column names) can suggests correct candidates once user specifies FROM clause.

I need to retrieve list of all databases and the size occupied by them in sql server. As of now am pulling data for each database using sys.dqatabase_files which is hard for me as there are around 40-50 db on SQL Server.

I have a replace statement like the following:
select (replace('FMG','FMG','FM'))
So this is straightforward as it will replace the word 'FMG' with 'FM'
However, SSRS is passing a comma separated list like this:
select (replace('FMG','AFM','FMG','FM'))
And what I need to do is replace the comma separated list of 'FMG','AFM' only. I tried this:
select (replace('''FMG','AFM''','FMG','FM'))
But it still complaining about syntax errors. How do I get the comma separated list to be seen by the replace function?
What I'm trying to select is the closest value from a list given by a parameter or select the matched value.

I have 3 different companies that share the same ticket_types(CRMS System). I need to display the Ticket Types and the 3 company's Ticket Count:
Ticket Type | Company A Count | Company B Count | Company C Count
I can get the information individually for each company, but if a company doesn't have a ticket in one of the ticket_types, then it isn't displayed in a row. So, I tried to write the following, which isn't pulling back any data.
