  DECLARE @c INT = 1
WHILE @c <= 5 BEGIN
INSERT INTO MyTable VALUES (NEWID(),'PREFIX' + RIGHT('0000000000'+ (CAST(@c AS VARCHAR)), 10), DATEADD(MINUTE,@c,@d), FLOOR(RAND()*3), FLOOR(RAND()*2), 'INFO')

INSERT Same Record 1000 Times

Jan 14, 2008

Ok, so I have a primary table that contains the count of a linked table. Since I can let the identity update itself, I should be able to insert the same values into the linked child table.

I need to put the same record in the child table 1000 (that's an arbitrary number, this will be programatically determined by the user) times.

I understand that I can do this:

INSERT INTO SomeTable (Cols) VALUES (vals)
GO 1000

However, I can't make this work when doing an ADO.NET ExecuteCmd. It doesn't like the Go 1000 part of it.

Does anyone have an idea how I can do this VERY QUICKLY without having to execute a separate insert for every item (or batch them)?

The number could be as high as 250,000 in the child table.

Thanks!

Transact SQL :: Query Is Trying To Insert Duplicate Record?

My query wants to insert new supplier if there is any. And it should ignore, if the supplier is already present in the table. But it is trying to insert the supplier which is already available. For example, I have PART A with 2 suppliers ABC and DEF. I am getting data from third party for PART A with supplier DEF. As per the condition, it should ignore the record because DEF is already available . But my query is trying to insert supplier DEF and following that, I am getting primary constraint error.

ADSI LDAP Query 1000 Record Limit For MSSQLServer Linked Server

Jul 23, 2005

Hi,I have successfully set and used a linked server to query ADSI.Since this question also concerns MSSQLServer, I've cross posted it --I hope this is not a breach of etiquette.I have successly created a view based on the linked server.Unfortunately, it only shows 1000 records, and there does not seem tobe any way to set the Page Size.I found the following:http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;243281Which seems to imply that the default can be set by changing registrykey: "HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWind owsDirectoryUI"I have set this key, and also set it for the user account under whichMSSQLServer runs. The value persists after a reboot. The Domain Grouppolicy sets the default to 15000.This behaviour is not restricted to the linked server. If I use thescript found here:http://hacks.oreilly.com/pub/h/1121 I can access morethan 1000 records, but only if I set the "Page Size" property. If Icomment it out to let the default hold, it is 1000.It must be settable SOMEWHERE or the whole linked server thing is ofvery limited use.At present, the best solution I've been able to come up with is to usethe above script modified to run as a DTS package. Transact SQL :: Insert Missing Record Based On A Condition

Sep 29, 2015

How do I get the below scenario:

EmpID DepID
12 2
17 3
17 2

Every Employee should be in Department 2 and 3 (as example EmpID = 17 has DepID 2 and 3 from above table). But when any of the employees either exists only in any one department (as EmpID = 12 has only DepID = 2), then a new row should be added to the table for that employee with that missing DepID.

Desired Output:

EmpID DepID

Transact SQL :: Select 1000 Rows At A Time From / Into A Large Temp Table?

May 12, 2015

I am using SQL SERVER 2008R2, not Denali, so I cannot use OFFSET FETCH Clause.

In my stored procedure, I am doing a SELECT INTO #tblTemp FROM... Working fine. This resultset is going to be used in an SSIS package which will generate a pipe-delimited .txt file... Working fine.

For recoverability sake, I am trying to throttle back on the commit chunks to 1000 rows per commit until there are no more rows. I am trying to avoid large rollbacks.

Q: Am I supposed to handle the transactions (begin/commit/rollback/end trans) when the records are being inserted into the temp table? Or when they are being selected form the temp table?

Q: Or can I handle this in my SSIS package for a flat file destination? I don't see option for a flat file destination like I do for an OLE DB Destination (like Rows per batch, Maximum insert commit size).

SELECT [metal] FROM [ProductionDatabase].[dbo].[Metalurgy]

SELECT [metal] FROM [TestDatabase].[dbo].[Metalurgy]

This gives me a list of records from [Production].[dbo].[Metalurgy] which do not reside in [TestDatabase].[dbo].[Metalurgy].  Now, I need to use that list to insert missing records into [TestDatabase].[dbo].[Metalurgy].  How can I modify the above code to INSERT the missing records?

How Do I Make 30 Sec Running Query (select C1 Sum(x) From T1 Where C1 &&> 1000 Group By C1) Run Faster?

Aug 10, 2007

It seems when I run the query with the set staticts IO on then statistic reports back with the 'work table', and the query takes 30+ sec. if the worktable is ommited(whatever the reason?) the query take less 1 sec.

Here is my take, I believe work table is created in tempdb...and if not then whole query is using the cached page, am I right?

if I am right then the theory is, if I increase the (via sp_configure) server min memory setting and min query memory, the query ought use the cached page and return in less 1 sec. (specially there is absolutely no one but me on the server), so far I can't make it go faster...what setting am I missing to make it run faster?

Another question is if the query can not avoid but use the tempdb, is it going to always be 30 sec+ time? why is tempdb involvement make it go so much slower?

Thanks in for you help in advance

Value 0000 Considered As NULL Values In The Last Column

Mar 21, 2006

Hello

I use a Flat File Connection Manager for a file with 18 columns.

My column delimiter is the "~" caracter and my row delimiter is "{CR}{LF}"

The source files contains about 2300 lines. None of them contain NULL values.

My last row is a numeric(16,2). Even if it is not the appropriate type for the value I want extract, it works with all my columns.

My problem is with the last column. I have read the SQL Server 2005 interpretation of the row delimiter as actually the last row column delimiter.

But, here, my values are OK and put in the destination table if it is not 0 : "+0000000001352" for example in the file.

If it is 0 : "+00000000000000", and if I considered errors as INGORE FAILURE and put data in the destination table, accepting NULL values, I have NULL values in table for these 0 values. And correct values for non-0 values.

How do you explain that ? How I can fix the problem and correctly read my file ?

For your information, if I REDIRECT ROW in the Flat File Error Output, the ErrorCode is : -1071607676 and ErrorDescription is "The data value cannot be converted for reasons other than sign mismatch or data overflow."

Query Timeouts When Updating A Record Retrieved Through A Websphere JDBC Datasource - Possible Record Locking Problem

Apr 7, 2008

Hi,

We're running a Sage CRM install with a SQL Server 2000 database at the back end. We're using the Sage web services API for updating data and a JDBC connection to retrieve data as it's so much quicker.

If I retrieve a record using the JDBC connection and then try and update the same record through the web services, the query times out as if the record is locked for updates. Has anyone experienced anything similar or know what I'm doing wrong? If I just use DriverManager.getConnection() to establish the connection instead of the datasource, and then continue with the same code I don't get these record locking problems. Please find more details below.

Thanks,
Sarah

The JDBC provider for the datasource is a WebSphere embedded ConnectJDBC for SQL Server DataSource, using an implementation type of 'connection pool datasource'. We are using a container managed J2C authentication alias for logging on.

This is running on a Websphere Application Server v6.1.

Code snippet - getting the record thru JDBC:

DataSource wsDataSource = serviceLocator.getDataSource("jdbc/dsSQLServer");
Connection wsCon = wsDataSource.getConnection();

// wsCon.setAutoCommit(false); //have tried with and without this flag - same results

Statements stmt = wsCon.createStatement();

String sql = "SELECT * FROM Person where personID = 12345";
ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery(sql);

if(rs.next()){
System.out.println(rs.getString("lastName"));
}

if (rs != null){
rs.close();
}
if (stmt != null) {

stmt.close();
}
if (wsCon != null) {

wsCon.close();
}
