Is there any way that I can execute a command after a database is restored? I need to be able to embed this into the database so that when it's restored on any computer, it updates a value in a table.
View 13 RepliesI am looking for a SQL Backup/Restore tools which can restore multiple environments. Here is high level requirements.
1. We have 4 DBs, range from 1 TB - 1.5 TB Each Database. When we restore to QA, DEV, or Staging, we usually restore 4 of them.
2. I am looking for the speed to complete restoring between 1 - 2 hours for 4 DBs.
I am evaluating the Dephix Software but the setup is very complex and its given us a lot of issues with Windows Authentions, and failure in the middle of the backup. I used Guess Software many years ago but can't find it on the web site any more. Speed is very important for us mean complete restoring as fast as possible. We are on SQL 2012 and SQL 2008 R2.We are currently using NETAPP Technology and I have Redgate Backup Tool but I am mainly looking for fast Restore Process.
I modified the trigger template in SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
How to restore default trigger template,like follow

I am trying to restore a DB from FULL backup onto a server (ServB) but that backup is located on a different server (ServA) within the same network. I know that using SSMS 2008, i cannot restore using file from a different server. Due to space restrictions, I cannot copy the bak file (on ServA) to the server where the DB will be restored (ServB). How to restore the FULL db using sql. Basically, the end result is to setup mirroring with the principal server. so i need to restore full and tlog backup
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to make an after update trigger on a table (ARD TABLE) where depending on the criteria the trigger will either insert, update, or delete a row in the trigger table. Basically, in the trigger table there can only be rows where the column status is > 0. So, if the ARD TABLE has a row updated that used to have a status of 0 and now the status changed to 1 then insert it into the trigger table. If the ARD TABLE had a row that used to be 1 and now it's 0 then delete it from the trigger table. And if the ARD TABLE had a row that was 1 and now made any change to that row we need to update the corresponding row in the trigger table.

i have the Audit_log table and the trigger above on Account table..it is working fine and i have some 1000 records in Audit log table , but it did not fire for some customers and i found trigger did not fire for 60 plus customers any possible reasons ??? that trigger did not fire ? I am new in sql server. I am using TSQL2012 database. I have added a new column in processedOrderCount in Hr.Employees table. And created a trigger on Sales.Orders table that whenever orderId is updated it automatically updated processedOrderCount in Hr.Employees. There is a problem that the orderId is the identity column I can't update it. How can we work with identity column? the code of my trigger is:

Why it won't work when I try to create and run it dynamically?
In SQL Studio, I can go to the restore window and the click "verify backup media". This would check the restore plan listed in this window and check if some of the file are missed.Is there any way to reach this with TQSL? I know there is a "restore verify" command, but this will only verify one backup/file and not the complete restore path. I'm looking for a TSQL solution which is able to control that all necessary backup files are still present on the file System and not moved or deleted (e.g through cleanup task).

Where Trace_EnterId is the parent ID and BubbledTraceEnter_Id is the child ID. My test case has nested trace lines that go down 5 levels, but when I delete the top trace line, only the child directly under it is deleted leaving the other 3 as orphans. Here's the trigger:

PROBLEM: The SQL insert trigger code below is returning incorrect results. In some cases the results returned are from entirely different fields than those specified as the source field in the SET statement. For instance the value returne for the Price_BeforeAdj field does not = 20000000? It returns a NULL. See code below.

I created a view that joins several tables together and added an instead of insert, update trigger on it. My trigger works when I do an update/insert directly to the view, but it doesn't seem to fire when an insert/update is made to any of the tables that the view is based on. Is there a way to have the trigger fire when something happens to the tables that the view is based on? The application that the database is using is something that was purchased so I don't have access to the code to change any SQL statements that it's using.

A few weeks ago I've done a SQL Server migration from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2014.It was a bit tricky but anything worked fine.
I have some legacy VB6 (Visual Basic 6) applications written in house which worked with Databases on the old SQL server 2000.Surprisingly, these applications worked well after the upgrade to SQL Server 2014 without having to change a piece of code.
Now, some users tell me that they receive some unusual message when saving data from these legacy applications.After investing for a few hours, I discovered that triggers are not executed when those users try to save data from grids or forms in their applications.Trying to reproduce the INSERT statement in SQL Server Management Studio, the triggers run well.From the application, they don't.
These applications connect to Database Server thru OLEDB connection with the following ADO connection string :
Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Password={password};User ID={user};Initial Catalog={db};Data Source={datasource}.the {user} is a true SQL account who have read/write/delete access in the databases.

Same stored procedure, if i execute manually or if i create sql job and execute this stored procedure, it works just fine..In trigger also, if i execute start job which has stored procedure, it works.My question is,why it failed when i execute stored procedure in TRIGGER.
Is there a way that I can do this at the table level to automatically handle the rounding of seconds, etc. down to the minute automatically without having to use a trigger?

in the process of migrating a big db from server 1 to server 2, we had to roll back the change. I started with taking a full db backup and restoring it on server 2 with norecovery, and then a couple logs with norecovery, and then the last log with recovery.
Is there some way to continue this chain now, I mean to change the db to norecovery, or other way to restore logs.
I dont want to do a new full backup.
If I try to do a log restore now i get the message:

I have a table where table row gets updated multiple times(each column will be filled) based on telephone call in data.
Initially, I have implemented after insert trigger on ROW level thinking that the whole row is inserted into table will all column values at a time. But the issue is all columns are values are not filled at once, but observed that while telephone call in data, there are multiple updates to the row (i.e multiple updates in the sense - column data in row is updated step by step),
I thought to implement after update trigger , but when it comes to the performance will be decreased for each and every hit while row update.
I need to implement after update trigger that should be fired on column level instead of Row level to improve the performance?
While migrating Report services in SQL Server 2005 to 2014, I am trying to restore the Encryption Key in RS Configuration Manager in2014. But I cannot click the 'Restore' button in RS Configuration Manager. So if I should be grant more right to do so or any other action?
