Transact SQL :: Convert Entire Scheduling Functionality For A Report

In our application, we do scheduling.  I need to convert the entire scheduling functionality into Transact-SQL for a report. I'm stumped on how to convert some of that functionality. We use a function from Delphi that I see no equivalent in SQL. Further, we still support SQL2005, so the Transact-sql has to be compatible with SQL2005. So, DateFromParts will not work at all for me as it was added in a later version.
The function looks like this:function EncodeDayOfWeekInMonth(const AYear, AMonth, ANthDayOfWeek, ADayOfWeek: Word): DateTime;
The purpose of the function is:Returns a DateTime that represents a specified occurrence of a day of the week within a specified month and year.how I can do this with a Transact-sql statement? As I said earlier, I'm constrained by the fact it must work in a SQL2005 instance.

What is the most efficient way to write an SP to tackle all kinds of combinations here (where a user could give any search input).I know this must be fairly common to come across this situation.I have written an SP which will take in all the parameters and based on "IF" statements and using "LIKE" in SQL, this SP returns search results.But I wanted to know if there was more efficient ways of doing this, as you can imagine you might end up having several combinations of IF conditions.

I have a table and one of the column have tab delimited value and I need to separate the tab delimited values and keep them in separate rows.
ID      Name                 State     Country
1      Scott, Ricky           NSW      AUS
2       Martin                  VIC        AUS
3   James, Peter,John    WA       AUS
ID column is not a primary key. I want the output columns to identify the comma (,) and put them in separate rows as below
ID      Name                 State     Country
1      Scott                    NSW      AUS

2       Martin                  VIC        AUS

I'm not seeing any built-in functionality for Report Builder to get Top N values. Am I missing something? Is there a way to do this? If not, is there a way to simulate this functionality?

Hi
I have designed a webpage which has a tabstrip and each tabstrip is linked to a reportviewer.
When I click on the very first tab , the print button in reportviewer toolbar is working just fine!!.
But when I select another tab and click on Print button.,it gives a javascript error stating "Permission Denied",
and the print button stops responding after that.
Any clue!!,or this is a bug in report viewer print button.

I am creating a simple report in reporting services. It contains basic fields such as first_name, last_name, ID#, location.
Is there a way to create a search/find function that lets me input a field and it will find the results from any column?
I think I can figure out how to search by 1 single column but want the user to input one thing and search multiple fields.
For further clarification...if they know the last_name, but want the id#, they can search for last name and get all the columns for the particular search....same would work for, if they know the ID#, but want the last_name, they could search for ID# and get all columns in the result.
Is this possible???

Where can I find a comparison between the report builder and designer? I would like to implement an end-user solution and as part of the exploration process I failed to completely understand the capabilities and disadvantages in each of the modules (I€™m talking about the end-users functionality for the given reports €“ not for the designer€™s usability of any sort)

I am planning to use SQL Reporting services in a new remote hosting centre and must provide ad-hoc reporting to a small number of users plus the access to running of previously prepared reports to a wider user base. User access must be thin client, browser based.
The client workstations are locked down to a particular security configuration and there is no possibility of installing .Net Framework on them. Normally, only browser-based applications can be used at the desktop client.
Apart from using Reporting Services (Citrix), what options do I have to provide users with the Report Builder in this scenario please? Are there any COTS packages that would provide this functionality?

I have built an SSRS report and fetching my data from an ERP system, previously we have done the same way and the reports are working fine, but only one report which is also working fine but when the values displayed in Preview or Excel, we cannot see values in Excel, when we click on the cell we can see the values in formula bar, but not in the cell. When we select the cell and change the color it will then display the values. In this report many of the values are displayed correctly, but some are not displayed, so every time we need to change the color of entire report. This is causing issues to the end users.

For my SSRS report, by default the border color is light grey. So how to change the entire border color to black.
FYI: I am able to change the border color for each text box but not able to do for entire table report.
Also i tried by clicking the table report item & then to properties window and changed the border color to black but still there is no change.

As most are aware by now, the Report Viewer controls for reporting services in 12.0 and prior rely on ActiveX to work. Â This causes compatibility issues for any non-IE browser, and as of IE11 and now Windows 10 Edge browser it's causing issues for even IE. Â Research suggests that SSRS 2014 switched out to Silverlight:

However, Silverlight uses NPAPI which is another technology for which all browsers are ending support. Â As of this writing, Chrome has already ended support. Â Similarly/Coincidentally Java support is ending as well.
My question is, what are Microsoft's plan to restore functionality such as print/search for browsers where ActiveX/Silverlight cannot be used since this support is no longer strictly a 3rd party browser situation?

Hi all,
I currently have a report which needs to be scheduled to run on every 1st of the month to get records of last month. For example, on Feb. 01 the report will get all records by the date range of Jan. 01 to Jan. 31. My current report does not have any defined report parameter. It gets all the date range it finds from the table.
Please advise how can I start with this.

one of the requirements is that if the report takes a long time to run the user can start report processing and later
when that report is processed user can see that in his 'My reports' section,
What will be the best way to do this, my main concerns are -
1 How can I use scheduling to accomplish this.
2 How to save the report, as snappshot or what...
3. How can I find in my Web app. that report is ready or not and show a link to it.

Has anyone figured out a good way of doing this?
The only suggestions I have seen along these lines involve scheduling the job every day and then manually editing the SQL Agent job that is created.
However the problem with this is that it completely removes the ability for non programmers to set the schedule themselves using the web interface.
Any ideas?

Hello,
I have a report that uses a begin date and an end date as paremeters along with a user's email adddress to generate thier schedule for the coming week. I would like to schedule this report to run at the beginning of the week and email to each user based on thier email address. So the parameters will be system.date +1 and system.date+6 and user email. I have the users email addresses in a table so the 3rd parameter could be a "for each email in table users...". Is this posssible? Should it be in Report services or a scheduled Stored Procedure? Any help with syntax will be greatly appreciated!

Hello
I have a report i want to cache each night.
To make this possible, we do not use parameters but use filters based upon de user that is executing the report. So we can cache the report the first time any user executes it and the same report is already cached for all users becasuse the security is based on filters, not in query parameters.
When i try to schedule it, i get the message:
"user profile dependencies and cannot be run unattended rsHasUserProfileDependencies"
Although user variable paramter is not used in the query and it is only used in the filter when any user views the report RS dont allow me to schedule it.
How can I schedule this report to be executed all night unattended ?? The user is not a query parameter so it should allow it.

How to achieve by using SSRS. How we can "quick run" report within the subscription menu to ensure report was set up correctly during creation.  Is there any way to generate sample subscriped report without waiting for scheduled time.
I mean whether we can verify the report parameters & data in generated the report. I have verified SSRS report manager .i cant see any button or option to test run the report in subscription feature.

I have made a big mistake. I was suppose to make a report for SQL 2000 but I made it in 2005. Now the Reporting server does not take the report. Obviously, as suggested in other topic here that 2005 report wont work on 2000 server.
Is there any way of converting this report from 2005 to 2000 so that I dont have to redesign it again.

But it is only converting 100 and 1300 but not 900 and giving me this error :

The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value.

This works fine for:Â SELECT CONVERT(INT, GETDATE())
But it doesn't work here:Â SELECT CONVERT(INT, '2002-12-20 11:59:59')
I want to convert date to integer without passing through any varchar conversion/result.
