hey all, i want to know Equivalent of "LIMIT" of MySQL in SQL Server 2005? in mysql we can direclty get data using LIMIT clause. my question is how to do this in sql server 2005? thanks.
I have an internal Project Management and Scheduling app that I wrote internally for my company. It was written to use MySQL running on a Debian server, but I am going to move it to SQL Server 2000 and integrate it with our Accounting software. The part I am having trouble with is the user login portion. I previously used this:
PHP Code:
$sql = "SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = "$username" AND user_password = password("$password")";
Apparently the password() function is not available when accessing SQL Server via ODBC. Is there an equivalent function I could use isntead so the passwords arent plaintext in the database? I only have 15 people using the system so a blank pwd reset wouldn't be too much trouble.
Mysql database provides a storage engine called "MERGE".A "MERGE" table is a collection of identical tables that can be used as one.(Identical meaning same column name,column width, column order etc.) .
The advantage is you can split a really huge table like LOG tables, STATS tables into seperate smaller tables but would still be able to make queries on them like a single table. More details, can be got from here:
hey all, i want to know Equivalent of Load Data Infile of MySQL in SQL Server 2005? in mysql we can direclty load file with Load Data infile query. my question is how to do this in sql server 2005? thanks.
well as you can see from my thread SQLServer is new to me i am used to mysql and i c'ant find the equivalent anywhere on the net... Seams easy enough but i have been at it for 6 hrs and i give up... I am just making a quick database view tool. So please tell me.
How do i load the all tables of a database via an sql command?
Since it took me a while to find this i thought migth as well slap ip somewhere so here is the command to load all data bases... In any case worked for me so...
- > select * from master.dbo.sysdatabases;
And where in the ... can you find a reference to all sql server commands? ... Please.
I have used this mysql code in my programm before:
select * from address order by vorname asc limit 0, 10
It works fine. But now I want to use sql server, and it doesn't recognize the term limit. So I have found out that I can use top instead. I have changed my code into this:
select top 0 * from (select top 10* from address order by vorname) order by vorname asc
I am looking for a function in MSSQL that performs similar to the LIMIT function in MySQL. Here is the LIMIT function's definition:
The LIMIT clause can be used to constrain the number of rows returned by the SELECT statement. LIMIT takes one or two numeric arguments, which must be integer constants.
With two arguments, the first argument specifies the offset of the first row to return, and the second specifies the maximum number of rows to return. The offset of the initial row is 0 (not 1):
Hi All, Once again I find myself smacking my head into a wall (and it will probably be for naught). I'm trying to find a specific character in a string within a specific record. I've tried substring, but it's not quite getting me where I want to be. I even tried "nesting" the substring and got nowhere (but I could have had the syntax wrong when I nested it).
Here is a sample
Select substring(productimagefile, 20, 5) from my table
What I need is something like this:
Select substring(findoneof(productimagefile, _r, 1), 1, 5) from my table
Actually, on the start of the substring, I need it to be where it finds the _r, just not sure how to tell it that. The replace function is the closest I've seen to what I need, but I don't want to replace it with anything, I just need to find it in the string.
So, if anyone has any ideas, I'd be grateful (and my head would stop hurting....)
Hi, I have been training in SQL on MySQL, and now that I am on TSQL, I can't seem to find an equivalent to the command:
Code Snippet
DESC table_name;--OR DESCRIBE table_name;
In MySQL, either command returns a list of the columns of the table, as well specifications about these columns (whether or not they can accept NULL values, their default values, etc.)
I have a query that returns the data about test cases. Â Each test case can have multiple bugs associated to it. Â I would like a query that only returns the test cases that have all their associated bugs status = closed.For instance here is a sample of my data
TestCaseID TestCaseDescription  BugID BugStatus 1         TestCase1            1    Closed 2         TestCase1            2    Open 3         TestCase2            11   Closed 4         TestCase2            12   Closed 5         TestCase2            13   Closed
How can I limit this to only return TestCase2 data since all of that test case's bugs have a status of closed.
Has anyone successfully used cherry's oledb provider for MYSQL to create a linked server from MS SQLserver 2005 to a Linux red hat platform running MYSQL.
I can not get it to work.
I've created a UDL which tests fine. it looks like this
[oledb]
; Everything after this line is an OLE DB initstring
I have looked around and found the equivalent for IIF (Access) to be aSELECT CASE in SQL. I have tried this with no success. I am also lookingfor the equivalent of MAX and have had no luck. The portion of thestring I am trying to SQL'ize is:SELECT Max(IIf([ADCN.ADCN] Is Null,0,[ADCN.ADCN])) AS ADCN FROM ADCNINNER JOIN Sheet ON ADCN.RecordID = Sheet.RecordID WHERE (Sheet.Drawing= '" & x & "') AND (Sheet.SheetNumber = 0);This portion is the most important:SELECT Max(IIf([ADCN.ADCN] Is Null,0,[ADCN.ADCN])) AS ADCN*** Sent via Developersdex http://www.developersdex.com ***
Recently, my company's deveolpment machine crashed. We had to format the harddrive which meant we lost some of our databases. We managed to restore the databases, but we do not know in what state, i.e. which stored procedures were written between the restore point and the point the machine crashed. Tow questions related to this: 1. I was wondering if there is any product that is similar to soursesafe but appied to databases, so that this problem will not happen again. Does Enterprise manager do something like this? 2. I was also wondering if there was anyway to undo an sql command. e.g. my colleague recently ran a command to update a database, but forgot to write the where clause!! That data was recovered aswell, but it would be nice to have some sort of undo button. Thanks in advance. Jagdip
Is there anyway I can return only the last row of a query, like TOP does for the top most items?I would like to return something like this:SELECT BOTTOM 1 Column_CFROM Table1WHERE Column_A = somethingAny help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hi everyoneI have a table 'users' with column 'residence' New York, NY Houston, TXSan Antonio, TX In MySQL I can select the city by running the following command SELECT SUBSTRING_INDEX(residence, ',' , 1) FROM users. How would I accomplish the same thing using ms sql? Thanks in advance
What is the equivalent to autonumber in SQL 7? I ported over some data into SQL but when I bring it up in Access 97 as linked tables it shows that what used to be autonumber in Access is listed only as number in SQL. So what is the equivalent to Autonumber in SQL?
In this sql syntax Quote: "SELECT table1.ID, table1.Catagory, table1.PostCount, table1.LastPostDate, table1.Description, table2.Username, table2.ID AS UserID FROM Catagories AS table1 INNER JOIN Users AS table2 ON table1.LastPostBy = table2.ID"
Is this the equivalent?
Quote: “SELECT table1.ID, table1.Catagory, table1.PostCount, table1.LastPostDate, table1.Description, table2Username, table2ID AS UserID FROM Categories AS table, Users AS table 2 WHERE table1.LastPostby = table2.ID”
I have 2 SQL statements in Visual Basic(with sybase as backend) 1) "set option DBA.MAX_STATEMENT_COUNT = 1069999900" 2) "set option DBA.MAX_CURSOR_COUNT = 1069999900"
And when I migrated the DB from Sybase to SQL server and try to run the vb code it is giving me error in that SQL statement as MS SQL server might not be recognising the above two statements. Is there an equivalent of this in SQL server. Thanks
