Jul 7, 2006
Hi
I currently trying to construct a package where a file is picked up from a FTP site and then is inserted into a SQL table.
I have created the FTP Connection Manager and I have linked the FTPTask object to this connection. Where does one go from here.
Thanks

Hello
I am writing program in VC++ through SQl-DMO calls. My problem is when i when i tranfer(import) a text file(comma seperated) into SQl server through a SQl-DMO method called ImportData which is a method of Bulk copy object. Its is not able to convert the data field in the text file to corresponding value datetime in SQl server whereas other data types are working perfectly.
This is the record i need to convert:
90,MichaelB,Wintriss,Inspection,Paper,11,Job101,1, {ts '2000-12-10 15:54:56.000'},D:public233 and 247233.mcs,
There are about 1000 records like this .the text file is generated by SQl when i export data from Sql server tables. This file has lot of records. Now i need to put the record in the text file into SQl server tables.During which when i pass the text file it gives problem in converting date and time value.I cannot remove the bracket and ts as ,{ts '2000-12-10 15:54:56.000'} it generated by SQl server tables
and this is the date field
{ts '2000-12-10 15:54:56.000'}
Whereas if i export a table in SQl server in Binary mode and then import the file back it works but when do it as text it gives the above error
Pls help me in this i would be very thankful to you.
Note: I am using SQL Server 7.0 version

I've read about using starsql odbc and sql server 7.0 DTS utility to transfer the database or data from a DB2 to SQL Server.
I have a SQL Server 6.5 and need to transfer data from a DB2. Is the operation the same? Is there a utility in sql server 6.5 that allows this?

I have an application that runs off an sql server 2000 sp3 database. I have taken a backup (.bak file) of the production database and restored it to another server for testing purposes. the users cannot login to the new server because the logins have not been transfered to the new server. I am looking to transfer the logins using the procedure outlined at the following link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/246133/ under the header "Create and Run Stored Procedures in the Master Database". what I need to know is will this procedure affect the production server in any way? (I can't have that) and is there anything else I need to do after this to let the users login to the test server with the same name and passwords?
thanks for any help

Has anyone had a problem transfering a database to a server.
This is the first time I have done this.
I have a site and sqldatabase hosted by a hosting company and I am supposed to transfer my database
This is what I'm doing
From the Start Menu, select "Programs" -> "Microsoft SQL Server" -> "Import and Export Data" then click "Next".
In the "Server" field, type in the Name or IP of the source server (your server), choose "Use SQL Server Authentication," type in your username and password, choose your database from the "Database" field, click "Next".
Note: You can also use Windows Authentication if the SQL server is a local server.
In the "Server" field, type in the hostname of the DiscountASP SQL Server (this is listed in your hosting control panel), choose "Use SQL Server Authentication," type in your DiscountASP database username and password (this was sent in your database order confirmation email), choose your database from the "Database" field, click "Next".
Choose "Copy objects…", click "Next".
Uncheck Use Default Option.
Click Options, uncheck "Copy Database users and database roles", "Copy SQL Server logins", "Copy object-level Permissions".
Leave next window as is, click "Next".
Click "Finish".
It seems to work ok untill it gets to about 90% done then a message says "There has been an error" and gives no more info.
Can anyone help me out

Hello all,I am currently working on upgrading the old website to an asp.net website.Current website uses flat-files as its database, so I need to convert a few files into SQL tables. The file that I am having difficulties with has the following structure (tab and coma separated):OrderID CustomerID ItemNO1 1 1,2,3,42 1 5,6,73 1 4,5,67,4576A,234 2 4,56,678,DF23,75 2 78,2,567,4556,3,45,FG456 3 2,45, F35 etc.... and I need my table to be structured like this: OrderID CustomerID ItemNO1 1 11 1 21 1 3 1 1 42 1 52 1 62 1 7.......................The import function in SQL database will not do this. Is it possible to automate this somehow? Thanks

CSV file name should be like this "<table_name>_<date>" ). also want to put links(dynamically [after generation of those csv files]) in a separate page to download those csv files. how to do this in asp.net (C#)? its urgent.

I am currently woking on transfering the table contents in sql server in an csv file i have created a stored procedure which would do same but the prob i am facing is the data in the table is not clean it contains tab, newline etc so i had to clean the data i had applied the folowing procedure
declare @columns varchar(8000), @sql varchar(8000), @sql1 varchar(8000),@data_file varchar(100)
set @columns=''
--'@columns+''replace(replace(replace(''+column_name +'',Char(10),''''''''),Char(13),''''''''),Char(19) ,'''''''')'''
--print @sql
select
@columns=@columns+'replace(replace(replace('+colum n_name+',Char(10),''''),Char(13),''''),Char(19),'' '') as '+column_name+ ', '
from
[code]...
the table_name contains around 300 columns with the column_name of min 20 characters .When i run the above query i get only few columns instead of all the columns so i tried to find the length which gives me the result as 4000.I had declared @columns as Varchar(8000) i dont know why this issue is coming up?? is there any other way i can clean the data an the transfer it into the file

I am trying to bcp a log file into a table. Fields are "tab" separated and rows are "crlf" separated.
The rows of the file are uneven, in the sense, one row might have 35 tabs and the next one might have 10.
The table i am trying to insert to has 40 columns (maximum no.of columns i calculated from the log file).
I tried both these commands
BCP.EXE TEST.dbo.LOG IN E:syslog.TXT -c -e error.txt -T -S
BCP.EXE TEST.dbo.LOG IN E:syslog.TXT -c -t -r
-e error.txt -T -S
(I also tried using a format file from table)
When I run this, the table is loaded with data but not in the intended way. This is what I have from the table
If the 1st line in the text file has 35 columns and the row ends after it, in the table the 1st row has correct info until the 35th column and instead of going to the next row for the next line in file, it continues to use the next 5 columns in table before it goes to the next row. I think its not getting the row delimiter.
How do I force it to next line.

I have a FileTable as part of an application that a client uses. In general the response of the SQL Server has been great. However, they have started to make use of a part of the application that handles images. The application has a FileTable set up. However, there is a Stored Procedure that retrieves the path of the requested file. It is taking the Server over two seconds to return a single file path.
USE [BMIPictureDB]
GO
/****** Object: StoredProcedure [dbo].[GetFileTablePath] Script Date: 8/31/2015 6:07:37 AM ******/
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[GetFileTablePath]
