I have two views, a list of groups and a list of group members keyed by group ID.
I want to create a flat file, via SSIS, that will give me a basic structure of (this is pseudo LDIF):
groupID: 12345
desc: description of group 12345
chagetype: add
member: <dn of member1>
member: <dn of member 2>
groupID: 12346
desc: description of group 12346
chagetype: add
member: <dn of member1>
member: <dn of member 2>
member: <dn of member 3>
.
.
member: <dn of member 12>
How do I do this via SSIS?
I'm a developer, but don't have a lot of SSIS package experience, so please use small words... Thanks.
I need to create a CSV file by reading a table data , Can any one know how i can do this using SSIS .
My Requirment is that -
I have a temp table in which i inserted all the incorrect data during the load of a flat file using SSIS. Now i need to write all the incorrect data of the temp table in a CSV . Is there is a way i can do this using SSIS , Please help as i am new to SSIS.
Hi, i am dev new project which will be having 10 packages which can be having many source conn mgrs (flat file connection managers). usually we will give file path when creating filat file conn manager. like that i many do for all packages. when package is executed it searches for that file path in conn manager and file get execute where data is available normally.
But my req is i have to create file (say xml) where the path of folder(bec all the files which are used by all packages will be available in the same folder) should be available. so server while executing package it has to search that xml first where it should find the path of the file and finally file has to be executed.
I have a package that writes information to a table in sql server 2005. I created an Excel file called ErrorLog.xls with column headers: AccountNumber and Date. I have a Data Flow Task that inserts from SQL into the Excel File. This works fine the first time. However, I then want to rename the Excel File, delete and recreate it with just the column headers AccountNumber and Date. I need the Excel file to be empty every time the package runs. I am able to create an Excel File using Script Component but how can I also add the headers? Thanks

LEFT OUTER JOIN vwInventoryAllocMapping AS vwMap ON a.TNRAllocTypeID = vwMap.TNRInventoryAllocID
LEFT OUTER JOIN ABC.dbo.ZREFRESHTAB AS b ON a.DispenserID = b.Asset
LEFT OUTER JOIN ABC.dbo.TableJoinKey AS c ON a.TitleID = c.TITLE_ID
WHERE (vwMap.DataSourceID = 3) and vwMap.[DataSourceAllocName] = 'I'
group by c.SKU_NO , vwMap.[DataSourceAllocName],a.Qty , b.Profit_Center

i have to send the result of aforesaid script in batch of 300 records per file (tab delimited text file) now the file name must be dynamically created as each file will contain 300 records.
I have found some document related to same issue on this url
2) NG20150623.txt 2015-06-23 00:00:00.000 NG 20150701 43
3) HO20150624.txt 2015-06-24 00:00:00.000 HO 20150701 43 And so on..
But the requirement is to have a dynamic query where we can have more number of Codes or less number of codes and similarly the package should generate dynamic text files, one .txt file per code. What is the best way to create a package which can meet the above requirement?
We are in the process of trying to automate our production releases (what a concept ;-)
The database is SQL server 2005 All objects are being stored in VSS Using Nant and Cruise Control for the actual migrations. I have two directories - Create (for a brandnew database) and Change (db object changes)
In my 'Change' script, I do the following -
1 - Take backup of database 2 - Migrate objects from 'change' directory to production 3 - Script out all objects of database and save in the 'Create' directory
For the #3, I was hoping I could create an SSIS package that would script out all database objects and save them on the VSS server.
I'm new to SSIS and want to verify it's something that can be done before I start down that path. If anyone has any examples or references, it would be much appreciated.
I have used the copy database wizard, but I realized I had forgotten to shrink the transaction log file. So I canceled the wizard. My database, detached by the wizard, has now disappeared. The mdf file is still there, but when I try to attach it manually I get the "create file encountered operating system error 5 while attempting to open the physical file..." error.
1. Flat File Source 2. Conditional Split, Case Good = !ISNULL(KEY) Case Error = ISNULL(KEY) 3. Case Good -> Writes to Good Flat File (with timestamp in the title) 4. Case Error -> Writes to Error Flat File (with timestamp in the title)
Most job runs have no errors but the error file is created as a zero byte file anyway. If there are no error records I don't want the error file created. How might I accomplish this?
Hello Experts, I am createing one task (user control) in SSIS. I have property grid in my GUI and 2 buttons (OK & Cancle). PropertyGrid has Properties like SourceConnection, OutputConnection etc....right now I am able to populate Connections in list box next to Source and Output Property.
Now my question to you guys is depending on Source Connection it should read that text file associated with connection manager. After validation it should pick header (first line of text file bases on record type) and write it into new file when task is executed. I have following code for your reference. Please let me know I am going in right direction or not.. What should go here ? ->Under Class A
In a foreachloop, I am inserting records into a flat file which is working fine. But the thing is that as the file grows, it takes longer for it to locate the EOF(End of File) of the flat file so as to insert the records.
I have around 70-100 lines written to the file at each loop and there are more than 20k records to be looped. wihich means that at the end I should be having 1400k - 20000k line in the text file.
One solution would be to insert the records at the start of the file itself so that it does not has to lookup the EOF each time before writting.
Another would be to generate separate files and then merge it.
Any idea how can this can be done?
Beside this I have to zip the file and then SFTP to a given address.
Historically I've always written a VB script to copy a file from a sharepoint library. I don't like this method because I have to input a username & password in the script and maintain a config file.
Yesterday I was playing around with using a file system task. The sharepoint file has a UNC path so why not? I created a simple test package with a single file system task that copies the sharepoint file (addressed via UNC) to another network location. Package runs fine locally.
I try running on our utility server but am getting a "The file name [SHAREPOINT UNC PATH] specified in the connection was not valid" error. Package is running with a proxy on the server and the proxy account has the same permissions to the sharepoint site (so far as I can tell) as me.
I am trying to create and later read a data file from a package deployed in SSISDB, but it is not reading it while it is successfully creating the file. The same package when run from the file system package, runs successfully. Generating ispac and deploying in SSISDB is running for infinite time. Is it a permission issue?
I need to build an asp.net/C# application to read values from an Excel spreadsheet. Once the values are read from the spreadsheet, the C# code will do some elementary statistics on the values read. Then the values read and their computations will be written to a sql server database. My manager suggested that SSIS might be a good candidate technology for doing this type of work. Does that sound correct? My only hesitation with using SSIS is that I want to keep the application as simple as possible, so that the code can be more portable. Maybe might argument is not a good one, but maybe someone can help me out here. Ralph
Dear Friends, I store several configurations in the main database of my SSIS packages. I need to get the servername from a xml or txt file in order to get those configurations stored in my database. How you think is the better way to do that? Using a FlatFileSource to read the file and a script to save the value into a SSIS variable? Using the package configuration I cant do that... maybe I dont know, but I can save the SSIS variale in the configuration file, but what I need is to do the inverse, read the configuration file and save the value in the SSIS variable. How the best way you suggest?! Regards!! Thanks.
I have a text file which needs to be created into a table (let's call it DataFile table). For now I'm just doing the manual DTS to import the txt into SQL server to create the table, which works. But here's my problem....
I need to extract data from DataFile table, here's my query:
select * from dbo.DataFile where DF_SC_Case_Nbr not like '0000%';
Then I need to create a new table for the extracted data, let's call it ExtractedDataFile. But I don't know how to create a new table and insert the data I selected above into the new one.
Also, can the extraction and the creation of new table be done in just one stored procedure? or is there any other way of doing all this (including the importation of the text file)?
I am learning SSIS and I am working through the Wrox book on 2005 SSIS. When I try to Import the files from the AdventureWorks2000 database I cannot see the Human Resources files. I was able to go through the wizard once and see the files and select them and proceed, but now I cannot see them. Please keep in mind I am a newby to this. What should I check for or what am I doing wrong?
Hi, I have some knowledge of SSIS and CRM. But i don't know how to create Integration Service using CRM 3.0 as my external data source. If anybody know about this, pls give steps to create Integration Service as soon as possible.
Is there anyone out there that can help me - please! I'm about to put my head through a wall.
I used to be able to create SSIS packages in VS 05. It's been a while since I've done it, but when I went in the other day, it would let me - all I can do is get errors. It tells me an "error prevented the view from loading" when it opens in control flow (blank packages and ones I created before all this started) and I get this error :
"Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)) (System.Windows.Forms)"
If I go over to the Data Flow tab and there are no errors until I click "Click here to add a new Data Flow task", then I get this :
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object. (Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Design)"
So... here's what I've tried.
Uninstalled and reinstalled VS 05 and SP1 (this was before I realized the problem was with SQL).
Uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2003 Web Tools.
Made sure all the MSXMLs were registered.
Uninstalled and reinstalled all SQL Servers and Tools/Components.
Made sure all SQL Services were running under Local Account
Made sure Integrated Services service was running.
Applied all SQL patches.
I cannot get this to work and I need to be able to create packages. The only other step I can think of is wiping my computer and I don't want to have to do that.
Please please can anyone help me?? I've been scouring the internet and working on this for 1 day and 1/2.
When i create a new SSIS project, the system alert will popup a window to show 'Constructor on type 'Microsoft.DataTransformationService.wizards.ETLProjectInitializer' not found'
I installed BIDS, but I don't see any SSIS projects to create.
When I click File - > New Project I see the following options under "Business Intelligence Projects" section.
1. Report Server Project Wizard 2. Report Server Project
No where do I see anything about SSIS or integration services projects. Am I missing something? Did I not download something?
I have Windows XP SP2 Visual Studio .Net 2005 SQL Server 2005 Express SQL Server Management Studio Express Installed Business Intelligence Development Studio
My company has a SQL 2005 server that I connect to in which I want to run SSIS projects off of.
I'm sure I'm just missing something small. Can someone point me to the right direction?
Does anybody knows how to create a DLOOKUP (dynamic lookup) in SSIS withour writing any kind of script? I need to test records existance in destination from the source before inserting or updating in the destination (if the record exist in destination then update, else insert).
