Hi,
I am using Reporting Services 2000. I would like to export the report to CSV format. The column header value is a field value based which can change every month(I am trying to get the current month).
For instance, the report will show
CUSTNAME JAN FEB
Jamie 100 200
When I Export that to CSV fiel in ASCII encoding, I get
CUSTNAME Period1 Period2
Jamie 100 200
The column headers are based on datafield name.
I understand that I can set the column header from the DataElementName property. However, I need the value to be based on a datafield value.
How can I achieve that?
Thanks in advance for any reply.

Hi,
What's the best way to export data from SQL Server to XML format. I've taken over a VB application written to carry out this task but it seems more complicated than it needs to be. Is it possible to just miss out VB and use say a DTS program instead??
I have been given a schema(XSD) file and as far as I'm aware any xml has to be formatted according to this schema.
Thanks
Matt
is there a specific command that can do this using the query analyzer?
Please help me on this.
Thank you.

Hi
I'm trying to export data to an excel spreadsheet in a csv format. Is this possible in SQL?
Thanks,
Missy.
I am using SQL Server Reporting Services 2005.
In one of report i am calling sub report which independently renders in excel format without problem but when it is called in main report as SubReport in Data Table Cell in that cell its giving error message Subreports within table/matrix cells are ignored.
While rendering to PDF format it is working fine.I have problem only in excel format renderings..
Hi,
I have a dts package which is reading from a sql table and writing it to an excel file, its working fine except that I have a decimal field in the sql table but in excel file its writing it as string field.
The way I create this package is that I create a template file and I format that column to a "Number" format. Then I take this template file, rename it, export all the data to this file.
But when I open this file that decimal field is displayed as a string column and its left aligned.
Is there any way to fix this problem?
Thanks,

View 1 Replies View RelatedHi,
I have a problem when exporting a report to Excel.
The problem is with the custom formatting. The report has a field named amount with its format property = C (on the properties window of the textbox in the report designer). When the user exports the report everything seems ok, calculations and so on... but the problem is when from another workbook a cell makes a reference to the cell amount of the exported report. The exported report, has this format [$-1010409]$#,##0.00;($#,##0.00) on the amount cell. In fact every format type of the report designer, begins with [$-1010409].
To reproduce this error:
Make a simple rdl with a textbox format C. Export it to excel. Create a new workbook and make a cell reference to the exported report formated textbox cell (='\ComputerFolder[ExportedReport.xls]Sheet1'!$E$15). Close the exported report and the new workbook, open the new workbook (not the exported one) and update the reference. Results in a #Ref error.
Tnx of your time and effort.
Sorry for my bad english.

I want to create an SSIS package to take snapshots of our database at regular intervals and export the data directly into a SAS JMP File. I have no idea how to go about doing this.

Why does SQL add 4 zeros at the end of a money data type? I have to format my strings once they are retrieved because of this. I am not sure if I did something wrong, but shouldn't it only have 2 trailing zero's?

I need to be able to suppress the printing of a particular value when exporting, but not when displaying on a web viewer on-line. I can place an IIF() condition around the field to do this, but do not know how to obtain a parameter/value/function which would recognize that the viewer has selected an export (To .PDF for example).
I would prefer there be a direct parameter I can read from the RDL language, however recognizing the selection while setting up the viewer to be displayed in the code-behind and setting an external parameter is also an option.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
we use a 3of9 barcode font (TrueType). It works fine with Visual Studio, but when the report is run on the server, the font's width is false (2 times larger, but the correct height...).
We've test different font (barcode or not) and the problem occurs with all True Type fonts but not the True Type Outlines fonts... (and we not find any True Type Outlines barcode font)
Does anyone have an idea ?
Thanks,

Hello all, I am developing my own custom export type via the IRenderingExtension interface, and I am having a fundamental problem getting it to work.
I followed this guide written by James Yip, http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/AddPost.aspx?ForumID=82&SiteID=17, and managed to compile my SampleRenderer class and properly configure SRSS so that my 'Sample' export format is now available in the export dropdown in Report Manager.
However, upon actually exporting a report, the result is a blank file. I have absolutely no idea why the stream I create isn't getting through to the final file.
Here is my render method:
Code Block
public bool Render(Microsoft.ReportingServices.ReportRendering.Report report, System.Collections.Specialized.NameValueCollection reportServerParameters, System.Collections.Specialized.NameValueCollection deviceInfo, System.Collections.Specialized.NameValueCollection clientCapabilities, EvaluateHeaderFooterExpressions evaluateHeaderFooterExpressions, CreateAndRegisterStream createAndRegisterStream)
{
System.IO.Stream stream = null;
System.IO.StreamWriter streamWriter = null;
try
{
stream = createAndRegisterStream("users", "txt",System.Text.Encoding.ASCII, "text/plain", false, StreamOper.CreateAndRegister);
streamWriter = new System.IO.StreamWriter(stream);
streamWriter.WriteLine("Hello???");
}
finally
{
if (streamWriter != null)
{
//streamWriter.Close();
//closing the stream here results in an exception
}
if (stream != null)
{
//stream.Close();
}
}
return false;
}
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong here?
Thanks,
Dan
hi all , does SQL server able to input the date that is originally from 2/6/2004 11:07:46 AM to DD-MM-YY 06-02-04 and store in the DB. For example , this is the SQL insert query
INSERT INTO ADMIN ( ID , NAME , DATE ) VALUES ( 'A001' , 'karen' ,'2/6/2004 11:07:46 AM')
the date will automatically converted to 06-02-04 and store in DB .
Does it need to use SQL Rule or user-defined data type.
We are using the bcp utility (via APIs) to export data from a SQL tablein a fixed format text file. BCP is inserting spaces for a field ifthe field contains a NULL. This is fine with us except at the end ofthe line, there are no spaces for that field just the end-of-rowterminator prematurely, so it looks like that field is not present andmesses up another piece of software we pump the text file into downstream.Example -- The last row illustrates the problem.123-49-890 Mary Smith Raleigh NC
999-88-123 Henry Ax Boston MA
456-99-123 Sue Kite WA
789-88-126 Andy Yates Philadelphia
We have thought about using a SQL query to convert the NULL dataexplicitly to spaces, but were wondering is there a switch or somethingin our format file to get around this.Thanks.
I have created an package in SSIS and getting some problem when i am export date from OLEDB to Excel its format getting change. I am passing date format MM/dd/yyyy and its showing yyyy-MM-dd.

hi,
i have to derive a column from an existing column in my data source with a data type of DATE.
to illustrate my point lets assume that:
i have dt00 as my current column with its data type of date and now i have to create another column dt01 with data type int.
i need to format the date from dt00 to the following format yyyyMMddhhmm, where
yyyy - year
MM- moth in two digits (e.g: 03, 12)
dd - days in two digits (e.g: 03, 12)
hh - hours in two digits (e.g: 03, 12)
mm - minutes in two digits (e.g: 03, 12)
and allocate this value to this new column dt01.
could someone give me some clue on how to do this using the SCRIPT TASK?
many thanks,
nicolas
I'm designing a database that stores personal details of students and teachers for a school. I, wish to know if a there is away of formatting the bit data type to male/female. Cause i am only able to achieve 0 and 1 in this data type. So is there any way to change it, or is there any other data type suitable to provide only two options Also the database should be protected in a way that students may not be able to view or change. Only teachers/admin have the right to access/modify the data.
View 6 Replies View RelatedRunning SQL 2008. Trying to copy data from one table into another table using SSIS Import/Export Wizard. Now, when I do a straight "Copy data from one or more tables or views", no problems. But when I use the "Write a query to specify the data to transfer", it will not let me get anywhere.
My source table has a field that is setup as "time". It has data, and no problems with the field. I even replicated my destination table structure exactly. But when I try to use the Import & Export wizard, for that one field I get an error stating the source field is unknown and it is labeled as "-1" instead of "time".
I found a couple of of workarounds. One is to cast the source field "time" as "datetime", and then end up with a "datetime2" field in the destination table. Works, but not what I want to store in that field. Second workaround is to use TSQL and use a "INSERT INTO...SELECT...FROM..WHERE.." statement. This works, and gives me the desired results with all data types being same in source and destination, but is a slight pain in the rear end.
I just want the Import & Export wizard to work. It should work. Why doesn't it know what "time" is? I even checked the MSSQLToSSIS10.XML mapping file the wizard is using. This is what it has for "time":
<dtm:DataTypeMapping >
<dtm:SourceDataType>
<dtm:DataTypeName>time</dtm:DataTypeName>
</dtm:SourceDataType>
<dtm:DestinationDataType>

I've a text file which having a datetime column value like YYYY-MM-DD-HH.MM.SS.XXXXXX. I cannot convert this is to datetime format from text file using BCP utility.Ā
Presence of hypen "-" between DD and HH, the SQL server does not accept this is as Datetime.
Is there any option to covert the date value in format file in BCP.

I have to map this column in teh report and should dipslay like above.I think if 0.00 is available then it should display as 0..If 1.0 is available then it should display 1.Any value that has postive number after the decimal should display all the values Ā example : 2.25,3.75,5.06,Ā So in general the solution to display values like 1.75,1,0 we should not dispaly 0 as 0.00 and 1 as 1.00 and 2 as 2.00 and so on...Any Solutions in terms of SQL query Ā or SSRS expression.
