URGENT! Error: The Process Could Make A Generation At The 'Subscriber'

Sep 30, 2004

Any help at this stage is welcome!

Due to collation-discrepancies the publisher and subscriber databases have been recreated.
When however I attempt to restart the publishing...SQL gives the message

"The process could not make a generation at the 'Subscriber"

There is enough space on the harddisk of either subscriber or publisher 3Gbyte+
UserRights are ok and I reinitialized the publication.

Everything seems ok and yet I get the error mentionned above.

Can anyone give me some help with this?
Thank you!! :)

when i look at the replication monitor I get an error

The process could not connect to subscriber name/sqlexpress

what can I do to get this working?
I really am trying to just replicate 1 table every minute from the sql 2005 db to the sql express

The Process Could Not Enumerate Changes At The 'Subscriber'

Apr 5, 2007

Hi,

I have a problem with merge replication on SQL 2000.

-Publisher is Standard edition, subsriber MSDE

-Both SP4

-It always fails at same table.

- CHECKDB shows no errors

- It worked OK for a quite long period...

-Replication fails with this mesage ('verbose ouput'):

The merge process encountered an unexpected network error. The connection to Subscriber 'SV-LESNOSAOP' is no longer available.

Message: The merge process encountered an unexpected network error. The connection to Subscriber 'SV-LESNOSAOP' is no longer available.

Some tables in article are merged succesfully so I don't believe it's a network error.

Anyway I will try to recreate the subscription, but there is a problem that subcriber has more data than publisher, so i have to manualy trasfer (DTS) the data to publisher before the new snapshot is applied.
If this also fails i guess i can assume there is a connectivity problem.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome...

The Merge Process Could Not Enumerate Changes At The 'Subscriber'.

Apr 19, 2006

I have two SQL 2005 Standard servers using merge replication, and out of the blue started getting failure notices regarding "The merge process could not enumerate changes at the 'Subscriber'." I turned on verbose logging and noticed the following section:

2006-04-19 12:53:33.227 Category:NULL
Source: Merge Replication Provider
Number: -2147200999
Message: The merge process could not enumerate changes at the 'Subscriber'. When troubleshooting, restart the synchronization with verbose history logging and specify an output file to which to write.
2006-04-19 12:53:33.227 The Merge Agent was unable to update information about the last synchronization at the Subscriber. Ensure that the subscription exists at the Subscriber, and restart the Merge Agent.
2006-04-19 12:53:33.227 The merge process was unable to update last synchronization information at the Publisher.

Using Profiler on both sides, I don't see anything out the ordinary during the replication process until there are two calls in a row to the stored procedure sp_MSadd_merge_history90, where the second one is storing the error message listed above.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Scott Davis

Merge Process Could Not Enumerate Changes At The Subscriber

Apr 27, 2007

Hi,

I've seen quite a few posts about this error message but so far no answers. I'm merge replicating between SQL Server 2005 SP2 and SQL Server 2005 Mobile. Everything seems to run really well until at some point I get the above error message while running the replication from the device. It seems to happen just after I've made a schema change on the server e.g. the latest one was adding some new columns (which allow nulls) to replicated tables.

I've switched on verbose logging and I get the following:

The error message doesn't seem very helpful. Is there another way to find out what is causing the problem? I've tried reinitializing all subscriptions and generating a new snapshot but it makes no difference. The only way I've found to fix this is to delete the database on the subscriber and synchronise again (losing all subscriber data since the last sync).

Regards,

Greg

The Process Could Not Deliver The Snapshot To The Subscriber, Using WebSynchronisation 2 Server Setup

Jan 29, 2007

I am Having trouble trying to set up SQL Server Replication Utilising Web Synchronisation Where the
IIS(Web Server) is on a separate machine to the SQL Server(Publisher). I am using MSDE as the SQL Server Box, however even when I used SQLServer2000, or SQLServer2005 I have had no joy with the 2 separate Servers setup.

If I have the one server then I have no problems (i.e. One Server Setup)
Server A: Windows 2000,
with MSDE installed
enabled for Merge replication,
and has a Publication set up.
IIS Web Page Setup for Synchronisation

My SQL Server 2005 Mobile device syncs via the web page on ServerA Fine, no problems at all.

The Trouble is when I am trying to utilise SQL Server Replication as follows. (i.e. 2 Server Setup)

Basically I am using the Same ServerA as in the one Server setup I had above. All I have done is I am now using a Separate IIS Server for the Web Synchronisation ServerB
I have run the "Configure Web Synchronisation Wizard"(ConnWiz30.exe) on my web page on ServerB. And I am using Anonymous Access Authentication With Windows NT Authentication on my Web Server(ServerB),
the Anonymous User is a Domain user, and is the Same Domain User I used in the One Server setup which I had working (so this IIS Anonymous Domain user should have all permissions required on the ServerA (SQL Publisher) both Windows permissions and SQL Server Permissions.

Server A: Windows 2000,
with MSDE installed
enabled for Merge replication,
and has a Publication set up.

Server B: Windows XP, IIS Web Server(Web page enabled for Web Synchronisation)

I have a Mobile device as a subscriber, which is using Web Synchronisation on ServerB(Web Server), to sync with the ServerA (MSDE Box).
The error I am receiving is "A Call to SQL Server Reconciler has Failed" Try to resynchronise, "The Process Could Not deliver the Snapshot to the Subscriber"

A little extra info:
-I can remotely connect from my Web server(ServerB) to the SQL Box ServerA via a TCP/IP ODBC connection so remote connections does not seem to be an issue.

-If on My Mobile device if I try to Add a Subscription & Synchronise the replication using the
AddSubscription(AddOption.ExistingDatabase), it works fine. (Obviously the subscription database does exist before the synchronisation)

If I try to Add a Subscription & Synchronise the replication using the
AddSubscription(AddOption.CreateDatabase), I get the error as mentioned.

Is there something I have missed? Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

Thanks.

URGENT Merge Replication: Missing Rows At Publisher And Subscriber: No Conflicts

Jun 9, 2006

We have SQL Server 2000 with merge replication at a Publisher and subscriber.

We have some records getting deleted at Publisher and Subscriber and no conflicts are logged.

We have tried the compensate_for_errors setting and this has had no effect.

This is causing serious data corruption and has now become an URGENT issue. Out tech team are almost out of ideas.

Has anyone experienced this or have any ideas as to what to check next?

FCB::Open: Operating System Error 32(The Process Cannot Access The File Because It Is Being Used By Another Process.) Occurred W

Dec 3, 2007

Hello all,
I am running into an interesting scenario on my desktop. I'm running developer edition on Windows XP Professional (9.00.3042.00 SP2 Developer Edition). OS is autopatched via corporate policy and I saw some patches go in last week. This machine is also a hand-me-down so I don't have a clean install of the databases on the machine but I am local admin.

So, starting last week after a forced remote reboot (also a policy) I noticed a few of the databases didn't start back up. I chalked it up to the hard shutdown and went along my merry way. Friday however I know I shut my machine down nicely and this morning when I booted up, I was in the same state I was last Wenesday. 7 of the 18 databases on my machine came up with

FCB:pen: Operating system error 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.) occurred while creating or opening file 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDataTest.mdf'. Diagnose and correct the operating system error, and retry the operation.
and it also logs
FCB:pen failed: Could not open file C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDataTest.mdf for file number 1. OS error: 32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.).

I've caught references to the auto close feature being a possible culprit, no dice as the databases in question are set to False. Recovery mode varies on the databases from Simple to Full. If I cycle the SQL Server service, whatever transient issue it was having with those files is gone.
As much as I'd love to disable the virus scanner, network security would not be amused. The data and log files appear to have the same permissions as unaffected database files. Nothing's set to read only or archive as I've caught on other forums as possible gremlins. I have sufficient disk space and the databases are set for unrestricted growth.

Any thoughts on what I could look at? If it was everything coming up in RECOVERY_PENDING it's make more sense to me than a hit or miss type of thing I'm experiencing now.

[Execute Process Task] Error:The Process Exit Code Was -1 While The Expected Was 0.

Dear list
Im designing a package that uses Microsofts preplog.exe to prepare web log files to be imported into SQL Server

What Im trying to do is convert this cmd that works into an execute process task
D:SSIS ProcessPrepweblogProcessLoad>preplog ex.log > out.log
the above dos cmd works 100%

[Execute Process Task] Error: In Executing "D:SSIS ProcessPrepweblogProcessLoadpreplog.exe" "" at "D:SSIS ProcessPrepweblogProcessLoad", The process exit code was "-1" while the expected was "0".

There are two package varaibles

User::gsPreplogOutput = out.log

Here are the task properties
RequireFullFileName = True
Executable = D:SSIS ProcessPrepweblogProcessLoadpreplog.exe

Execute Process Task Error - The Process Exit Code Was 1 While The Expected Was 0.

Jan 30, 2007

How do I use the execute process task? I am trying to unzip the file using the freeware PZUnzip.exe and I tried to place the entire command in a batch file and specified the working directory as the location of the batch file, but the task fails with the error:

SSIS package "IngramWeeklyPOS.dtsx" starting.

Error: 0xC0029151 at Unzip download file, Execute Process Task: In Executing "C:ETLPOSDataIngramWeeklyUnzip.bat" "" at "C:ETLPOSDataIngramWeekly", The process exit code was "1" while the expected was "0".

Task failed: Unzip download file

SSIS package "IngramWeeklyPOS.dtsx" finished: Success.

Then I tried to specify the exe directly in the Executable property and the agruments as the location of the zip file and the directory to unzip the files in, but this time it fails with the following message:

SSIS package "IngramWeeklyPOS.dtsx" starting.

Error: 0xC002F304 at Unzip download file, Execute Process Task: An error occurred with the following error message: "%1 is not a valid Win32 application".

Task failed: Unzip download file

SSIS package "IngramWeeklyPOS.dtsx" finished: Success.

The command in the batch file when run from the command line works perfectly and unzips the file, so there is absolutely no problem with the command, I believe it is just the set up of the variables on the execute process task editor under Process. Any input on resolving this will be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Monisha

Execute Process Task - Error :The Process Exit Code Was 2 While The Expected Was 0.

Mar 20, 2008

I am designing a utility which will keep two similar databases in sync. In other words, copying the new data from db1 to db2 and updating the old data from db1 to db2.

For this I am making use of the 'Tablediff' utility which when provided with server name, database, table info will generate .sql file which can be used to keep the target table in sync with the source table.

I am using the Execute Process Task and the process parameters I am providing are:

WorkingDirectory : C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft SQL Server90COM
Executable : C:SQL_bat_FilesSQL5TC_CTIcustomer.bat

The customer.bat file will have the following code:
tablediff -sourceserver "LV-SQL5" -sourcedatabase "TC_CTI" -sourcetable "CUSTOMER_1" -destinationserver "LV-SQL2" -destinationdatabase "TC_CTI" -destinationtable "CUSTOMER" -f "c:SQL_bat_Filessql5TC_CTIsql_filescustomer1"

the .sql file will be generated at: C:SQL_bat_Filessql5TC_CTIsql_filescustomer1.

The Problem:
The Execute Process Task is working fine, ie., the tables are being compared correctly and the .SQL file is being generated as desired. But the task as such is reporting faliure with the following error :

[Execute Process Task] Error: In Executing "C:SQL_bat_FilesSQL5TC_CTIpackage_occurrence.bat" "" at "C:Program Files (x86)Microsoft SQL Server90COM", The process exit code was "2" while the expected was "0". ]

Some of you may suggest to just set the ForceExecutionResult = Success (infact this is what I am doing now just to get the program working), but, this is not what I desire.

Can anyone help ?

Integration Services :: Dataload Process - Error Capturing Process

Aug 20, 2014

I'm pulling data from Oracle db and load into MS-SQL 2008.For my data type checks during the data load process, what are options to ensure that the data being processed wouldn't fail. such that I can verify first in-hand with the target type of data and then if its valid format load it into destination table else mark it with error flag and push into errors table... All this at the row level. One way I can think of is to load into a staging table then get the source & destination table -column data types, compare them and proceed.

should I just try loading the data directly and if it fails try trouble shooting(which could be a difficult task as I wouldn't know what caused error...)

Merge Replication - Subscriber Error

Apr 20, 2007

Hi,

I have setup merge replication between SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Express. The setup uses web synchronization. (And the setup uses dynamic filter HOST_NAME)

On some of the client machines, replication fails with the following error (when initializing the subscription):

from subscriber merge agent verbose log:
A dynamic snapshot will be applied from 'D:DOCUME~1JBAUMG~1.CORLOCALS~1TempDB101-EQA-SCL_BQDB_BQ_PUB_BQDB'

Validating dynamic snapshot
2007-04-1819:39:45.434 OLE DB Subscriber 'FRG-BAUMGARTENJSQLEXPRESS': sys.sp_MSregisterdynsnapseqno @snapshot_session_token=N'\XXX.XX.XX.XXSnapshotuncDB101-EQA-SCL_BQDB_BQ_PUB20070417180079dynsnap', @dynsnapseqno='5599F67E-A1A9-4573-A14F-9851F6FE4B51'

(Note: XXX.XX.XX.XX is a proper IP of DB, I have just masked it in the post)

The merge process was unable to deliver the snapshot to the Subscriber. If using Web synchronization, the merge process may have been unable to create or write to the message file. When troubleshooting, restart the synchronization with verbose history logging and specify an output file to which to write.

I enabled verbose logging for the snapshot agent for the subscriber, but there was no error there. It is obvious from the log info above that the error occurs only after downloading the snapshot to the client and during applying it to the subscriber by the merge agent.

After I got this error, I tried running the subscriber program again and it successfully replicated on the third attempt. But this behavior is not consistent and it fails for most of the time on some of the machines

Any info on this error?

SQL Server 2008 :: Error - Row Not Found On Subscriber

Feb 12, 2015

I am getting "Row not found on subscriber" error on the subscriber. I am trying to find the root cause.

1. Records get lost during publication initialization from backup, could not reproduce it though. I was inserting records in a loop into a replicated table while initializing the publication from backup. After the backup/restore finished, I have stopped the insert, allowed the replication to catch up and compared the row count, it was identical.

2. Someone or some process is deleting the records on the subscriber. Setup Audit, but could not confirm this theory so far.

3. Records get deleted twice, as we publish the execution of some bulk delete archive jobs, to fix latency issues. Found this article, which says, this is not the case:

[URL]

4. Records are deleted on the subscriber by triggers. The impacted database has no triggers.

I am running SQL Server 2008 R2.

What else could be the cause of this problem?

Error When Changing Published Article At The Subscriber

Hi

Using merge replication - the stored procs are published articles.

When trying to change the article at the subscriber (sql express) I get the following errors:

Does this mean it can only be changed at the publisher ?

Error While Merging Snapshot Containing A CLR Assembly Schema At The Subscriber

Sep 26, 2007

Hi ,

I urgently need a solution for this. I have configured merge replication between a webhoster and a local machine
and it is working perfectly but when I am adding an article (table) which has a CLR assembly associated with it,
the merge replication is failing saying it cannot apply the schema of the CLR assembly at the client. I think Microsoft
supposedly says in it's documentation that merge replication supports CLR assemblies. I have recreated the snapshot
after selecting the table (article) and I have reinitialised the subscription also but it is just not working. It is the simplest
of replication with just one publisher and one subscriber.

Thanks,
Andy

Merge Replication Subscriber Error: Invalid Cursor State

Aug 13, 2004

These errors occur at the subscriber. First, "The merge process could
not query the last sent and received generations" is generated, then
immediately afterwards, "invalid cursor state" is generated. We are
trying to pull a new subscription snapshot from the republisher. The
subscriber has been added and removed from the replusher's pull
subscriptions a number of times for testing. Now, we cannot get the
subscriber to re-sync with the republisher.

Any ideas?

Error While Changing Custom Resolver Between 2005 Publisher And 2000 Subscriber

Sep 25, 2007

Hi all,

here is the context of our problem:

- Publisher :

version SQL Server 2005 SP2
table in SQL Server 2000 (80) compatibility level
publication in SQL Server 2000 compatibility level
- Distributor : SQL Server 2005 SP2
- Subscriber : SQL Server 2000 SP4 + hotfixes (version 8.00.2187)

There is only one article in our publication (a simple table with a GUID and a nvarchar(50) columns), and we have left the default resolver.

1 - The first synchronization of the subscription is successfully completed, and it is the same for the different updates/inserts/deletes or conflicts.

2 - Then we change the Resolver of our article by our own COM-Based Custom Resolver (developped in C# 2.0). This resolver only change the default behaviour: the subscriber always win (this is for a test, in the future we will have a complex business logic). All the synchronizations works fine and do what we want in the conflicts.

3 - We rollback the resolver to the default one... and here is the problem!
The synchonizations stop to work correctly. For all of them we've got the same error:

Code SnippetReplprov.dll , 2007/09/25 14:26:07.591, 4000, 16890, S1, ERROR: ErrNo = 0x80045017, ErrSrc = <null>, ErrType = 8, ErrStr = The schema script '
declare @cmd nvarchar(1000)
set @cmd='exec sys.sp_MSchangearticleresolver @article_resolver=@ar, @resolver_clsid=@rc, @artid=@ai, @resolver_info=@ri'
exec dbo.sp_executesql @cmd, N'@ar> nvarchar(255),@rc nvarchar(40),@ai uniqueidentifie..." mailto:N?@ar">N'@armailto:N'@ar">N'@ar</A< A>> nvarchar(255),@rc nvarchar(40),@ai uniqueidentifie...

It is no more possible to synchronize this subscription... Any remark will be helpfull cause we did not find anything on the net concerning this error.

Thanks a lot!

Error 26 - Followed The Guidelines, Still Unable To Make It Work

Nov 7, 2007

Good Morning, I've been searching through all the tutorials and questions, have tried many things. I am still getting "[SqlException (0x80131904): An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)]"

as an error. This is what I've got:

I€™m using SQL Server Express 2005, installed with the default settings. Had not touched this program for anything until I started to follow directions to fix Error 26. Visual Web Developer Express ASP.NET is what I€™ve used to build the webpage. I was using the ASP.NET web configuration to add users to the database, which is set to use the provider ASPSqlServerProvider.
SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration
Database Engine Remote Connections €“ set to €śLocal and Remote Connections €“ Using TCP/IP Only€?
SQL Server Browser is Enabled and Running
- is set to Active, under Built In Account €“ Network Service
I have created Windows firewall exceptions for:
sqlservr.exe
sqlbrowser.exe
udp port 1434
SQL Server Configuration Manager
both SQL Server and SQL Server Browser are running.
Under SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration
Shared Memory and TCP/IP are enabled only.

SQL Native Client Configuration
Shared Memory 1
TCP/IP 2
Named Pipes 3
all enabled

I read through the post at http://blogs.msdn.com/sql_protocols/archive/2007/05/13/sql-network-interfaces-error-26-error-locating-server-instance-specified.aspx but as I'm new to SqlServer I do not know how to check on the first three items.

I'm getting extremely frustrated, and would just like the login portion of this website to start working before my boot ends up through the computer. Please help, lol, thank you.

Overflow Error That Doesn't Make Sense....

May 3, 2006

I'm troubleshooting a stored procedure that suddenly decided to stop working. I narrowed down the problem to the last part of the stored procedure where it selects data from a temp table and inserts it into a physical table in the SQL2000 database.

I keep receiving the following error:

Server: Msg 8115, Level 16, State 8, Line 140
Arithmetic overflow error converting numeric to data type numeric.

The data values all appear to be correct with none of them seeming to be out of precision, but I keep getting the error. I've tried casting all the values and it didn't work. It executes w/o error when I comment out that particular insert. I just don't get it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Error: 0 - No Process Is On The Other End Of The Pipe

Mar 18, 2007

I can use SQL Server Management Studio Express to connect to my local database SQL 2005 database on bknjisqlexpress.

I am also able to connect to the database from Visual Studio, and this is where I copied the following connection string to be used in my C# code

string myConnectString = "Data Source=BKFNJI\SQLEXPRESS;" +

 "Initial Catalog=cmiCompatibilityDataBase" +

"Integrated Security=True;Pooling=False";

// specify SQL Server Specific Connection string

SqlConnection cmiDBCompConnection = new SqlConnection(myConnectString);

cmiDBCompConnection.Open();

when I attempt to run the apps, I get the

"System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException was unhandled
Message="A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)".....

any idea what I am doing wrong, given that the connection string works using other means?  I am using Windows authentication.

To add, the error in my log shows:

2007-03-17 21:10:55.82 Logon       Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. [CLIENT: <local machine>]

Thanks,

Klaus
