I had created a database in sql server but since then installed windows xp pro and now when i go through the microsoft sql server dsn configuration the database is not valid and therefore i cannot change the default database as it says it doesn't exist.
So then when i type in command prompt use 'db' it says it doesn't exist but when i try to create 'db' it says that the database already exists.
I get the error message, could not locate entry in sysdatabases for 'cti' (database name).
When i look in mysql - data - along with master etc there is my cti.mdf and log files??
I'm stuck???
Is it that the files just aren't registering through sql server???
Please help!

I executed the above code in my SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE) and I got the following error messages:

Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'NORTHWIND'. No entry found with that name.
Make sure that the name is entered correctly.

I know I recreated the NORTHWIND Database from a different Database before and I did not do anything for the entry in sysdatabases. How can I change the entry in sysdatabases for database 'NORTHWIND' now? Please help and advise.

Feb 16, 2007hello everyone,I am using VS 2005 and sql server 2000. I have a web application which uses a connectionstring with a user id and pwd. Everything is fine, I can execute normal sql statements from the code behind. I cannot execute a stored procedure...I get this error. Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'exec usp_add2DB (my parameters are included here, deleted for simplicity reasons)No entry found with that
name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly. I have given execute permission for the user, and the name of the storedproc is correct. the name of the server is also correct....pls pls help me what is wrong here...

Feb 14, 2008My C# asp.net web application is throwing an exception and the message is the following:
RAISERROR could not locate entry for error 60002 in sysmessages.
The error occurs in the stored procedure. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to fix this problem? Note that if I manually run the stored procedure, I get the following error message:

I have a request to create a data entry form with validation. The data is in hardcopy and people have to enter data on the screen and then this data should be output to a CSV file, so that I can load that csv file to a table. One of other important requirement is that Data entry person should be able to view the data entered and she should be able to modify them aswell. I.E we should have a form where it should also display the entered data with modifyable feautre.
I know some VB, I thought about doing this in VB. Can anyone please SUGGEST ME HOW TO IMPLEMENT THIS or Any sample code?? I really appreciate for your Help and Input. Thanks
URGENT - Upgrade Problems W/ MSDB
Oct 11, 1999After a weekend upgrade from 6.5 to 7.0 that failed during the import step on user tables because of bad data, we are now left with none of our scheduled tasks. I figured I would go back to the 6.5 msdb database, grab the list of tasks and recreate them in 7.0. Nice theory until I went to add them to msdb and got the error message 207: invalid column name "category_id," "netsend_address," "last_netsend_date, and "last_netsend_time."
Upon investigation, I noticed that we are missing those fields from our sysoperators table in msdb. I fear other tables or columns are missing too. Going back to 6.5 is not an option. Is there a way to get a good msdb or reupgrade only one database (msdb) without interferring with existing databases on that server? Our production database is humming along fine, but I'd like to have a good msdb to support it.

URGENT!! - Msdb DB Suspect Mode
May 29, 2001Mu MSDB database is in suspect mode. Anyone have any info to help get it out. It tells me that it cannot find the path specified for the backups, yet the path exists and there is more than enough disk space even though it says that there is not? I am confused. First time getting this error and doesn't make sense why.

Yesterday, literally I was banging my head to the wall, kept getting this error:
A Connection could not be established with the information provided. Hit OK to change your connection settings.
Invalid object name 'sysdatabases'.
I uninstall and re-install back the reporting services couple times and I kept getting the same error.
I have 2 instances of SQL Server on the same Server:
SQL Server 2000
SQL Server 2005
The 2 instances work side by side, I was wondering if this causing the error.
Can anyone help out with this problem?

Page (3:15010) in database ID 9 is allocated in the SGAM (3:3) and PFS (3:8088), but was not allocated in any IAM. PFS flags 'MIXED_EXT ALLOCATED 0_PCT_FULL'.
Trying to located the object that the allocation has gone to pot over.
Any quick way to resolve a datbase object using a page ID?

DateTime From Database Entry
Nov 9, 2007Hi, I know this is probably very simple but I am pretty new to this and have tried looking but cant seem to get the search criteria right. I have a database with a storeDate field which is of shortdatetime type. I am connecting to the database (MSSQL) via a stored procedure and returning all the records. I then use the code foreach (DataRow dr in ds.Tables[0].Rows) { DateTime dtTo = DateTime.Now; DateTime dtFrom = DateTime.Parse(dr["storeDate"].ToString()); TimeSpan diff = dtTo.Subtract(dtFrom); } I am basically trying to find out the age of the database entry by subtracting it from the current DateTime so i can delete records over a certain age. The problem (at least one of them!) is retrieving the "storeDate" object from the database and storing it in the dtFrom object. I have tried just assigning it directly as dtFrom = dr["storeDate"] and various other methods but I just don't know enough to assign it! Can anyone help me with this or spot any other mistakes in this process of removing old files automatically. Greatly Appreciated,Sean.

I have changed the code to match my database, but it seems to have somewhat the opposite affect, rejecting all names (even new ones) or accepting all names (including existing ones). Null Entry In The Database

I am using a script component to retrieve some values from a server. This script component using Script task which uses VB.NET code. I have tested the VB.NET code and it returns a non null value for a string field 'sentence'. The 'sentence' feild is then passed on to an OLE DB Command transformation to be stored into the database along with a couple of other feilds.
The OLE DB Command transformation uses a stored procedure to store these feilds into the database. But when I check my table in the database, all other feilds are stored properly other than the 'sentence' feild which is null.
I am wondering what could be causingthis problem.

Jun 21, 2007I'am doing functionality test on DTS packages and saving my DTS packages to meta data services instead of saving them as local packages. We would like to see what information would be provided by saving them this way, but when we try to open the meta data browser (the 3rd icon under DTS) we get the following error:

Checking If An Entry Exists In A Database
Apr 22, 2006I would like to be able to check if a certain entry exists in a SQL table. Ideally, the output would be a boolean so I can use it in an IF statement which would tell it what to do depending on whether or not the entry exists. Thanks for anyone that helps. :)

Help MSDB Database
May 2, 2001I have a new server setup running sql2000 as default instance. I wanted
to move all the jobs and dts packages from another server which is running
multiple instances of sql server. I backed up and restored the msdb database
to the new server and now I can't edit any jobs. I get this error?
can't edit or delete the job that originated from MSX server.
How do I fix this problem. Any help will be appreciated.

In the last one and half years, I used the Northwind Database in SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE) to learn the programming of SqlConnections, Data sources, Database Exploere, ADO.NET 2.0, etc. via VB 2005 Express.
The Northwind Database in my SSMSE got lost very often, but I was not aware of it. How can I know where the Northwind Database is used or processed by my VB 2005 Express projects that were the examples of some tutorial books or my trial projects? How can I release the Northwind Database back to my SSMSE from the VB 2005 Express projects? Please help and advise.

I have a server with 50 databases all the same with different data but the same structure, is there a way to update a table in multiple databases using the sysdatabases to get the relevant database names from?
I imagine it would have to be a cursor to do this? I checked thru the Search feature but could not find any info on this topic is it possible?

Apr 6, 2007I have a form view that I am using to insert new data into a sql express database and would like to find a way to avoid attempting to insert a record if the key already exists. is there a way to do this with the formview insert command. Everything works great until I try to add a record with an already existing value in the unique key field, then it breaks.

Msdb Database Problem

Couple of days back my server was down because of hardware problem and it was rectefied and sql server 6.5 started yesterday afternoon and the backup schedules was run in demand yesterday but it failed, and some of the schedules which are suppose to take backup in the night also failed today, it was also not showing anything in the schedule history, and when I run the schedule on demand today again it failed, so I created a newdevice and scheduled a newtask and I run in demand and the history shows that:-
schedule history (Could not insert a backup or restore history/detail record in msdb.dbo.sysbackuphistory or sysrestorehistory. This may indicate a problem with the MSDB database. DUMP/LOAD was still successful. (Message 3009)).
I checked the sysbackuphistory it shows three days back history, can any body give me the solution, what are the things to be checked, please give me the solution.

Jul 28, 2005I have to rename some Originating_Server fields in the msdb database. I'm pretty sure I have to run a script that makes the msdb database editable but I can't find it anywhere. Am I wrong?

Issue With Msdb Database

when i try to restore a database called ddaa, i am getting the following message after the restore is completed.. and the database icon in the enterprize manager is having ddaa(loading).now i am not able to access that database..
the message i am getting is..
database msdb cannot be opened due to anaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space. could not insert a backup/restore history detail record in the msdb database.this may indicate a problem with the msdb database.
how to resolve this issue..
