Unable To Start Reporting Services On Local Machine

I am new to SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services and I€™m having problems starting the service. I am running a Windows XP SP2 with SQL Server 2005 and reporting services but the service will not start. My SQL Server instance logs on using €˜Windows Authentication€™ using a username sysadm with no password
I have installed IIS and made sure that ASP.net is running.
I have opened up the Report Services Configuration Manager and amended the settings but I€™m unable to get the service started!!!
Theses are my settings
i) Report Server Virtual Directory OK

When I click on start no error message appears, it just seems to time out.
I have an interesting problem. I am running xp pro and when I try to connect to an instance of SQL2005 running on WIN2003 using SQL Sevrer Management Studio, I get the following error:
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.) This instance is protected by a vpn and is running on a clustered environment. I can connect to other SQL2000 servers that are running on a clustered environment and SQL2005 that is not clustered.
After adding a host file entry, I was able to connect to the server using OSQL. I was able to telnet into the port the server is listening on.
Others in my group can connect to the server using SQL Server Management Studio with no problems. They are running Win2003 Server. I originally could connect to this server, but I needed to change my password. After that I lost my remote connectivity. I can RDP into the server and map drives to the server. I map to a local administrator of this machine.
how to deploy web services on local machine. I created self certificate in IIS and then build the solution in the visual studio. After I build the solution, I found that automatically it created the virtual directories for the web services under the default website in the IIS Manager. When I click and select the browse it is not working.
I have a client server application and it is running in the following configuration: SERVER A: MS Server2003 with MS SQL2000, Our ERP application software is installed on this server as is MS SQL200.
Server B: is our e-commerce server and it is running MS Windows2000 server OS and no MS SQL. The e-commerce application is pointed to the active SQL server on server A. I am trying to run a software version upgrade on on software application (which was successfully run on server A) When we try to run this upgrade on server B we get a message: " Setup is unable to start MS SQL Server Services, please start and try again"
I do not understand what is going on with this. SQL & SQL Service Agent is running on Server A. Any suggestions as to what I need to do?
Our DBA has installed reporting services on a server and now in order to access the report manager, one has to be an Admin on that Server. I am guessing that there is a mistake in the configuration of Reporting Services. Usually it should allow anybody who was added to the roles in the properties section of the Report Manager, right? I have also added the users to the DB..
Also I am using Windows Authentication to access Report Catalog items (Reporting Services is installed on Server2) from a web Application(deployed on Server1) and displaying the report using report viewer. For some reason, server1 has to be in an Admin role on Server2 to access the report catalog/report. This is kinda strange for me as I don't want everybody to be an Admin on Server2. Can anybody please point in the right direction?
When deploying a project from within a SSIS project in Visual Studio 2012 to SQL Server 2012 Integration services server I get the follwoing error message:
Failed to deploy project. For more information, query the operation_messages view for the operation identifier '10'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 27203)
For the given operation id there is no entry in view catalog.operation_messages.
Sorry if this is a simple question, I've not seen any similar posts.
I'm just finished installed SQL 2005 on Vista Business edition (first time for both). I subsequently installed SP2 for 2005.
Upon completing the SP2 installation, the SQL Server Surface Area Configuration manager opened asking me to grant admin rights to the account I used to install the software. The account I used is the local admin account on the machine (only account on the machine as this is my dev box) .
Nothing shows in the two boxes below on this dialog, "Available Privelages" is blank and "Privelages granted is blank".
In addition, if I go to SQL Server Configuration Manager, and click on SQL Server 2005 Services, nothing shows in the right pain. It's as if the software installed, and yet no instance of the database exists or is running.
My thought was that the admin account I used to install the software doesn't have sufficient privelages to to start the SQL Server or SQLBrowser. So I went to computer management, Local Users and groups (machine isn't on a network yet), and made sure this same account is part of the administrators group.

Hello Everyone. I recently installed MS Sql Server 2005 and Reporting services on a dedicated server. My report server database and my content databases (report content) are all mounted on a named instance of SQL (on the local machine). When I attempt to run a report via the web based report manager I get the following error message.
An error has occurred during report processing. Cannot create a connection to data source 'Production'. The feature: "The edition of Reporting Services that you are using requires that you use local SQL Server relational databases for report data sources and the report server database." is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services.
The data source production has a connection string with the Data Source element set to the named instance of SQL running on the local machine. The report manager web application is also running on the same machine.
All databases are on the local machine (SERVER217MSSQL2K5WG). The version of reporting services installed is what shipped with the Workgroup edition of SQL Server 2005. Does anyone know what could be causing this error? I can assure you all of the data is on the local machine.

Hi all, i am tring to install and configure reporting services in Windows 2003 SP2- 64 bit machine as part of installing SCE 2007, and i followed the procedure for confiurng all the options in reportingservices config tool,
all the options show green flag and still could not proceed further as the following error is coming
"The Selected Sql server reportin service instance is not configured , please configure to continue" which halts the further process,
I have installed SQL Server 2005 edition and installed Sql server 2005 SP2 also,
I have installed reporting services from SQL Express SP1 package. OS is Windows 2000 SP4. Just after installation "Reporting services" service has StartMode=Automatic and LogOnAS=LocalSystem as shown in SQL Server Configuration Manager. When system is rebooted reporting services state is Stopped and there is 2 errors in System log: 1. Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the SQL Server Reporting Services (REPS) service to connect. 2. The SQL Server Reporting Services (REPS) service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. If i select "start" from service's context menu then it starting normally and it's state becomes Running. What can i do to make reporting services starting automatically on system load?
i created a layout in visual studio 2005 with the proper dimensions to print on an Avery 5160 label sheet (3 labels across and 10 down)
in the Body properties, i set Columns to 3, ColumnSpacing to 0.125", and Size 2.625" (W) & 1" (H).
i created a list table with a text box of the same dimension as the Size in the Body.
the thing is when i go to preview the report in visual studio, it just shows all the data but only in one column, but if i click the Print Layout button, it shows all 3 columns, then when i print it, it works! so i assumed that this was just the way visual studio handled the data. no big deal...
the problem is when i upload this to the reporting services on our local intranet and run it from the reporting services, it shows only one column (the left most only) and prints that way too; it's almost like i need a Print Layout button on the reporting services (which there isn't one).
is there something that i need to set so that it will print in 3-column form from the reporting services so people can print on label sheets?
i hope this makes sense. also, i tested this on the same printer just to make sure it wasn't hardware.
I have a local report for which i am binding the Dataset dynamically. I am trying to print this report using a seperate button on the page. I saw in the forums saying that the reportviewer can be converted to an EMF file, bind this to an image control and can Print this image using Javascript.
Can anyone help me with the sample code to print local report from the reportviewer (it may be in any approach.)
I'm trying to install the common components for SQL 2005 on a server that already has Reporting Services 2005 installed on it. It keeps comng up with an error: "To change an existing instance of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to a different edition of SQL Server 2005, you must run SQL Server 2005 Setup from the command prompt and include the SKUUPGRADE=1 parameter."
The Reporting Services install has had SP2 applied to it, would that be what is messing up the install?
I have very little experience with SQL so any info would be helpful.
I think I might have left the domain name blank when I installed this. Is there anyway to enter one later. I have tried to change this through add/remove programs and do not get a chance to change this field

I am new to reporting services. I have created a report project in SQL Server BIDS. The datasource is SQL Server. I was able to see the preview of the report and could build and deploy the report. But when I try to run the report, it gives me error. So I tried connecting to Reporting Services through SQL Server Management Studio.

How do you write an expression in report builder to only display the results that start with a certain string value..eg. Project Number - CUP1501, DPR1502, ENG1507 etc. These values will all get returned but I only want the Project Number that has CUP and DPR in it?
I have a ssrs report which has a parameter start date.i have made 12 columns acc to client req which i cannot change:
jan|feb|mar|apr|may|jun|jul|aug|sep|oct|nov|dec
These columns are dynamic acc to start date for which i have used this exp for first cell:
=monthname(month(Parameters!Startdate.Value),true) and for next 11 cells accordingly.
These 12 columns are grouped quaterly which i have made statically again for clien req which i cannot change so they are grouped staticaly by me in report like:

Now when i select my start date of months jan,apr,july and oct report work fine.... but when i select my start date months of feb,may,aug and nov then reportis something like: (lets say i choose feb)

What is happening is in q1 feb,mar and apr are coming and what i want in q1 is jan,feb and mar.

So generally what is am asking is how to display jan in this condition in my first cell.same apllies for rest of months..
Similarly when i select my start date months of mar,june,sep,dec i want previous two months to be displayed.
Is it possible to have a custom start date parameter on a report? I would like to have a cumulative daily report for the week, Friday to Thursday. The final daily to run on the Friday, then the next week begins.  I have a enddate, which is today()-1 (for previous day); I need a start date to be variable.  In other words,
On a Monday, report pulls data from last Friday to Sunday; On a Tuseday, report pulls data from last Friday to Monday, On a Wednesday, report pulls data from Friday to Tuesday, etc, until on Friday, the report pulls data from last Friday to Thursday.
We have created and scheduled some test reports via Idera performance tool but we are unable to delete the reports. These are not custom reports and reports created with Schedule Email option in Idera. Unfortunately, I dera does not have any option to delete these reports and support is asking me if I tried this by deleting from SQL Server Reporting Services.I looked at the Reporting services but can't find any place to delete these reports. Can I delete them from some tables in Reports databases ?. If so, what are the tables ?. I delete the jobs from SQL Server but the jobs are automatically created the next day emailing the reports again..

My request is to calculate total capacity of all available Virtual CPUs, Memory and Storage from 4 separate clouds: Â 'cloud1','cloud2','cloud3','cloud4'
Whenever I select =Sum(Fields!VCPU.Value) expression in Report Properties and assign it to a variable and assign that variable to a Text Box field I get the value as VCPU * (Number of VMs) which is not correct.
I am looking to get the value of VCPU from all 4 clouds above.
We have a request to build a report based on user input from an excel spreadsheet. We have a SSIS package that imports the data from Excel. This is run by a sql server agent job. Our stored procedure executes this job and runs this whole process just fine but when we execute the stored procedure from reporting services we get errors. Has anyone done this type of thing before and do you have any working solutions for how to get this reporting methodology to function?
